Fishbone Seafood has officially open and is serving up Southern comfort & Cajun-inspired soul food. I had the fried catfish and shrimp combo plate which was crispy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Don't sleep on their homemade dill tartar sauce! The hush puppies were some of the best I've had in these parts, and the collard greens tasted like true home cooking. I love that the collard greens were slightly salty and very flavorful. A good traditional collard greens. As for the fried catfish, phenomenal. Super light and crispy, perfect white meat fish (not gritty or dark). What really stood out though was the genuine warmth of the service. I was actually their first customer of the day and they surprised me with a slice of sweet potato pie. The staff took the time to chat with me, made me feel at home, and even walked me out, opening the door and helping me with my bag full of food. That kind of care is rare these days and I can safely say service is a 10/10. I felt that prices were reasonable for the amount of food given. This is def a tucked away spot and I hope more people find them. I really want a spot like this to make it and as they are new I really want them to feel welcomed and to have a good turn out. Parking was easy at lunchtime and the interior was clean and open. I opted to take my food Togo but they did have a few tables and high tops for dinning in. I'll definitely be back :)

Staff was really friendly and attentive. It was quiet, likely because we came by just after opening. I wasn't sure what fish to pick and asked to be surprised and they didn't disappoint. It was the red snapper and shrimp in the combo. It was fantastic. Up next is the shrimp po boy for next time

Just look at the food. It's so yummy honestly. I love that the batter isn't too heavy

A new seafood restaurant in town, had to check it out. Apparently, there are many other stores around Los Angeles, I had no idea. The prices are reasonable and the taste is good! I had the fish dinner (catfish) and it was more than enough for me alone, I saved half for lunch tomorrow. I live very close to the store and went straight home to enjoy my meal. I had to warm it up slightly. The red beans and rice and potato salad were very good. The peach Cobbler I'd skip next time. It was a pie filling with a bit of crust on top, nothing too exciting. I'll definitely be back, I'd like to try the other sides and the red snapper.

As close to New Orleans as you can get with fried shrimp. The fish is really good and staff is fantastic.

But it is REALLY loud. There were maybe 9 people in there and you had yell at the person next to you because it's all concrete and metal. Not sure who thought this would work but it definitely does not. Also doesn't look like anyone had a plan of what they wanted the space to be. Live music? DJ? The acoustics are going to be awful. It's a massive space with a bunch of tables and nothing else. It's quite simply just odd. As for the food, it's not good. Anyone who says otherwise is lying. Pretty bland and nothing is fresh. It's also outrageously overpriced. Chicken fajitas were meh and they were $27.00. We got shrimp and they were rubbery and came in a plastic bag, which was in a bucket. Weird. Also, no silverware. Only plastic. Just a headscratcher all around. The website says they have happy hour but they didn't have a separate menu. Just two dollars off drinks is what w were told. Probably why it was empty at 5:30. Also weird. They have this huge space and don't seem to have any idea what to do with it. Drinks were the same as the food. Wildly overpriced and the bartender didn't seem to know what they were doing. So, fitting for the overall concept. I was excited about the new bar because we have an office down the street but this looks like a hard pass for me. 5 stars is for the staff because they were great.

I came here recently for lunch with my wife. The place is huge. There is a massive bar area down a…read morefew steps, while the "dining" tables are adequately spaced "upstairs". The mall this place is in is a dump. There is a Mexican restaurant next door. I mention this because there is the crab/seafood menu and then there is an extensive Mexican food menu as well. I wonder if they just get the Mexican food from the restaurant next door? I don't know, nothing wrong in that. The tables have a paper "tablecloth" on them with plastic utensils. The reason for this is they don't use plates. They just bring you your seasoned seafood in a double plastic bag, and it is dumped out onto the paper "tablecloth". I saw this happening at the only other occupied table and immediately lost my appetite. My wife, undeterred, ordered some mussels. Ordinarily, we'll also order vegetables with any meal, but the side servings of vegetables are priced like filet mignon. I asked if I ordered the chips & guacamole, did it come with a serving of salsa? Alas, our server said no. What does a tiny amount of salsa cost a restaurant? 50 cents? So, I stuck with a glass of water. I was done. I couldn't bring myself to eat here. My wife ate a few of the mussels, digging them out from the plastic bags with her plastic fork. She said they were "ok" but we paid and departed, after a very poor experience. No pictures because I wasn't in the mood.

The breakfast burrito was big, but needed more ingredients/seasoning/flavor. Our service was a bit slow. Authentic Island Flavors at Luau Grill…read more My wife, our three sons, and I recently stopped by Luau Grill in Thousand Oaks, and it was one of those spots that instantly makes you feel at home. With its true mom and pop shop feel, this place delivers not just on flavor, but on that welcoming, no-frills atmosphere that makes you want to come back again and again. Entrées: We ordered the chicken katsu and kalbi short ribs, and both were outstanding. The chicken katsu was perfectly crispy on the outside while staying juicy and tender on the inside, paired with a flavorful sauce that brought everything together. The kalbi short ribs were just as impressive, marinated well with that sweet and savory balance you expect from great Hawaiian BBQ, and cooked to perfection with a nice char. Sides: Each plate came with white rice and macaroni salad, and both hit the mark. The rice was fluffy and a perfect base for the meats, while the macaroni salad was creamy, simple, and exactly what you want alongside a hearty Hawaiian meal. Appetizers: We also grabbed a classic spam musubi, and it did not disappoint. The spam was nicely seared with a slightly sweet glaze, sitting on perfectly seasoned rice and wrapped in seaweed. Simple, but done right. Ambience: The vibe here is as authentic as it gets. It truly feels like a small family-run spot where the focus is on good food and good service rather than anything flashy. That mom and pop atmosphere adds a lot of charm to the overall experience. Overall: Luau Grill is a must-visit if you're in Thousand Oaks and craving authentic Hawaiian food. Dining here with our three sons was easy and enjoyable, and from the quality of the dishes to the welcoming feel of the place, everything comes together for a great experience. Easily one of the best Hawaiian spots around, and definitely somewhere we'll be returning to.

I think I went to heaven when I bit into the Cajun style orange roughy. I've never had roughy before, only known about it's crazy long life, living over 200 years, but the smoky spicy seasoning was so addicting, and then it wrapped my tongue in a hug with beautifully flakey and sweet fish. But I'm certain this place could take the grossest fish in the world and make it the greatest meal I've ever had. Paired it with a delicious green salad and french fries since it comes with 2 sides. I was so stuffed by the end, if you threw me into the ocean I would probably sink in contentment. Also got the Athenian shrimp pasta, I think I died in heaven and reached second heaven. The world's greatest linguini, perfectly al dente, with deliciously juicy shrimp, tomatoes, feta, and 2 slices of soft buttery bread to soak up the sauce? The sweetest service too. Salad came out first and by the time the salad was done around 10 minutes later, steaming hot food magically appeared. I cannot believe how dead it was when we walked in, this place should have a line all the way to LA at all times. I did stifle a small laugh at the fish tacos. Then when I placed my order, I like to try things even if I take left overs so I asked for two appetizers and then a dinner plate and he said "two" then he goes and tell the other guy in Spanish how I wanted both appetizers. Now I didn't care that they were making a comment on that, I didn't want to take offense but it was as if I wasn't important enough for them to care that I'm sitting right there while they have a full blown conversation about what I ordered. Now the food sadly was not good. I was expecting some real flavors. The chicken looked delicious but it has no flavor. Absolutely nothing. The hummus was very graining and not at all tasty like others I have had. The tzatziki sauce had too much lemon that it over power the flavor. I've gone to many Mediterranean style restaurants and I know that the hummus and sauces can be made different but this one was not good. The food was the pita bread, that was actually very tasty. The rice and vegetables again no flavor. I'm not sure if maybe this was a bad day for the cook becuase based on the reviews I really thought I was going to get some tasty food.
