I got the super spicy and it just tasted like slightly chili flavored ramen. Imagine someone did cook something spicy in the bowl of ramen and then rinsed the bowl quickly twice. I got the tonkotsu ramen with chashu (2 pieces), seasoned egg, green onions, corn and no bean sprout. Pretty oily and a bit salty and again, not a hint of spiciness. Noodles had a nice chew to it at least. Just alright if anything.

For my post-birthday celebration, I met up with one of my close friends, and we decided that sushi sounded like the perfect way to celebrate. We ended up checking out Sushi Corner in Glendale, located on San Fernando Rd in a shopping center. Parking can be somewhat limited depending on the time of day, in my opinion. There is also street parking available, which may be the better option if the shopping center is busy. Once we arrived, we were welcomed by the friendly staff and shown to our table. The atmosphere inside was cool, comfortable, and very hospitable. It had a nice vibe that made it a great environment to sit down, relax, and enjoy a meal. We decided to order a variety of rolls so we could try different flavors and styles. Our order included: New Guy RollInside: spicy shrimp, crab, and shrimp tempura.Topped with avocado, creamy sauce, eel sauce, crunchy flakes, and green onions. BSC RollInside: California roll.Topped with baked scallop, mayo, smelt egg, eel sauce, and green onion. Philadelphia RollSalmon, cream cheese, and avocado. Cheesy Ebi RollInside: shrimp tempura, crab salad, cream cheese, jalapeño, avocado, and eel sauce. The entire roll is deep-fried. Lemon RollMade with soy paper. Inside: tuna, salmon, albacore, yellowtail, avocado, and asparagus.Topped with white fish, thinly sliced lemon, jalapeño, micro cilantro, and garlic ponzu. 411 RollInside: spicy tuna and cucumber.Topped with albacore, crispy onion, jalapeño, and fire sauce. We also ordered hot green tea to go along with our meal. After waiting for a little while, our food started coming out one roll at a time. Everything we tried tasted fresh, and the combination of ingredients worked really well together. Each roll had its own personality, which made trying several different ones especially fun. Out of everything we ordered, the Lemon Roll was probably my favorite because the combination of the Lemon and the Garlic Ponzu, brought all the flavors together; My New Favorite. Overall, I had a great experience at Sushi Corner. I really enjoyed the quality and variety of the sushi, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and accommodating throughout our visit. In my personal opinion, I would definitely recommend Sushi Corner if you're in the San Fernando Valley and looking for sushi with some unique and creative twists. I recently discovered Sushi Corner while searching for a new sushi spot on Yelp, and I'm so glad I did! It's conveniently located at the corner of San Fernando and Grover, making it easy to find. As soon as my friend and I walked in, we were warmly welcomed by the servers and sushi chefs, which set a great tone for our visit. The ambience is lovely--a nice little spot with a good amount of seating. I particularly enjoyed the TVs; one was playing a food channel showcasing how to cook Japanese desserts, which added a fun touch to our dining experience. We decided to sample a variety of dishes, including the Lemon Roll, Rainbow Roll, Albacore Crunch Roll, Shishito Peppers, Garlic Edamame, Cucumber Sunomono, Sashimi Poke Salad, Yellowtail Sashimi, and a Spicy Tuna Tostada. To our surprise, one of the sushi chefs treated us to a complimentary Tuna Tostada and Yellowtail Sashimi, which was a delightful touch! Everything we tried was delicious, but my personal favorites were the Yellowtail Sashimi and the Albacore Crunch Roll--I can't wait to order them again on my next visit. Overall, our experience was fantastic, and the staff truly took care of us. I'm already looking forward to returning and trying more of their offerings. Sushi is something that is a hit or miss at most places. If your first experience isn't amazing, odds are you are never going back. The majority of the sushi places located in the San Fernando Valley either have bad parking, bad indoor seating, bad customer service, or just bad sushi. Sushi Corner is the only place that I go for my sushi fix after trying over a dozen sushi joints. They have friendly staff, reasonable wait times (most times immediate seating), a variety of options to chose from, indoor seating is comfortable, and great amount of parking. Recently the quality of tuna from most sushi places suck, but I like how even though tuna isn't my favorite I'll eat it from here as it's fresh and doesn't leave me with an irritated stomach. Some of my favorite rolls I'd recommend are the 1) Shrimp tempura roil (spicy mayo instead of eel sauce) 2) Full moon 3) Midnight roll 4) Sexy gal/girl 5) 411 6) Naked 4 which I tried today and I really enjoyed it. I love anything they do with Albacore it always comes out amazing. So if you want great sushi, little to no wait time, good parking, and overall great atmosphere I'd recommend giving Sushi Corner a try. read more

She then brought out THREE more rounds, as if the chef had prepared 20 courses and we were obliged to eat them all. We were stuffed when this was over...and not in a good way. She then brought out the bill and I almost vomited. It was over $600 w/tip! She worked very hard to hide the pricing sheet from us as we ate, and insisted we buy the rounds "already prepared", which stretched out over 3 more courses. I'm all for authentic/traditional food, and for supporting the small family eateries of the community. However, we could have eaten at a 5-star sushi palace in Beverly Hills, instead of sitting in a broken booth in a strip mall in Burbank, and getting taken for a ride.

Monday came and went, and NOTHING. I gave it another day, thinking maybe it would take three business days to process. By Wednesday, I STILL HADN'T RECEIVED ANYTHING, so I called the restaurant again. TELL ME WHY THE EMPLOYEE TOLD ME THAT NO REFUND HAD BEEN PROCESSED AT ALL?!?! BEST BELIEVE A REPORT HAS BEEN FILED WITH LA COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH. This entire experience was frightening, frustrating, and completely unacceptable. The food safety concern alone was bad enough, but the way management handled the situation made it even worse. Customers deserve safe food and management that takes serious complaints seriously.

For takeout orders, it seems they wrap the hand roll in plastic. I think the idea is to make it easier and cleaner to eat or to keep it intact, but in my experience, the plastic was unnecessary, especially since it was wrapped not only around the outside but also inside the hand roll. When I tried to remove it, it actually tore off the bottom of my hand roll. The fish to rice ratio was also interesting. When you bite into a hand roll, you typically get to taste both the fish and the rice together. Here, the first few bites were mostly fish, with the rice concentrated at the very bottom. I probably wouldn't order the albacore hand roll again, but I'm open to trying other sushi options on their menu!

I even asked for it to be extra spicy, but it honestly wasn't spicy at all. It was giving... nothing. The broth was decent, but it definitely lacked the heat I was hoping for. The stuffed jalapeños were also just okay. Overall, the experience wasn't bad, but nothing really stood out to make me want to come back. The service was fine, and I have no real complaints about that. The problem was the food. Everything was just so bland. The rice had practically no flavor, the shrimp was bland, and even the tempura, which had decent breading, was disappointing because everything inside seemed to have no taste whatsoever. I'm not exaggerating when I say that even adding soy sauce didn't really help. It was like the food was missing the most basic thing a meal should have: flavor. On top of that, some of the tempura and vegetables came in these big chunks that were still uncooked in the middle. The breading itself was fine, but biting into vegetables that weren't properly cooked made the whole experience even worse. We eventually stopped eating. We didn't even bother finishing our meal and ended up taking the rest to go. What makes this especially frustrating is that we know this place can do better because we've had good experiences here in the past. It seems like the quality has been getting worse lately, at least from our experience. I can understand having an off day, but when practically everything you order is bland and poorly prepared, it's hard to overlook. I feel like this is because they expanded their menu to include other things. Their menu used to be smaller and not it's all over the place offering ramen, noodles, bowls and other items. I really wanted to enjoy this meal, but I just couldn't. The service was fine, but good service alone can't make up for food that simply isn't enjoyable. At this point, I honestly can't recommend this location anymore, which is a shame considering how much we used to enjoy coming here.

Our table asked for water multiple times before we got anything. They did seem a bit busy. Seems like a decent amount of tables. 2. First item came and it was one spicy tuna hand roll for one person among other ordered items in a party of five. It was several minutes before anyone else got anything. 3. The orders were confirmed correctly at the table but they added a roll to the ticket that we didn't ask for. A different roll we actually ordered was not on the ticket. Server asked me to check, showed him where a different roll was marked and not the one we received. We were asked if we wanted to sub the roll for the one we ordered but it's a different menu item and at this point movie was starting in less than half an hour. Not clear if he would comp it or not because he took some empty plates but left it there knowing it was a wrong order. He did eventually take it in a way that felt like 'oh so you don't want to pay for this?' We decide to remove the roll from the table as well as several other items that we ordered but the request was not actually sent to the kitchen. 4. Some dishes looked nicely presented and some had extremely uneven cuts. Either there are too many chefs in the kitchen and there is some unknown chaos back there or there's not enough staffing to do quality control. 5. Water came in plastic to-go cups with lids but my friend kept having water spilled all over her and the table and didn't notice until halfway into dinner that that there was a crack in the cup. 6. Not sure if staff is assigned specific tasks or they all work together but felt frustrating because someone would come to check in on the table but someone different comes back every time, so you're not sure about status of your food or drinks because you don't know who's actually handling your table. 7. Do not understand the freaking huge lazy Susans at the table we sat at that leaves you with a few inches of eating space unless you want to eat directly off the glass plate. Why are we having round lazy Susans on square tables? Typically you'd only use a lazy Susan if you mainly serve family meal style but most of the menu items are single serving type. After looking at some other photos I think only one table actually had a lazy susan and it's close to the entrance so I actually don't know what's up with that. TLDR not the worst but far from the best, there's a lot of other Japanese restaurants you could go to in the area

Pho Hut -- A Bowl of Heaven Worth the 35-Mile Drive…read more It had been quite some time since I last ordered chicken pho, and what a magnificent welcome back to one of my favorite dishes! I ordered the regular bowl--which, to my delight, was generously sized--but the true revelation was the broth. Oh, that broth! Quite possibly the finest I've ever tasted. Delicately sweet, beautifully aromatic, and exceptionally well-balanced, it offered a depth of flavor unlike any chicken pho I've experienced. Every traditional ingredient complemented the broth rather than competing with it, creating a harmonious combination that was nothing short of extraordinary. As any true pho enthusiast knows, the broth is 99% of the experience. And this broth deserved a standing ovation. Within the first few spoonfuls, I found myself regretting not ordering the larger bowl--not because the portion was lacking, but because I simply didn't want this little piece of culinary heaven to end. I deliberately slowed my pace, savoring each spoonful, hoping to prolong the experience just a little longer. My only complaint? Pho Hut is 35 miles from my home! Were it closer, I would undoubtedly become a regular. Then again, when a bowl of pho leaves such a lasting impression, perhaps 35 miles isn't such a distance after all. Pho Hut, you've reminded me that exceptional food isn't simply eaten--it's experienced, savored, and remembered. Bravo!
