Shrimp, I Like It Naked Boil
Reta B.

My friend and I were in Thousand Oaks and wanted to have some boiling crab but it was a bit far however we stumbled upon this crab place and decided to give it a try. It was actually good. Something close and with good pricing which was good. I still love boiling crab but this I would rate 4/5. My friend and I had potatoes corn rice and the mix. I would return again

I'm from Orange County but I come to Thousand Oaks VERY OFTEN to visit relatives attending CalLu. One of my favorite restaurants around CalLutheran is Cajun Crab Shack. The food is flavorful, colorful and plentiful. The restaurant has a bar, but my favorite drink is the unsweetened iced tea. The restaurant is spacious, plenty of room for large parties. They also have a patio area for those that enjoy eating outside. The service is always accurate and timely, the only pet peeve I have about this place, is that so far, I have never experienced a smile from the staff, everyone is always serious making the experience less welcoming. We are a people first industry, therefore there is nothing more personal that a connection that comes from a genuine smile.

This was by far the worst crawfish I have ever had. The crawfish tasted old, stale, and had an awful flavor completely inedible. To make matters worse, the pricing was dishonest. Online it clearly says $12 per pound, but when I went to pick up my order, I was charged $24 per pound. That's DOUBLE the advertised price. And by no means am I picky eater I'm practically a garbage disposal. Not only was the food terrible, but I walked away paying the most I've ever been charged at a seafood restaurant for the worst quality I've ever experienced. If you're going to charge an absurd amount, at least make sure the food is edible. Overall, an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience. Negative stars don't waste your money.

Cajun Crab Shack is amazing!! The food was incredible, and Antonio provided fast, friendly service. I had the Clams Ahoy seafood combo, and my fiancé loved the Shrimp Scampi Pasta. My dad had the Red Snapper Fish Plate, and we all shared the Beef Nachos, which were delicious. My sister loved the Shrimp Fajita, and the Micheladas are hands down the best we've ever had, you have to try it! The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. They stream the sports games, which adds to the fun, and the full bar is a great touch. We can't wait to come back and try more of their amazing food! Highly recommend! :)

#4 Clams Ahoy & Carne Asada Fries were split between four of us with rice each! The Yelp reviews did not lie - the butter garlic sauce was excellent. A heads up - looks like the white rice is also buttered. We all felt content with our food and didn't fill us up too much. My group of five really enjoyed our time at the Crab Shack - we went on a Sunday at 12 PM and didn't have to wait to be seated. Though there was a bit of a wait for our food but might have been because there was one big group in front of us. I'd come again but would probably try a 1lb of shrimp with a different sauce. Because there was so much butter, it did leave my stomach a bit upset.

Great warm interior

100% recommend. Better and higher quality than any other local spot and boiling crab. Will be returning no doubt.

Ask the Community - Cajun Crab Shack

Are they doing dine in too outside? They had several tables out there so wondering why it's delivery and take out only.

Yes. There are a few tables outside with plenty of space between them.

How much is a normal meal? The menu is $ per pound so I can't really tell.

It was $19 for the shrimp meal. I believe it was a pound.

Luau Grill - Kalua Combo (Pork with Chicken Katsu) & Spam Musubi

Authentic Island Flavors at Luau Grill…read more My wife, our three sons, and I recently stopped by Luau Grill in Thousand Oaks, and it was one of those spots that instantly makes you feel at home. With its true mom and pop shop feel, this place delivers not just on flavor, but on that welcoming, no-frills atmosphere that makes you want to come back again and again. Entrées: We ordered the chicken katsu and kalbi short ribs, and both were outstanding. The chicken katsu was perfectly crispy on the outside while staying juicy and tender on the inside, paired with a flavorful sauce that brought everything together. The kalbi short ribs were just as impressive, marinated well with that sweet and savory balance you expect from great Hawaiian BBQ, and cooked to perfection with a nice char. Sides: Each plate came with white rice and macaroni salad, and both hit the mark. The rice was fluffy and a perfect base for the meats, while the macaroni salad was creamy, simple, and exactly what you want alongside a hearty Hawaiian meal. Appetizers: We also grabbed a classic spam musubi, and it did not disappoint. The spam was nicely seared with a slightly sweet glaze, sitting on perfectly seasoned rice and wrapped in seaweed. Simple, but done right. Ambience: The vibe here is as authentic as it gets. It truly feels like a small family-run spot where the focus is on good food and good service rather than anything flashy. That mom and pop atmosphere adds a lot of charm to the overall experience. Overall: Luau Grill is a must-visit if you're in Thousand Oaks and craving authentic Hawaiian food. Dining here with our three sons was easy and enjoyable, and from the quality of the dishes to the welcoming feel of the place, everything comes together for a great experience. Easily one of the best Hawaiian spots around, and definitely somewhere we'll be returning to.

I felt compelled to leave this review because this place truly deserves more recognition…read more Luau Grill is a newer spot in Westlake Village, and while I often see it quieter than it should be, the food and overall experience are honestly impeccable. The food is extremely consistent -- which is exactly what you want from a restaurant like this -- and every time I've come in, everything tastes just as good as the last visit. The restaurant itself is immaculately clean, the portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity you're getting. On top of that, the service is excellent. There's a staff member I often see working there who is always attentive, friendly, and makes the experience even better. I also really love seeing Hawaiian culture and beach vibes making their way into Westlake Village -- between this spot and the new Hawaiian coffee shop coming in, it's such a great addition to the area. Highly recommend supporting this place. Easily a 5-star experience, and I hope more people discover it soon.

There's alway that nice factor of trying someplace new. This was a find from one of our friend…read more Which was also a hit from another friend who's dined before. We had a dinner reservation last Saturday which we showed up a little early to have a cocktail before hand. It's located inside of a strip mall with loads of parking. A decent size patio seating. When you walk in, you're greeted with the hostess who were amazing. Right infront of you is the bar area. That itself isn't big at all. There's a few seat along the bar area and that's about it. Also inside dining isn't big as well. Restaurants wasn't massive but nice and quaint and very busy. We were told that if we wanted to grab a drink and take it outside to a spot while we wait for our table it would be fine. They would come get us once it's ready. Cocktails and wine menu was quite nice. They do allow you to bring up to two bottles for a corkage fee. Which we did take advantage of. But beforehand, started off with their smoke and sour cocktails. Mezcal, lime, hibiscus juice, farm egg whites and cherry bitters. It was quite delicious and that smoked mezcal, wow. If you like mezcal, it's worth trying. Bar area isn't big so we had to stand there and wait for our drink. Maybe a 10 to 15 minutes later, we were informed our table was ready. We were seated right behind the bar area for a table for four. I believe Jonathan was our waiter. Very sweet and friendly. Also, it did seemed like a lot of regulars. All the staff members seem to know everyone that was dining. Menu is limited but quite impressive. We started off with a few shared plates before the entrees. -Ember roasted red beets with preserved lemon crèma, spiced pumpkin seeds, pickled Fresno chilis and mint. Wow, it was delicious. The flavors with the beets, kiss kiss. -Smoke trout toast- blisters cherry tomatoes, candy beets, wild arugula, crème fraiche and lemon. This was top dish for starters from all of us. The flavor of the trout was the star of the dish. Highly recommend. -Mushrooms flatbread- shiitake, buna shimeji and oyster mushrooms, tarragon, fiore di Latte mozzarella and crème fraiche. Mushrooms lovers with amazing variety all combined together for a delicious bite. -Spicy scampi flatbread- rock shrimp, parsley, garlic, Calabrian chilis and parmigiano reggiano. It's literally having a seafood scampi but on a flatbread. Wow wow, favorite out of the two flatbread. Definitely recommend. Entrees, Manila clams and salt spring mussels tossed in spaghetti with Calabrian chilis and parsley. The flavors were excellent. Simple but very tasty. -Crispy gnocchi with cherry tomatoes, basil in a Parmesan fondue. It's alway a hit or miss for me but this was a hit. And the elk which was maybe a special. Not quite sure the whole description but it was very tasty. Plus it was very tender and cooked perfectly and mixed with a sauce and topped with crispy onions. Another hit. Lastly we actually had room left for dessert which was the bread pudding. Hot with a nice scoop of vanilla ice cream. Perfect way to end an amazing meal. The service was great. Food was excellent and highly recommended. Each dish had its unique taste that was delicious. Everything ordered was outstanding and no crumbs were left. We would definitely be back.

The people are the best (great seeing you, Annie! Sorry I missed you, Vicki!). 8:15pm and still a lively crowd inside, everyone enjoying themselves. Naveed took care of me at the bar where I began with the perfectly prepared Moody Rooster Old Fashion. Added to that Just a couple appetizers this time: the Burrata and Artichoke, and the Sea Bream crudo. The former had a beautiful burrata mound atop artichoke hearts, pine nuts, and olive oil. Perfect blending of flavors. The crudo was equally well-received. An ample pile dressed up in the center of a shallow bowl, with plenty of olive oil, as opposed to being slices merely laid flat on a plate. Fortunately I'll be back in the area in a week. can't wait to return!
