First, the food was great. However, the service was absolute crap. I was seated promptly. But then waited :20 minutes, and had to ask, someone IF I had a server assigned to my table. Then I asked for coffee and a thimble of milk. Coffee came, no milk. Waited another 10 minutes for the server to take my order. Food came. Asked for salsa and hot sauce. That took some time. We came to The Galloping Hen before church while visiting a friend who was preaching, and wow, it was fantastic! The service was friendly, and once we were seated, everything came out quickly. My husband and I shared the chilaquiles, and the portion was more than enough for both of us. Our son ordered the Mickey Mouse pancakes, and they were surprisingly delicious! The bacon was cooked perfectly, nice and crispy, and everything we ate was excellent. Great food, great service, casual kitchen ambiance and a wonderful experience overall. The gravy was heavy on the flower and had a weird bouillon aftertaste with no sausage in it whatsoever. So that really kills the enthusiasm. The corned beef and Hash came out of a can so it was bland, but the hashbrowns were fried upon request and came out really well. For some reason, paying 4 dollars for a cup of coffee or $3.50 for a glass of iced tea just was not tempting. I also requested a side of avocado and some salsa to go on my omelette. The breakfast I had was quite hearty, very fresh and tasty... and it filled me up for sure !! It came out at a fairly reasonable time, but my plate of bacon and eggs came well before my biscuit so my eggs were cool before I got my full meal. Overall the food was good and the service was friendly. I think the timing with receiving food and drinks was off, but it could have just been a fluke.
