However, the prices are great and there's a condiment bar so you can help yourself instead of being bombarded by up-charges for salsa, and extra condiments. I also had the fish taco. There isn't much more to say than 3 Amigos is one of the best Mexican food spots in Thousand Oaks. Some of the best beans, tastiest salsas, and just straight up near-best burritos in town. It is one of those spots that you can always rely on to get a delicious lunch or dinner. The only thing that stops this from being a 5 star review is that the food is pretty expensive. I do understand that most places are quite expensive nowadays, but even so, it is expensive enough to skip most of the times that I am hungry. I think 3 Amigos is the best Mexican food in TO. There are always locals waiting or picking up food here. 3 Amigos has been around for a while so you know they are doing something right. I think the burritos are your best bet. My wife ordered the hard tacos and they were a lil soft due to the GENEROUS amount of lettuce. Mom ordered the quesadillas and really enjoyed it. I love the salsas and sometimes they provide you with free chips. They also have outdoor seating which is a must for when the weather is beautiful...which is is most days in TO. read more

I will say I do love the food here and that's the only reason I'm rating a 3... it's been years since I've come inside to eat but today was an interesting experience. First I ordered. Very terrible hospitality. Two young kids were working the counter and both seemed like they hated being there. I came to the counter to order something else a second time and the girl was sitting on her phone at the register and did not even look up to acknowledge me and the cook from behind the pass bar had to tell her to get off her phone which she basically just brushed it off in like a "shut up" manner directed at the cook and turned around and completely dismissed I was there until the other young boy helped me. Going forward I felt the awkwardness and it felt like a burden to ask them for anything. I came to the counter for a Togo container and they kinda looked at me dumb to the point I ended up saying "sorry" after asking because I felt like I was a bother. I wanted one more to go box and I felt so weird asking for another one I sent my husband to which he returned and said he asked for one and the girl said "I guess". I will say the food itself was amazing and I have 0 complaints in that aspect but the owners should really look into the attitudes and hospitality their employees put out because it for sure gives a bad reputation and makes a person feel uncomfortable and unwelcome in a place that is meant to be the opposite. The food is nothing special. Typical Mexican food. When I went to the bathroom, I was appalled at how filthy the floor leading to the bathroom was. I was shocked to see a man standing at a counter by the bathroom slicing thick raw meat and tossing it across the floor to another counter. You could see into the kitchen. So unsanitary. This place is the typical about 10 feet to small square footage, order from the hanging menu behind the cashier, all-you-can-drink, if you're willing to reload it yourself, soda machine in the corner cash flow aware restaurant. Two steps in front of Taco Bell, but struggling to keep up with Del Taco in the race for the not too fast Mexican fast food restaurants, Three Amigos just doesn't have anything worth being there. The food is average, the ambiance is lacking inspiration, and the vibe vacated the premise some time ago. 3 Amigos is one of those places we all cheer for from the start of the local restaurant game. This has been one of my go-to burritos spots for over 10 years and it hasn't changed a bit since day one. My favorite thing to order and top recommendation would be the Supreme Burrito with carnitas. The chipotle sauce alone is enough reason to order this masterpiece, yet on top of that it comes with guac in it, no extra charge! It's big enough for two meals and the out this world delicious tortillas they use, helps it preserve oh so well when refrigerated. I love the simplicity of the menu here. There are 6 burrito varieties and a build your own option. Vegetarian? No problem, they have an actual vegetarian burrito filled with grilled peppers and all the fixins, not one of those BS bean and cheese substitutes with no nutrients. Everything is made very quickly and the prices are super reasonable for what you get. There's also a handful of salads and soups, tacos, enchiladas and all that jazz on the menu. They have a small but mighty salsa bar and I'd highly recommend trying the green one with a squeeze of lime in it. There's plenty of seating indoors and out on the beautiful patio, adjacent to the ordering counter. This 3 Amigos is located next to Rite Aid and Trader Joes, off Arboles Road, and there's plenty of parking in the lot. Nice variety. Busy place. You have to buy your chips and salsa. I ordered the carnitas plate. It was served with beans and rice and salad. You get a choice of what kind of salsa you want over your meat. I chose spicy and it was very nice. You also get a selection of black beans or pinto beans. I tried the pinto beans and my friend ordered the black beans we both enjoyed our selections. Our food Was fresh and delicious. This is a casual place. You walk up and place your order there's a plexiglass between you and the cashier so it's sometimes hard to get a good recommendation. They move fast in there because it can get crowded. I'm giving it a three because the food was good but nothing spectacular. I was in the mood for Mexican food, so this hit the spot. Will update once I get to try other things. Hopefully I'll find that star in their menu. Went here because someone recommended the mahi-mahi tacos. But I wasn't in the mood. The service here is always good. The staff is friendly. I also enjoy the taco plate as it comes with rice and beans. The chicken tortilla soup was not my favorite because it seemed as though the chicken was grilled first and the put in. They chips are REALLY good here and they have a nice salsa selection at the salsa bar. Overall, the food here is always good. It's right by CLU - whatever time of day I go, it is always busy. I came here for a quick taco on the go. I tried the carnitas taco, which was decent at best. Being the yelper I am, I'll share my quick experience. Simple street taco with meat, onions, cilantro, and hot sauce. The carnitas taco was flavorless. No crispy pieces which was disappointing and tasted boiled with little seasoning. The red hot sauce didn't make my eyebrows sweat and was surprisingly mild. What I will say was the serving of meat was hefty and appreciated. Throw that meat is some oil and add a little marination and you could have a 5 star Mexican street taco. Quick in and out service. Not a restaurant type setting. Your average Southern California strip mall Mexican Food Place. The food comes out quick and hot. You can sit inside or out. The place looks super clean and I'm sure some of the other dishes are probably excellent. Carnitas can be hit or miss. I may be back to try something else out.
