Lovely restaurant. Excellent food, great service and great environment. I've been here plenty of times and this time I Took my daughter here for her 17th birthday and she loved it. We ordered carbonara with shaved fresh black truffles, Caesar salad, braised short rib and tiramisu. For my daughter's birthday, they gave her complementary vanilla bean panna cotta. We Loved everything! Only thing I'm not a fan of and it happens all the time, they always have three hostesses. Whenever I walk in, they're in their own little group chatting, looking at their phone's, laughing. They never look who walks through the door until I walk up and say hi then they turn around. We love Nonna for special occasions, holidays and birthdays. The restaurant itself is very modern, upscale and hip. It has wonderful ambiance and vibe. We love to sit out on the patio under the string lights. Our server this last visit was very helpful and friendly. We all loved what we ordered and even had dessert. Went to Nonna's with a reservation at 6 and the place was already busy, which is always a good sign. There was a lot of parking available in the lot, which made it convenient. What stood out the most was definitely the interior design and atmosphere, along with the service. The interior had a really cozy vibe and the staff were very kind, attentive, and on top of everything. I ordered the ricotta e spinaci and Nonna's cake. The pasta had really good flavor and texture, but the portion was small in my opinion. The Nonna's cake wasn't bad either, just a little more on the dry side, but the ice cream that came with it helped balance it out. Came here with some last night. Heard such promising things and sadly was disappointed for having to make the trek from the city. Service was great and ambiance was nice but sadly the dinner entirely missed the mark. Ceasar salad was entirely dry and flavorless after the waitress told us how good it is. And I had the bolognese which had zero flavor and was completely disappointing. Last had the nonna cake for dessert and it was entirely forgettable. People speak so highly about this place but unfortunately I did not experience what others may have. Not sure if the kitchen had an off day but dinner was entirely forgettable, especially for a Hartley charged. read more

Came in with a 6pm reservation as a party of 2 and was seated immediately on their patio. We had to come back since their pizza oven wasn't working last time we were here. Steph was our server and she was great about suggesting their specials and checking up on us. Everything was so delicious. We had the Nonna Spritz, Loredana, Genevieve, and Espresso Martini. I had the Cacio E Pepe and my boyfriend had the Diavola pizza. Their parmesan cheese is so so delicious, and the sauce on their pizza was also amazing. My only complaint is the crust on the Diavola wasn't super strong and it was difficult to pick up and eat. Did not discover this place until after ten years of living in the area. Not sure why but I thought it was a hair place lol! But the food is legit. Homemade, locally grown, and so curated right down to the atmosphere. The place is a work of art, and the strozzapreti (sp?) was divine. I am looking for ward to trying their short rib on the bone, and about three or four different desserts next time I return. It's hard to find really good Italian food in Southern California. But guess what? Nonna is hitting on all cylinders, starting with the bread and the pre mixed olive oil and herb dip. Went with a group of ten we started with heirloom tomatoes with baritta cheese which was out of this world and everyone was loving the calamari. Most had pasta but I had chicken parm and it comes with mashed potato's and asparagus. It was excellent, our server was great she made sure everything was going right! The atmosphere is right on we sat in the patio and it was so enjoyable. They have a couple of patios, a piano bar and the small indoor dining area. Nonna is one of our favorite date night places. The atmosphere is lovely and quiet. We started with cocktails, which I highly recommend. Their bartender is fantastic. We got the Old Fashioned and The Genevieve. Both delicious. The Genevieve is very rich, so keep that in mind (very sweet). For an appetizer, we got the zucchini blossoms. We dip them in the tapenade that comes with the bread (delish). They are pricey and is a small serving for the price, but they are tasty. For our entrees, we got one of their pasta dishes, which my husband said was one of his favorite pasta dishes he's had in a while. The only thing keeping this from 5 stars is the Branzino. Unfortunately, it did not taste fresh and was not well seasoned. Definitely would not order again. My usual is their salmon, which I've always enjoyed. Overall, this is a solid date-night spot with excellent cocktails and tasty pasta. read more

Impeccable service, but mid Italian food, especially for the price. The standouts were the fritto misto calamari and the prosciutto on the pizza. The calamari has the right balance of tender seafood with a crunchy batter exterior. The prosciutto is thin and nicely tender. Everything else, I thought was just okay. First, the crust on complimentary bread was too hard that it was painful to eat. We also got the octopus in addition to the calamari for appetizer, and thought the octopus was overcooked and the portion to be small. For our pastas, we got carbonara, cacio e pepe and vongole. First, the pasta portions run kind of small for the price. Flavor wise, the vongole tasted the best. The carbonara was a little too salty and dry, and the guanciale pieces were fried way too crispy that it was all dried up. I tried a bit of the cacio e pepe as well, but wasn't that impressed. We got the Crema Mascarpone Crema de Nutella because we saw someone else across the room get this and thought it looked interesting, plus I love Nutella. It looks very fancy, but the ingredients were very basic for what it was. Just mascarpone and Nutella presented to look much more fancy than it already is. Compared to other Italian restaurants in the area, I'd pick Basta over Nonna any day. Their portions are larger for about the same price, and the cooking stood out more (like their octopus). read more

Nonna was highly recommended by a client, so we decided to make reservations for dinner. I was easily able to secure a table via OpenTable a day in advance, and since it was a nice day outside, we were seated in the covered parklet. Despite being tucked away behind a med spa in a quiet strip mall, we were greeted by a lively atmosphere - and live music - upon passing through the front door. Ravenous after a long day at work, we ordered the grilled octopus and fried zucchini blossoms to share, and our server brought out a basket of fresh bread and tapenade for dipping. The octopus was the showstopper, and the accompaniments (pickled onion, baby potatoes, aioli, and sweet orange) complemented the saltiness of the octopus. While I was tempted to order the truffle special on the menu (they have a full menu dedicated to truffle season), I had been craving classic bolognese. The pasta was served al dente and loaded with meaty bolognese sauce. The sauce to pasta ratio was a bit high, but I solved this predicament by scooping up the leftover sauce with the bread at our table. For dessert, we shared the tiramisu, which was served in a cute little jar. We left very full and satisfied after our meal. read more

I've been to them before so I was excited to go back again. My previous experience was probably a 4 or 5 star. We ordered the Carbonara,Carpaccio and the Short Rib. The Short Rib was DELICIOUS. Our waitress recommended to us and said their entire staff loves it/is their favorite. It tasted exactly how they described and is probably one of my favorite dishes on the menu. However, the Carbonara was not good. It tasted like the Trader Joe's frozen Pasta. Which is good when you go to Trader Joe's, but I expected better from a high quality restaurant. It didn't taste like a Carbonara either. Last time I was here I got their Truffle Pasta and it was one of the best I've had, which is why I was so excited for the Carbonara. Nonna has easily become one of my favorite Italian restaurants! Every bite of food was absolutely delicious--I genuinely enjoyed everything I tried. And the drinks? Amazing. I love a good espresso martini, but when I saw they had a chocolate martini too? Say less! Both were perfection. The ambiance was warm and inviting, though it was definitely busy, so I highly recommend making a reservation. The live music added a great touch to the experience! Why do you have a 10 page alcohol menu when you cannot even make a margarita. Oh btw, let's serve. the margarita in a tall water glass- who does that? The manhattan was tolerable, but margarita was atrocious. hire a real bartender that knows past aperol. Scared to try the old fashioned coz it would undoubtedly come with crushed ice, orange ass color and carbonation. 3. Food - well below average. The Burrata was dry, the prosciutto was so old that it was almost crunchy. The salmon tasted like it was fried in the mcdonal's oil after not changing it for a month. The fact that you serve it in a deep skillet (which makes it impossible to eat normally tableside), doesn't change the face that it was old ass fish fried to disgusting levels. who fries salmon??? Extremely disappointing experience; if you cannot get burrata right in a "fancy" italian restaurant, why would soemone even try pizza or pasta? So disappointing: go spend your money elsewhere, Sbarro's in the mall would have better italian food. read more

I have been going here for years. I was so disappointed with the meal I ordered on Saturday. The mushroom ravioli was mushy as well as the lasagna. My mother and I have gotten these to go and the ravioli was delicious last year. This time, not so much. A couple of months ago I ordered the Cacio E Pepe and it was just noodles with butter and parmesan with some pepper sprinkled on top. That's not the way to make it according to any Italian chef. Lets talk about the bread. Usually, I was given a bag of bread, but this time their were two pieces. I always loved the tapenade, but this time it tasted old. Finally, dessert- I ordered Gelato, The chocolate was pretty good, but the vanilla just tasted like ice water. My friend kept asking me what I thought happened. Clearly whoever made the Gelato forgot to put the vanilla in. Over all a terrible meal. I'm so sad, because I really loved this place. I won't be coming back. read more

Came back 3 months later and tried 2 new appetizers, 1 entree and 1 dessert in addition to our favorite go to orders. All the new items were fun to try, but I wouldn't come back and order them again. The new items we tried were: Arancini was not a hit at our table. Florida di zucca was beautiful and delicious, but too small. One friend ordered salmon and she enjoyed it, she would order this again. We tried the dessert special which was flan and I thought it was okay. This place is cute. I made a reservation last week for 10, but because of the mountain fire in Camarillo, the party dwindled down to 2. I requested to be seated in a quiet part of the restaurant, as I'd read that it can be a little loud. We were taken to a table in the heated patio. This was great, since the Santa Ana winds were is full force. I'd been eyeing the burrata for a few weeks. This is the creamiest burrata, I've ever eaten. We were here to celebrate a birthday, although very low key. It's a Sunday evening in April and we were seated on the outside patio close to the entry doors. It was a little cool for outdoor dining since there's a breeze but they have lots of heaters. We did have to request they turn them on. All of our meals were very good, pasta, pasta, pasta, pasta and once scallop. Both of our teens went for the special, a housemade pasta with a simple sauce which they both loved. I got the mushroom ravioli with cream sauce and walnuts which was good but not the very best I've ever had. RRR got a seafood pasta dish which he enjoyed. The clear winner were the scallops in a cream of pesto sauce. Giant and tender, the scallops were perfectly cooked. There was NO sharing! We tried several desserts, tenerina which is dark chocolate, just ok. Butterscotch budino which was delightful. They brought a vanilla panna Cotta for the birthday girl, very bland for our tastes. I have been to this restaurant before. I order Chapino Seaford soup. The first time I had this dish it was awesome. Last week I had it again. It was totally different, the Seafood was extremely small in size,broth was watery and price was same as first time $41.00. It was not worth the money. My husband ordered chicken parm. It came with Mashed potatoes. He asked for pasta instead. They wanted additional money for the pasta and said he would not receive the vegetables that was listed on the menu.
