Honestly I feel like this place is underrated. I came here with my friends and their 1 year old. It's in the village across from Dan Noodles, near 24 Hour fitness. It is a huge restaurant and I was surprised that it wasn't more packed on a Saturday night. The prices aren't horribly outrageous, and everything we ate was great and tasted fresh. I know I'm a little late to the game, but I finally made it to Saint & Second, having booked a business brunch for Saturday morning. First off, I have to give them major props for how they've remodeled and reinvigorated the interior since taking over from Lucille's BBQ. The decor is upscale yet comfortable, with dark browns and warm lighting making you feel like you're in a place where good things are going to happen. The hosting staff was friendly and accommodating, greeting me the moment I entered and seating us quickly once all of us had arrived. Our server was also very friendly, and arranged for one of my tablemates to have a salad she'd spied online that normally isn't available during brunch service; while that seems like a simple thing, it's the type of request that's often rejected out of hand, so kudos to the team for making that happen. That salad, the Spring Tomato & Burrata, was a visually arresting presentation of the titular cheese and tomatoes accompanied by basil ricotta, pistachio dust, white balsamic vinaigrette, watercress, watermelon radish, and balsamic gastrique. I did not sample the dish (I didn't know them well enough to ask for a bite), but she and her colleague really enjoyed it. For my own part, I ordered the Classic Eggs Benedict, which isn't 100% "classic,' as the eggs and ham are layered atop biscuits instead of an English Muffin -- and that's a departure I can fully support. Those biscuits were flaky and savory, with a well-balanced denseness: tough enough to hold up the ham & eggs + Hollandaise sauce, though also flaky and flavorful enough in their own right to appeal on a biscuit level. Eggs were properly poached, ham was tasty without being too salty, and the Hollandaise was rich without going over the top. The fingerling potatoes served on the side were nicely salted, soft on the inside, and the perfect medium for dipping into any erstwhile Hollandise on the plate. My salad-eating tablemate also ordered the same Eggs Benedict, and enjoyed it as well. Her colleague ordered the Old-Fashioned Pancakes, served with berries and fresh whipped cream. It was a generous and lovely-looking plate that clearly made her very happy, along with the lattes and cappuccinos they sipped on the side. All-in-all this was a nice, relaxed brunch with good food and friendly service. The only thing keeping me from giving the restaurant 5 stars is their prices. While our Eggs Benedict and Pancakes fell neatly into the price range one would expect at a nice brunch spot, other items on the menu came with some seriously hefty price tags: a $26 burger (more than the bone marrow burger at the adjacent Eureka), a $27 shrimp cocktail (more than at nearby Ruth's Chris), and $29 for spicy tuna on crispy rice (fully twice the price of what you pay at Katsu-Ya, literally right next door). I understand the difficulty of keeping such a large, nicely appointed venue afloat in today's economy, but I'm not sure I would return to pay those prices without being first told by someone that the iterations of these dishes at Saint & Second are truly worthy. This area got reboot about a year ago and we hadn't visited. Yesterday was the day we stopped in for their Social Hour (3-6pm) to celebrate my bfs birthday. It was pretty empty, but super clean and put together. We were able to pick our own seats and Lennin was our server. He was very attentive, polite, and personable. We exchanged some small talk and he was on top of checking in on us whenever he could. Great first impression! We both went ahead with the smash burger ($12) and side of fries ($3), along with a couple social hour drinks: mule ($10.5) and a cold tall beer ($6-7). The burger has the softest bun. The cheese melted so perfectly on the smashed patty, draped in the most perfect grilled onions and delicious secret sauce. A couple of pickles inside as well. Every bite was delectable and enjoyable! The side portion of fries were of value and crispy. Everything tasted so fresh and of quality. My bf inhaled it lol. The mule was refreshing and not watered down, even though it took me a while to finish because I was watching my pace. It was a hazy day outside, but the patio furniture is comfortable and the ambiance was perfect. I can't wait to return and see how it looks at night! Ok here goes.... Beautiful work inside almost doesn't look like it was Lucille's before.... Very fancy and well executed. Perfect date night, so my friend as in town and she chose the dinner restaurant, this was on my book marks anyway so I was really excited to get out on the town for a little adult night. We had an array of things like the mezze plate which was probably the best thing on the menu and I truly enjoyed this appetizer! The roasted garlic flatbread was nice and decadent on its own packed a crunch as well and the three dipping sauces were very unique and I loved them all! Came with baba ghanoush, muhammara with pomegranate seeds and labneh with honey! All were great so different from each other. Parker house rolls were ok. No big whoop for me, if you didn't eat the fast enough, they hardened. Then from the bar i was recommended the rainbow drink so I went ahead with that one i think the name was rainbow sherbet but that too was very sweet, didn't care too much for it but I gave it a go anyway. For the mains, we opted for a wedge with grilled flat iron and the prime steak and frittes. I wish someone would have told me that my dinner did not look like the pictures features on Yelp! Instead I got a Salisbury salted steak with super salted fries! Maybe it was an off day? I don't know but it didn't leave me coming back for more! I think the shishito peppers were nice to balance the salt but I needed more than two peppers for that! The decor was also a little dark, so the server brought us a little lantern, which helped a lot. The meal came with 2 glasses of champagne and 2 appetizers. After that, it was quite a long wait for our entree (beef wellington), so the server helped out with some rolls in the meantime. We got seated at a very cozy and semi private booth. It was an odd hour so we had 3 different servers for our meal. And they were all very friendly. So, I forgot to take pictures during the brunch because I was having a good time with some friends. That is my bad, and I will be as descriptive as possible. A group of friends and I decided to go to brunch pretty last-minute, and this place looked very good. The service was friendly, the restaurant was very aesthetically pleasing, the food was good, and the prices were pretty reasonable. We ordered the Yellowfin Aguachile as a starter for the table, and it was really disappointing, given a price tag of $25. It was very bland, it had no flavor, and it could have used some lemon or salt, or both. The chips that it was served with were nice, light, and crispy, but they did not help the dish at all. I would recommend ordering something else. I ordered the Shakshouka, which was flavorful! I did enjoy this dish, but if I think I would have preferred slightly less spinach, however, it did not take away from the dish. The portions are also fairly sized for the price of the dish, so you are sure to walk away with a full belly. To drink, I ordered the Cranberry Spritz which I did request to be made slightly less sweet and it was fantastic. To follow up, I had a regular Aperol Spritz which was also delicious. My friend ordered a Negroni which was also flavorful, so I can tell the Mixologists here know what they are doing. Overall, it was a great location, the staff was friendly, the drinks were delicious and the food was decent. I would return to give them another shot, maybe for dinner for this time. So we get seated outside and we take a look at the menu anddd they didn't bring us the HH menu. It did take a while for someone else to come check on us and we asked him to bring us waters and the HH menu. The menu was SUPER small. I got the blackened salmon tacos and shared the Moscow mule. The drink wasn't anything special but the salmon tacos were pretty amazing. The regular menu itself is also kind of small compared to other places. But, the place was clean, and well organized. My boyfriend and I had a lovely time celebrating Valentines Day at Saint and Second! We had very timely and attentive service despite it being a busy day. The ambiance in the restaurant with the lighting and wood detailing is so beautiful. We split the truffle Mac and cheese appetizer and we enjoyed the flavor but it was not our favorite. The sauce could have been a bit thicker and cheesier. I had the pan seared salmon and it was cooked perfectly, the bok choy and black rice complimented the flavors very well. I also loved the sauce on the side. My boyfriend had the steak and frites and enjoyed the steak but commented the fries could have been less salty. I came to Saint and Second to grab brunch over the weekend with my brother and nephew. We got seated quick with no reservations and sat inside. Our waitress was Veronica and she was kind of slow on the service. The inside of this place is very nice and you can choose between indoor or outdoor seating. I chose the indoor seating because I wanted AC while eating here They have separate menu for dinner which I didn't know before so we had to order off the brunch menu. I got the signature burger with fries along with horseradish on the side, my nephew got the same and my brother got the crispy chicken sandwich. Our food didn't take long to come out but I notice the bun had too much bread compared to the meat after eating it. The ketchup also had a weird aftertaste which I didn't enjoy. Our waitress disappeared after delivering our food until it was time to asked for the check. I asked her about the ketchup and she said the restaurant uses Heineken ketchup, I'm not sure if she got confused with the Heinz brand but it did not taste like regular ketchup. I would come back here again to try their dinner menu. Oh and their coke is the glass bottle so likely no refills. They also validate for 2 hours. read more

Celebrating two birthdays with family brunch. Located in the southwest corner of the Viillage (where Lucilles used to be), parking on a Saturday morning in the lot right in front of the restaurant was no problem. The restaurant itself is huge with a covered outdoor patio area that has a glass wall to separate you from the outdoor mall area. They have a weekend brunch menu that has several interesting choices not found on most other restaurant brunch menus. My wife and I shared the breakfast sandwich ($16) with bacon added ($7 add on). They split it in the kitchen for us which was really appreciated. The sandwich has steamed eggs, cheddar, and garlic mayo on a biscuit. Very pretty presentation. This was the least of the meals we got. The second dish we shared was the grilled provoleta ($19). That was really gooood!!! On grilled sourdough, it had seared provolone, grilled portobello mushroom, pickled sweet peppers, garlic aioli, and Italian salsa verde. My son over ordered on the pecan French toast ($17) so I got an extra birthday present of half his French toast. The French toast is covered with vanilla custard, brioche, candied pecans, and whipped cream. Wow was that good French toast!!! Because it was a birthday, they took our photo and printed it on a birthday card. Very cute touch. Plus they brought out a birthday smores dessert which they fired at the table (see the video).
