This review is for the Porter's House dining area at the Porter Ranch Whole Foods location. I am not sure why this location is so poorly-rated; I've never had anything but a positive experience here. On one occasion a friendly bartender helped me by concocting a deliciously citrus and minty mock-tail. My boyfriend and I stopped in today for a quick refreshment after completing some shopping nearby, and ended up sharing the fish tacos, which were decently portioned, and pretty tasty. It doesn't hurt that they were 11 bucks, and came with 3 tacos. My boyfriend requested some hot-sauce on the side, but he adds hot-sauce to everything. The drinks, and service were great also. I had a mango margarita, and he had a Paloma. Their version of a Paloma included Empress gin, which added a beautiful color to the drink, but I didn't find entirely necessary for taste-purposes. Whether you need to stop in for a shopping trip, or take a break from one, this Whole Foods has what you need!

Taps.

This is little "go to" place for quick drink and a bite to eat after work. It's located inside Whole Foods. They have a decent selection of beers on tap as well as wine and some spirits (limited). Porter's House will allow you to bring food and drinks (even alcohol) from the Whole Foods and eat at the bar or at one of their tabels. There are some comfy seats to sit in se well. They can accommodate small groups. Service here is pretty good too. I enjoy a glass of Merlin Nitro Milk Stout with their fish taco treo.

Our server, Carly, was really wonderful! She was very sweet and attentive. The manager (I believe) also checked on us a couple times throughout our dinner and service overall was 5/5. We were seated outside on the patio area and thankfully, there were heaters, as it got chillier than I anticipated at night! We ordered the side wedge, the buffalo wings, the smashburger and a side of truffle fries. The food was fantastic and came out VERY quickly (maybe like 5 minutes)! The side wedge is a perfect starter size and the smashburger was tasty and filling. I didn't love the cherry peppers on the smashburger but that's on me for not asking them to be removed. It was still good overall, just a little spicy. The wings were decent (7/10). The truffle fries were perfectly crispy with a good truffle flavor. The bill was about $40 for two of us (with no beverages). I would definitely come back (eager to try their happy hour).

We decided to come back with friends but on a Wednesday night at 6:30 instead. Sat at a table in the area where the music was but it was very loud and tightly packed with tables and guests. I could barely hear my friends due to the loud conversations, loud laughter, and just the acoustic affects in the restaurant were bad from that. We ordered steak, sides, and thought baked potatoes but got mashed instead. After we ate dinner we asked the manager if we could seat outside for dessert instead due to the loud noises around us. He brought us there but we had to wait at the bar outside till we were seated took an additional 15-20 minutes. After seated it was better than inside with a nice decor too instead. Dessert was ok service good. For such a high-ended restaurant and pricy food it's only avarage, inside decor pretty but very and tightly packed with guests and loud especially for a week day night kind of unusual, I was disappointed think it's a bit overrated sorry to say. I think Flemings, Ruth Chris, or Morton's are better food wise for the same price and dining experience and not as loud too. Think what could make it better is to thin out the crowded packed affect in the main inside dining area would help a lot too, or, if we ever go back sit outside instead I recommend. The service and staff there were very nice, friendly, and attentive and worked hard during service though. So overall raiting is a 3. Tuesday music night inside was good though think because the band is set up where tables of guests would be so less talking and guests listening to the music instead. Hope they make some changes to there inside seating there for improvements will and could help overall.

PARKING valet is available, but we found street parking on ventura blvd. FOOD 01. squash blossoms ($21 for 5 pc): 8.3/10 these were crispy and light, delightful to eat on their own without the tomato marinara sauce served on the side. casalena's squash blossoms had a strong, lovely hint of lemon that wasn't present in mother wolf's rendition. 02. chicken piccata ($29): 7.5/10 this main was served with a generous helping of potatoes mashed into a delicious velvet. 03. vodka lumaconi ($25): 9/10 this dish was the standout of the evening! the pasta shells were cooked al dente and coated in a slightly spicy, perfectly savory vodka sauce! casalena does not skimp on the sauce in any of their dishes! 04. tagliatelle ($29): 7/10 this pasta dish was not nearly as impressive. 05. tiramisu ($15): 7/10 since we mentioned the dinner was for a special occasion in our reservation, this dessert was served with a candle. while its presentation was lovely, its taste was underwhelming. the espresso was extremely subtle, and there was more madeline than mascarpone/cream. overall, our party of 4 was fully satiated after splitting 1 appetizer, 3 mains, and 1 dessert. service was lovely throughout! and as another yelpie mentioned in their review, their matchbook is very nice.

Total Reverse Catfish - in the best way…read more As a lifelong Valley girl, I'm going to be completely honest: I wasn't expecting much from this shopping strip location. I thought it'd be a tiny hole-in-the-wall, but **Main Kitchen** completely blew me away. It's actually a huge, vibrant corner space (looks like 3 to 6 combined spots) covered in colorful paintings. The atmosphere is immaculate. Plus, as an elder Millennial girly, the playlist was hitting *so* right--it was 9:00 AM and we were jamming to music straight off my own Spotify Wrapped. The food is a total "reverse catfish" because it is way more visually stunning and delicious than the website photos let on. It just seemed like a lot of the things were housemade, and you can really taste the quality in everything: * **Chicken & Waffles:** They didn't have any bone-in chicken today, so they actually served me the boneless chicken breast (which I think originally goes with the chicken and pancakes). But honestly? If you can substitute it for the boneless breast, DO IT. Way better, no messing around with bones, and hello, protein goals! It's a perfectly flattened, crispy chicken breast served over a waffle sprinkled with bacon bits. They added a little drizzle of maple syrup and what seemed to have a little bit of a thing like peach bits--I'm not 100% sure because I didn't give it enough time to sit on the plate to find out, I was just eating it all! It was so delicious. * **Tiramisu French Toast:** My friend and I literally had to pause and give it a moment of silence. We were just in absolute awe. * **Chilaquiles:** My friend is a total chilaquiles connoisseur, and she declared theirs the *best she has ever had*. To top it all off, the service was fantastic. Our server, Donovan, was so attentive and made sure we had absolutely everything we needed--we just really appreciated his great service! I believe this is a woman-owned small business, and the owner herself was actually the chef cooking for the morning! It is the ultimate spot for a Sunday morning brunch meetup or a big group. 5 out of 5 stars--I already can't wait to go back. Go visit Main Kitchen!

If you love Main Kitchen Bar & Grill, you will absolutely love having them cater your next event!…read moreRecently I attended a party where the food was catered by MKBG, and it was outstanding. The deli sandwiches, pesto chicken panini, and vegetarian wraps were all incredibly fresh and generously filled with high quality meats, cheeses, and perfectly baked bread. Each sandwich had its own unique dressing, which elevated the flavors to another level: bold, well balanced and anythng but ordinary. The potato salad and mac n' cheese salad were creamy, rich and full of flavor, making them the perfect savory side dishes that trully complemented the meal. The fresh fruit and salad platters were impressive on their own: vibrant, crisp and prepared with top quality ingredients. Everything tasted fresh and made with care. MKBG catering is delicious, satisfying and a guaranteed crowd pleaser. Highly recommended for any event!
