I've been to this location many times, this is typically our go to Korean bbq spot and I think one of the best in the Valley. But this visit was by far the best experience yet. John provided exceptional service from the moment we sat down. We ordered the B2 brisket and short rib, and he stopped by our table to help cook the meat perfectly. It allowed us to relax, enjoy our meal, and focus on the company instead of worrying about overcooking anything. John was attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared. All of the meat cuts were delicious, banchan is refillable and on point, and the cold noodles at the end were refreshing and delectable. Great service if you are able to flag down the waitresses. It's unfair to add a tip without informing the customer, especially when I was charged for something I didn't agree to. The bill was originally $80 and unexpectedly increased to $94, which is unacceptable. This experience was very upsetting. After checking reviews, I realized this has happened to other customers as well, so it clearly wasn't an isolated incident. That's really disappointing. I used to love this restaurant, and my family and I would dine here often. However, after this experience--and bringing it to their attention--I no longer feel comfortable returning. Sikdorak isn't the best Korean restaurant out there, but when I don't have time to drive all the way to LA, it's one of the few spots in the Valley I go to when craving Korean food. The meat prices are reasonable for what you get. Today, we had a simple lunch set -- my companion ordered the Galbi + Doenjang-jjigae combo, and I had the Hot Stone Bibimbap. The galbi was tasty, the soybean stew a bit salty, and the bibimbap portion was generous enough to share. The lady working there was rather blunt and unpolished. Service is incredibly fast, with friendly and efficient servers who made sure we had everything we needed. It's been awhile since I've dined here. Took my cousin & her husband here for dinner and quality of the meats here are better compared to the other Korean BBQ joints I've had in the valley. We usually order the pork belly to cook on the grill at out table and the Galbi or Bulgogi we ask to cook in the kitchen. It's cooked evenly when cooked in the kitchen. Unprofessional and poorly managed!! We dined in as a party of 5, Ordered 3 entrees, which was sufficient for our table. When asked the waitress for banchan refill, she refused....explicitly stating that it was because we "didn't order enough food." This was not communicated as a policy beforehand and was delivered with unnecessary attitude. That is not standard practice nor acceptable customer service. An 18% gratuity was added automatically without clear disclosure or verbal notice. Auto-gratuity may be common for larger parties, but transparency is basic courtesy--especially when service is lacking. Management should take responsibility for how policies are communicated and enforced. Either staff are not properly trained, or this behavior is condoned. Neither reflects well on the restaurant. Quietly adding gratuity while limiting service creates the impression that customers are being penalized rather than welcomed. There are many Korean restaurants that handle portion policies and gratuity with clarity and professionalism. This restaurant is definitely not one of them!! read more

The food is good. No problems there. But they automatically charge an 18% tip for parties of 4 or more. 4??? Most restaurants charge gratuity for parties of 6 or more. My daughter went with friends one time but didn't look at the receipt carefully. She added on another tip on top of the 18% tip they already charged her. I was pissed but what could I do? It was my daughter's fault for not looking carefully. But I noted this in my mind so that when we go back I would make sure to look for the 18% tip they charge and make sure not to add in another tip. We went for dinner on new year's day. Food was good and seating were fine, as I didn't have high expectations for a Korean restaurant in the valley. However, the service made for quite a negative experience. Everything felt rushed, starting with little time for my friend and I to think through what we wanted to order. As soon as it came time to cook the waitress put too much meat on the grill and tried to get the remaining meat started before we could finish eating what was already cooked. We started to think we arrived too close to closing time, but according to their website we had more than an hour and a half remaining. They turned off the exhaust system two hours before closing so the place became quite smoky. Before ordering alcohol the waitress accused us of being too young (as opposed to just asking for our IDs, which we provided). I could have passed it off as a joke or compliment had the rapport been better. No refills on sides and before we could order for more food or drinks the bill came without being prompted. I would highlight the the biggest downside was when it came time to pay. I tipped what I felt was appropriate but the waitress badgered us into leaving a "minimum", which I have never experienced from a restaurant. Typically I have no problem tipping the minimum for average service and more for good service, but I didn't feel right tipping the *suggested* 18% for poor service (pay close attention, as the tip is already factored into the total). Overall I see no reason that I would go back and would even rather drive to LA. I recommend if you want to eat Korean food in the valley go to Hanoo Kalbi or Gen first, which is only a couple away. read more

We made a reservation for 24 people, but the seating arrangement was a mess, so we couldn't enjoy the time together. The service was poor as well. They kept pushing us to order combo menus for 4-5 people just because there were 4 people at a table. What's even more ridiculous is that the bill came with a tip already added under a different name, which could easily lead to paying the tip twice if you're not careful. Be sure to double-check your bill! They said the tip was automatically calculated based on a 4-person table. When we complained, they just said it was their store policy and never informed or asked for our consent in advance. What's more absurd is that when we paid the bill with 90 cents less than the total (since the tip was already included), they asked for an additional $1 saying they'd have to cover the 90 cents themselves. I refused. A tip is something the customer chooses to give, but they decided the amount themselves and even demanded we make up the "shortage." That felt like robbery. My family of 4 has been coming here on an off for a few years, we are always torn between the food and customer service. Today was no different. We order pretty much the same thing every time item B4, and on occasion the a la cart shrimp plate. Today as usual we ordered B4, a beer, 2 Arnold palmers and a coke. The food came out quickly, we get the onions and mushrooms to sauté, chopped salad, cucumbers, bean sprouts, radishes, fish cakes, rice paper, we usually only ask for 3 rice, 2 or 3 soups. As we cook our food, we typically ask for more fish cakes and cucumber. Again the taste of the food is great. However we always feel rushed, like the staff is continually walking by trying to cook our food faster, I actually has to ask the staff to not put one of our steak on the grill today because we just weren't ready to cook and eat it, we hadn't even finished cooking what was on our grill. As we tied down our meal with our last pieces they shut the grill off before we could even finish cooking our last pieces of meat and before we could even finish the check arrived and two staff members just stood there watching us eat, so I finally asked if there was a problems; which one of them responded to us saying "No, no problem" and finally walked away. We didn't spend more than an hour sitting to eat, and there wasn't a waiting list of people for a table. Again pretty disappointed, if we didn't like the flavors we wouldn't be coming back. My husband and I agree we are going to have to look elsewhere because the customer service is just difficult to swallow here. We want to feel welcomed, not rushed. read more

First time at Shik Do Rak. No frills, just some good old fashioned Korean dishes. Craved some spicy beef soup (yukgaejang) and seafood soondubu (spicy tofu stew). Hit the spot on the rainy Sunday afternoon. Both dishes could have (should have) been spicer but was still flavorful nonetheless. Both dishes came out piping hot. Plentiful banchan was served. Service was quick and easy. Prices were reasonable. Ample lot parking. Many of the other tables opted for meats to grill. Will have to try that next time! read more

The servers are pretty friendly, and they all speak English pretty well. The parking is easy and they have a big parking lot in front of the restaurant. It's meh~ for large groups. Terrible for dates. My date wanted to experience good Korean food, so I took her here because it was one of the few spots open on a Monday. We were in and out in 15 minutes. I've never been so hurried out of a barbeque spot before. The only redeeming quality is the food quality. It's legit Korean food and the meat was good, but it's not SOO good that I would come back for this terrible service. So let's break down their service. Starting with the basics - the heat and the grill. After turning on the heat and warming up the grill, I turned down the heat cause I could tell it was going to burn the meat and the veggies. I put it down to a medium high when the veggies were on the grill, but before the meat arrived. When the meat arrived, the server dumped the meat on the grill and adjusted the heat back to MAX without me realizing. As I was cooking, I noticed the meat BURNED and RAW at the same time!! Like, why?? We didn't get any marinated meat, but the grill was burning. I mean that's an obvious indicator that the heat was too high, so I adjusted it back to medium high. As we were enjoying and set some meat onto the side (away from the burn portion), a server came by and dumped raw meat on the BURNT portion of the grill. She dumped our meat onto the grill without us even asking!! That was rude, but she didn't even provide a grill change??? I moved the remaining raw meat as far from the isle as possible. We felt so rushed that entire time that we couldn't even enjoy the food. Objectively, this is a 2-star location. Emotions are soooo tempted to rate this a 1-star. read more

The couple that we went with our regulars. They absolutely love it! Now... We are fans as well! We ordered the B2 combination which is brisket and boneless short rib. It came with salad, soup (we got the soybean), onions & mushrooms, banchan-small side dishes, and rice. We also got an order of Japchae, glass noodles, and an order of pan fried beef dumplings (Gun Man Du). Everything was delicious and piping hot. The platters of meat were a great portion! All of the sides, banchan, were tasty and fresh. The rice was great! The dumplings were crispy and flavorful. The brisket was of good quality and sliced thin, not fatty or greasy. The brisket comes unseasoned. But there is a delicious spicy hot sauce and a salt/sesame oil dip that was so good! delicious! The boneless short rib were thicker slices of meat. A little on the fatty side but not too fatty. This was good too. Even the salad that was so simple (I believe romaine and some cabbage) was dressed in a light sesame oil vinaigrette (I think) was yummy! This is a split cost of $34.46 per person. +Since the majority of us were not going to drink and the B6 Combo on the menu came with Soju, our server gave us more meat to compensate +We were promptly seated and attended to which was convenient as it was peak dinner hours and we were a party of 6 people. +Banchan (AKA side dishes) were delicious. Their spicy cucumber was tasty. Finally got to try this gem! In my opinion this is a cozy old school Korean BBQ restaurant that offers a simple menu with a lot of quality options. We opted for the brisket and boneless short rib combination with stew. Pricey, but high quality. The banchans were excellent in freshness and flavor, their cucumber banchan is exceptionally delicious. Free refills on all banchans and salad. This is not all you can eat, rather it's focused on higher quality cuts. Service was great, responsive staff that understand what you want and have a nice flow. They may not get it in the blink of an eye but they que you up fast and get to you pretty quick. Well staffed establishment, they have plenty of workers keeping everyone fed, tables clean, refilling everyone. No one asked, but my opinion about the automatic 18% gratuity for parties of four or more... but I personally think that is more than fair. I tip 20% even if service was spotty, ok if someone really went out of their way to be terrible I might do a 15% tip, but that would need to be a really low blow from the staff.
