The service is always good. Very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is itself is beautiful. I always get the ribeye or the branzino. Both are always normally delicious. Today was a doozie.......... I came with my parents we enjoyed all the appetizer and waited for our food. When the food arrived, I could tell my steak was burnt. I cut into it and it was not medium like I had asked, but almost well done/ very chewy. The server was kind and offered to make it again. Everyone was almost done eating and my steak arrived. Once again, it was burnt. The inside was pink, but the outside was overly charred. Made the steak taste bitter. I didn't want them to make it again because at this point everyone was done eating. I cut away the burnt parts and ate what I could. Everything else was delicious but I am leaving kinda hungry and disappointed.

Came here on a Saturday night before seeing a comedy show and wow is this place STUNNING. Truly a beautiful restaurant, great service, yummy (and strong) drinks, and great food! Families, dates, young and old - everyone was dining here. They give generous portions so you'll definitely be full. Parking? FREE. I love Thousand Oaks. The center it's in can get busy, but you'll find a spot!

What a fantastic lunch at Red O in Thousand Oaks. We were greeted by Graelyn was kind, friendly and had excellent customer service skills. She sat us at a lovely table in the outdoor patio. Daniel was our amazing server assisted by the hard working professional Armando and the stellar Oliver. We started with frozen margaritas, chips and salsa and then ordered the same dish, the enchiladas suizas. The dining experience was fantastic. Good food, excellent staff and a serene and cozy ambiance. What a fabulous lunch and time we had at Red O. We look forward to future visits. Highly recommended

First time!! Super cute and good vibes. We went for happy hour, although happy hour prices were still pretty high. The food we got was delicious and pretty spicy so beware! Highly recommend the tacos and ceviche. We also got the butter cake which was super delicious! They got the food out pretty quickly and the staff was great.

Ambiance is on point , beautiful tile textures and design. Service was excellent Nina was so polite and friendly. She was knowledgeable about the menu. Everything is made to order and fresh. The food was amazing, I had the two selections taco plate. And my daughter had the chicken tortilla soup with a Ceasar salad. We will definitely be back. No food photos it was too good!

Red O Taste Of Mexico! When you walk in you are greeted immediately by friendly staff, seated asap and then greeted and served by your server quickly. Our server was busy and even so, she was very attentive and made sure to check on us often. The food is pretty good. We enjoyed the different tacos, but my favorite was the carnitas with the chicharrones on top. The goat cheese tamales were good as well, although quite different from what I expected as they were a bit sweet. The chips and salsa are endless and pretty tasty, the spice sneaks up on you a bit but it's not overwhelming. The tres leches cake was decent and I will try other desserts when I return. Red O has a cool Red O outside next to a fire pit which I thought was cool. Inside you hear good Spanish music and it is decorated nicely. You can come here to celebrate friends and family, or for a nice date. It even looks like they have a nice private room for big parties that likely has to be reserved. You don't necessarily need a reservation but it doesn't hurt to have one. I suggest you give Red O a shot. I'll definitely be back!

Happy Hour Only This restaurant has been open in Westlake since August 2025 replacing a former steak restaurant in the plaza. You can find this restaurant near the shake shack on the back side of the Plaza. With plenty of parking found within the plaza if you do not mind to walk. Once you step into the plaza you will be treated to a relax vibes offering various seating. The restaurant offers seating around the bar, tables inside and outside on the patio perfect for those warm sunny days. Throughout the weekdays you can grab happy hour from 2-5pm and reverse happy hour at the bar. The happy hour at this restaurant is quite extensive with drink offerings: beer, wine and cocktails. Plus a significant menu of appetizers. Cocktails go for about 12 dollars and there is a drink for everyone. We enjoyed the ceviche- it was a shrimp ceviche. We were pleased that the ceviche was not fishy and was a decent size for a happy hour item. The ceviche came with plantain chips that were equally as good. For drinks, I started with a margarita and transitioned to a Bramble. Both were yummy in their own way. Also, we had a classic martini twist without the vermouth. All drinks were made perfectly! Victoria, our Bartender provided great service. We appreciated her attentiveness to us while we enjoyed our happy hour time. We look forward to another visit for dinner or lunch to sample more of the menu! Cheers!

Ambience is beautiful and classy as always. The food is amazing. It's a modern take to a Mexican and American cuisine with lots of flavor. The mixed drinks were done nicely. They have a good selection of top shelf liquor as well especially their Tequila. Lots of no additives tequila selection available. Service was good as always. Our server was very attentive and friendly. Definitely recommend.

Wow--Red O absolutely delivered. From the moment you walk in, the design, bar, and seating area set the tone--beautiful, upscale, and such a great vibe. We started with the guac, duck taquitos, shrimp ceviche, and chicken tortilla soup, and every single appetizer was excellent. For entrées, we had the branzino, salmon, and sea bass--raves all around. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. We were celebrating my birthday, and they went above and beyond with a warm, personally written card, which was such a thoughtful touch. The standout, though, was the service--truly 5-star. Attentive, friendly, and seamless the entire night. Even the bathrooms are gorgeous and well-maintained, which says a lot. Highly recommend for a special night out--can't wait to go back.

Visited RedO for a lunch meeting right at opening but overall I wasn't super impressed. The service was okay for it being lunch time. Ambiance was great and details on the tables were beautiful however the food for me was average. I ordered a taco plate and while the meats had great flavor, the shell itself was super hard to bite through and the other tortilla was super soggy. Rice and beans were decent and the Jamaica was good. This place for me would be a place to visit mainly for appetizers and drinks for a casual hang out or simple date night.

Came to check out the Happy Hour they have twice a day (2-5pm & 8:30-close, 10pm weekdays, and 11pm Friday and Saturday). This upscale Mexican restaurant is very nice, from the fire display pit out front to the wall display of colorful Tequila bottles inside. The Happy hour menu was very good. We tried the Duck taquitos, shrimp ceviche, scallop Aguachile , and the tuna tartare. There were also plantain chips and we asked for some tortilla chips. All were delicious! I especially liked the scallop aguachile, with that lime flavor and spicy kick. The drinks were good too! We tried the Tamarindo Loco, the Spicy Tulum Mango Mojito and the Blackberry Bramble. They have other drinks I'm sure we're going to try next time we come here. Service was fast and our waitress was so friendly and attentive! Don't be surprised if there's a line because people line up for the Happy hour. Come check this place out, enjoy and be happy or get happy! Happy Nom Nom!

Very disappointed with my visit to Red O. I was excited to try a new restaurant for my birthday, but the experience fell short from the start. My friend and I walked in and the host just stared at us, no "hi," no greeting, no "welcome to Red O." We had to break the silence ourselves by saying, "table for two," and were immediately asked, "oh, you don't have a reservation?" FYI, I double check the website and it doesn't mention it is an only reservation based restaurant. Also, it was empty. Only 3 other parties there at the time. We also weren't given any explanation about the seating options, which was unfortunate. The areas in the restaurant are slightly distinct from one another, so it would be great to clarify to people that one area might be more casual seating than the other. Which includes whether we would like to be seated outside and enjoy the fresh air or inside. Considering this is an "upscale" restaurant, the waitress's attire felt very casual--almost like she had just come from Pilates. Implementing a uniform could help elevate the level of professionalism and better match the restaurant's atmosphere. Pros: The food was good overall. For the fajitas in particular, I'd recommend using the juices at the bottom of the skillet, as the meat itself was a bit under-seasoned. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, the decor and style create a really nice atmosphere, which made the service experience even more disappointing. I would recommend this restaurant for people who just want a place to hang out and have a drink, as the service tends to leave you on your own.

I came for a work lunch, about 9 people. Parking is super easy because it's a large open mall. Rather than ordering individual entrees, we ordered multiple smaller dishes to share The food was amazing, and the servers were coming by nonstop to help us with everything we needed. I believe we ordered the duck taquitos, ahi tuna tartare, goat cheese tamales, plantain chips and guac, steak and shrimp fajitas, and then finished with churros for dessert. I also had a couple of cocktails. The steak for the fajitas was super soft, definitely my favorite of the bunch. Overall a great experience, especially for large parties. On a side note, they had quite a nice playlist of music going as well.

The vibe is industrial and low-lit, like the kind of bar where the walls have stories but won't snitch. Small space, metal-and-concrete aesthetic, but somehow still warm and cozy. Perfect for a date night or a "let me mentally unpack my life over cocktails" hang with my best friend. What keeps me coming back? The bartenders actually listen. I can walk up and give the vaguest description -- "classic but not sweet, strong but not too whiskey-forward, smooth but still gives main character energy" -- and they'll just... create it. They've made me drinks that aren't even on the menu -- Army Navy, Aviation, etc. -- and every single one was spot on. They always manage to find the right drink for me, which is honestly a skill more people should have. The servers are genuinely nice, the liquor selection is solid, and the energy is chill without being pretentious. I've also heard there's a speakeasy hidden in here somewhere, and trust me, one day I'll find it like I'm unlocking a side quest. Definitely one of my favorite bars in Thousand Oaks -- industrial vibes, great people, and bartenders who match drinks to my personality better than most men can.

The tasting itself was $88 and it serves 9 courses. I recommend having it if you aren't sure what to eat. All the dishes were presented nicely and tasted wonderful. I do appreciate they remember how I like my meat...and I trust they will get their consistency place which will move them from excellent now to GREAT. The menu is mostly the same (for those that loved their original menu - the chawanmushi egg custard and chicken wings are still there, though the chicken wings lost a little of their unique and beguiling crispness, which I hope they will find again. They flavours are still off the hook...The shishito peppers and whole squid seem to be missing) They also added a tasting menu which, for those unfamiliar with Charcoal Niku's style of modern Asian fusion cuisine, is a great introduction. At $88 for 9 courses ($118 for a one serving sake and wine pairing) the price is actually quite reasonable for the quality of the ingredients, prep, and presentation. All in all, I am very glad they are back, and if you haven't tried them, I could not recommend Charcoal Niku more. It's a restaurant wrapped in soft light and clean lines, where the waterfall outside performs like scenery designed exclusively for diners. You can sit indoors or outdoors, but the experience is never "inside" anything--it feels like dining in a terraced garden without wind, bugs, or the risk of a leaf landing in your omelette. Civilization perfected. The setting is serene, composed, elegant. Staff glide rather than walk. Voices are measured. Service is professional without stiffness--warmth without overreach. Our server, Ashley, deserves her own paragraph. Ashley is the kind of server who makes you want to write a thank-you card to corporate. Patient, knowledgeable, poised under questioning that would have made lesser servers google "salmon rillette meaning." She moved with brisk elegance--the kind that suggests she likes her job, respects the kitchen, and possibly knows more than all of us at the table combined. If Four Seasons built a restaurant from hospitality alone, it would look like her. Now--the food. Or more accurately, the bread, which deserves a short documentary special. Fresh bread is not unusual. House-made dough is vaguely common. But milled-in-house flour? That's a plot twist. Most places brag about "fresh daily," but Coin & Candor gently implies, We grew this bread from the atomic level. Bread isn't served--it's birthed. Ordered like an entrée, prepared like a ceremony, and worth every moment of anticipation. It arrives warm, structured, aromatic, like the beginning of a friendship. Spread across it, the salmon rillette tastes like the ocean woke up early, showered, and arrived on time. Tender, fresh, lightly smoked, with marinated red onion and capers providing bright little bursts of acidity. On warm bread, it becomes a joyful ensemble--salmon at the microphone, capers on percussion, bread holding the bass line. The Huevos Rancheros deserve reverence. Traditionally, it's a hearty mess--beans and eggs mingling in chaos. Here, it was architecture. A crisp tortilla foundation, decadent beans, and an egg crowned with a yolk so orange it could have been harvested from a chicken living its best life--sun, grass, jazz music. It tasted like rancheros refined into royalty. In our joking table summary: Huevos Equestrian Center. Elegant, composed, yet still Mexican at heart. The risotto was creamy and balanced, every grain distinct yet unified, like polite dinner guests. Greens added lift, seasoning was confident, texture neither mush nor al dente protest. A dish that whispers rather than shouts, but lingers. And then--the French omelette, a culinary high-wire act. Many proclaim they can make one. Few do. Coin & Candor delivered fluff--soft, mousse-like, lightly folded without browning, as if the chef had spent hours whispering encouragement to the eggs. Mushrooms and cheese rested inside like secrets. A bright arugula salad completed the plate with refreshing contrast. If omelettes had royalty, this one could claim lineage. Coffee followed--yes, it was good. But by then the restaurant had already won us. Coin & Candor succeeds because it understands balance: luxury without arrogance, comfort without casualness, technique without ego. It is the Four Seasons expressed through food--not flashy, not loud, but deeply intentional. You leave both satisfied and gently impressed, like someone just told you a clever joke in perfect dry English tone and you only fully appreciated it on the drive home. We will return. Happily. And next time, we'll start with the bread again--because once you've had flour milled with devotion, it's difficult to go back.

Let's start with their FRITTO MISTO, a mouthwatering combination of fried calamari and shrimp. The addictive sauce that accompanies it is a must-order, and we often find ourselves ordering extra! For a hearty side, try their grandmother Nonna's meatballs, POLPETTE DELLA NONNA. They're incredibly tasty and a great way to start your meal. If you're a fan of zucchini blossoms, you'll absolutely love their FIORI DI ZUCCA RIPIENI. It's a delightful dish that's sure to impress. One of my favorite salads is their INSALATA DELLA CASA, which is a refreshing and healthy option. Adding grilled shrimp takes it to the next level. Now, let's talk about their main courses. Their seafood and pasta dishes are all mouthwatering, but here are our favorites: 1) CACIO E PEPE: This dish is incredibly delicious and goes to another level when you add their grilled shrimp and truffle. 2) BRANZINO: Their seafood is cooked perfectly every time, and they often have HALIBUT as a special dish, which we love as a great alternative. 3) BOLOGNESE: Our son absolutely devours this dish, and it's a great option for kids. 4) STROZZAPRETI: This pasta dish is another great choice, filled with a lot of flavor. 5) LASAGNA: It used to be our number one dish until we started exploring their menu. 6) BRASATO DI MANZI: This is an ultra-delicious bone-in slow-braised beef short rib dish that's out of this world! And finally, let's talk about dessert. Their NONNA'S CAKE is the best butter cake ever! It's their grandmother's own recipe, and it's a must-try. Try to save room or split it with a partner, because you'll want to savor every bite of this magical treat!

We ordered carbonara with shaved fresh black truffles, Caesar salad, braised short rib and tiramisu. For my daughter's birthday, they gave her complementary vanilla bean panna cotta. We Loved everything! Only thing I'm not a fan of and it happens all the time, they always have three hostesses. Whenever I walk in, they're in their own little group chatting, looking at their phone's, laughing. They never look who walks through the door until I walk up and say hi then they turn around. They should always be attentive. Especially during a busy dinner time.

This place is ALL about the food. This is kinda a hole-in-the-wall restaurant but very clean with cute decorations, pictures of the food on the walls, generous indoor seating and pleasant staff. I purchased a dozen of their homemade/handmade tortillas some months back to make enchiladas at home and the tortillas were delicious and so we finally got around to trying their menu. Amazing food. Handmade street tacos, Birria tacos, chips and salsa, agua frescas, everything was incredible. Nothing, and I mean nothing, tops homemade tortillas in tacos. Very fresh and delicious with no gross feeling afterwards. On top of that, the prices are very reasonable, with their homemade tacos costing the same or less as other local taco joints that don't make their own. The menu is not huge, but it is varied. If you have not yet tried this place, please do.
