Best Peruvian food I've ever had. We had such a great experience at Mouthful Eatery! The food was absolutely delicious and packed with flavor. We ordered the Lomo Saltado plate, which came topped with egg and avocado, and it was incredible. The beef was tender, the flavors were rich and savory, and everything blended together perfectly. You can tell a lot of care goes into the seasoning and preparation because every bite was super flavorful. For dessert, we had the count flan, and wow... it was the perfect way to end the meal. Smooth, creamy, and just the right amount of sweetness. Warning, the habanero sauce is hella spicy. I couldn't stop sweeting (Just stick to the jalapeño sauce that they give you. I like spicy so I also got the habanero sauce, my goodness!! Overall, the food was very flavorful, satisfying, and well prepared. If you're in Ventura County and craving something delicious, this spot is definitely worth checking out. We'll definitely be back!
Stopped by here because I really wanted a refreshing hydrating and homemade drink. Mouthful lemonades popped in my mind and we decided for a spur of the moment trip. We got the pineapple lemonade and classic lemonade . They were both FANTASTIC! Perfectly flavored and sweetened with the nicest staff recommending the different flavors. The store is clean, cute, upbeat, colorful and full of its own special uniqueness. They even had a board with lots of fresh daily specials. We decided to try a side of the Mac and cheese and man that did NOT disappoint! Even better than recent steak house Mac and cheese's we've had. We will be back and can't wait to try some more of their menu items and homemade desserts. Support local and homemade!
Absolutely amazing balsamic glazed salmon. My husband and I both ordered this dish and both were moist, beautifully plated, and we were very thankful that we could switch it up and added their mashed potatoes to the dish with no upcharge. The edamame bean were lightly sprinkled upon it. Our only suggestion is that there really did need to be more of a vegetable or more edamame beans. The wine only comes in cans, and that's not my speed. Also, the cans are fairly expensive for the quantity. So I switched it up and ordered their TAP IPA beer. It was all good and served promptly! This is our third repeat visit to this wonderful establishment. Our dinner evening was on wednesday evening which is their trivia night. It was funWe've done it twice.And frankly, the gentleman hosting is lovely but the mic is a little glitchy and way too loud for such a small room. We went with another couple, and all four of us had our ears ringing upon departure. I think we're going to skip wednesday night next time.
The moment I walked into Mouthful Eatery, the aroma alone had me excited to dig in -- and the food definitely delivered. I ordered the sweet potato fries and a chicken rice bowl with avocado and a fried egg. The fries were thick, crisp, and naturally sweet, while the rice bowl was packed with fresh ingredients that all worked perfectly together. The aioli tied everything together with just the right kick. What stood out most was how fresh everything tasted. The food came out quickly, but it never felt rushed or low quality -- more like a fast, casual spot with an elevated touch. Definitely can't wait to come back and try more of the menu.
Small Mac and Cheese: 3/5. Wished it was creamier, cheesier, and more savory, but I did enjoy the portobello cracklins, which were a unique add-in. Crispy Pork (Carnitas) bowl with rice: 5/5. Very comforting meal that was so easy to eat. Delicious crisped carnitas went well with the guac, pickled red onions, and crema. Peruvian Ceviche: 5/5. Tasty and refreshing. The cubed rockfish was definitely the star in this dish. The light-colored sauce also paired nicely with the corn and sweet potato. Alfajores (4pc): 4/5. Not too crumbly or sweet, had a good cookie-to-filling ratio. I feel like alfajores in general are always pricey, and these weren't an exception, but I'm glad I still tried them haha. Service/atmosphere: 5/5. Fast-casual with indoor and outdoor seating available. Has a tiny parking lot located behind the restaurant. The food came out relatively quick but still tasted fresh. Complimentary cucumber water was a pleasant surprise. The staff's welcoming demeanor and comprehensive explanation of the menu were much appreciated. We could tell that they were passionate about the food they serve. Prices are decent for the quality, taste, and portions of their dishes.
Went here during a tennis tournament due to the good reviews. Fabulous food! We had a group of 7 and everyone loved it. I got the chicken saltado and added Gouda cheese, egg and avocado. It was fabulous. The fried artichokes and cucumber mint lemonade were also fantastic. Wonderful service; wonderful atmosphere. Street parking in front; on the side and parking lot in the rear.
Very good food and nice ambiance. Cool decor of flowers being in beer bottles. Service was also great. My mom quote thinks "the bathrooms are good and the server has tact" this is referring to her saying we will be back and the server saying "you better" but in a friendly way. She was friendly in other ways too in that she made small talk with my sibling and parents. The pictures are bad because we already ate them. They were very pretty coming out of the kitchen. My dad also liked the bathroom he said the employees must wash hands sign was very big and he appreciated it. He then proceeded to tell 2 jokes involving those signs and my sister told a story as well. My mom replaced a toilet roll in the bathroom also. (Important information she told me) Overall very cool very nice. Also my mom had a Peruvian beer which she said was good and my sister a pineapple lemonade which I tasted and can confirm is good if you happen to like sweet fruit tasting drinks. Epic times B)
I haven't had this place for over a decade and decided to try it out again with my family, and I was definitely not disappointed!! each dish had lots of flavor to the meat and the quality of the food was fresh. My favorite part of the meal was definitely the yucca fries, which were so crispy on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside. And the sauce that came with it was so yummy. I definitely will be coming back here again!
My family and I just tried this restaurant today. We had Lomo Saltado and a bowl with chicken, green salad, rice and Quinoa. I had a Sangria made with white wine and roasted pineapple juice. It was delicious! If you like Peruvian food I would suggest this place. You could also go there for sandwiches and bowls. There are other items on the menu besides Peruvian food, Mac and Cheese for example.
Delicious flavor in every bite! I got the chicken Saltado bowl and my husband got the chicken saltado plate. We both added fried egg on top. The house aioli that was drizzled over my dish was amazing.
Conejo Valley's Hidden Gem!! This Handcrafted Peruvian Eatery is located near the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza Theatre!! Great for lunch, dinner, catering and special events! The inviting and cozy ambiance with the friendly staff makes this a definite go-to spot!! We tried their Aji de galling, which is a creamy, spicy chicken stew. Definitely worth trying!! I can see why it's a customer favorite!! The ultimate comfort food!! The slow roasted and succulent Pork Belly was topped with a sunny side egg. The freshness of the edamame and sambal sweet chili sauce helps to cut through the richness of pork belly. The Yucca Frita was crispy on the outside and soft inside. So addictive! The crisp green beans were perfectly cooked! Don't miss out on the scrumptious Alfajores! They are melt-in-your-mouth, buttery and sweet! Wonderful customer service from Javier and Maurino!!
Great locally owned spot !The space is so colorful and vibrant. Since leaving the East Coast , I've missed Peruvian food . I had been wanting to stop by. I ordered the Lomo Saltado. It was tasty however it bit salty and the rice was a bit too mushy for me. The sauces were good. Great customer service. Staff is very attentive. The have salads, sandwiches and so much more. Plenty of parking too.
I have been wanting to go back to this restaurant for some time now. My first experience was amazing! It was great to meet the key individuals who make this restaurant a success when I first visited this establishment. So I wanted to see if my experience was as good as the first time I visited this restaurant! As for food- this restaurant has an amazing menu of fresh foods to compliment anybody's taste ranging from chicken, pork to vegetarian dishes. You can get platters, sandwiches, salads, appetizers and more. They even have small petit sandwiches for ten dollars. Plus the restaurant offers limited alcoholic drinks. I got a bowl with pork belly that came with rice, pickled cucumbers, carrots, egg and more. The flavors were all wonderful in the bowl- but reviewing the pictures from my past experience, I noticed a significant size reduction in my bowl. And this dishes was a bit up there in price-19 dollars. The other bowls were about 15 dollars. Despite the price, as the flavors were amazing, I would come back for more! Since I visited the restaurant, some time ago, I have noticed that they are offering a lot of events. The upcoming event is for Vday dinner where its a multi course meal with jazz music for 100 dollars- I hope they dressed up the place with white table cloths as its a cafe not an upscale restaurant. I am sure the food will be wonderful and extra special for vday! Please come and support independent restaurants!
Happened upon this place for dinner and wow! What a find! I came for the Lomo Saltado and this place didn't disappoint. My wife ordered the Roasted Pork over Quinoa with sweet potatoes and it was very good. My Lomo Saltado was flavored really well, was super tasty and delicious. I really liked it. It came with a sauce that was really spicy and it complemented the dish really well. The woman at the counter was really personable and helped us since it was our first time, she was awesome! Thank you! She also recommended the little shortbread cookies with caramel and we bought some of those too. They were yummy. Totally recommend this place! Will definitely come again! read more

Great flavor great quality great name. The little bird logo is not to be overlooked, you get inside and they mean business. Aoli and sauce options galore, this spot comes packed with flavor. First time I was there I did steak saltado this time the chicken both excellent. You may want a bit more meat and less potatoes, but you'd be nitpicking. Apparently the sandwich is legendary too. We ordered carryout for an easy dinner. The bowls were filling and portions very nice. Mine lasted about a meal and a half. Loved the chicken and avocado quinoa bowl. Fresh ingredients every time. read more

I wish I took more photos of the menu and I believe there is a new chef? I saw some signs around the restaurant but didn't pay much attention (sorry!). But honestly the food and service and hospitality were great. I noticed the young lady at the register walked out to greet and help folks understand the menu and answer questions. She did this ALMOST every time, or maybe just for the confused customers- but it was helpful. It is a fast casual spot, with plenty of seating and nice enough to have a quick bite with friends. I chose a wrap, which is highly recommended; better version of a salad :) the friend I went with had a salad, which was a featured item and she thoroughly enjoyed it. read more

Hands down...one of my favorite spots to eat, on a regular basis. The service, the food, the flavor! The flavor OR sabor...is what this place is all about! The bread used for the sandwiches is freshly made each morning. It's hard not to go with a sandwich because of the bread. Yet, I eat there so often that I've tried the bowl and dinner plates. I'm a FAN of everything. I've even learned that you can do a bowl and go "half and half" with the sides. I like doing half salad and half quinoa with the bowls. The Turkey Meatball is my favorite. The mix of flavors and texture is perfection. Add the green hot sauce...but don't get it confused with Wasabi. This sauce has a kick! The Fish Plate is another favorite, I enjoy the coleslaw mix and peanuts. The Steak is quality meat...but a little too heavy for my liking as it comes with steak size french fries. Its a classic though! Everyone I bring usually orders that dish for their first time. Their faces say it all, a mouthful of deliciousness! Last but not least, I can't forget about the Chicken Cesar Wrap! Add a fried egg to it! Trust me...delicious! Don't leave and not try their homemade Flan or Caramel cookies. Wash everything down with a Peruvian beer or grab some wine from their selection. Mouthful, I wish you had more locations! :D read more

I am OBSESSED with Mouthful Eatery!! The blackened salmon bowl (it was a special) I had today was absolutely incredible - perfectly cooked, super fresh, and packed with so much flavor in every bite. EVERYTHING I've ever ordered from here has been consistently amazing!!! I come here weekly and I am NEVER, EVER disappointed. The quality, the taste, the portions - everything is just spot on every single time. If you're thinking about trying it, this is your sign... you NEED to go! After hearing so many rave reviews about Mouthful Eatery, I knew I had to finally make it over and give it a try. Their food definitely lives up to all the hype. Their Lomo Saltado Plate has a generous tasty, perfectly cooked meat combined with delicious sautéed tomatoes and onions and fries. A great dinner to leave you happy and satisfied. Definitely order the Mac and cheese. It is so hearty, cheesy, and delicious. I ordered a small as a side, but it could also easily be a meal. Plenty of open seating inside. A little pricier, but totally worth it. Good stop for some tasty lunch or dinner. read more
Coworker recommended this place as a lunch take-out option one day. Uber Eats the Lomo Saltado Plate. The meat was cooked perfectly with amazing sauce and seasoning, and the fries really added to the dish (instead of just being there as an afterthought). Great mac-and-cheese as well. Have also eaten there in person, and the food is just as good. Always a plus when the food is just as good delivered as you would get in person. Great service. read more
Lomo. Saltado. All. Day. Every. Day. If you enjoy Peruvian food- this is the place to be. When we are in town this is one of the go to places I enjoy eating at. The service is friendly and attentive. The food prep is fairly quick. And of course the food is delicious. We ordered a side of plantains which were hot, fresh, and crispy. We also ordered two desserts: the raspberry tiramisu was delicious, but I didn't really taste the coffee-ness part of the tiramisu, it tasted more like vanilla cake with whipped cream and raspberries on top. Giving this joint 5 glittery stars for hospitality and ambiance, but sadly, only 3 mediocre stars for the grub. Still, we were totally stoked when we walked in - their crazy-diverse menu reads like a foodie's love letter, with fresh salads, hearty bowls, sammies, soups, entrees galore, and condiments aplenty We ordered the: vegetarian salad bowl that had roasted onion, red/orange peppers, eggplant, and portobello sitting on top of salad/quinoa. Two stars, and that's being generous - this dish is a flavorless zombie that only comes to life with a serious condiment intervention, though I'll give them points for grilling it to perfection! Lomo saltado- Angus beef, sautéed red onion & roma tomato, steak fries + house aioli. 5 stars, tender meat, flavorful! Get extra house aioli. Chef special $24 Spinach /gouda stuffed chicken sitting on top of iserali cous-cousn sautéed spinach , apricots, onions, Aleppo pepper and pommergrante glaze. I'm starting to think this dish has an identity crisis - 2 stars for a perfectly cooked, juicy chicken that somehow still managed to fall flat. The pommergrante glaze was a highlight, with just the right balance of sweet and tart, but the cous cous was a one-trick pony and the other ingredients were MIA. Side of Mac n cheese four cheese blend, portobello cracklings, potato chip crust. Two stars - it was a culinary sleeping pill, technically edible but flavorlessly forgettable. Japeleno aioli is pleasant, the habanero aioli is a real hot-head - it'll have you cursing like a sailor in record time! The house aioli, however, is the real sauce of the operation - 5 stars for these incredible condiments that truly bring the heat and take home the MVP award! While my overall experience was decent, with 3 stars, the dishes majorly lacked flavor, but thankfully, the extra condiments I ordered helped make the meals more enjoyable and easier to finish. read more

Good food good mood Stopped here for a lunch with friend. I ordered a bowl with quinoa and Peruvian Steak. It was delicious, mouthwatering, and kicking all my tastebuds. My friend ordered a sandwich with crispy pork (it is a must have according to the restaurant). My friend enjoyed it Service was quick and attentive. Wow I'm very impressed! A healthy restaurant in thousand oaks that offers quinoa and wild cod fish, amazing. When I lived here long ago we didn't have such nice options, times have changed. I could actually move back again. read more
