Yesterday was our first time to the restaurant. The food was amazing!! The lady at the front counter made helpful recommendations when we said it was our first time there. I tried the combo she suggested and it was all fantastic. I had the tri tip and chicken which was probably the best I ever had, but I also loved the flavor of the beans...and the guacamole was also fantastic. My kids loved it too. She checked on how we were doing at our table, offered extra chips/salsa, and was overall a very wonderful experience. We love this place! We phone in an order, pick it up 10-15 minutes later. It's so fresh and delicious every single time. We have been going here for years and it never disappoints. The restaurant itself is always clean and the decor fits the restaurant. Only thing is I really wish they had an air conditioner for the employees. I frequent the el pollo corona grill in Simi and love it, but since I was in the moorpark area I decided to try the one in moorpark, and all I can say is what a mistake. I ordered a whole chicken and side of rice and when I'm in Simi the bill comes to about $28 but here I was charged over $42 because they upcharged me for things I didn't even order, I was charged for a large guacamole I didn't order, I was charged an additional fee for using my debit card, I was charged for large salsa I didn't even order and then I was told chips were not included. So they charged me for salsa and guacamole that I didn't order and then don't include chips? The Simi location always gives me chips and no additional up charges. I will NEVER go back to this location. read more

The building is nothing fancy but could be classified as a 'Landmark' location in Moorpark. Food quality is great and their chicken is most likely the best in Ventura County. read more

The salsa was absolutely yummy. Again, well seasoned (salt!) with the perfect kick. We also brought home a churro cheesecake and omg was that good. Not overly sweet which I so appreciate. Location is odd, it's a renovated yellow house on the corners so it's easy to miss if you're not careful. I'm not coming here again, this is beyond disappointing. THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS - Every time I go there, they short me on the meat by several ounces. The first time, they said they "count the slices, and some of the slices must have been smaller than usual." Slices? Really? I bought a pound, not a particular number of slices. This last time when I was shorted on the meat, they said they weigh the meat RAW. That would be ok if I WERE AT THE BUTCHER COUNTER, PURCHASING RAW MEAT. When I purchase a pound of tri-tip from a restaurant, I should get a pound of tri-trip cooked. At the very least, they should clearly note on the menu that the meat is weighed raw. Of course, the one time I purchased menudo there, the containers were nowhere near filled. CLEARLY, THEIR POLICY IS TO RIP OFF THEIR CUSTOMERS BY SHORTING THEM. Shame on you Pollo Corona. I work right down the street and always thought that this place wouldn't be too great. I'm not sure why. Decided to give it a shot for lunch one day and ordered the tri tip chicken plate, and I did a little dance. The chicken and tri tip were so flavorful and tender. Beans perfectly cooked. They definitely had me at their homemade tortillas and salsa. Music and staff made me feel like I was in the small town I grew up in San Diego closer to the border. I went again today to grab a 1pound tri tip combo for my kids and it was approved by all three of them! I'm slowly spreading the word to all my fellow work family. I wanted to add sour cream which they said they do put that already in there burrito expecting no extra charge. Then ask to add guacamole a she said I needed to buy a side and they would add to my burrito. I have never had to do that. It has always been a slight upcharge. Very disappointed.
