    Shrimp tacos

BEST shrimp tacos I've ever had !!! I order shrimp tacos everywhere I go, and these are hands-down the best I've ever had! The fried shrimp smells and taste like sesame oil. It's amazing so crispy, but so light and airy and fluffy at the same time. The sauce, pears perfectly with it these tortillas are homemade fresh! And it comes sitting on a bed of homemade chips with a perfect salsa would definitely come back and recommend to everyone I know and I will. The staff is super chill and friendly, laid-back environment place looked super clean as well

Shrimp vs Chef is one of those places you order from "just to try it" and then suddenly you're in a committed relationship with your delivery bag. I got the shrimp katsu and the shrimp po' boy, took it home, and ate it like it was a personal event. No music, no TV, just me and shrimp making eye contact. The shrimp katsu was ridiculous. Perfectly crispy, still hot by the time I got it on my plate, like it refused to get soggy out of sheer pride. Every bite was like, "Hey, your life might be a mess, but at least this is going right." I'm standing in my kitchen over the counter, half leaning, half praying this isn't the peak of my week. Then the shrimp po' boy... yeah, that thing is not "po'" anything. That sandwich walked into my house with main character energy. Big juicy shrimp overflowing out the sides, sauce everywhere, bread soft but somehow still holding it all together better than I am. It's the kind of sandwich you have to hunch over the sink for because you know you're about to make bad, saucy decisions. I told myself I'd eat half and save the rest for tomorrow. Next thing I know I'm staring at an empty plate like, "Who did this?" For takeout, it was way too good. No restaurant vibes, no plating, just a plastic box on my counter and still some of the best shrimp I've had in a minute. Shrimp vs Chef definitely won. My diet lost. My self-control never even showed up. 11/10, would absolutely destroy again on my couch in sweats.

Small business Banger! I've eaten here about 5 times and everything I've ordered has been great. Clean eating is what you will get here.

We were in the area and looking for highly rated places on Yelp and this came up. Since the family loves shrimp we thought to give it a try and everything we had tasted delicious. The noodles and burrito were my faves! Definitely recommend and the service here is stellar. My only suggestion is they add more salsa to the orders! I love the vibe here too. So chill.

This spot has such a great vibe and Temple was so welcoming! We ordered a shrimp salad and the ahi poke with rice. The salad was dressed just right, the greens were fresh and crispy and the shrimp was perfectly cooked. The poke bowl was fresh, flavorful and filling. There's a solid selection of sauces to choose from to personalize your flavor. Love all sports decor and there are several TVs. The restaurant has a warmth to it that you just want to stay and enjoy your food. Plenty of parking outside.

Started from the Food Truck and now we HERE. Okay.....so there's still the food truck but now you've got Shrimp on the go AND the opportunity to try Shrimp vs Chef at their brick and mortar store in Thousand Oaks, CA. Been a long time fan of Shrimp vs Chef and the lovely owner Temple since back in the day. Id follow their food truck around town for the infamous Garlic Noodles and good vibes. A little bit of Rock n Roll and badass vibes in the 805 always made me feel right at home. I sampled a few of these classics: Fried Shrimp with Garlic Noodles - a fan favorite, my tried and true menu pick every damn time Fresh Shrimp Ceviche - in this summer heat there is nothing more refreshing then ice cold shrimp ceviche with perfectly salted chips Tuna Poke Bowl - we're on island time with this dish my friend the freshest poke and a massive potion, such a classic tasty dish Temple and his team are friendly, welcoming, and all about creating a good experience. I love their interior, the decor and the menu is extensive with so many delicious options to try. The food here always hits and is some of the best seafood you'll find in the 805. If you're a little bit foodie, a little bit rock n roll, or a little bit punk rock this spot will be a 10/10 in your books.

Delicious seafood and warm hospitality! As a seafood lover, I am always on the lookout for places that do great seafood, especially shrimp. I stumbled upon this little eatery, and I am looking forward to try all the dishes in the menu. Located on Thousand Oaks Boulevard near Rancho Road, this restaurant is located in a strip mall. Parking is ample in front of the restaurant. The menu offerings are simple but diverse. There are burritos, tacos, and Asian noodles with tempura shrimp. There is also a tuna poke and vegetarian offerings of fried avocados in lieu of shrimp. I tried the tuna poke and I would give it 9 out of 10. The serving portion was generous, and the tuna felt fresh. The side portion of warm rice with tuna and avocado felt like a light but substantial meal. On my second visit, I tried the garlic noodle, and I would give it 6.5 out of 10. While I loved the fried shrimp, the noodles was too salty and I needed to wash it with water. The serving size was very generous, and it was enough to last two meals. The cost of entrees were around $16-$25. The ingredients felt fresh, and the entrees were all made to order. As for the service, patrons will order/pay at the counter, and the server will deliver the dishes to your table when ready. There was also a water station on the side. The owners seemed very hands on with the business, and you could definitely tell they have passion in cooking. Overall, a great place for shrimp lovers for comfort food. Highly recommend!

We had an amazing lunch here today. The shrimp tacos were so crispy and delicious. The tri-tip tacos were also amazing. We will be back, the poke bowl will be our next selection.

Truck came to my work today and it was soooo good. Small menu but super fresh. I usually hate fried stuff but this wasn't heavy. Fast service. Prices were high but it was a lot of food and huge shrimp so felt worth it. One of the better food trucks we've had.

    Unbreakable Caesar salad
    Megan G.

I didn't know that Shrimp vs Chef originally started as a food truck, but I'm so happy they've found their brick-and-mortar home in Thousand Oaks! I started with the Unbreakable Caesar salad, which was great. The shrimp is grilled to order, well-seasoned, and perfectly cooked--adding the ideal touch to a classic Caesar. I also had to try the shrimp & pork Al Pastor burrito, and wow, was it a winner! I appreciate that they let me sub out the rice, making the flavors stand out even more. The pork was generously seasoned, the slaw added the perfect crunch, and the bites of pineapple brought just the right amount of sweetness. Every bite was packed with flavor, and I wouldn't change a thing. The service was phenomenal, all thanks to Temple, the owner. He was taking orders, bussing tables, and making sure every guest felt welcome and well taken care of. It's clear he takes pride in what he does, and it makes the experience even better. The ambiance has a small, edgy bar feel, but Temple still makes sure to learn your name, which adds a personal touch you don't find everywhere. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area! Can't wait to come back!!

    Shrimp and pastor burrito
    Ron W.

Saw this on my feed and attempted to go in the past but they were closed. Was lucky they were open that evening. Ordered the shrimp and Al pastor burrito. It was large, filling and good flavor. It was not a heavy greasy burrito which I appreciated. I ordered a shrimp Po boy to go and shared it with the bestie. She loved it and it was a hearty sandwich. Would come back to try their poke bowl, garlic shrimp noodles and their breakfast burritos. Plenty of inside seating and parking out front

Shrimp and pork belly banh mi sandwich and side salad. Phenomenal!

There was a generous amount of fresh, sweet fruit and a light dusting of confectioner's sugar. Delicious! Ample accessible parking near the entrance, and while not a large restaurant, it's well laid out and easy to navigate with a wheelchair. The service was prompt and friendly. Ordered the sausage breakfast burrito. The burrito was heavy on the breakfast potatoes, it took up more than half of the burrito. Unfortunately, the potatoes were all undercooked which made them CRUNCHY and unbearably BLAND. The amount of thin breakfast sausage slices inside was small relative to the entirety of the burrito. The scrambled eggs with cheese inside were very good! It came with a small cup of salsa which was excellent, unfortunately the cup was only half filled. It was not nearly enough as the burrito was so bland because of the large amount of undercooked potatoes. I could have easily used two or three cups of salsa to give it taste. LI'm not exaggerating when I say it's one of the best things I've ever eaten at a cafe! It had only 6 g of net carbs and was also vegan and gluten-free. It was so good, everyone I was dining with wanted to order it. As a Type 1 diabetic who needs to carefully control my carb intake and know exactly how many carbs are in food so that I can take the appropriate amount of insulin, eating outside of my home often feels like a huge game of risk. So when I encounter a place that has keto items on the menu and lists the amount of net carbs so that I know how much insulin to take, I am actually overwhelmed with gratitude. When there's an item like this on a menu for anyone on a keto diet, of which there's so many of us for many different reasons, I feel like the people making that decision are showing a kindness and respect to the diversity of their customers' needs. It's the most welcoming thing a business can do. My dream is that one day, every cafe offers this. This quiche was so good, I would be willing to make the drive to Westlake Village just to eat it. The staff was also really kind, checking other sugar and carb counts for other dishes so that I can understand more about the menu. Everything at The Royal Egg was just all class. The food was piping hot when it came out, the coffee was delicious, I loved that everything was farm to table and grass fed, etc. I genuinely can't wait to go back!!

Still, everything arrived beautifully packaged and well organized. The avocado toast was absolutely excellent honestly one of the best I've had! The flavors were well balanced and felt high quality. The place itself looks cute and inviting, and the staff were very friendly and helpful throughout the order process. Overall, it was a very good experience, and I would definitely like to try dining there in person next

I found the atmosphere to be so inviting, warm and modern with plenty of seating and a really nice outside patio. I would also mention that's it's so nice not to lumped in the middle of a strip mall like, ' Longevity in TO & Ragamuffin in Newbury Park' . I love the design of the interior! I have been to a ton of coffee locations in the area, ( Westlake, TO, Newbury Park, Oxnard, Ventura , Santa Barbara, Malibu) and this Cafe Ficelle location is up there with the best of them. Yes the parking is not perfect- but....the service I found on my, 'so far 5 visits' has been excellent and my ' cappuccinos' have been perfectly made and tasted superb. I also had a Tri Tip sandwich which I also found to be really tasty. I am a fan and would encourage you to give it a shot and look past the 3.7 stars on Yelp- I hope this location makes it as the Pizza place that was next to it didn't.

Today I had lunch at Cafe Ficelle with my parents. We shared two French dip sandwiches, a chocolate…read morecroissant and an almond croissant. The sandwiches were outstanding. Crusty, toasted baguette, tender tri-tip, and perfectly melted Gruyere. The dipping sauce was rich and flavorful, a perfect complement. Each sandwich also came with a fresh side salad of arugula and goat cheese. The croissants were very good. We arrived close to closing, so the pastries may not have been at peak freshness. I would recommend enjoying them earlier in the day, ideally with coffee or tea. Since we were sharing, our server sliced each croissant in three pieces. Thank you! The cafe itself is charming, with warm dark wood, cozy seating, and a fireplace that adds to the ambiance. Indoor temperature was a bit cool during our visit, but still a pleasant environment, and there is outdoor seating as well. The staff was friendly and service was quick. One small note: it would help if the staff had a better grasp of the menu and felt more confident describing it. The food speaks for itself and is worth highlighting. Parking was close and easy, and I especially enjoyed the light jazz playing in the background, including standards sung beautifully by Ella Fitzgerald. P.S. I always forget to snap photos. The sandwich was Insta-worthy.
