It's a very dive bar vibe. What kind of be cool if it was actually on a cliff. But the service third floor are nice. They have lots of TVs to watch sports and have an outside out the area. That's very cute. Bar area is pretty loud, but they do have a room that we sat at and it worked well for me. Carne asada plate was a little small but cooked well. Needed a little finishing salt. Passion fruit margarita large and small but we got small and it was huge!!! Free parking! Delicious lobster enchiladas!!!! The lobster was perf cooked and they put a lot in there. This was a halfway mark for my friends and myself between LA and Oxnard, Ca. We met there. Place has cute retro decor. Server was new and friendly. I ordered the Paloma, was good but not super strong. Ordered the mahi mahi tacos, they are street sized but I liked them. My friends had the taco salad and gringo tacos. This restaurant has a really cute hip vibe that initially attracted me to it. I love the hanging plants on the ceiling, the murals, the places to take selfies, it all has a great vibe, we sat in the bar area where they have a few screens that play sports and I enjoyed this spot, especially since the other side was a longer wait and was more for reservations (which we didn't have). In my opinion the food didn't taste that special. Maybe it was what we ordered but it all kind of just tasted like something that would be made at home, no unique seasoning or style for the cooking. Both dishes we got (the gringo tacos and the chicken fajitas) were extremely overly greasy. My whole table commented on the amount of grease pooling on each plate. We had just eaten at Red O's last week in this area, and kept comparing the food, but not in a good way. The wait was long to get our food but our server Macy was absolutely fabulous. She was patient and kind and made sure we were taken care of and communicated what was going on every step of the way despite it being so busy. She even gave us some free guac while we waited, which was actually my favorite thing I ate that night. I wish every waitress was like her. I want so badly to give this restaurant more stars because of her but when I compare it to other Mexican restaurants in So Cal, the food doesn't really hold up to my preferred tastes. First of all the tables were very dusty. I mean come on wipe off your tables sometimes then we we ordered the fajitas and the pibil. This is a soft 4 stars. The service was casual and friendly. We were there at the beginning of Happy Hour for a late lunch. The bar area has a sort of hanging gardens motif. There is an upstairs, where we did not go and plenty of outside seating. We had the steak tacos and the lobster tacos, pretty darn good, street tacos sized, my favorite. The margaritas were closer to lime-ade with a salted rim. I am a bit of a light-weight and still didn't taste much tequila. Complimentary chips and salsa. Think tropical/modern decor, lush patio seating, and a hint of "prohibition-era speakeasy meets beach resort" energy, I'm practically a regular over here. There is a bar side (which is where I usually frequent) where there are a few TVs that are great for sport watching. On the other side there is a larger area with plenty of seating for couples or even larger groups. Both areas are gorgeously decorated with the most instagrammable shots! For food, go for the lobster tacos because they are always absolutely delicious, poke tostadas taste like a vacation in every bite, and super fresh shrimp ceviche. Wash it down with their signature magnum margarita or an Anejo old fashioned (El Viejo) and you're living your best coastside life. We had so much fun. Servers are excellent. Everyone in the place was having the best time. That's the restaurant's positive vibe! Maybe it's the margaritas that makes it such a happy place. I want to try a margarita flight next time, I saw someone else with a flight! So the food is okay. My mahi mahi tacos were really dry. And the plantain chips on them are just weird. My husband had chicken enchiladas and they were fine. The churros taste fresh made and they were hot, yummy and crunchy. The server said the owner makes many of the desserts from scratch, so I would recommend trying them, We had such a fun time that we will be back to try some other entrees. Last night a friend and I were looking for a late night dinner and the original restaurant we planned to go to closed in about 15 min. We never want to be "those people" so we decided to pivot our plans. We specifically were looking for restaurants that close in at least 1 hour. We settled on Cliffdiver and drove over. We were standing in the bar area looking at where to sit when a girl stands up from a high top (I thought she was a customer) and says "we're closed. Sorry" and walks away. It was so awkward so we left right away and double checked Yelp (which had them closing in an hour) and thought well, yelp is a 3rd party -- maybe the info is wrong? And we went on Cliffdiver's own website and sure enough it aligned with Yelp, that they closed in an hour. I'm not sure if maybe last night was a special exception or maybe she just didn't like us. But I'm not even annoyed at that. What was annoying was her flippant attitude as she stood up from a high top and didn't even bother to talk to us. Bad customer service for sure! read more

We wanted to try the street acos at this place again ! We calked in our order this time selecting the lobster, battered Mahi, and the Poké tacos. The selections today tasted very good ! The flavours of the Battered fish were a little different, not as much sauce, and not as bold. The lobster was seasoned well, had enough sauce, and had great depth, but was a little dry.this time. The poké tacos were made on crunchy wontons instead of soft corn tortillas. The poke chunks were large, plentiful, and smothered in their signature chipotle aioli sauce while each topped with a jalapeño slice and avocado slices. They each had a nice crunch, out of the gate, with a bit of spice, heat, and smooth, yet firm juicy texture! Per usual, the staff was stellar and the place was clean and busy ! My family was looking for a place to have dinner that was close to the theater and found The Cliffdiver. We made reservations on Saturday, but it wasn't crowded whatsoever. The place was decorated nicely and everything was clean. We were there during happy hour - though they don't have a huge selection, they have yummy options and the portions are decent. We tried the quesobirria tacos (total hit), the queso with chips (yummy), and the octopus salad. That last one was a miss, maybe a little undercooked. The steak fajitas were super tasty too. We ordered beef tacos from the kids menu, but my niece didn't like them too much. Overall, good experience and great service. Our waitress Macy was really patient, attentive, and it a great mood. This review is for the bar area only. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon around 5 pm. The bar area was fairly full, but we were able to find a four top. Our waitress brought over complimentary chips and salsa and quickly took our drink orders. I tried the nonalcoholic watermelon & mint aqua fresca - nice flavor and refreshing. This was our first visit. We came early at 5:30 P.M. There were 6 in our party. We were looking for a casual, highly rated place to catch up with family. Overall, the experience was very good and the food was great. I got the tequila flight and seafood sampler(3 taco plate). I got more fries than I was expecting, so I had plenty to share with others. The florals on the ceiling is a super nice touch. The bottomless mimosa is $25 per person and was absolutely worth it with the variety of juice that comes with it as well. Our server was super nice so our experience was great! Most of us got the breakfast sandwich and it was perfectly seasoned and the tots were perfectly crisp just like we asked for. I'm not sure how this establishment has 4 stars. Met a couple of friends here since we had heard they relocated from Malibu. The food was awful. I ordered a fajita salad and it was awful. Nice bartender but the food that we all three ordered was less than good. Plants outside in pots are all dead. We went here for Mother's Day. They have street parking and a lot in the back. It was hard to find the entrance, there were multiple doors but they all seemed to open into the dining area or bar rather than a host area. The decor was very nice with lots of hanging flowers and a backdrop that says Happy Birthday. Our reservation was at 12:00 and the place was pretty empty then but quickly filled up once we sat down. We ordered drinks for the table, one margarita, one Oaxacan margarita (mezcal), and a margarita flight which came with spicy, mango, prickly pear, and strawberry. We all agreed the drinks were on the watery diluted side. We got nachos to start with chicken. The chicken was cooked so well but the toppings were limited. Also odd there was no guacamole or salsa on the nachos. It took a while to get a side of salsa though the salsa tasted good. The fajitas were decent and came with some chicken and bell peppers. Only 3 corn tortillas came so we asked for more. Another member got lobster omelette and while it had a good amount of lobster, he said the flavor was minimal. Our margaritas were delicious and the bar tenders were so polite and quick! The food on the other hand was just okay. We ordered the empanadas which were delicious but also got an order of potato tacos that had zero flavor and quesabirria tacos which were so soggy we didn't eat them. Upon walking in I noticed how dirty everything was from the green carpet outside to the chairs inside. Upon sitting, we were served chips and salsa. The salsa was good, but a little bland. Chips was made fresh. Putting that aside, I ordered steak burrito and lobster enchiladas. The steak burrito had good charred flavor on the steak and it was a decent size. I think the steak could have been seasoned better. I liked the sauce on the enchiladas, but was not a fan of the lobster meat as it was claw meat. It was overcooked for sure. Good enough. I ordered a burrito and some chips. I think there was another entire side to the restaurant that I didn't notice because the entrance I found was near the bar half of the place. Others were eating outside on the patio. I sat at a table and the woman who took my order was very upbeat and cheerful. Super nice lady. There was a young person helping out too, he didn't look even 15. He helped bus food and clean up. Unfortunately he came over and cleaned the window right next to my table, spraying cleaning solution in a way that had it landing all over my chips without him noticing. The chips weren't so special that I needed to replace them. Tasty burrito though, and huge - I was easily full from half of it. This place has a fun atmosphere and good vibes. This place is amazing! It is rare to find a restaurant with great food and wonderful service. I made reservations for my friends and me on a Friday night, and I highly recommend doing the same. The staff is incredibly attentive; they all work as a team to serve customers. They are friendly and quick to respond--I've never seen a team at a restaurant work so well together. One person takes your order, another brings your food, while someone else fills your drinks and takes your plates. Although it was crowded, we were frequently asked if we needed more drinks or salsa. The food was good and fresh. I had the shrimp taco platter, and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. The rice and beans were some of the best I've ever tasted. Having grown up in Camarillo and now living in Oxnard, I have a deep appreciation for rice and beans. These had a flavor I couldn't identify, but they were fantastic! I ordered the surf and turf burrito and added guacamole. From first glance, the burrito looks so huge and appetizing! I love to see the grill marks on the tortilla. They gave me some complimentary chips and salsa. I was hyped to eat. I took a couple big bites of my burrito. Where is my shrimp and carne asada?? I kept biting and biting to reach the meat and bit into something really hard and thin. I immediately took it out of my mouth. Cardboard???!! I am so disappointed and disgusted.
