First time here, and it definitely won't be my last. The food was flavorful, freshly made, and hit the spot. My coworkers ordered the Chicken Gangjeong in both the Soy Garlic and Sweet & Spicy flavors. I only had a bite of each, but both were juicy and seemed to be made with dark meat chicken. The Soy Garlic was actually sweeter than the Sweet & Spicy, which caught me off guard, while the Sweet & Spicy had more of a mild heat than an overwhelming kick. I ordered the Grandma Tteokbokki at spice level 2 and added melted cheese and ramen. Those add-ons were absolutely worth it. The cheese made the sauce extra creamy, while the ramen soaked up all of the flavor and turned it into a hearty, comforting meal. Spice level 2 had a nice kick without overpowering the dish, making it easy to enjoy from start to finish. Overall, everything we tried was satisfying, and I'd happily come back to work my way through more of the menu. This is the best tteokbokki I've had since visiting Korea! We tried the gimmari, Rose Tteokbokki, Jjajang Tteokbokki, and Grandma Tteokbokki. The Rose was really good, but it was a little too rich for me. I personally preferred the Grandma Tteokbokki. I also liked the larger tteok over the mini tteok because it was softer and chewier. Adding ramen and cheese is a must! The cashier was also really nice. Even though he was new, he was able to answer all of our questions and provided excellent service. The restaurant was super clean, organized, and had a welcoming atmosphere. We'll definitely be back the next time we make a trip to SoCal! read more

This is my favorite tteokbokki place in the San Fernando Valley. The portions are a good size so I usually share with someone and it is served on a skillet to be kept warm. My favorite flavor is the rose tteokbokki, but the grandma one is good too! I also like the sides they have, especially the new ones they just added--the soy garlic fried chicken. The food comes out relatively quick, about 10-15 minutes and the servers are really nice and attentive. I like that they provide hair ties and bibs if you are scared of it staining your shirt, especially if you're wearing a lighter color shirt. First things first, the service deserves a shoutout of its own. The woman who greeted me was genuinely one of the sweetest people ever. From the moment I walked in, she made me feel welcomed and comfortable. She took her time explaining the menu, walking me through each item, the spice levels, and what she personally recommended. It never felt rushed or overwhelming. Just thoughtful, patient, and kind. That level of care really stood out and made the experience feel extra special. Now, onto the food (because WOW). I ordered the giant rosé tteokbokki at spice level 1, and it was absolutely delicious. You can customize your bowl with additional toppings to your liking at their self serve topping station, making the experience just that more personalized! The sauce was creamy, rich, and comforting with just a gentle kick of heat. Which is perfect for someone easing into spice like I am! The rice cakes were thick, chewy, and cooked perfectly, soaking up all that flavorful rosé sauce. I'm already craving this, it was truly wonderful. The portion was generous, especially considering it's called "giant" for a reason. It felt indulgent without being overwhelming, and I could honestly eat this again and again. I also tried the rice balls, which were a great balance to the saucier dishes. It was served as a bowl of steamed rice as the base, with crispy seaweed and sesame oil. They provide gloves so you can shape them yourself, which makes the experience feel interactive and fun! You get to form the rice into little balls at your own pace, or bigger ones! They were simple, satisfying, and comforting. I personally loved parking the rice balls with the rosé sauce!!! The vegetable tempura was light, crispy, and not greasy at all. Each piece had an incredible crunch. It paired really well with the heavier dishes and added a nice contrast. Then there was the Dakgangjeong (Korean fried chicken) in soy garlic, which might've been my favorite bite of the entire meal. The chicken was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, coated in a glossy soy garlic sauce that was sweet, savory, and jam packed with flavor. It had that addictive quality where you keep reaching for "just one more piece." Seriously so good. If you try anything from their menu, let it be this and their giant Tteokbokki, of course! To drink, I ordered the Thai tea latte, and it was the perfect finishing touch. Creamy, smooth, and not overly sweet. Refreshing enough to balance out the richness of the food. I never really enjoyed Thai tea until now!! I will be back for this drink alone I think! Overall, this place COMPLETELY exceeded my expectations. Delicious food. I'd go back there again if the to go containers is more user friendly. It's a bit frustrating for me since I can usually only eat a little bit at a time. They seal the containers the way boba cups are sealed. However, with a boba cup, you can drink it with a straw and minimize spillage. With super hot food, you obviously have to open it much bigger. What do you if you can only eat a little bit at a time and need to put it away? I tried to somewhat seal it with a heavy metal fork, but it's still barely closing it. Finally! We got to try this new Korean food in Northridge. We ordered the Rose Taekbokki - level 1 spice and mini size of rice cake so that ny 11 yr old son can eat and its in bite size portion already. For an added extra fee, we decided to add instant Ramen, extra fish cakes, sausages, fish caske tofu and onions. One order of the taakbokki is actually good for 2-3 people eapecially if you put all the extra add ons. We didn't even get to finish ours so had to take some home. We also ordered the Fish Cake Soup, the size and portions of the fish cakes were all decent. It has a clear soup which I like but adding the fish soup sauce makes it even more flavorful!!! We also ordered gimmari (fried seaweed roll) it really goes well with the taekbokki and sweet potato tempura - right portion and decent size as well. We came here 2 consecutive days actually, first on a Saturday with just me and my 2 children and then the next day, with my husband and kids again. The service GREAT! I am guessing they are college kids and are so nice, sweet, attentive and helpful. You order the food from the cashier but they bring the food to your table. They also clean them right after customers leave which I think is good because it keeps the place look clean and neat. The ambience of the place is nice. The untensils and sauce area is very neat and organize. The area where the added extra topping are also neat and you can't see food spills around. They also have free plastric apron to use so that your clothes with not get dirty and free hair ties as well. This place is highly recommended and I am So glad that they decided to open this here in SFV - Northridge. A solid Korean soul food place! I tried their rose tteokbokki, gimmari, and soondae. The tteokbokki was flavorful and comforting. The tteok was chewy and the sauce was not too thick or thin. I opted for the mini tteok, but looking forward to trying their garaetteok next time! I tolerate spiciness well, but the spicy level 2 was a tad bit too spicy for me. I would choose level 1 if you are sensitive to spiciness. The gimmari was my favorite. It had a great fried texture and a chewy interior. It was perfect to dip in the tteokbokki. The soondae was a bit disappointing and I would not get it again. The casings were missing on most of the pieces and the noodles were overcooked, so it looked like a blob on a plate. The taste was not there either. I liked to atmosphere of the place and the disposable bibs/hair ties to keep yourself clean was a nice touch. Though the popular one is the garae and its long..suited for crispy and chewey. Each 3 are: Mil tteok which is made from wheat Ssal Tteok which is made from purely glutionous rice flour. For those who see spicy level 1,2 & 3 as mild, average, and hot, ..... You should know the Korean translations for levels 1, 2, and 3 say "average", "hot" and "DIE". You've been warned. I took one star off because one of the times I went service was like pulling teeth. If I hadn't been there before I would have left. Another time three of their fountain options were not working, and the Apple soda I was trying for the first time I asked if that's what it is supposed to taste like and I had to strongly suggest someone else taste it, and finally the girl took a little to the back and they came back and said no, and put a sticker on that to say out of order- so half of the drinks were not available and they said they couldn't refill/fix it. Came here on a Friday around 1 pm for lunch. There was parking in the large lot shared by multiple businesses in the plaza. We were greeted immediately. The employees were friendly. For entrees, you choose which tteokbokki dish you want with what type of rice cake. Then, you add extra toppings at the topping bar which are an addition $3.49 per QUARTER pound that you add to the price of the tteokbokki. I decided to get the rose tteokbokki (base is $15) which automatically comes with an egg, bacon, fish cake, sausage, onions, and carrots. I chose the small rice flour rice cakes. For toppings I got a little more of the sausages, tofu, wide glass noodles, and corn. It was an additional $10. I also got it level 2 spicy. I could have gone higher but there was an intense heat wave outside (high of 112F). I also ordered the mayak gimbap ($9.50). My boyfriend ordered the mara tteokbokki (base $15) with the large rice cakes at spicy level 2. It came with egg, fish cake, onions, and carrots. He added sausage, green onions, udon noodles, and corn. Also an additional $10. The food was ready pretty quickly. And it was way more than what we were expecting! The Korean patrons were sharing one dish between themselves which I think is a good idea if you do not want leftovers. We were happy to try 2 different flavors and took the leftovers home to eat the next day (the to go containers are labeled as microwave safe). The gimbap was delicious. I would maybe not get it again because you can make it at home or get cheaper ones at the Korean grocery store but these were definitely well made, just a little expensive. It comes with a light sauce but I also dipped it in the tteokbokki sauce. I would like to try other sides to do the same. The rose ttteokbokk was delicious. Creamy, savory, slightly sweet, and a bit spicy. Probably my favorite flavor. The sauce clung to all the ingredients well. Everything was cooked perfectly. My favorite ingredients were the glass noodles and sausages. Very very yummy! The Mara tteokbokki was also delicious. Numbing spicy and a little runnier of a sauce. The large rice cakes were cooked well too. I would get this again as well. Overall very delicious! I love more modern Korean dishes and this place hit the spot and is close to home. I've tried the location in ktown and tbh not a fan of how they weigh out the toppings and it adds up quickly, BUT the flavor of the sauce and chewiness of the garae tteok (long cylindrical ricecake) is unique AND their medium spice is actually spicy! Would be down to try the spiciest level with cheese next. Rice balls were a DIY style with gloves provided, and tbh it was saltier than I would've liked - maybe too much seaweed? But aside from that the ration of rice to radish was tasty and complemented the spice of the tteok well. Added ramen for $3.5. Worth! SO and I would come back for the OG. Stopped by during their grand opening today. Expected a line but there was no line at around 3:30pm. Tried the og grandma tteokbokki spicy level 1, mayak gimbap and soondae. Got everything to go. There was a bit of a wait but that's expected as it was their first day. Tteokbokki was good as expected. That is the most popular order here. It had a good balance of sweet and spicy. Be warned, spicy level 1 had a kick. Got it level 1 so my kids could eat it too but it might still be too spicy for young ones. The mayak gimbap was good but felt the soondae was a bit small. Decided to pick up dinner after work and this is the spot we chose. We arrived just before 6, right before it started to get busy by which seemed like all CSUN students. We walked in, one person sitting in the back and another who ordered ahead of us since we were still deciding. Lots of open tables and seats, ranging from two seater to 4+. Really good for a smaller group but may need to split for larger. The menu isn't confusing but I can see how the entire bar could be. It doesn't really tell you that the bar is just for toppings.. you get a big serving bowl which makes you think that it's your entire meal. Luckily my bf and I thoroughly read the menu but also asked the young lady worker for clarification which she explained in detail and also answered all our questions. The toppings bar had quite a bit and even had tteokbokki so I can see how it would seem like you're filling up your bowl for the entire meal. We didn't get any toppings and instead ordered a rose tteokbokki level 2 and a jjajang tteokbokki level 1 with added cheese and noodles. Order was ready in about 15 minutes like the lady said. We sat down and waited while watching the dinner crowd roll in. The toppings bar had a line and everyone was filling their bowls to the brim. It was insane! They all seemed new and didn't understand how it worked. There was a young couple who filled theirs up and by the time they got to check out, they were so confused when the lady asked which tteokbokki they wanted to order... it almost seems like a scam because of how expensive the toppings are too. $13 for the base tteokbokki and then $3.49 per 1/4lb of toppings. That's pretty insane. I felt bad for everyone who filled their bowls. I feel like smaller bowls would make you think and second guess rather than filling it entirely thinking it's your main meal? Idk. Maybe this is a common thing but it seemed wild to us. Food was piping hot still by the time we got home which was good, however, the packaging was weird. Giant heavy bowl on top, light rectangular one underneath so it was very top heavy. Too hot to hold on your lap in the car so my bf struggled to keep it in place while we drove home.
