We just had our first experience at Red O and we will certainly be back soon. From the marvelous ambience to the magnificent service. It was such a delightful time. We were assisted and taken care of several times by a lovely women in a green blazer who really made our whole time here feel elevated. We couldn't thank her enough for how she made us feel all the way down to boxing up our chips and salsa at the end of the meal. Met up with our closest friends for drinks and dinner and have been wanting to try Red O at this location. We made a reservation to ensure seating because it did get very busy after we were seated. Great decor and design as we walked in with walls that had display pockets of the various Tequila, very cool concept. Spanish styling and color schemes along with foliage made the room feel like dining at a resort. We sat on the patio which the blinds were drawn because the weather was our typical "May Gray" for So Cal and slightly cool, but I am looking forward to returning when the weather does warm up and I can picture a resort style atmosphere while dining al fresco. Our server Darius was not only excellent he kept the evening lively and full of laughs. Being our first time there he suggested a few items and answered any questions that we had with a smile and a joke. Well done Darius! The drinks were simply delicious made with fresh ingredients and many to choose from, the menu choices were not of a typical Mexican restaurant. More complex ingredients and proteins and a unique flair. Shown below was the Duck con fit Taquitos, Mama Mia Che delizioso! Queso fundido was probably the best I have had yet served with house made corn tortillas. So many choices to choose from from appetizers to small plates to house specialties for entrees. Simply have to return to explore the menu further. Good portions and beautiful presentation served on stylish Spanish plates that match the resort ambiance. Loved how they remodeled and created their own space from the previous restaurant which we dined at many times. Staff was well trained and seen throughout the floor friendly and dressed well. Very impressive. Loved every aspect of Red O as well as the flavors, BUT my only complaint would be get some bigger tables! We originally were seated in a booth, very comfortable cushions but 4 people gathered around a small table wasn't working. We requested a change and sat at a 4 top which wasn't much bigger. Once our chips and salsa came with our drinks then our Queso Fundido and tortillas arrived we had no room on the table. Then our entrees arrived on the beautiful Spanish style oversized stoneware we were stacking things up just to get to our silverware. Must make a change, the table decor and beautiful stoneware plates are a signature look for you but you need room to display your work. And let's return to the chips and salsa, delicious house made salsa and freshly made chips but don't charge for those, your drinks and food are expensive or comparably priced for the Westlake Area you should be able to offer them as complimentary (just my opinion) I know in todays economy nothing is free but we did make up for it with drinks (7) drinks at $17.00 EA easily paid for the chips and salsa. Went to Red O for Mother's Day. 1st time there. So excited to go! *** Ambiance-4 stars ("Club music" was blasting. (Please turn it down). Decor-5 stars Service-5 stars. Very personable staff. Had to ask for water several times but other than that, great service. Diet Pepsi came in a can? Kind of low class for an upscale restaurant. Price-2 stars. Extremely expensive! Dinner for 3 $225. Did not order drinks and only had 2 appetizers. We each had 1 meal. Food-Salsa & guacamole-5 stars. Had the Enchiladas de Mole-4 stars but very small portions of rice & beans. Plata Cocina has the same exact meal for much less and is much more generous with the rice & beans. If I'm being honest, Plata's is better. Shrimp Ceviche-Weird, small and no flavor. Teenage son had the Shrimp and Lobster Enchiladas. He ate it but I think he would prefer a big steak burrito. Red O does not have burritos. If you want to celebrate a special event in your life, you will feel like a King and Queen here. Will definitely go back but will much more mindful of costs. read more

I came with my parents we enjoyed all the appetizer and waited for our food. When the food arrived, I could tell my steak was burnt. I cut into it and it was not medium like I had asked, but almost well done/ very chewy. The server was kind and offered to make it again. Everyone was almost done eating and my steak arrived. Once again, it was burnt. The inside was pink, but the outside was overly charred. Made the steak taste bitter. I didn't want them to make it again because at this point everyone was done eating. Second time here and a way different impression from a quieter Wednesday evening dining experience and a rock and rolling Friday evening! NOISY!!! Really LOUD! My friend and I found the noise deafening to the point that we were exhausted trying to talk to each other, it was a struggle to hear the waiter and we have zero hearing issues. They put us in the quietest part of their restaurant in the back. If you're okay with loud, this is your place! The staff was very attentive and greeted us with a welcoming smile from the front door and seated us immediately with our reservation. Make sure you make a reservation, especially on weekend nights. Place was packed. The decor is absolutely stunning, with a rich mixture of woods, upscale furniture. fixtures, and beautiful bottles of tequila and other fine liquors inset and displayed, almost like a museum, upon back lit wall coves. The Margarita menu is extensive and creative! Margaritas were all about $17.00. My friend ordered the Watermelon Margarita, the presentation was beautiful and a great kick to it. A little disconcerting to me was that they do not offer a wine or beer menu UNLESS you specifically ask for it (My second visit, second time I had to ask). I'm assuming that the margaritas and mixed drinks were more expensive and that's why they don't haul out the other drink menu. That said, they had a wonderful italian Pino Grigio for $13.00 per glass that was the best one I've ever had, and I've been to Italy several times. The waiter did try to upsell us quite a bit through the ordering process that really irritated my friend. It was pretty obvious. I was a waitress years ago, and I said they're just not trained to suggest a couple plates in different price ranges instead of picking out the bass that was the most expensive on the menu $57...etc. I'm sure we disappointed our waiter, but we ordered the chips and salsa for $3.00. Loved the hot kick of the salsa! And we both ordered a two taco combo plate, $24.00 each. It was a huge plate with rice and beans as well. A great price for the quantity of food for sure. Fish tacos (fried, no other option), carnitas taco were very good. I've had better, but they were tasty. They had the standard chicken, and also a vegetarian offering. I think I would give it another try on an off night when it might be quieter. My friend said she's never going back. A lot of people are going back because it was so jammed! Red O Taste Of Mexico! When you walk in you are greeted immediately by friendly staff, seated asap and then greeted and served by your server quickly. Our server was busy and even so, she was very attentive and made sure to check on us often. The food is pretty good. We enjoyed the different tacos, but my favorite was the carnitas with the chicharrones on top. The goat cheese tamales were good as well, although quite different from what I expected as they were a bit sweet. The chips and salsa are endless and pretty tasty, the spice sneaks up on you a bit but it's not overwhelming. The tres leches cake was decent and I will try other desserts when I return. Red O has a cool Red O outside next to a fire pit which I thought was cool. Inside you hear good Spanish music and it is decorated nicely. You can come here to celebrate friends and family, or for a nice date. It even looks like they have a nice private room for big parties that likely has to be reserved. You don't necessarily need a reservation but it doesn't hurt to have one. I suggest you give Red O a shot. I'll definitely be back! read more

Happy Hour Only This restaurant has been open in Westlake since August 2025 replacing a former steak restaurant in the plaza. You can find this restaurant near the shake shack on the back side of the Plaza. With plenty of parking found within the plaza if you do not mind to walk. Once you step into the plaza you will be treated to a relax vibes offering various seating. The restaurant offers seating around the bar, tables inside and outside on the patio perfect for those warm sunny days. Throughout the weekdays you can grab happy hour from 2-5pm and reverse happy hour at the bar. The happy hour at this restaurant is quite extensive with drink offerings: beer, wine and cocktails. Plus a significant menu of appetizers. Cocktails go for about 12 dollars and there is a drink for everyone. We enjoyed the ceviche- it was a shrimp ceviche. We were pleased that the ceviche was not fishy and was a decent size for a happy hour item. The ceviche came with plantain chips that were equally as good. For drinks, I started with a margarita and transitioned to a Bramble. Both were yummy in their own way. Also, we had a classic martini twist without the vermouth. All drinks were made perfectly! Victoria, our Bartender provided great service. We appreciated her attentiveness to us while we enjoyed our happy hour time. Wow--Red O absolutely delivered. From the moment you walk in, the design, bar, and seating area set the tone--beautiful, upscale, and such a great vibe. We started with the guac, duck taquitos, shrimp ceviche, and chicken tortilla soup, and every single appetizer was excellent. For entrées, we had the branzino, salmon, and sea bass--raves all around. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. We were celebrating my birthday, and they went above and beyond with a warm, personally written card, which was such a thoughtful touch. Visited RedO for a lunch meeting right at opening but overall I wasn't super impressed. The service was okay for it being lunch time. Ambiance was great and details on the tables were beautiful however the food for me was average. I ordered a taco plate and while the meats had great flavor, the shell itself was super hard to bite through and the other tortilla was super soggy. Rice and beans were decent and the Jamaica was good. This place for me would be a place to visit mainly for appetizers and drinks for a casual hang out or simple date night. read more

Came to check out the Happy Hour they have twice a day (2-5pm & 8:30-close, 10pm weekdays, and 11pm Friday and Saturday). This upscale Mexican restaurant is very nice, from the fire display pit out front to the wall display of colorful Tequila bottles inside. The Happy hour menu was very good. We tried the Duck taquitos, shrimp ceviche, scallop Aguachile , and the tuna tartare. There were also plantain chips and we asked for some tortilla chips. All were delicious! I especially liked the scallop aguachile, with that lime flavor and spicy kick. The drinks were good too! We tried the Tamarindo Loco, the Spicy Tulum Mango Mojito and the Blackberry Bramble. Very disappointed with my visit to Red O. I was excited to try a new restaurant for my birthday, but the experience fell short from the start. My friend and I walked in and the host just stared at us, no "hi," no greeting, no "welcome to Red O." We had to break the silence ourselves by saying, "table for two," and were immediately asked, "oh, you don't have a reservation?" FYI, I double check the website and it doesn't mention it is an only reservation based restaurant. Also, it was empty. Only 3 other parties there at the time. We also weren't given any explanation about the seating options, which was unfortunate. The areas in the restaurant are slightly distinct from one another, so it would be great to clarify to people that one area might be more casual seating than the other. Which includes whether we would like to be seated outside and enjoy the fresh air or inside. Considering this is an "upscale" restaurant, the waitress's attire felt very casual--almost like she had just come from Pilates. Implementing a uniform could help elevate the level of professionalism and better match the restaurant's atmosphere. Pros: The food was good overall. For the fajitas in particular, I'd recommend using the juices at the bottom of the skillet, as the meat itself was a bit under-seasoned. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, the decor and style create a really nice atmosphere, which made the service experience even more disappointing. I came for a work lunch, about 9 people. Parking is super easy because it's a large open mall. Rather than ordering individual entrees, we ordered multiple smaller dishes to share The food was amazing, and the servers were coming by nonstop to help us with everything we needed. I believe we ordered the duck taquitos, ahi tuna tartare, goat cheese tamales, plantain chips and guac, steak and shrimp fajitas, and then finished with churros for dessert. I also had a couple of cocktails. The steak for the fajitas was super soft, definitely my favorite of the bunch. Overall a great experience, especially for large parties. My friends and I have been dying to try Red O since they opened a few months back and finally made good on our dinner date promise to come. Red O was everything we hoped for and then some. The décor and aesthetic are next-level, resort-style vibes, rich details, and such intentional design throughout the entire restaurant. It's a beautiful place to eat at and great for celebrating any special occasion. The service? Impeccable. They surprised us with personalized birthday cards and the sweetest little tres leches dessert. Even on a first visit, they make you feel like regulars. Huge shoutout to our server Renée, he was an absolute vibe who kept us laughing all night. He knew the menu inside and out and gave us fire recommendations. We absolutely went in on the cocktails: margaritas, mezcal beauties, piña coladas...not a bad sip in sight. My friend even braved the iconic tequila cart (highly recommend if you want the full experience). Food-wise, we ordered like we were filming our own tasting episode. The apps were all hits, the queso fundito and tuna tartare were table favorites, and I was obsessed with the goat cheese tamales....sweet, savory, and so comforting. For mains, everything was plated beautifully and tasted just as good. My blackened salmon over cauliflower risotto? Truly some of the best salmon I've ever had. Took my mom here for an early Mother's Day. Made a reservation at 12:00 though a reservation was not needed. Loved the decor and since it was a weekend brunch time, they had a tequila cart near the entrance with some fancy bottles of tequila. There's also a covered outdoor patio area. Our server was very nice and told her we were celebrating an early mother's day. Didn't try any margaritas but got chips and salsa for $3 and ceviche to start. The ceviche only came with 3 tostadas for 4 people which was annoying. They should have flagged that or offered an extra tostada when we ordered. I got a tortilla soup which came in a large bowl for $10. On the oiler side but pretty good flavor. My husband liked his enchiladas and my parents liked their combo chicken shrimp fajitas but said they lacked some flavor. I think we found our new favorite spot! We stopped by tired with no expectations but a heat lamp and food but we got so much more! First of all, service is uncommonly good. Joey is warm, thoughtful and genuine, as was Anais. Even the front desk was "present", so to speak. Serious kudos to the hiring staff and the training & management team. Rarely is service so clearly at the forefront these days. Even the wandering guitarist was warm and kind. Anais and Joey made it so evident that it really meant something to them that clients feel cared for and have a great meal! I do not know how they do it, but they do. The food - we had shrimp fajitas and split it and they were so luscious! The peppers were perfectly seasoned, the shrimp plump and juicy and guac and plantains so yummy! Then we had fish tacos, nice flavor and yummy - be ware of the beans if not a meat or pork eater, ask and you will receive a delicious vegetarian version. We also ordered the tuna tartar which is very balanced flavor wise, and we had the street corm which might have been my favorite after the fajitas. I ordered a cocktail which they made for me (I called it the Sonj - haha) - smoky housemade pineapple mezcal, artichoke liquor & pineapple juice. It was incredibly refreshing and not too sweet. They also have a full list of margaritas and other drinks. The guitarist was great, the ambiance surprisingly relaxing and beautiful, very Tulum-esque and overall, it was a great time. It's great to have an upscale Mexican restaurant in this area again! The vibe is super cool, kind of modern rustic with big hanging basket lamps and pretty bottles that are lit with multiple colors. Seems like a good place to go after work with friends or a trendy date spot as well or even just a good fun family meal out. Ambiance was classy and atmospheric while simultaneously being hip and upscale at the same time. I really enjoyed my meal there. From the start, the homemade chips and salsa were worth every penny. (And they're bottomless!) The salsa was insanely good. I am a sucker for chunky salsa with decently-sized tomatoes and plenty of onions and this hit the spot, I could have filled up on this alone. The spice level was *chef's kiss* and I could have ordered buckets of this. I'm glad I didn't though because the fajitas had chicken that was really tender and I devoured it. I was so grateful they offered crunchy tacos as well. Flavors were juicy and zesty and bold and well-seasoned. I could tell the quality was super good in every bite. This place has everything I want in a Mexican restaurant from ambiance to taste to just being cool! I want to come back and try happy hour which seems to have a pretty decent menu! It is super nice with a beautiful atmosphere kind of reminds me a little bit of Javier's. My mom's skinny margarita was delicious, perfect. I ordered the crispy chicken tacos. It was amazing and for an appetizer we had the goat cheese tamales. My mom got the mole enchiladas and we all love dark food and we finished off with butter cake, dessert which was to die for! The countdown is finally over. Red O Westlake opened. The hours are limited. No lunch right now. They usually open around 3pm but always check the website just in case the schedule changes. The service was average as they are still trying to get their feet wet since they recently opened. The food is tasty but needs just more favor with the carnitas. They charge $4 for chips and salsa so you need to ask for a basket of chips if you want them. It is not automatic like the old days. The ambiance was alive with lots of new comers visiting for the first time. Will give this location another try when they are not so new. read more

We visited Red O Restaurant in Thousand Oaks last night, and I have to say, the restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful. The décor, the atmosphere, and the overall vibe are on point -- it really feels like a special place to dine. Service: The service was impeccable. The salsa, in fact, was one of the best I've ever had -- full of flavor and a perfect start to the meal. We ordered fajitas, tacos, margaritas, and beer. The margaritas were great, and the presentation was as good as the taste. The issue, unfortunately, was with the entrées. For the price point, the food just didn't deliver the quality or portion size expected. The fajitas in particular were underwhelming -- very little steak, and not seasoned with the bold flavors you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. The tacos were fine, but again, not memorable enough to match the elevated setting or justify the price. Message to Management (GM & Chef): You truly have an amazing restaurant here -- the design, the vibe, the service, and the drinks are all outstanding. But for the price you're charging, the food itself needs to be better. Guests will pay for the experience, but they also expect food that matches the beauty and energy of the restaurant. A little more attention to seasoning, flavor, and portion consistency would go a long way. Finally this Red O location has opened. I am from OC so we had Red O in NB 10 years ago. Glad to see it is here in the valley. West Lake desperately needs something new. It's a beautiful restaurant with amble of parking. The service was wonderful and friendly. I love chips and salsa the most. The salsa was fresh and tasty. The seabass was greasy, with a little too much oil. Trying to eat healthy but it didn't help. The steak and salad were ok. The tortilla soup was on the salty side, lesser salt would make it perfect. I understand the restaurant just opened for two weeks so it needs time. I will come back in a few months to try again. No matter what, it is a great addition to the valley. read more

We had a great opening afternoon here today. Welcome, Red O! We've been waiting. You'll enter into a space that feels like you're in a resort in Tulum. Aaaahhhh. It's white, light and bright. The interior decorator went above and beyond to create this magnificent space. Be sure to plan to just relax and center here. It's too dreamy to be rushed. You'll quickly forgot 805 Public School or the beloved Grill on the Alley was once here. Rick Bayless has another win here. This casual meets chic spot serves up elegant and sophisticated Mexican delights. Start with some chips or the ceviche. The enchiladas and tacos are delicious. Or maybe try a large entree. I suspect the branzino is the star; I plan to try next time. Pair it with a cocktail. Consider the sunburn -- a spicy watermelon margarita. It's not going to taste how you think. It's better! There are non alcoholic treats too. Finish the night with dessert of cheesecake or the buttercake. The cheesecake is a show worthy of a photos of a big celebration, if you desire an experience dessert. Don't forget happy hour at the bar! Or the tequila cart. So much pizazz awaits you. Beautiful decor. Service was friendly, but they may have been short staffed. The food was picture perfect, but some items lacked flavor. The goat cheese tamales needed something to add oomph, as did the breakfast burrito. The duck taquitos were excellent. I should've saved some of the flavorful dip for other menu items. I also enjoyed the empanadas. Carnitas were typical, although the tortillas were made in house. Cocktails were outstanding!! The espresso martini had Amaretto, which made it decadent. Came in with my wife for a casual night out. Place was packed, but we found two seats at the bar. Service was great and the bartender Seth was attentive and quick. Duck taquitos and the Tuna tartare were also fantastic! Overall a great experience with good food and drinks. read more

Sorry, the food is very expensive. For two plates and two drinks, I paid $200?!?! Service is not to the par at all, and they charge 18% regardless. Food is good and ambiance is very good. But for one quarter of money you spend, you can have a great dinner and drink in an other restaurant including el torito. It is insanely expensive to the point you feel they are taking advantage of you! read more

I absolutely love coming here for brunch on the weekends. It's absolutely beautiful to sit outside on the patio. The service is great as always and I always feel like I'm being taken care of. The chilaquiles is my favorite dish and I customize it to have both red and green sauces. The lemon ricotta pancakes were divine and so soft. Overall, Red O excels at everything they make. This place is the whole package no matter time of day you come at. 10/10 for everything with food, ambiance, and service! read more

We absolutely love this place. From the fresh ceviche with the plantain chips to the delicious chopped salad you really can't go wrong. Their fajitas are fresh and yummy with homemade tortillas. I do feel like they're missing something though.. a side of guac/sour cream might help. The restaurant has beautiful decor throughout and service is usually pretty good. Walked in without a reservation as we weren't sure where to have dinner. This was a business catch up session and found the restaurant on Yelp. The food and drink photos looked very appealing. Parking was a breeze. We were greeted promptly and our phone number was used for check in. Not sure why, because we were seated straight away. I requested a both , and the staff was able to accommodate us outside. It was a chilly evening, but the outside patio heaters made the atmosphere comfortable and cozy. The service was prompt and friendly. We ordered drinks recommended by our server and they were beautiful and delicious. The salsa that came with the tortilla chips was AMAZING. The rest of our food was delicious, but came out too fast. We were still working on our appetizers. Will return if back in the area. read more

If you're sitting at the bar at Red O Restaurant, ask for David. Seriously. The drinks are exceptional (balanced, fresh, and beautifully made), and the food is just as amazing every single time. You can tell a lot of care goes into everything that comes out of the kitchen and behind the bar. David made the experience next-level: friendly, attentive, and clearly knows his craft. He gave great recommendations and made us feel welcome without hovering which is exactly what you want in a great bartender. Red O already has the vibe, but David is what makes it memorable. We'll definitely be back and sitting at the bar again. read more

Loud, (at least inside, patio may be quieter) Excellent Service (though a little hard sell on the tequila) Food was great - (though i can't recommend the plantain chips as they were quite bland and would prefer the guacamole to be made table side so one can customize it.) Short Rib Enchiladas were outstanding. House "Skinny Bitch" Margaritas strong and tasty. Expensive, yes but I hear they have a great happy hour... I'll try that next. :) read more
