Ooh, this is elevated, but still down the earth good Korean cuisine! A lot of us tend to think Ayce KBBQ when it comes to Korean food but restaurants like Jin Cook is still a great spot to have delicious Korean food! In particular, the Bulgogi Hot Stone is just so good here. The beef had the perfect balance of that rich marinated Bulgogi flavor without the heaviness or feeling it's overly drenched. Everyone enjoyed their dishes, and the ambience is warm and welcoming. Service can be a little slower, but it was surprisingly busy for a Tuesday night, so expect a more relaxed pace. Thankfully, the food didn't take long though!
Pretty good spot for Korean comfort food. My wife and I shared the Korean short ribs and the spicy tofu soup. The ribs were on the fatter side, but were nicely marinated and very delicious. The tofu soup too, was very yummy, flavorful and with a perfect level of spice. The banchan that were served tasted fresh and delicious, however, I'd prefer a bigger selection. The place itself has darkened lighting, a lot of wooden elements and regular tables, as well as booth seating. The customer service was very solid. We will be back for more!
There are Jin Cooks everywhere but Porter Ranch is the only in SF Valley. I have visited Buena Park many times and that was one voted the best Korean food in OC. Porter Ranch meets the same high expectations. This is located in the same large parking lot with Chevron, liquor store and former Amazon grocery store. This place can get very busy during dinner hours so be prepared to wait. I wanted to order beef short ribs and dumplings but my table was not having that but that is okay. We ordered Bulgogi pancake that was so huge (enough for 4 people alone). Freshly marinated bulgogi with green onions veggies and crispy exterior. Second plate was Kraft Katsu that has delicious crispy chicken, salad, rice and gravy. All the spices were added correctly which is so satisfying. So far this is my favorite plate. Last dish is Ddukbokki (freshly made noodles with ramen). Warning this is extremely spicy even though we ordered mild but I loved this noodle dish. All dishes you must top off with all the pickled kimchi of course. The kimchi is a top seller here that you can buy. All dishes are pretty big and enough for 2-3 people. Prices have gone up but every restaurant has. FYI if you need take out containers there is a 50 cents charge.
I'm so used to going to Koreatown or even Sawtelle for Korean tofu soup. But for Father's Day I wanted to try something different...and Jin Cook was really good. I ordered the tofu soup with beef and had it medium spicy. The beef in the soup were small pieces of brisket rather than sliced beef like most tofu houses. The soup also had a good flavor to it without being overwhelmingly salty. I would come back just for this. This bulgogi was okay - slightly dry with little flavor. The bone broth soup was a hit. Light on flavor but sometimes that's what you want. It was served with lots of sliced beef. The tteok-bokki is not my favorite dish but everyone seemed to like it. Lots of sausage, thick pieces of sliced pork, and the cylinder shaped rice cakes topped with ramen. The sauce tastes like fancy ketchup to me. Definitely not my thing. The banchan was light with four small dishes but my favorites like kimchi and bean sprouts were there. I would definitely come back especially if I'm ever in the area. There's plenty of parking and the staff is attentive.
This is a great spot. I enjoyed the Braised Beef Short Rib as well as their Marinated Dumplings. The other options which are great choices would be the Bibimbap Hot Stone as well as the Spicy Pork Hot Stone. The options are just as flavorful. The staff is friendly and helpful as they will provide assistance with and questions or suggestions. Parking is in the lot.

Their sides are really good as well and complement whatever you order. I also get the bulgogi sauce which makes it even better. Can't wait to go back.
We've been to other locations and they all seem very popular. The food is delicious, but be prepared to wait at minimum 20 minutes. The restaurant is a bit small, but they have many tables inside. The Staff were very attentive, helpful and nice. We ordered the Katsu plate combo with a side of curry, and the spicy tofu seafood soup. The katsu came out hot and crispy, yet tender inside, but I would pass on the curry sauce. The sauce didn't have much flavor and was bit runny. The tofu soup was delicious and you can choose how spicy you want it. The side dishes were very flavorful and fresh. Overall, a good place to eat if you're craving some Korean food. We'll definitely come back! Happy Nom Nom!
Tried again to give another chance. First time to try galbi. Taste was ok.. but really pricy. $34 + tax for 3 slices. WOW. Unbelievable. I'll go to other restaurants to get more slices (4-5 slices) than here.
Tried Jin Cook in Porter Ranch and overall had a good experience. The inside décor is really cute cozy, warm lighting, nice artwork, and comfy booths that give it an authentic vibe. It does get busy, but there's plenty of parking in the plaza (the host told us around 3pm is the least busy time). We ordered the short ribs, which were delicious, juicy, well marinated, and served on a bed of onions with white rice. Definitely the highlight of the meal. The side dishes were all good too. I was a bit disappointed with the bulgogi pancake though. There wasn't enough bulgogi and it felt like it was drowning in heavy batter. I personally prefer thinner, crispier pancakes where you can really taste the ingredients, and this one felt bulky and a bit oily to me. Portion is huge though, definitely shareable. The marinated dumplings were another popular item. They were good, but I wish they were crispier or came with a dipping sauce..I probably wouldn't order those again. Overall, good food and a nice vibe. I plan on coming back to try the bulgogi plate and tteokbokki next time.
Wanted to try a new Korean spot, and this place certainly did not disappoint! Ordered the Marinated Dumplings, Bulgogi Hot stone, and Rose Tteokbokki. In total it came to around $75 not including tip. Pretty pricey but the food was tasty. Next time I would order the other Tteokbokki since the Rose wasn't very spicy. Food came in a timely manner and our waiter was friendly. The restaurant place was very welcoming and cozy. Would come here again!
This is my second time to Jin Cook and at this location. Everything was okay. Weirdly the food came out hot but didn't stay warm for long. The banchan was okay... it seemed like the pickling process wasn't long and lacked flavor. The tteokbokki tasted like it was from the frozen section. The portions are definitely shareable. We got 4 items for two people and had plenty of left overs. Last time I was here it was good so hoping it was just an off day for them
I need to write a review quick so I don't forget! Went to Jincook a few weeks ago on a Sunday and the wait was about 20 mins for 2 at around 6ish. Not too bad! We put our name down, they took our phone number and we went to Amazon Fresh next door to get some stuff. Then they texted us sooner than anticipated, yay! Here's what we got: - Spicy Pork Hot Stone 5/5 next time, we'll definitely add a fried egg! Haven't tried it with cheese yet - Rose Tteokbokki 4/5 thank god it's milder than the classic one bc I can't handle it when it's too spicy :') I definitely enjoyed this one but wasn't a big fan of the bacon. I couldn't even finish it, so much rice cakes and noodles lol I feel like I would've preferred the toppings from the classic Tteokbokki dish - Jinro Tok Tok Peach 5/5 this drink helped since we were so full! It was sweet and delicious too

This review is long overdue because Jin Cook is honestly one of our absolute favorite restaurants in the Porter Ranch area! The staff is always friendly, attentive, and punctual, and the food is consistently amazing. Every bite is packed with flavor, and you can really tell that care goes into every dish. Our favorites are the Bulgogi Hot Stone, Mushroom Japchae, and the dumplings, which literally melt in your mouth. Everything we've tried has been delicious, but these are the dishes we keep coming back for. They also serve a really soothing Korean corn tea, which is such a nice touch if you'd rather enjoy a warm drink with your meal instead of water. Overall, we've always had a great experience here. Jin Cook has definitely become a staple in our community, and we're so lucky to have such a great restaurant nearby. Highly recommend! read more

I really enjoy coming to Jin Cook. The food is delicious, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, making it a lovely place to sit down and enjoy a meal. It's the kind of restaurant that leaves you happy you came, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys Korean food! read more

Came in around 3:30 pm on a Tuesday Lots of parking available Was empty when arrived Ordered the brisket hot stone and jalapeño cheese Katsu Our server was very nice also very good as multitasking! Food came out really hot! My only tip if you get the brisket hot stone is to mix when you get it! I took photos and waited for my partners food and the sauce got burned and the stone wasn't hot enough to cook the red onions and bean sprouts the way I liked. Location 4 stars: In the old Porter Ranch shopping plaza in Porter Ranch, California, Southeast corner of Tampa and Rinaldi. Plenty of free parking. Venue 3 Stars: Jincook operates about 7 Korean comfort food (they call it Korean Soul Food) restaurants in the LA area. This location is a nicely decorated, smaller sized venue. It used to be our neighborhood Greek restaurant for decades. Inside tables and booths only. Mostly smaller tables of up to 4 seats, although I have seen a few 6 seaters. No outdoor seating. This Jincook location is quite popular and the venue is too small for the crowd size, resulting in 30~45 minute and sometimes longer wait. There is no formal waiting area; only a few chairs outside. This can be detrimental in inclement weather. They do not take reservations either. Service 3 stars: Servers are polite and efficient. My biggest issue with their service (and this happens every time) is that the main plates arrive at drastically different times, meaning that some people's food will get cold while waiting for the others' foods to arrive. For me, this ruins the dining experience. Most restaurants are able to manage this and "time" a table's main plates to all arrive at the same time... Not sure why they cannot? Food 5 stars: Excellent, creative and tasty food with nice plating. Prices are on the high side but the portions are quite large! The many soups, the barbequed pork, bulgogi, kalbi, the sizzling hot stone plates, and the many options of curry and Katsu are all delicious. I go to Jincook often and I don't remember having any food there that I did not like. Drinks 3 stars: Very limited menu of 1 kind of beer, 2 kinds of Soju and some Korean and regular soft drinks. The Bottom Line 4 Stars: Excellent Korean comfort food! The wait situation, the drink menu and the food timing (details above) need some work. read more

came here while visiting family. 3 of us arrived around 2pm for a late lunch. we only ordered 2 items as we're not that hungry. beef bone soup and a bulgogi bowl. about 5 dishes of banchan (side dishes) were served along with a bowl of rice when the beef bone soup was served. the soup has a lot of beef slices and some noodles so we split it three ways. soup was flavorful, supposed to add your own salt to flavor but my mom and aunt thought it was good enough. beef slices are a little dry. I meant to order bibimbap hot stone with beef, but misunderstood the server and ordered bulgogi hot stone instead. the dish came with a bowl of rice in the middle and stir fried beef with onion around the rice on a hot stone dish. the beef was flavorful with a tinge of sweetness, but the meat was tough to chew on. The portion was big that the three of us can only finish 1/2 the order. the service was good as the server kept checking on us and added extra banchan and hot water on demand. price is average of $20+/dish as Korean food are always more expensive. our bill was ~$50. read more

I love the traditional Korean interior! You can easily pretend you're stopping by, on your journey to Seoul, to get a meal in the Joseon dynasty. The service is quick and friendly, just my style. The Korean dishes have a slight twist and I love it. The truffle mushroom japchae is especially good. The banchan variety is superb as well. Free parking lot and clean restrooms, too. read more

On today's visit for some reason the staff was unattentive. Didn't come to check on us at all, we had to flag them down when we wanted ice, a fork, to order something else, we also wanted to ask for more ginger but they would all pass by fast and make no eye contact. I waved out waiter down because we ordered the cold spicey noodles *boy knowing they were black and slimmy. Didn't like the noodles and wanted to order another Chicken Katsu, it was darn near impossible to get the waiters attention, they were talking amount themselves in the back, and a hand gesture wasnt getting their attention. It was giving "manager isn't here today so we are going to just hang back and chill, chit chat amoungst eachother and not put in effort into our tables. I don't think waiters relax that its their job to atleast ask their table at the least 1 time if everything is ok, your customer/table shouldn't have to hunt you down, or walk to the back to get some help. The last visit here the young lady was so attention she asked 3x if we were good and she asked if we needed more ginger or anything and attention with brining a to go box and the bill without having to be asked. Service like that makes a big difference and always leave a big tio for that service. The katsu was good as per usual and the dumplings were also good! read more

Wow wow wow wow !!!! I was pleasantly surprised with how delicious everything was!! The pork came out SIZZLING hot!! Everything had great flavor! Portions are HUGE one plate is enough for 2-3 people. It is a bit of a wait for the food to come out but it is so worth it! read more
My first time here and won't be the last for sure. Met my family here for dinner and we had a blast. Everything was so delicious. My sister has been here a few times and always told me that I have to try it and finally I did earlier tonight. The food was flavorful and tasteful. The fermented starters were amazing. The noodles , the dumplings, short ribs ... yummmmmmmm.... Great customer service as well. Very cozy and nice ambiance. I really loved this place. Can't wait to go back. read more
The Place- Clean and nice. The Service- Friendly and attentive. The Food- Korean BBQ Short Rib- Good and recommended. Spicy Pork- Very good and highly recommended is you like some spice. Rose Tteokbokki- Good and recommended. Spicy Pork Hot Stone- This is basically the same as the Spicy Pork but a little bit smaller and served in a hot stone bowl. Very good and recommended. jin cook is my favorite korean spot in the valley! from the intimate seating, to great service, to BOMB food!!! i usually have difficulty finding vegetarian options at korean restaurants, but there are a couple here, and service was great in helping me customize my order and informing me which banchan items were vegetarian :) we were able to get the rosè tteokbokki without meat/fish, which is so hard to find!! it was absolutely delicious, i had never had ramen noodles with tteokbokki before! the vegetable bibimbab was the perfect entree, with a nice assortment of vegetables available. i already can't wait to come back! read more
First time trying Jin Cook and we really enjoyed it! The staff was super friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. There's also plenty of parking in the strip mall area. We loved the variety on the menu and the portion was good. Everything we tried was really tasty, especially the beef short rib (Galbi) and the spicy pork served on a hot stone with a fried egg on top. The tofu (soon dubu) beef soup was comforting and full of flavor, and the marinated dumplings we ordered as an appetizer were delicious. The side dishes (banchan) were also very good and complemented the meal. Overall, a great first experience. We'll definitely be coming back! read more
We wanted to try this restaurant because of the cute booths and food reviews. We waited for like 10-15 mins on this popular Sunday night for family dinner. Service was very friendly and attentive. Food came out fresh and hot. The atmosphere was busy and fun-filled with families and friends visiting together. We had Peach TokTok (cocktails), Marinated Dumplings, Garlic Soy Chicken, Rose Tteokbokki, and Caramel Hottok (dessert). Plenty of shopping plaza parking. No extra surcharges for paying with a credit card. It was so delicious with nice service- that we'll be back. Thank you for everything! read more
What a great spot in the valley to get some really good Korean food! The spicy pork was well seasoned and, in my opinion, not actually spicy, so if you've been wanting to try it but are scared of spice, you'll probably be okay lol. The bulgogi wasn't too sweet, which was great because that's something I always notice at other places. The army stew was basically ramen dressed up with Spam and hot dogs; I wouldn't get it again, but it didn't ruin my experience at all. It's pretty cozy inside, and the store's design is intriguing. Jin Cook has quickly become one of my go-to spots for Korean comfort food. I got the Chicken Curry Katsu, and it was a 10/10 easily the best curry I've ever had. The flavor is rich and bold, served piping hot with a perfectly crispy, juicy chicken cutlet. The portion is huge and super satisfying. It's also become my personal hangover cure whenever I really need something comforting and hearty, this curry hits every time. The marinated dumplings were another standout. Crispy on the outside, flavorful on the inside, and a great portion, plenty to share (if you're feeling generous). I also tried the bulgogi, which is classic and tender, well seasoned, and always hits the spot. The service is quick and efficient, which makes the whole experience even better, especially when you're hungry. They also offer soju, sake, and beer, which is great if you're looking to unwind or pair your meal with something light. The interior has a traditional Korean design, which adds to the authentic, cozy feel of the place. Jin Cook, is an authentic Korean eatery chain, that also has a location, in Porter Ranch. The dining place is small, but elegantly appointed, with a flood of Koreans and local people. Therefore, getting a table may not be easy, especially if you are dining solo like me. Yes, tables are reserved for parties or two or more. However, I was lucky this time and was seated within minutes. The complimentary side dishes that begin the meal, 5 of them, are fantastic. My favorites were the cucumber, onions and bean sprouts. The last time I was here, I had the Bulgogi hot stone. This time, I wished for something different and chose the Katsu Combo (Fish and Chicken). Both the pieces were superbly prepared. Nice crunch on the outside, a crisp mouthfeel and moist on the inside. There were two sauces. One a tartare, that was ideal for the fish Katsu. The other, a red sauce, for the chicken Katsu I presume, was not impressive. I ordered a side of the curry ($5), thinking I would use it for the chicken. Unfortunately, it did not hit the mark for me, either. Rice and Cole slaw that came with the dish, were both fantastic. This place is popular because it gets filled very fast. I had a lunch date with a friend for her birthday at Jin Cook (Porter Ranch). The service was great and the food was good. However, I was bit disappointed with the size of their Soondubu - it was very small compared to other places. I was also not a fan of the beef bulgogi (it was too sweet for me). I will stick to their beef rib stew and pork katsu next time. I've had both and they are very good. read more

Jin Cook makes me wish I could give more than 5 stars on Yelp. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, clean, and seating was comfortable as well. Servers were kind and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious. Our food was brought to our table pretty quickly despite being busy. Overall, my favorites were the marinated dumplings and bulgogi hot stone. Everything was super flavorful and fresh, and I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
