We immediately put in our drink order (a beer and four waters) and within minutes, they were at our table. Love me an ice cold beer! We continued to order food which included one pound bag of shrimp with the whole shebang and two corn on the cobs. The kids opted to share a chicken finger basket with regular fries and a side of sweet potato fries. Everything came out quickly and was hot and fresh. The Burbank location is usually pretty crowded so this time I decided to place a pickup order over the phone. The process was quick and easy, they took my order and let me know it would be ready in about 20 minutes. I received a text when it was ready! I ordered 1 pound of shrimp and fries and both were really good! I appreciated that they included bibs, limes, and butcher paper with the to-go order which made it easy to enjoy at home. They forgot the salt and pepper but it wasn't a big deal since I had some at home. The customer service was great over the phone and in-person. A fun ambience, love crawfish from my Louisiana days and so I couldn't resist. Delicious but you need a lot to have your fill! Glad I got corn to go with it - should have had 3-4 1/2 cobs and not just one!! Remember to wear appropriate clothing or you WILL get messy. I hadn't plan to go here and so I was wearing a dress shirt (dumb!!!!) but luckily they provide bibs and gloves but the crawfish are so slippery the gloves are not very helpful. The staff were friendly and helpful but ordering is a real challenge - but we did it. Maybe 30% of my crawfish were a good size but the majority were so small it was virtually impossible to get the meat out and remove the intestines (esp with gloves) and actually have something left to eat. The best time to come here is right about when they open. There is a wait but it is not longer than 15 minutes for sure. Boiling Crab is always a good idea whenever we want to eat seafood. Service was alright at this location, had to remind the servers at least twice to follow up on missing orders. This is my updated review after finally eating and waiting in queue for almost 2 hours this bust past Friday. I ordered the gumbo with rice and the fried shrimp basket. My wife daughter and our friend got the snow crab lobster sausage and potatoes shrimp muscles in the whole shebang sauce mix mild and an order of the oysters. The food was great worth the wait and price. Service was quick and friendly very attentive. The place was nice and clean though we did sit at the outside tables. Everything was great until some passerby's made some comments towards me thankfully my wife didn't notice since I ignored them. The fried shrimp was juicy and not over cooked. I got the lemon pepper fries with my order and they were good just too salty but it's lemon pepper what can you do about that lol The gumbo was rich and not overly spicy. The seafood we got with the mild whole shebang sauce mix was delicious and not overpowering as you might think it would be considering the 3 sauces it's mixed with. If I could make one recommendation, this place NEEDS outside heaters. When I have ate outside here you feel the wind and if it's cold outside it makes for a brutal experience not faint for the weak! They do offer a handwashing station outside of the restrooms. The restaurant is clean! The food is well seasoned and I enjoy the gumbo and fried oysters with the sauce. This time around the 1 pound bag of shrimp was $18 and FYI it's not deveined so if you don't like to see the line of poop in your shrimp best to avoid now I like to order a side of steamed white rice to soak up all that extra sauce I also like to add lemon and the salt and pepper mix for some extra flavor. We've visited The Boiling Crab numerous times. The wait time can be extensive, especially on Weekends so be prepared to be there a while. This location offers outdoor seating as well as indoor dining, both are always packed. Indoor dining is a bit noisy but we prefer it. During our recent visit, our waitress let us know they now offer family combos! Finally!! The deals are pretty good so we opted to order 2 'Get Dirty' combos. Surprisingly, the food came out fairly quick. The first platter came out, looked amazing! Second platter came out, looked a little sad. Our waitress happened to be walking by and asked if everything was ok. I mentioned how the platters looked way different. One looked full while the other looked like it was missing shrimp. The waitress agreed and offered to have a manager stop by and look at the platters. When the manager came to the table, she asked what the issue was and I asked why the platters looked so different being that we had ordered the same thing. She tried saying one was a different combo, I reminded her that both were the same. The ONLY thing this manager found appropriate to say was that for every pound of shrimp on the tray, there were between 20-30 shrimp and the tray comes with 2 pounds. Ok.... Thanks?!? Clearly, I know what I ordered. I simply wanted to know why 2 orders of the SAME platter looked so different. Were larger shrimp used for one platter?? Did it maybe have extra shrimp? Is that something that happens often?? Who knows! At least now I know to expect between 20-30 shrimp per pound. I was NOT looking for a discount but I was hoping to receive a better answer. Although it was a Wednesday, the queue of 30 tables ahead of us was daunting. Yet, it moved swiftly and we were sat within 30 minutes of our projected 30 min wait (total wait of 1 hour). The menu is deliberately limited and offered a range or meat and starch choices. No salads here and vegetarian or vegans would starve. They were out of three major items but we were not surprised as we sat down at 7:45 pm and they had been busy all afternoon. The lemon pepper chicken wings were delightful. The shrimp boiled bag with whole shabang sauce had a nice sauce flavor but the shrimp were extremely mealy. With the head intact and no way to remove the vein, the experience was unpleasant. The cocktails were reasonably (taste, size, and price) and the server (Selena) was truly excellent with high courtesy and multiple check backs. But for my wife's bday, we decided to go to the one in Burbank since its closer to my house and hoping the wait wasn't too bad. We arrived at 5pm on a Saturday and it was packed. Fortunately, the host said the wait was only 20-30 min. We were seated fairly quick and ordered some snowcrab, dungenesscrab, shrimp, sausage, corn, potatoes, mussels, the whole shebang with the OG mild sauce. Everything was cooked to perfection but the sauce was the kicker. Not too spicy, not too sweet and not too salty. It was so good, I ordered a bowl of rice and mixed it with the sauce. We walked around for a bit to check out what else was here, then came back and waited to be called. We were seriously tempted by the ice cream across the way - but we didn't give in. After roughly 20 minutes, we were called in and got seated. We opted to sit outside as it was a nice evening. Unfortunately, someone was smoking nearby (one of the other customers?) and made for a very unpleasant situation until they left. Service was fine, food was good and everything came out quickly. We waited nearly two hours for a table, and 15 minutes before the issue happened, we had already checked in and were told there were only four more people ahead of us. When we went back to ask about our table, we were suddenly told they couldn't find us in the system. We spoke with Manager Elsy, hoping for a resolution, but instead of listening to our concerns, she completely misunderstood the situation and made us feel as though the mistake was somehow our fault. There was no accountability or attempt to make things right. Long waits can happen, but poor communication and dismissive customer service are unacceptable. Today was our first time at The Boiling Crab and it was Amazing. The food was so delicious and the staff were great. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. We were a large party of 12 and were accommodated quickly with a setup outside which I liked. The weather was great and the outdoor seating has view of the grove and people walking by. We had a bag with shrimp, sausage, corn, and all the sauces combined. That combo was delicious. In another bag we had 1 pound of King Crab (85 dollars per pound) just fyi the shrimp was (18 dollars a pound) and Snow crab, I believe that was 35 or 37 dollars a pound. Also had the plate of fried calamari and lemon pepper fries. The fries were super delicious! I love how the table cloth is paper and you just pile everything in the middle out of the way. Lastly our server was great and offered great insight on good menu items. My family and I will definitely be returning soon. Also we drove 2 hours to eat here and would do it again. I love the boiling crab concept and I think this location is great. My friend and I joined the Yelp waitlist before arrival so we were seated immediately. Some locations don't do the waitlist so this was an awesome perk. I usually get the shrimp and some locations can be hit or miss when it comes to that - sometimes the shrimp tend to be overcooked. At this location, the shrimp was cooked to perfection! The service was also fantastic. Our server checked in several times during our meal and even volunteered to itemize our receipt, which was super kind. Parking in the lot was also relatively easy on a Thursday night.
