Updated review... it's been a while since we came here the first time. Friends were having a birthday so we had to give it another try. Got here around 5:30 pm on a Friday. We lucked out and got the last booth before the dinner rush. The place looked exactly like it did last time we came. Staff was still friendly. They don't accept cash, only cards/tap to pay. Their menu looked different. Wish I had taken a photo. You have an option to build your own boil by choosing your protein, sauce, spice level and add in's. They still don't allow you to mix garlic butter and lemon pepper sauces. You're forced to get the Kickin mix which includes Cajun even if you're not a fan of that flavor. They also have a kids menu with 2 choices, appetizers and family combos. Always intimidating ordering from a menu that doesn't disclose the pricing up front. That's the weirdest thing. Even restaurants in Beverly Hills have pricing on their menus. We got the family feast which feeds up to 4 people and had a combo of crab, mussels, shrimp, sausage, rice, potato and corn which was about $107. (Side note, they charge 50 cents for a pair of gloves and they do not provide you with a little towelette to wipe before or after your meal) This I have to admit was a pretty good deal considering it's a good amount of seafood. They serve it to you in a large metal bowl. We asked for mild since we had toddlers, but because of the Cajun in the sauce (that they force you to get if you want garlic butter and lemon pepper flavor) it was more of a medium, and the kids could not tolerate the heat. Which wasn't a bad thing since that meant more for us grown ups. Ordered them a side of truffle fries which was not too bad actually. We also ordered some of their specialty drinks which come in huge cups. We tried asking for two small empty cups so the kids could share our drinks, but they refused to provide that to us. According to the waiter, it's the restaurant policy that they can only provide water cups, but we have to figure out what to do with the water inside. (Insert face palm emoji) Also they do not provide buckets for your shells so we weren't sure what to do with all that water but drink it. The cups are thin paper cups to pair perfectly with those gross paper straws. By the time we finished the water the cups were pretty mushy already. Needless to say we couldn't finish all our food so we asked for it to go, reluctantly as we hoped they weren't going to try and charge us for those to go bags as well. Pro's: they brought the food out quickly. The food tasted freshly cooked. Con's: don't know where to begin. Parking lot sucks since it's shared with multiple other businesses. There is no place for you to sit and wait outside the restaurant. You'll need to stand outside by the parking lot and pray you don't get side swiped by some crazy driver. Menu has hidden pricing. They charge 50 cents for gloves and do not provide wipes for after your meal. They don't provide a bucket/container to place your seafood shells so it gets mixed in with your other food on the table. Can't even ask for an empty cup for kids. They don't let you customize your sauces your way. Sad to say after all this time my review for this place is still a solid 2 stars. read more

My family loves eating here! We've tried other seafood places, but we always end up coming back. It's the Cajun sauce, it's just really good! The ambiance is warm and welcoming. As soon as you walk in, the staff greets and accommodates you right away. Everyone who works here is so patient, especially with guests who aren't sure what to order. They take their time, answer questions, and recommend dishes without making you feel rushed. And the drinks? The strawberry lemonade and their Thai tea are always my go to. My favorites are the Traditional Shrimp and the calamari, both are absolutely delicious. And thank goodness they brought the catfish back This is definitely one of our favorite places, and I highly recommend it to anyone craving great seafood, amazing service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Finally got to try this place and wasn't disappointed. We got a half pound of shrimp with the works, a basket of fried oysters with lemon pepper fries, and a basket of cheese curds. Everything was fresh and delicious. The seafood boil was perfect and not overcooked and the fried oysters were so yummy. It was my first time trying them! The service is also really good, they're super attentive and friendly! It's not the biggest restaurant it' so it may have a wait during busy hours. Market prices are steep for me but I had a gift card so it made it more affordable. I would come back more often if I had a bigger budget. I like that kickin Kasian has fresh oysters the option of fresh crawfish when it's in season. There's always a line every time we come. So i drop off my partner to join the waitlist then I go to get parking. We like to get the kickin mix in medium with the crawfish and shrimp. The kickin mix has everything in it and is jam packed with flavor. For me, it runs on the salty side. The prices have gone up over the years, as with any restaurant. They do offer the "year round" crawfish which is the crawfish that was frozen that costs less. Their service is OK and the ambiance is cozy casual. read more

For this being our first visit...every single of the staff was welcoming and friendly. Everyone greeted us when we walked in and as we walked out as well. There was a little bit of a wait which wasn't too bad. We waited exactly 16 minutes when I was told about 15-20 mins. It was a little hard to hear the hostess when she sat us but the waiter Colby repeated exactly what she had said. He was absolutely amazing and helped us with ordering and suggesting items. I've been coming here since they first opened, and honestly Kickin Kasian is still my #1 Cajun spot -- yes, even over Boiling Crab. The flavor just hits better. The shrimp are always on the bigger side and super consistent every visit. We usually order the Kickin Mix (mild) and it never disappoints. Their Cajun fries are bomb too -- lowkey mandatory order. Prices have definitely gone up over time, but people still line up for a reason. Wait times can easily be 100-120 minutes. The restaurant doesn't take reservations so we ultimately waited almost an hour for our table but it was worth the wait. Thankfully the restaurant has a texting system so we were able to wait some place else until our table was ready. We absolutely loved the options that we could choose for the seafood. My last visit was not as satisfying as my last (6+ years). The wait was expected to be long, which was more than an hour for a weekend. When we finally dined, the server was not quite attentive and was hard to flag. We were mainly there to get the shrimp boil. The sauce was very good, it still had the flavor that I remember years ago. However, the shrimp came out mushy and it felt a bit gross because of the texture. We chose not to bring this up as the wait was already long and the service was slow. I unfortunately don't think I will be back as the only positive I experienced was the sauce. Highkey once you try kickin kasian, you can't eat at the other seafood places because this one has the best seasoning so when you go other places, it's always gonna feel like it's missing something. Everyone is so friendly and helpful! This is the best seafood boil in Northridge! Although, it is a bit on the pricier side than other seafood boil restaurants, they really nailed their flavors. The shrimps are big and juicy. You can also has for as many lemons as you want. My favorite order is the topless shrimp, kasian seasoning, and medium spicy (perfect for a kick of heat but not dripping sweat), make it the works, and add a side of rice. I love their micheladas and thai iced teas here. They serve margaritas, soju, and other beverages as well. They get really busy in the afternoons, you might expect a wait time. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE.. so much that I'm willing to drive 1.5 hours to get here. The seafood is fresh, the flavors are mouthwatering, and the spices are FIRE. You know, I love me some STFU type of heat (which is exactly what they got.. literally called STFU). You do have to pay for those top 4 higher heats, but if you can handle spice then it is definitely worth it. The only down side is that there is usually a long wait since this place is so good. However, once you're in everything comes out pretty quick. They have hand wash sinks available outside the restrooms as well so you don't have to wait for a restroom to open up. Over the years I've been here with friends occasionally and family other times. Kickin KAsian has built a loyal customer following with its bold, Cajun-style seafood with an Asian twist. Apart from their traditional shrimp and green mussels, their baskets with fried items are pretty tasty too. Most seafood boil places have limitations on spice levels, but there's a variety of sauce variations - so there's definitely something for everybody! Be mindful of add-ons like okra, quail eggs, corn, etc. those tend to add to your bill quickly. Special shoutout to that cucumber wasabi sauce. Great flavor without the heat and tastes amazing with their battered french fries. Customer service is warm, friendly, and an overall delight! My friend and I came earlier today about half an hour after they opened. We were well-taken care of and the staff checked in on us regularly to make sure everything tasted great & that we had everything we needed. Long overdue for a review here. The food here is pretty good and definitely worth getting if you're having that craving. If you're familiar with authentic Cajun food it's not that (they usually boil the seafood in the seasonings and serve with sauces on the side for authentic) however I think that sea food boils in cali tend to go more this way (boiled then put into a bag of seasonings). The fried stuff is done well! And the sauces that pair with it are really nice. The drinks are also huge and really yummy! The only thing I'd say is a negative here is the wait is always super long and the area isn't what it once was. There was a naked homeless man sleeping in front of the restaurant when we went about a year ago. Doesn't reflect the restaurant itself but good to be on the alert about it you come with kids especially. Ambiance is okay! Not bad not anything that stands out either. read more

OMG, this is my favorite seafood spot in all of California! I come here all the time with my family, and we've celebrated so many birthdays and special occasions here. The bowl that we ordered teriyaki chicken was mixed with crab legs, green mussels, shrimp with corn and potatoes. It was actually cook and seasoned well. Kickin Kasian used to be our go-to spot for seafood boil, but lately, something feels off. We stopped by on a Friday around 4 PM and had a 45-minute wait--not unexpected for the time, but still a bit long. They do have a parking lot, but finding a spot during peak hours can be a challenge. For our meal, we ordered two 18-piece Traditional Shrimp ($22.50) with mild Kickin Mix, plus fried calamari and lemon pepper fries. The calamari and fries were spot on--crispy, flavorful, and cooked well! The shrimp, though, seemed smaller than before, and they skimped on the sauce, which was a letdown. Service was inconsistent. Our first server wasn't great, but later, another server took over and really turned things around--super friendly, patient, and attentive.
