Oh man, I love this place. I've been twice now (forgot to review the first time) and both were solid hits. First off, the fried catfish and beignets are great, but that was last time. This time, I got the buffalo wings, and I definitely love this thicker crunchier breading. The plate has 6 of them and a mountain of fries, and it was too much for me to finish... The owner clearly loves what he does, and it shows in his food. Minor gripe, the buffalo wings have a very sticky sauce, and they don't have wetnaps, so... bring your own I guess. read more

I haven't really tried many new orleans food in my life that's why when I saw this one located inside westfield topanga, I said to myself I have to have it. It is actually my second time eating here, just forgot to review the first time. During that time, we ordered the combo fish and chicken with fries and the side of shrimp and they were very good. This time they have the mac and cheese lobster, this one was the best! i love it! Taste was different from what i had before, it was unique!! And again i had to order the shrimp again, that one was bomb! A bit on the salty side but i guess that's how a creole in new orleans taste like.. I got to sample their benets too, that one was really good. Pricewise it was a little pricey, but hey you got a unique blend and taste of new orleans, and also rent must be really expensive and i understand that. I enjoyed a shrimp po boy with fried okra. Although everything was heavily fried I enjoyed the sandwich especially. Okra isn't my favorite vegetable but this is creole. Beignets were soft, sweet, and covered in just the right amount of powdered sugar. However, they seemed just a bit undercooked. If this can be tweaked, they will have orders by the dozens. Now I know what you're thinking - yes they serve queens too. They are so friendly too it's as if you're back in the south. Shopping at the mall and I came across Creole Kings in the upstairs food court! The food court is always sparkling clean and filled with energy! The owner, Jeremiah, was there...very helpful (charming) and knowledgable! I asked about vegetarian options and he hooked me up! I ordered the entree of fried cauliflower and of course had to try the okra too! Entrees come with drinks! OMG it was love love at first bite! I'm so happy that I was around the area and got to try this place. I've been to New Orleans a few times and haven't found a good po boy this good, except at Willie Mae's in Venice. The food took me back to NOLA, down to the French roll, the plump and quality of the shrimp, the distinct remoulade, and the cornmeal batter. We knew it was gonna be good bc it took a while for it to come out. Had the Catfish basket with fries.. traditional cornmeal coating on the fish was great ( a bit salty)... only complaint was they did not have gumbo on the menu ( maybe someday)... highly recommend! read more

I ordered the Catfish with fries basket , the Shrimp Po Boy and the fried Okra. Both the sandwich and the catfish basket comes with a sweet almost teryaki consistency sauce and a sauce kind of like spicy mayo a bit. I gotta say I love seasoning but the fish was very salty and the sauces that it comes with is too much, The Po Boy came with the same sauces on top of it but it wasn't as salty because the salt was cut with the bun lettuce and tomatoes on it. If there was a tartar sauce or some kind of white lemony sauce to cut the salt off the fish it would have been much better. The fish plus the salty fries is too much. A new Black Owned and Operated southern food spot in the food court of the Westfield Topanga Canyon mall. Nice looking basic them with the traditional New Orleans colors of green, gold, and purple. Ordered the catfish basket with Mac and cheese and the shrimp with fried okra and a side of Mac and cheese. And a sample of the beignets. The shrimp was favor full, but the batter fell off of the shrimp. The okra was crisp, perfectly salty, and moist on the inside. Catfish was cooked well. However, The beignets were not beignets! They were doughy and ate like an airy doughnut; not like a Cafe Du Monde thick, chewy, crisp, and dense beignet. And the sauce was more like a syrup than a sauce. It had an umami flavor that was not quite distinct. The star of both meals was the Mac and cheese. It's was creamy, perfectly seasoned, a little crust, and a nice small shell pasta. The mac and cheese was creamy, cheesy, and perfectly textured -- not too heavy at all. seriously one of the best I've ever had. The beignets were a dream come true. I hunt down beignets wherever I go, and these were by far the best I've ever had. They weren't dense, but beautifully airy and light, with the perfect amount of chew, and dusted just right with powdered sugar and coated in glaze perhaps? Every bite was pure perfection. When the fries were ready, they were hot, crisp, and seasoned perfectly. Everything about this meal screamed dynamic flavor and care. The catfish was cooked crispy and flavorful and the bourbon sauce was outstanding. the beignets were good but was expecting the outside to be a bit more crisp but overall still good. The peach cobbler topping was THE BEST. MUST GET THE PEACH COBBLER. The last at the register was a bit short with me for some reason for the cook (and I'm assuming owner) was really nice and apologized for the order talking a whole. The food is 10/10 along with the service ! My husband and I just moved to the area and the only reason I come to this mall is because theres a capital one bank. We were walking around the food court because we got a bit hungry and we had no idea what to eat. They had free samples of beignets and the owner offered for us to give them a try. First bite we knew this is where we were going to eat. This place will now be the second reason we come here. The wings have that buffalo taste thats a bit tangy but whats makes it stand out to us is how theres so much flavor packed into it. It has bits of crispy ness to the outside and the sauce is not overwhelming at all ! You can tell it's seasoned well and also the fries. Crinkle cut fries we're not a fan of, but these have so much flavor and are actually seasoned and what we love is thats it's not too salty ! As for the beignets, were not really big on sweets but these are completely different. We have tried them from different places and they're all the same. What makes these different is how soft and airy they are, its not super buttery or oily. Everything balances itself out with the sweet sauce it has glazed over it and the cinnamon sugar.
