Starting out we came tried to make reservations online unable. Called in and explained we are attempting to try it again because our reservation got unexpectedly canceled due to their rodent closure on the 2nd. They give us a reservation. Before we arrive I get a text and say the the AC is out. Btw they opened the emergency exit to the garage so we had airflow, right next to where homeless people pee. We sit and the tablet the self serve bar is empty. No fruit, no veggies salad or any sides at all with. Closed sign. I asked server how to order sides he said with tablet, tablet was broken he said and order through him. I was unable to see what they had and trying to use yelp to view a menu of what sides are available. Seaweed salad never came, half of the other sides not available. Had to request server to show me on his tablet what was available awful experience. Same with fruit. I guess its only meats, no salads, fruit side dishes or anything. Self serve area had rice. Ordering meats: half the stuff never even came. And our time is up. One grill change, requested it multiple times. Remember AC also out fans blowing in our face table was cramped small, I literally had plates on my lap . Time for the bill: Server offers a promotion to become a free member says today is a promotion you get a free silver tier meal, but you are on AUTO renew so if you dont manually cancel the subscription you will get billed in a year, server doesnt explain so be aware. Scummy if you ask me. Most people will forget and for the server to rush you is just wrong. Ive been to other chubby locations with a better experience, but this was terrible. I live an hour away, and it is honestly worth the drive. I despise driving, to the point I have considered even moving to where public transit is best when commuting. I have wanted to check this spot out for awhile. Brought a customer for a business lunch. This is a AYCE Japanese barbecue specializing in Wagyu beef. They are located on the first floor of the Topanga Mall on the parking garage side. When you arrive, you add your name to the wait list. We waited for only about 10 minutes and our name was called. As you walk in, you are greeted in the front where they explain the options available. Basically it is 3 all you can eat options. Silver $58 per person, $49.99 if you are a member. Gold $78 per person, $65 if you a member and Diamond $88 per Person, $75 if you are a member. This gives you various levels of meat and wagyu choices based on tiers, as well as the sushi, salads, deserts, etc. with a 90 minute time limit. You can also get a lunch deal for $29.99, which includes basically a salad bar with some hot options, but not meat other than wagyu sliders, but not a bad deal if you prefer to spend less. We went for the Diamond level, had to get the most wagyu options. I also ended up getting a membership, which costs $58. This gave us $99 off our bill and a free A5 Wagyu steak. If you are going gold or diamond, it is worth getting as you get a nice discount off both, at the silver level it is a wash. Getting the membership is welll worth it IMO. Tyler our server was very cool, super helpful, made sure the meat kept coming and helped us with the tablet that kept getting stuck. He made the experience great, 5 stars. Make sure you keep ordering every 7 minutes or so to maximize what you can get, 90 minutes goes pretty fast actually. One thing to keep in mind, you can't take anything home with you and if you order too much and don't eat it, there is a 20% charge for the wasted food. Pace yourself. Inside looks like you stepped into a Japanese food market and sushi spots. The tables have a build in hibachi type grills to grill all the delicious meat. There are so many choice and everything was amazing, Wagyu was so tender, full of flavor and very rich from all the marbling. There are leaner cuts, but you can get a big mix and try everything. We ate and ate and ate, we enter briefly into a meat sweat and then nearly needed to be wheeled out, ha ha. It was a great experience and ever so tasty. Recommended you check it out, at least once, if not more! One thing I do wish is if they identified the various meats coming to you so you know which you like best and can reorder it. I was SO excited to finally eat at Chubby Cattle! I loaded up my Persian and Korean friends, and for this experience, we had one goal was to stuff our faces just one time a day! We planned this meal perfectly--an early 5:00 PM dinner, because my mouth had literally been salivating all morning just thinking about all the amazing food we were about to eat. My advice to you Don't mess around with the Starter food. Even though that little hamburger slider was delicious, I absolutely should NOT have eaten it. And don't go crazy with the rice either! Save that precious stomach real estate for the good stuff because you are going to need it. We ended up getting the Silver Tier for $58, and WOW... there was so much to eat. Milk tea, custard pies, more than five different kinds of desserts, ice cream, and of course ALL THE MEAT! Everything just kept coming, and every time I thought, "Okay, I'm done," somehow I found room for one more bite. The desserts were SO good, too. At this point, I'm not even sure if I was eating dinner or participating in an Olympic-level eating competition. By the time I got home, there was only one thing I could say: I'm so full. Came here to celebrate my birthday!!! I appreciate the staff for helping me out with my birthday reward bcs there were issues on my membership app. I got the Silver tier with my girlfriend. Our favorite meat rotations from the kitchen were the Wagyu brisket, thin sliced beef tongue, wagyu short plate, pork belly, & salmon nigiri. The top one for my girlfriend and I was most definitely the sliced beef tongue!!! The sauce was savory, herby, and full of umami, which helped elevate it . The salmon nigiri was a perfect size of salmon and rice. Makes me wish other all you can eat sushi plates could give sushis that size lol. The salmon carpaccio was refreshing to me and deliciously chewy, flavorful, and fatty. Overall I'm very happy with the experience here even though the AC wasn't working so fans were hot. We also had to wait to get seated for about 5-10 minutes which isn't bad but I think they weren't fully ready when we came in even though they had opened at 12pm and we arrived around 12:10pm. 5/5 to Joseph/Joe for being a great server despite the heat. Went in for our wedding anniversary dinner! Just wanted to highlight their amazing customer service. ( as a same sex couple we don't know what to expect interms of how "LGBTQ friendly" an establishment will be). With our experience we were delighted as first timers! The host Jennifer greeted us happily and wished us a Happy Wedding Anniversary! We felt welcomed and she took the time to answer and break down how CC's dining tiers worked. As for our Server Ferni did an amazing job cooking our specialty meats and making sure we had everything we needed. The high energy personality and accommodation made the experience even better. The dining is timed and you can order up to 10 items every 7 min but we never felt rushed and there's plenty of time to eat and enjoy. As for the food WOW we went with the gold tier for our family of 3. It's worth it. No frozen meat and all the self serve options are great! High quality meats, sushi and sides. Our faves included the wagyu steak, top blade, and our son loved the wagyu sliders! They offer specials for a membership and Ferni explained all the perks! The service was good from our host, positive attitude and welcoming, until he started to mention their membership and if we wanted to join five times after saying no. Earlier we called to get information before arriving and they can't even have a staff member answer the call, an AI bot was struggling to assist and answer our questions. Everything is ordered on a tablet. The amount of self service at this restaurant is nauseating, considering the price to dine in. You can order every 7 minutes until time is up. Ambiance is active and the upbeat music playlist is about at a medium volume. The experience is streamlined to get you in and out, I was not a fan of the constant badgering to join their membership, especially at checkout. There is an egregious amount of self service that could be handled by staff, for the price range, having everyone run around each other to grab drinks and grab items from the cold bar and other self service areas is strange. Well, we are happy to be 1st customer to be seated while they still setting up the bar area and etc. we try the chubby cattle tea milk while we are waiting. You can taste it like an essence of tea boba so delicious. They have silver ($55) $ Gold ($75) but join their member you have can order scallop and other kind of Wagyu beef or steak. We go for silver and have 90 mins to enjoyed as much Wagyu beef we like. Both of us did really take time to fill up our belly exactly 90 mins so full. My fried does really enjoyed the meals, telling me he will visit me a lots. I truly recommend all of you should go and try it out we need to enjoy our life eating good meals once in awhile. I got the gold tier, it was a nice option to try the "tasting experience" as it was our first time, but honestly could have done without it. This place is more on the pricier side, but for the silver tier, it's a solid opt. There were a few items on the menu that we tried that we did not like at all, it had to be taken away lol but there were a lot of items we did enjoy! Our server nick was knowledgeable and friendly. This is a type of restaurant where you order through the tablet and the food comes to your table, the server does come around often to check in on you and to change the grills. Jasper was also really good at taking away any of our empty/ dirty dishes every time he dropped off food. When I first arrived, I was trying to get the host attention so that I could get checked in but she is not welcoming and bit rude. She is constantly looking down at her tablet then walking away. Then just calls whoever is next on the tablet, not acknowledging anyone new coming in! Me and another guest were so confused we had to flag her down to get checked in which is so odd. I've never been to a restaurant where a host made us feel like we are an inconvenience to her!! Anyway,after we did check in, we had to wait another 20 mins or so for our table to be ready. As a huge fan of Chubby Cattle, I am incredibly disappointed to say that this specific location has been a miss ever since it opened. I've given it three chances now, and each visit has been a poor experience. After my most recent visit, I felt compelled to finally write a review. We ordered the highest tier (Diamond), expecting a premium experience, but our server, Kai, was completely rude and unprofessional. Throughout the night, he barely checked on us or cleared our plates. Instead, he repeatedly approached our table just to scold us about having only 30 minutes left. When last call approached, we placed a larger order to wrap up our meal. Kai came over and lectured us about the size of the order, warning us that we would have to pay for leftovers even though we ended up finishing absolutely everything. When we tried to put in one final item before the system even shut down, he arbitrarily told us he was canceling it because we "couldn't order anymore." It is incredibly frustrating to be paying customers spending over $600, only to be spoken to so disrespectfully about ordering food during valid service hours. To top it off, after dropping off the check and taking our payment, we went to get dessert. Kai approached us yet again and told us we needed to leave, essentially kicking us out of the restaurant. The discomfort of overeating is completely worth it. Anthony did a great job helping our party of 5 and we never had to wait long. I had a bunch of questions and he was very gracious and explaining all the different menu items to us. All of the meat that we got was very flavorful and he even helped grill the meat for us. For the restaurant in general, it's a really cool vibe and there's plenty of sides that you can grab any time, including seasoned veggies that you can add to the grill.
