Good spot to eat and catch up with a friend, which is exactly what I came here for. I came for dinner on a Thursday night around 6:30 pm and it wasn't too crowded. Only 2 tables were occupied. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall. I had no trouble finding parking, but there aren't a ton of spots. The decor inside is nice with some Thai touches. There's a pretty flower hallway on the way to the bathroom too. They offer all the standard Thai dishes. My friend and I shared the Thai fried rice with shrimp ($18.95) and the pad see ew with beef ($17.95). Both dishes came out super quickly. I liked the pad see ew more taste-wise, but I thought the portion was quite small. They could have thrown in some more rice noodles in. The fried rice was okay too, but I'm not used to the fried rice being slightly sweet like they make it here. If I was just rating the food, I'd probably give it a 4. But overall it was a 5 star experience as our server was very nice. We ended up staying here slowly eating and chatting for 2.5 hours and never felt rushed. read more

For takeout it works well, but for one time I decided to dine at Exotic Thai for a lunch run. It's quiet, but probably - too quiet. Decor felt a lot like you went to a Thai restaurant in Thailand. Lunch hour usually is their busiest for takeout only. Why not five stars? The location is probably their weakest point. I got a kid going to school at Cal Poly Humboldt. because there aren't any direct flights from anywhere close by there to anywhere close by here, sometimes we gotta drive to Burbank and pick him up. here's a surprise: when you dealing with teenage boys, they're always hungry, and Thai is a popular choice for eats before our two plus hour drive home. we eat family style and get enough to share. the boy usually starts with the BANGKOK GARDEN ROLL (spinach, mixed lettuces, cucumbers, carrots, basil, tofu and thin rice noodles wrapped in soft rice paper). Some of the most flavorless Thai food I've ever had. Not just low spice, because we ordered spicy food, but also just bland. Thai food at its best is vibrant and flavorful, and this was the farthest from that. I'm honestly stunned this place got such good reviews. And the service was awful. The first round of food came and we waited more than 20 minutes for the second round. The third round came out quicker after that, but it still wasn't great. The server didn't stop by and explain why there was such a delay and didn't apologize for such a long wait. When half the table is eating and the other half has to wait around a half hour to eat, it really is a terrible experience. I also had to go up to the counter to request a check and had to go to the counter again to pay, otherwise we might still be waiting for them to figure it out. And charging an 18% "service fee" for a party of six, when you provide such poor service, is incredibly disrespectful. It's no wonder we were ignored, because the server knew she was going to get 18% regardless. read more

Visited around 8:45 on a Monday night and found a few tables taken, but mostly empty. Lots of parking options in the lot and free street parking. I ordered the cucumber salad and was pleasantly surprised to discover the fresh slices of cucumber were in a slightly sweet vinegar sauce. Delicious! I also got the Pad Woon Sen, which came out relatively quickly within 10 minutes. Chicken was well cooked, not dry at all, as well as the vegetables, which were cooked, yet crisp, and not soggy. The glass noodles were perfectly tender and I enjoyed the slightly sweet and fragrant brown sauce. However, the tomatoes were underripe and rather mealy. The mushrooms seemed to be from a can, so not much flavor, yet the texture wasn't as slimy as to be expected. The white onions weren't all cooked evenly, so a few bites were spicy in the nose. I love that they served everything on reusable dishware. The red dominant decorations give the place a cute small business feel in the best way, with traditional Thai outfits on display, Thailand tourism posters on the wall and colorful flowers and lanterns hanging from the ceiling. The Steamed Dumplings, are nice. The Spicy Basil Chicken had some nice seasoning, and was very flavorful. The Tom Yum Soup with Shrimp, and spicy Yellow Curry, were also good. We loved the flavors and food. We had a monthly special called Khao Soi- a coconut curry noodle chicken soup with crispy noodles that was out of this world scrumptious. We also ate the fried tilapia with sweet basil leaves in a special chili garlic sauce on the side and vegetables. It was crispy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside and tasted amazing. We loved their Pad See Ew, also delicious. The cucumber salad, Thai tea with boba, and mango sticky rice were all perfect.
