Tacos
Brent O.

Enjoyed this. It's very laid back. Order at the counter and they bring it to you. Great variety of meats for tacos, burritos, etc. My son had five different meats of tacos and loved each one. Very relaxed and cool staff. Tv to watch sports or whatever.

A bean and cheese burrito. All tortilla minimal beans or cheese.

I was shocked by my experience there today. And I'm going to say that maybe the cook was just having a bad day. I went in today at about 6pm. My order was quite simple bean and cheese burrito with onion, cilantro, and GREEN salsa, 1 taco with green salsa. Let me just say $17 not including the tip for a bean and cheese and 1 taco was a little insane to me but I can get past that. I happen to see the cook making my burrito and noticed he put red salsa so I politely said oh no I asked for green salsa. He calls the cashier over and says something to her in Spanish but I wasn't able to hear. He aggressively wrapped the burrito and threw it to the side and proceeded to make a new one. Still clearly being able to see what he is doing I noticed there was no cheese in the burrito. So I told the cashier I ordered a bean and cheese but there's no cheese. She walked over and told him and he opened it up and added cheese. I apologize to her and said I hope I didn't get her in trouble. She just looked at me and shrugged. We have been there quite a few times and have always had a good experience not sure what happened. I heard it was new owners so maybe that's the difference. Fast forward to me getting home and unwrapping my burrito and being beyond disappointed in the fact that it was all tortilla and very little beans or cheese. Safe to say I don't think I'll be returning.

Mojarra Frita

This spot popped up not too long ago and we tried a few different items on the menu. The Mojarra Frita is hands down the absolute BEST that I have had anywhere. They are always very large and incredibly flavorful. The service is great. The team is super friendly and always happy to answer questions about the menu. This has quickly become a favorite for my family and myself.

Love this place! What an amazing place in Moorpark! They just opened, taking over the location where Sr.Ozzy's used to be in the Ralph's parking lot. They have a location in Camarillo as well. Food is amazing! They have taco Tuesday all day on Tuesday with some of their mini tacos at $2.50 instead of $2.99 (not the shrimp or fish). The tacos come with onion, cilantro and salsa. You can also get a side of grilled jalapeños and onions. If you eat at this restaurant, they have an amazing taco salsa bar! Our family's new go-to spot for to try a variety of Mexican food! Yum! Loved it!

Came to Taqueria Potrillos and Elizabeth was super friendly! We had green chilaquiles, a torta ahogada, and a carnitas taco -- everything was delicious. The atmosphere is very comfortable. Great service, thank you!"

Hard shell tacos were a disappointment. Very little meat and cheese. Salsas had little flavor. They did give complimentary chips though.

I ordered the enchiladas de mole negro. I'm Peruvian, and the flavor wasn't quite my personal preference, but I took the leftovers home and my husband who is Mexican and a big fan of mole absolutely loved it. So if you enjoy traditional mole, you'll probably appreciate it. My friend ordered the mole negro with rice and completely devoured her plate. She said she really enjoyed the flavor. I also ordered the Oaxacan horchata, and that was a highlight for me. I loved it so much very refreshing and delicious. The customer service was alright, a bit slow, but understandable since there was only one girl working the register and serving tables at the same time. The restaurant itself is cozy, and the bathroom was clean, which I always appreciate. Overall, it was a nice experience trying a traditional Oaxacan spot.

For once, the Yelpers are not being their usual, brutal selves. So I'm going to bring down some…read morereality here. The food is pretty good. I go out frequently and I cook at home a lot so I think I have pretty good perspective. We consume a fair amount of "authentic" Mexican food, and we travel to Mexico frequently. Recently we went to La Katrina and Manny's. Each has their own style but I wouldn't say one is hands down better in terms of food quality. But where this place sucks is atmosphere. Yelpers are being kind when they say it's a "hole in the wall". People, it's a dive. It's hot and stuffy. It can accommodate maybe 20 guests. 90% of the male patrons wear baseball caps. Parents entertain children by blowing up balloons then releasing them to make buzzy noises. Hahaha funny, NOT. People play their phones on open speakers, all while a soccer game is going on a tv high on the wall. There's one restroom, albeit immaculately clean, but still just one so you better be quick. This is not a quick serve restaurant. Wait service, such as it is, is slow and unobservant. I.e. we had to ask for chips, and when they arrived, no napkins, so we had to wait for the rest of our order to be able to wipe our hands. Our burning question from the menu was WTH are "glass" drinks? We asked and the waiter gestured towards the refrigerator with bottled drinks. Ok? So how are they different from "bottled" drinks on the menu? I'll post a photo so you can maybe decipher its meaning. We never got a straight answer. But what was crystal clear is, they don't offer fountain drinks. And no iced tea. If there was water, we weren't offered any. We arrived 10 minutes before a table next to us, with three guys. Within just a few minutes they were enjoying their lunches while we sat there. Finally when ours arrived, yeah it was fine, but nothing to do two huzzahs and a backflip over. And definitely not something I'd go out of my way for. I ordered the "regular" (as opposed to Oaxacan) enchilada plate with green sauce. I have a pretty good tolerance for "hot spicy", but this one made me sweat. Luckily, with their apposite of drink offerings, I had horchata, which helped to put out the fire. My husband ordered the chile relleno plate. He enjoyed it and said the sauce atop it was uniquely good. Their rice and beans were pretty good; needed a little salt on the beans. Maybe we'd return for takeout, but if you're considering this establishment for date night... don't.

And they have some great servers there. Tonight we were treated so appallingly that we may never come back. It was busy for taco Tuesday when we put our name in, and two female severs were directing traffic... the owners daughter basically yelled at us, if you're waiting for a table go outside so servers can get through with food... ok ya, totally understandable but don't yell at your customers. Her tone was annoyed. Then we were skipped for our seat and when I asked the other female server was super rude saying that wasn't the case (but we watched it happen). But it was really the way she spoke to us, more than the situation. Just really disappointed in how they treat their customers, we own a small biz and wouldn't dream of speaking to people like this. Later when one of the guy survers we know well noticed what was happening he came over and immediately apologized and offered to take care of us himself - but we were so turned off I didn't want to stay... he said we should tell the owner who was working the taco stand... So I did tha and she was apologetic but as we walked away her daughter said "I'm the owner too and I don't care". Alright. Good to know, we won't be supporting your biz any longer. 10+ years... we come twice a month.... But we can definitely take our biz to other Mexican restaurants in town (Luna Llena and Lalos) who appreciate us every time we visit, have amazing food and something called respect... Bye bye!!!

The restaurant has a patio area with tented sides, which is where they seat large groups. The concept is a good one, but when the overhead heaters don't work and it's cold outside, that's not ideal. Service was slow, and our waiter made repeated mistakes. My husband asked for a taste of a particular draft beer, and was presented with a full schooner instead. He likes to squeeze in lemon and had to ask multiple times for that side request. Then our young granddaughter ordered the kids' burrito, but the brought the adult version and charged for it. I didn't pay the bill so I didn't realize it right away. Not until it was too late, actually. Dear Hubby and I ordered the shrimp fajitas to share, which had an underwhelming number of shrimp. Whole lot of grilled onions, though. The taste was just so-so. The best item I had was the virgin mango margarita. Otherwise, it was an overpriced meal in chilly surroundings. Kudos to the restaurant for having colorful, festive Valentine's decor. That was a plus.
