Steak Tostada Salad
Niki R.

Quick and friendly service, their food never disappoints. My salad was crispy, fresh, vibrant and the steak was seasoned and cooked well. I also absolutely love their fried fish taco! Today was definitely a steak kinda day! And it didn't disappoint.

Friendly staff and good food. The food is fresh. The portions aren't as large as other places but the taste makes up for it. Burritos come with a side of chips.

Quesadilla and carnitas tacos

Stumbled into this restaurant for lunch today and surprised I haven't been sooner as I find my way over here a lot. 3 Amigos is casual dine in and to go Mexican food. I would give this spot a solid 3.5 stars as it's middle of the road Mexican food. However with yelp, I'll always round up since we don't have 1/2 stars. Best thing about this spot is the service. Definitely 5 stars in terms of friendliness, promptness, and attitude. Everyone that worked here was super nice and I appreciated that our order came out very quick which makes this a great spot when you are in a rush. The gals working here today were very nice and welcoming. Good vibes. The menu was also impressively large. Loved that they had a good variety of burritos, tacos, and other sides or snacks. The restaurant was clean with plenty of indoor seating and a good few tables outside in the shade. The restaurant was organized meaning easy to find the drinks and silverware. Causal decor, nothing fancy but this is a on the go type of a place as you order at the counter and pickup your food when your numbers called. Those are probably the biggest positives about this place from my review. Nice people and a good atmosphere/clean restaurant. I have to agree with other reviews that I found this spot to be a little pricy. Not terrible but for the quality of the food it seemed a little high. 2 bottled sodas (no refill), 2 tacos, one quesadilla, and one side of rice/beans was almost $40 ($37 I think to be exact). Seemed a little steep as only one meal was a combo. Also the food was average so it didn't warrant the higher price point in my opinion. As for the food, some hits and misses. I ordered the carnitas tacos and I thought they were good. Not the best but I was definitely satisfied with them. Carnitas were a nice portion and good fatty/juicy. You can see from my pictures though the onion ratio they put on my tacos was way overboard. Luckily it was easy for me to scoop some off but as an onion lover it was even too much for me. The rice and beans were average, nothing to write home about. The quesadilla wasn't very good according to my friend. She barely ate it and I agreed the asada in the quesadilla looked a bit bland and was small cut up square pieces. She barely touched it so that was a bummer. I think with this place explore the menu and find what sounds appealing to you. I did like the carnitas tacos for the most part but wouldn't be high on my list to come back. This area is lacking restaurant options so despite giving them a 3.5 it's good to have a spot like this in the area. Friendly and nice people work here so I'll definitely keep this place in mind and try something new next time as they are deserving of your business.

Supreme Burrito
Alana K.

My boyfriend and I came here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. It's a casual joint with a few tables inside and outside. We ordered the supreme burrito with steak, one grilled fish soft taco, one carnitas soft taco, and one horchata. The horchata was a little sweet for me, but everything else was delicious. I can confidentially say that this was the best burrito of my life, which I'm a little embarrassed to admit, probably has to do with the creamy chipotle sauce. In any case, I would highly recommend stopping by for a quick and hearty meal.

Wow, great Mexican food.....The Real Mexican food...

Food is average. Would be 3 stars if they didn't add 10% surcharge to simply cut burrito and wrap 2 halves separately. Ridiculous!!

In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little, yet enjoy a position over those…read morewho offer up their work--and their very selves--to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and even more fun to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face is that, in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism declaring it so. But there are rare occasions when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new. The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations. The new needs friends. Last week, I experienced something new: an extraordinary meal from a singularly unexpected source--El Sancho Loco Taqueria. From the roadside, it appears almost forgettable. A modest taco joint tucked along the asphalt of suburban California, the sort of place you might pass a hundred times without a second glance. No white tablecloths. No polished silver. No pretense. And yet, what emerges from this humble kitchen is something far greater than its surroundings suggest. The tacos arrive unceremoniously--warm tortillas cradling meats prepared with the patience of tradition and the quiet confidence of mastery. Each bite reveals flavors both bold and precise: slow-cooked carnitas with a perfect crisp, salsas that dance between fire and brightness, and the unmistakable depth that only comes from cooking with memory as much as with technique. It is Mexican cooking not dressed for spectacle, but presented in its most honest and soulful form. To say the meal challenged my preconceptions about where great food can come from would be a gross understatement. It did more than that. It reminded me that culinary brilliance does not require chandeliers or reservation lists. I once dismissed the romantic notion that greatness could arise from anywhere. But standing at a weathered wooden shack outside El Sancho Loco, I found myself reconsidering. Not everyone can become a great artist. But a great artist can come from anywhere. In this critic's opinion, they are creating something extraordinary--food that delivers not only craft, but something rarer: a genuine piece of heartland. P.S. Original inspiration from Anton Ego's review in Ratatouille.

We were seated almost immediately and after a round of waters, chips/salsa (fresh and crisp) margarita orders were taken. There were three different types ordered-all very good. Blanco and reposado graced our glasses-all were great. The food arrived and of the various eight dishes everyone raved at the freshness, flavor and poise that lay plated before us. For instance, carnitas were moist and tender-could not beat the taste. I have been to this location several times and have nothing short of a positive experience every time. I ever asked a few from the group what they think and the responses I got were "when are we coming back?" So, judging by the margaritas, the chips/salsa, the food-oh yeah, and the background music, five stars.

The atmosphere is comfortable and the greeting/service staff are genuinely great -- that part deserves credit. Unfortunately, the food and drinks don't come close to matching the prices. We debated coming back because we didn't feel great after our last visit, and this time sealed it. I've never liked their chips & salsa (which, to me, is a dealbreaker for a Mexican restaurant). I ordered a $23 combo plate and thought they forgot the chile relleno -- turns out it was there, just incredibly small. The margaritas were rough: one was $19, the other $15, and neither of us finished them. Food was very average, drinks were disappointing, and the total with tip was $93 for two people. Walking out, all I could think was: we should've gone for sushi instead. Service and atmosphere are solid -- the food-to-price ratio is not.

You used to be able to get an Horchata or another drink and then pay a dollar for a refill while eating inside the restaurant. They've done away with that. More importantly, when you order their shrimp tacos, you no longer get two tortillas having just one tortilla it falls apart in your hands. Also, they've done away with the cucumber slices and their sauce area. I guess we'll go back to ordering and eating from their truck that's over off of Thousand Oaks Blvd.. Finally the price is fluctuate a drink that says five dollars for a large Horchata rings up at $5.20. It's only $.20 but they need to keep their prices accurate or they're gonna end up getting cited by the city or the county. Because of this I've had to change my five star rating to a four star rating.
