My fiancé and I have been wanting to try out this place for very long time and tonight we finally gave it a chance. We were incredibly disappointed and DISGUSTED! I ordered a Philadelphia roll, bbq chicken, and a spicy tuna roll. The Philadelphia roll which was almost $20, had a slimy and grey salmon cobbled together with warm cream cheese and a sour avocado. The bbq chicken horrid to say the least. A rubbery, cheaply prepared meat served on a dish APART from the smallest scoop of white rice, is this place struggling with finances??The spicy tuna roll had no cucumber in it and it was fine, I suppose. The place was rancid with the smell of cigarettes and the most obnoxious AI generated music assaulting our ears. Please avoid this place if you can. $60+ is outrageous for the quality. I've driven by this place on Laurel Canyon so many times but never stopped. After seeing a few videos on Instagram, I finally gave it a try. The food completely exceeded my expectations! Gustavo, the sushi chef, did an amazing job. Every dish was better than the last. The prices are a little high, but worth it. The giant ice-cold beer mug for $14 was a nice bonus. Service was incredible as per usual. We come every now and then or order delivery even though we're right down the street. The baked salmon roll is our absolute favorite very delicious and just melts in your mouth. We typically also really like the heart attack roll and my husband tried the sunset roll tonight which he loved! Tasted very fresh. But 0 star goes for the owner or manager not sure (she looks Armenian) for the attitude towards her own workers who tried their best . Today was my first time eating at Lit Sushi. I actually live in the neighborhood and have been wanting to try them for soo long but never had the chance. I'm sorry to say, but it was an extremely poor experience all around. The food was mediocre, but the most annoying part was the service (if you could call it that) and we were the only couple in the restaurant. There was definitely a communication problem, not on our end I can assure you. Don't order the soft shell crab appetizer unless you want to wait 40 minutes for it to arrive cold and oh so so tiny! Then the fee to use our card and the 10% service fee was an insult after our experience. Needless to say,though we are in walking distance,we won't be going back. We absolutely LOVE lit sushi, we started coming here because our favorite sushi placed got new owners and we are so sad but this place is so close to our house and it's open late which we love. Everytime we come here it's like family! The owner is so sweet and always greets us with hugs.
