Wet burrito Steak n Chicken

First time trying this place. Very friendly and smiling service. Food is great. There is a small parking lot that you have to access from Los Angeles Avenue. If you missed the driveway, you'll have to UTurn or go around the block to get back to here. You come to this place for the food, not for the ambience of a well decorated restaurant.

We took a whole chicken and a pound of tri tip to go for a family of 4. Friendly service and fast! The chicken and tri tip were delicious, perfectly seasoned and tender. The salsa was absolutely yummy. Again, well seasoned (salt!) with the perfect kick. We also brought home a churro cheesecake and omg was that good. Not overly sweet which I so appreciate. The family loved the rice that came with it. But the beans were a fall down for me-- totally bland - like not even salt. All in all a fabulous meal. We'll be back. Again and again. We were so hungry - no one waited for me to take pictures.

$14 for eggs inside a tortilla is CRAZY. Half my "burrito" was straight tortilla. Is this a joke? Location is odd, it's a renovated yellow house on the corners so it's easy to miss if you're not careful. I'm not coming here again, this is beyond disappointing. It seemed like the best option since it's close to campus but I'm definitely driving the extra two miles to go elsewhere.

Prices have gone up. You get less food, and the chicken is dry because it's over cooked all the time.

I ordered the enchiladas de mole negro. I'm Peruvian, and the flavor wasn't quite my personal preference, but I took the leftovers home and my husband who is Mexican and a big fan of mole absolutely loved it. So if you enjoy traditional mole, you'll probably appreciate it. My friend ordered the mole negro with rice and completely devoured her plate. She said she really enjoyed the flavor. I also ordered the Oaxacan horchata, and that was a highlight for me. I loved it so much very refreshing and delicious. The customer service was alright, a bit slow, but understandable since there was only one girl working the register and serving tables at the same time. The restaurant itself is cozy, and the bathroom was clean, which I always appreciate. Overall, it was a nice experience trying a traditional Oaxacan spot.

For once, the Yelpers are not being their usual, brutal selves. So I'm going to bring down some…read morereality here. The food is pretty good. I go out frequently and I cook at home a lot so I think I have pretty good perspective. We consume a fair amount of "authentic" Mexican food, and we travel to Mexico frequently. Recently we went to La Katrina and Manny's. Each has their own style but I wouldn't say one is hands down better in terms of food quality. But where this place sucks is atmosphere. Yelpers are being kind when they say it's a "hole in the wall". People, it's a dive. It's hot and stuffy. It can accommodate maybe 20 guests. 90% of the male patrons wear baseball caps. Parents entertain children by blowing up balloons then releasing them to make buzzy noises. Hahaha funny, NOT. People play their phones on open speakers, all while a soccer game is going on a tv high on the wall. There's one restroom, albeit immaculately clean, but still just one so you better be quick. This is not a quick serve restaurant. Wait service, such as it is, is slow and unobservant. I.e. we had to ask for chips, and when they arrived, no napkins, so we had to wait for the rest of our order to be able to wipe our hands. Our burning question from the menu was WTH are "glass" drinks? We asked and the waiter gestured towards the refrigerator with bottled drinks. Ok? So how are they different from "bottled" drinks on the menu? I'll post a photo so you can maybe decipher its meaning. We never got a straight answer. But what was crystal clear is, they don't offer fountain drinks. And no iced tea. If there was water, we weren't offered any. We arrived 10 minutes before a table next to us, with three guys. Within just a few minutes they were enjoying their lunches while we sat there. Finally when ours arrived, yeah it was fine, but nothing to do two huzzahs and a backflip over. And definitely not something I'd go out of my way for. I ordered the "regular" (as opposed to Oaxacan) enchilada plate with green sauce. I have a pretty good tolerance for "hot spicy", but this one made me sweat. Luckily, with their apposite of drink offerings, I had horchata, which helped to put out the fire. My husband ordered the chile relleno plate. He enjoyed it and said the sauce atop it was uniquely good. Their rice and beans were pretty good; needed a little salt on the beans. Maybe we'd return for takeout, but if you're considering this establishment for date night... don't.

We've been coming here for over 10+ years, and I'm beyond disappointed in what happened tonight…read more And yes, sometimes the service hasn't been fantastic but it's nice local spot and we like to support local. And they have some great servers there. Tonight we were treated so appallingly that we may never come back. It was busy for taco Tuesday when we put our name in, and two female severs were directing traffic... the owners daughter basically yelled at us, if you're waiting for a table go outside so servers can get through with food... ok ya, totally understandable but don't yell at your customers. Her tone was annoyed. Then we were skipped for our seat and when I asked the other female server was super rude saying that wasn't the case (but we watched it happen). But it was really the way she spoke to us, more than the situation. Just really disappointed in how they treat their customers, we own a small biz and wouldn't dream of speaking to people like this. Later when one of the guy survers we know well noticed what was happening he came over and immediately apologized and offered to take care of us himself - but we were so turned off I didn't want to stay... he said we should tell the owner who was working the taco stand... So I did tha and she was apologetic but as we walked away her daughter said "I'm the owner too and I don't care". Alright. Good to know, we won't be supporting your biz any longer. 10+ years... we come twice a month.... But we can definitely take our biz to other Mexican restaurants in town (Luna Llena and Lalos) who appreciate us every time we visit, have amazing food and something called respect... Bye bye!!!

The restaurant has a patio area with tented sides, which is where they seat large groups. The concept is a good one, but when the overhead heaters don't work and it's cold outside, that's not ideal. Service was slow, and our waiter made repeated mistakes. My husband asked for a taste of a particular draft beer, and was presented with a full schooner instead. He likes to squeeze in lemon and had to ask multiple times for that side request. Then our young granddaughter ordered the kids' burrito, but the brought the adult version and charged for it. I didn't pay the bill so I didn't realize it right away. Not until it was too late, actually. Dear Hubby and I ordered the shrimp fajitas to share, which had an underwhelming number of shrimp. Whole lot of grilled onions, though. The taste was just so-so. The best item I had was the virgin mango margarita. Otherwise, it was an overpriced meal in chilly surroundings. Kudos to the restaurant for having colorful, festive Valentine's decor. That was a plus.

Five of us dined and everyone loved their food! We started with shredded beef nachos which were wonderful! The chili verde, chicken enchiladas and asada plate were all a hit! I personally could not wait to order the chicken mole' enchiladas (I LOVE mole' and heard theirs was amazing) BUT THEY RAN OUT! So disappointed! That's all I wanted, never even looked at the menu! It's not even 7pm yet? Why oh why do you not have enough for the Friday night rush!!?? When our waitress came back to to tell me they ran out of it, (she was very sweet and apologetic) and she had already put everyone's order in - I had no idea what I wanted ‍ so I ordered a chicken taco which didn't come out until about 5-10 minutes after everyone else's food was served. Other than that snag (my reason for the 4 stars not 5) their food is awesome! I'm definitely wanting to come back for the mole' and highly recommend coming here!
