Have been to this Wood Ranch restaurant a couple of times recently. Similar experience each time. Excellent service, really good food, and a nice atmosphere. It starts at the door with a friendly greeting and prompt seating. The waitstaff are attentive and accommodating. Honestly, I've had better BBQ, especially the meat, but this is at the of the chain restaurants. Perfectly serviceable and tasty. The menu is diverse enough for every taste and desire. My boyfriend and I would come every Friday night for date night because he loved the bread and I loved the clam chowder. But we have been coming less and less because the service is abysmal. There was a time where we gave our phone number and were never actually put on the list. Then there was a time we made sure we were on the list and after a 40 minute wait we checked in with the front just to be told the system went down and we lost our place. Beyond that the servers would just never come around to check on us. In fact I am currently writing this while still waiting for the check we asked for 10 minutes ago. For the entirety of the dinner our server only checked on us twice after ordering and one of those times it was only because we flagged someone else down. Come to this location often, great spot to take customers for lunch meetings. Love the BBQ at Wood Ranch, tri tip, BBQ chicken, ribs, I have not had anything I have not loved. The BBQ really makes it even tastier, one of my favs. The fresh baked rolls are a great start and just keep them coming IMO. Their peanut slaw is also always part of my sides, as you can see, I have lots of favorites here. Service is always attentive here, food comes out fairly quick, they keep the drinks filled and the bread basket full. Need more sauce, just have to ask. They do a great job. They have a full bar inside, decor is very ranch style, feels like an BBQ spot when you walk in with a bit upscale flare. Great for lunch or dinner, dine in or to go, food is always great. We had a wonderful family dinner on a Sunday night at Woodranch. Excellent customer service by our waiter Ian as well as the hostess that took us to our table and seats. We didn't wait long at all. As soon as we checked in the young lady, our hostess asked if where we would like to be seated inside or outside and we chose outside. She walked us right away outside. Our table and area was great. We were also next to a big heater. Our order consisted of the Buckeye Burger, James Crispy Chicken Sandwich, BBQ Sliders, Cab Cheeseburger Sliders, Idaho Baked Potato and Lauren's Mac and Cheese and Corn. Both the Buckeye Burger and Cheeseburger Sliders were tender and not over grilled. The beef was medium rare. The James Crispy Chicken Sandwich was huge and it was crispy and tasteful. Loved Lauren's Mac and Cheese and it was perfect with the Idaho Baked Potato. We also informed Ian our waiter regarding the food allergies in our party and he was very attentive and made sure to let the kitchen now about it. I ordered the Buckey Burger with Mac and Cheese and had a Tarantula Hill Liquid Candy beer. Our server Ian was well attentive and gladly checked with the kitchen about our food allergy. The Buckey burger was perfectly grilled and juicy. Bbq sauce was nice and smokey and not too sweet. The beer was a nice companion to the burger. The mac n cheese was delicious. Creamy and not dry. I came here with my family for a bit of a reunion and were seated quickly. Lighting was typical of a steakhouse. Seating was comfy and it wasn't very loud. I don't remember the name of my waitress but she was very patient with my uncle who was very slow at speaking due to his age. Food didn't take long to arrive and it was spectacular. The pulled pork was so tender and my sides were a baked potato/corn on the cob. Everyone else enjoyed their meal. They brought us an ice cream Sundae for my uncles birthday. One of my San Fernando Valley favorites. Note: it is one of the few chain/franchise bbq restaurants that offers beef ribs! Came here with my husband and sister-in-law. Our server, Ashley, was friendly and polite. As always, dinner is off to a great start with warm, soft buttery rolls. Cocktails are nice here. The Old Fashion seemed to be the most frequently served. Surprised they couldn't make a Negroni - they no longer stock Campari. Tried the Berry Smash which was refreshing and satisfying. We ordered a half-order of onion straws, 2 rib and roasted chicken combos (sides were fries, peanut coleslaw and baked beans) and 1 order of ribs plus the Natalie salad. Their coleslaw is my favorite of all with a light, sweet and tangy vinaigrette, peanuts and scallions. As usual, I ordered my ribs crisp, sauce on the side, but this time they were too crispy aka burnt. The chicken also was a little too charred although I hadn't requested any changes. Everyone else's order was fine. The restaurant has ample seating and accommodate large and small groups. A little too cold to sit on the patio at night but we look forward to warmer weather. Great family-friendly restaurant to visit before or after shopping at Northridge mall. They offer complimentary garlic rolls that are warm, fluffy, and served with a side of barbecue sauce. Came in on a Saturday night with no wait time for a party of 4 Our waiter Jr was upbeat, checked in as needed, and overall pleasant. Nothing but positivity. Browsing Northridge Fashion Center, my friend and I eyed Wood Ranch, and I agreed to revisit after not having been for over a decade. One of my favorites is their free garlic bread. Our original server was great and always checked in on us, from taking our order to checking in on if we wanted more bread. I ordered the combo brisket and baby back ribs with mac and cheese. The brisket was a bit tough / dry. Since it was thin, it was edible, but the dipping sauce was fairly sweet, making it less enjoyable. The baby back ribs were also lightly brushed with a very sweet sauce. The meat, however, did fall off the bone like the server had described. Halfway into our meal, another server came to check in our drinks, one at a time, and then dropped them off in the incorrect order. Towards the end of the meal, I went in to finish the mac and cheese, which my friend had also ordered. We agreed that it was fairly thick though runny, but there was a missing ingredient, almost as if it were missing a kick and could be better. Had not been to Wood Ranch in years, so we decided to stop by. I remembered the garlic bread being phenomenal and ordered it again, which probably was not the best choice this time. The food was not bad, just not as great as I remembered, and it was harder to slice than expected. I do have to say I love the shredded onions, those are my favorite. Came for their lunch special which is a great deal! You get 2 sliders of your choice, a soup or salad, and a premium side for 18$! I got the Tri tip bbq sliders, the meat was so tender and sweet from the sauce + with those caramelized onions!!! They were perfect. I got the Mac and cheese as my premium side which was so sticky and cheesy, exactly how I love my Mac. I opted for their soup of the day instead of salad which on Mondays, is the Tri tip mushroom soup!!! I have a fixation on this soup now because maaaan. It might as well be gravy. Came for a drink and ended up with appetizer as well! Visited on a Thursday evening, not too crowded and there was no wait at the bar. (Small wait for those dinning at a regular table/booth). When you first walk in you are greeted by the host who was very pleasant and welcoming. The ambiance is nice with slightly dim lighting. I found a seat at the bar right away and yes they have TV's so you can watch the game! The bartenders were all very nice and attentive and checked on me to make sure everything was ok. I'm not usually a fan of red meat, so I've tended to steer clear of Woodranch in the past - only going there because my friends love it. But a friend recently mentioned how good their chicken is, which I had never ordered before, so I decided to give it a try during happy hour--and I'm glad I did. Right off the bat, they bring out complimentary buttered rolls with garlic, and they are absolutely delicious. Soft, warm, and perfectly buttery with just the right hint of garlic. My friend and I both ordered the BBQ chicken breast plate, which comes with two chicken breasts and two sides. I went with the baked beans and fries, while he chose the corn on the cob and a baked potato, which came with sour cream and chives on the side. Everything was spot on. The chicken was grilled to perfection--juicy, flavorful, and beautifully charred with grill marks. The BBQ sauce had a great balance of sweet and savory. The baked beans had a nice smoky flavor and ideal texture. The fries were just how I like them--crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and well-seasoned. The baked potato had a salted skin and was cooked perfectly, and even the corn on the cob was impressive--charred, juicy, and full of flavor. Service was just as impressive as the food. Pat, our server, was friendly, attentive, and checked on us regularly to make sure everything was just right and our drinks were always topped off. All around, a great experience. Surprisingly good place to eat especially their Kids Menu selection. We had 3 kids 9 & under so they were able to find something on the menu. The garlic rolls were hot and amazing. We shared a cheeseburger and it was cooked to perfection, warm on the inside. My family visited the Northridge restaurant this evening to celebrate one of our kids' birthdays. We have always loved Wood Ranch and often frequent the Northridge and Moorpark restaurants. This evening, we had nothing but problems at the Northridge restaurant. Our waiter - Peter - was one of the worst waiters we have ever experienced at any restaurant. Peter first came to the table and said he was busy trying to clear up two other tables, so he was going to do that and then come back to us. That probably wasn't the best thing to say to start off the night. Maybe a more welcoming greeting like, "hey I'm Peter, I will be your server tonight. I will let you take a look at the menu and be right back to get your drink orders, etc." Once Peter came back, and began taking our orders - he stopped at one of our kids and started questioning her about her age because she was ordering a kids entree. My daughter had no idea what to say or do - and when my wife saw something going on, she intervened. Peter should never speak directly with a child/minor. If he has an issue with something, he should go to the parent. We never got refills on drinks and Peter was pretty much M.I.A. Once the food was delivered by other staff - we were missing one entree. As soon as we saw Peter, we waved him down and told him the one entree was missing. Peter was confused, then said the entree was delivered earlier and proceeded to walk to the other side of the table to look for it, as if we were hiding it. At this point, I got furious. Peter was now accusing us of receiving a meal that never was delivered. I left the table (and my meal) and went to the front desk - and requested to speak with a manager. After waiting a while, a female manager came out and I explained everything to her. Peter had told us several times that he was actually a trainer for the restaurant. I told the manager that if Peter was a trainer for the restaurant, they were screwed because Peter was not a good waiter and definitely was not representing Wood Ranch correctly. The manager said she was aware of what happened - but never apologized and was actually quite rude herself. After speaking with her, I told her to please remove Peter from being our waiter and get us someone else. Upon returning to the table, another waiter - Mario - came over and immediately was friendly and personable. Mario was a great waiter and assisted us with the remainder of our meal and visit. Mario is an example of a great waiter and Peter should actually take lessons from him. I gave Mario a large cash tip before leaving - and told him to make sure he kept it, as it was for him specifically. Our family will never return to the Northridge restaurant because of this experience. If we really want Wood Ranch, we will make the drive out to the Moorpark restaurant where we have never had a bad experience - and where the staff is friendly, accommodating and professional. read more

This is one of those places that feels like it's frozen in time, and not necessarily in a trendy, retro way. The decor is definitely outdated and hasn't changed in the many years we've been coming here. However, we keep returning for one simple reason: the food is consistently delicious. We started with the spinach-artichoke dip and the fresh salsa. Both were excellent! The dip was creamy and flavorful, and the salsa had a nice, fresh kick. For my main, I had the fresh Atlantic salmon, which was cooked perfectly. The real star of the plate, though, was the signature Mac and Cheese. It was the ultimate comfort food, it tasted just like a really good, homestyle mac and cheese you'd buy from the grocery store and bake at home. In the best way possible! Had a great experience once again coming by here. The hosts never fail to strike up a convo as they show us to our seats, and it's always a great first impression. As we are leaving, several also say greetings and it makes a difference. The chicken wings were delicious and crispy, with a good amount of buffalo sauce mixed with them. Our server was very nice and friendly, tending to our needs without us even asking! We loved the baby back slab of ribs and we were so full that we had to to-go the rest. Very disappointing experience at Wood Ranch. I ordered a burger that had to be sent back twice because the meat tasted spoiled. Neither burger combo was eaten, yet the manager on duty, Yvonne, refused to fully remove the charge because my son had picked at the mac and cheese. Losing a loyal customer over $7 is incredibly petty and poor customer service. There was no apology, no effort to make things right, and no accommodation whatsoever. Our sweet server burned her nail just for the candle what a dedicated gal I felt bad and lit it for her after this photo.
