We recently held our Van Nuys Airport Pilots Reunion at Blue Palms Brew House, and we couldn't have been happier with how everything turned out. Manager Jamez Roberts and his team provided us with a dedicated patio area, including shaded umbrellas that were especially appreciated on a warm day. I really don't like giving 1 star reviews, but it is hard to find a saving grace from me and my family's experience here last night. When we got there, there were only a few tables with guests in the whole restaurant, likely because we got there at 8pm and they close at 9pm. But we stood at the front for a few minutes before anyone greeted us, and when we finally were "greeted", a man just came up to us and looked at us with confusion and didn't say anything, just raised his eyebrows. I said, "Hi! We have 5 adults. May we sit outside please?" He said sure and guided us outside to our table with not much said. We waited quite a while before a server came over to us, and it ended up being the same guy that brought us to the table originally. He came over to us and said, "Drinks?" It was sort of awkward how unwelcome we felt. That was pretty much our entire experience with the server: very slow service, and very few words. Once we put our food order in, we grabbed the Uno deck at a neighboring table to play until the food came out. That was actually really fun! But we waited for the food for so long - playing multiple games of Uno with 5 people and still not having our food. It was painful - especially since it seemed there was not much going on around us. Our hope was the food would be a saving grace here to our first time experience at this restaurant, but unfortunately it was not. My father-in-law liked his salmon dish, and my husband said the steak melt was decent, rating it at a 6.5-7/10. My mother-in-law said she liked her French dip, but barely touched it. My sister-in-law's short ribs had way too much sauce on it and too much salt, so she could not finish hers either because of that. My truffle burger was overwhelmed by blue cheese to the point where you could not taste anything else, so I also could not finish mine because of that. In the end, we all spoke about it and the highlight for our family was that they had Uno available for tables to play. But unfortunately we all agreed we would never be back. read more

The Place- Nice and updated. If you want to watch a sports game they have multiple tvs. If the weather is not too hot they also have a patio area. The service- Started off really well where the waiter/manager came over and was very friendly and helpful. The problem was that after him there were a couple of female servers who were not unfriendly, but you could definitely get the vibe off them that they did not want to be there. Came here for happy hour. It's a trendy new spot with great indoor and outdoor seating. The staff was kind and helped me with my alterations/ questions about the menu (the fries are cooked in a shared fryer.) As a Celiac, I was able to find some gluten free options and enjoy my time with friends, but this isn't a place that's necessary Celiac friendly--I fully understand that it's a brewery. Blue Palms Brewhouse feels like a literal hidden gem in the Valley; I have been to The Mix plaza a couple of times now and I had never seen it until visiting for a work lunch. To eat, I had the Tuna Melt, which was surprisingly delicious! The tuna was fresh and had a great savory and spicy flavor, the cheddar cheese was melty and had a fun cheese pull, and the bread was perfectly buttered and toasted. The service was decent; not overly hospitable but not awful either. The space felt cozy and comfortable, though it was a bit warm inside when I came in. Came across able Palms Brewhouse the other day while looking for a place for a late lunch. I usually don't gravitate towards brewhouses because I don't care for a lot of beer. There's a reason that they have food on their profile pic and not a beer. What a fantastic find in the sfv. The place is tucked in what you would think is strictly business district in north hills area but there's so much right here that I can't believe it when I pulled up. The brew house is nice and quietly stuck in a back corner with indoor and outdoor seating. Also important because the outdoor seating was shaded. Inside they have multiple TVs for viewing and the music playing was just as enjoyable as the vibe. They have a nice cocktail selection and while I don't drink a lot of beer. I know good beer and they have Enegren (IYKYK). I had a tequila cocktail that was delicious and a twist on a margarita. The food was phenomenal. I had a blackened fish sandwich. The tale stayed with some great pretzel knots and a cheese dipping sauce. Also what may have been some of the best smoked crispy wings I've had in some time. The staff were friendly helpful and fun. The service was good. The food was kind of bland. Didn't have really much flavor to it. My husband got the turkey burger, lettuce, wrapped, and I got eggs with sausage. It was called country breakfast instead of toast. I got a side of salad with Caesar. Did not have any dressing on it. One egg was overcooked. The sausage was burnt. The people there were extremely nice and wonderful. It's very loud in there so if you don't like loud restaurants, don't recommend it. There is plenty of parking. I was not prepared for the kick the Wild Boar Andouille had! I don't have a spice loving palette so, for me, this was spicy, but it was also tasty, which I could appreciate. The sauerkraut balanced it beautifully! I think next time I'd like to try the sausage sandwich on fresh baked Hawaiian bread with Honey mustard, sauerkraut and caramelized onion. Oooooo....! Friends brought me here. This is a nice brewhouse. With the other businesses, parking might be a little challenging if you come during rush-hours. There are lots of TV monitors around if you wanna keep up with your team. I tried their Brew Burger...it was OK, but nothing to rave about. I didn't get any sides with my burger. I did grab a couple brews. I can't recall which ones, but they were good. This place is definitely pricey. My burger and two beers, $48.29 out the door, but before tipping! This is basically a gastropub. But it is very kid friendly. Our 2 y/o granddaughter was with us. She was kept busy during the meal with her crayons and pictures to draw. I went here for a late lunch a few days ago. It wasn't busy since it was a weekday. I copped a squat at a high top table and perused the menu. The drinks looked good but I decided to save some calories and just had a glass of water. For food I started with clam chowder. I'm thinking it was a special since it was on a piece of paper on the table. It came in a bread bowl...it had lots or clams, bacon and potatoes. It was delicious. It could have been a meal with a small salad. So for my entree I had the lobster Mac and cheese. It was good as a well. Ooey gooey and seasoned nicely. A friend & I were going to meet for dinner and she suggested this place (as she lives nearby) Wow! $6 beer, a nut brown - tasty! I had the 3 fish taco appetizer & it easily filled me up and was probably some of the best battered fish I have ever had, no lie. We went back a few months later with another friend & it was JUST as good. Great service (same server as well) and fantastic fish tacos. My buddy and I stopped by Blue Palms Brewhouse on a Thursday for some drinks and to grab some food. I have to say it's a pretty cool place. The place was happening during lunch hour. They have happy hour from Monday- Thursday 3-6pm. The HH menu looks pretty decent. They have a decent beer on tap as well. As for the food we ordered a couple sides and dishes to share. We ordered their fries and onion rings. It was decent. Just wish their onions ring portions were bigger. It only came with 6-7 rings. Beer Steamed Mussels- Good size portion to share. This place is truly hidden at the back of the plaza, and it feels like a local secret. Our experience was mostly positive, with one clear miss. The curry coleslaw is a MUST ORDER. It was so uniquely flavorful that I couldn't stop eating it and was practically full from it alone! The calamari was also perfectly crispy. My lobster mac & cheese was a highlight, rich and creamy without being overly salty, which I really appreciated. My husband was disappointed with his truffle burger, finding the flavor unbalanced.
