Old school bbq and environment. Been coming here 35 years and nothing has changed except they don't cook on the boulevard anymore it's out back

Had friends in town who used to live in wlv and wanted to get lunch here. I warned them of my concerns about this place; I wasn't going to eat it, but I accompanied them anyways. The second we walked up it smelled so distinctly like burning plastic and overwhelmingly smokey that they ended up changing their mind and we walked over to busters. This place may have been good before but it's gross and unhygienic. I can't believe they're still smoking their meat in the alley behind the car lot, next to the rat dumpsters.

The food was great, the workers were really nice and helpful. You get a lot for how much you pay! The wait was only about 7 minutes for 3 plates! I was left stuffed. You also get a choice of two sides. Definitely recommend. 10/10

I've been coming here ever since I can remember, and although I don't live in Thousand Oaks anymore, I find myself craving the tri tip sandwich with my go to sides of chilli and macaroni salad from time to time, and it's crazy, but I'll find an excuse to drive to the area from DTLA for some Meat Locker. Of course I'm somewhat biased by nostalgia and childhood memories, but the tri tip sandwich is genuinely decent, and the macaroni salad and chili are still as amazing as before. I'll always adore Meat Locker's cowboy summer camp bbq theme, and I'll always forgive them for the shitty parking situation because this place is like a family member to me. I love you Meat Locker!

Food: Delicious Service: Super friendly and kind. They offered me free sample of everything in the display case to try before I bought. Ambiance: not an ideal date spot unless you go on a summer night. No outside heating lamps, inside it feels like no AC. would I come back? 100%. Best place to pickup food to go and eat at park or home.

I've been a regular at Meat Locker in Thousand Oaks for quite some time now, and for good reason! Their incredible selection of BBQ keeps me coming back for more. Every visit is a delightful experience, with mouth-watering flavors and perfectly cooked meats that never disappoint. Whether you're craving ribs, brisket, or pulled pork, this is the place to be. The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff is friendly, and the quality of the food is consistently top-notch. If you're in the mood for BBQ, look no further than Meat Locker. They truly are the best in town! Side note: I strongly recommend their 3 beef ribs combo, truly one of my favorites and to go for a lot

5 stars!!! I will be back!! I don't live in the area, but I definitely plan to stop here again when I'm back. The meat is the best cooked and quality I've ever had, comparing from many places coast to coast. The setting might seem a bit intimidating, but don't let that fool you. It's WAY worth it! From the beans, to the bread, to the macaroni salad, to the pork ribs, to the tri tip, every single thing was perfect. I highly recommend!!

Coming here for the first time, parking is very limited, and the outside is not most inviting. Give this place a chance and you won't be disappointed. I am a big fan of some SoCal BBQ, but I have always hated the texture of big slabs of chicken and trip-tip meat. I went on a limb and ordered the chicken sandwich. To my surprise, it was thin sliced and made right in front of me. The service was quick and smooth. It made for the best bbq chicken sandwich I have ever had. The beans, bread, and bbq sauce were also amazing and made for a perfect lunch stop. Personally, the potato salad wasn't as good as I had hoped, but everything else made up for it. I will be frequenting this place as often as possible, hoping to try even more items on the menu.

First, I had to make an u turn since I missed the building. I parked on the street. Inside looked dark and dingy. Pork Ribs were cooked perfectly but lacked spice. Beef Rib was charred and tough to eat. Baked beans were not really good but not bad either. Potato salad was ok. Service was ok. For the price, the portion is huge. Overall, average. Would I comeback? Possible maybe.

Ask the Community - Thousand Oaks Meat Locker BBQ

Is this stuff smoked? The menu refers to the meat as "grilled," which doesn't sound to me like real barbecue. Has it spent hours in a smoker?

Smoking meat, bbq’ing meat, and grilling meat are all different. That being said don’t eat here.

At the time the dining room was sparsely populated, only a few other tables were seated. We were seated quickly by the hostess and ordered within a few minutes of sitting down; my wife ordered the seafood pasta I ordered the butternut squash ravioli and the tomato burrata salad as an appetizer. After about 20 minutes the waitress returned to let us know that they were out of the pasta, so my wife asked for the risotto instead. The salad arrived quickly, however my wife noted that it was missing grilled peaches that were listed in the menu description, a disappointment. The salad itself was balsamic dressed cherry tomatoes with a single piece of burrata on top. Another 40 minutes later our entrees finally arrived. Much to my dismay my dish lacked any appreciable character; it was as if they had cooked six month old frozen pasta and thrown up a brown sauce with fried sage on top. My wife's risotto was mostly cheese but was also similarly devoid of other flavors. Now to be fair to the folks here, I did mention to the waitstaff that the flavors in the food were off and they did reduce the bill. They were also apologetic about the wait we faced. Nevertheless, restaurants have three things they need to do well in order to be successful: food, service and ambience. Perhaps if they improved the quality of the food and the time to service more people would come. Needless to say, but I won't be returning.

I'd been wanting to go back and take Dear Hubby to enjoy this very special re-imagining of the previous space, which had been an Irish pub incarnation. When our sister-in-law and two nieces were in town, the five of us were able to spend a quick evening together at Selvin's. We had been working on a project at our house, and by the time we got finished and ready to go out there wasn't a lot of time left as we went on a weeknight and they close at 9:00. I'm surprised that having a full bar, and being attached to a hotel property, that they would hang it up so early - even 9:30 or 10:00 would make more sense. It's such a charming place; seems a shame to have to call it a night so early. The ambiance is absolutely divine, especially out here in suburbia. It's very innovative in its layout. The lighting was carefully planned and is very effective in creating a special mood. And, what can be said about the wall of roses? It's tailor-made for snapping fun photos, that's for sure. The chef is sending out creative and Dee-Licious dishes from the kitchen. Yes, I know how to spell delicious, but it is worth adding the accented flair to stating the fact that this is a cut above many other dining establishments in the Conejo Valley. Dear Hubby and I shared Pappardelle Pasta and a Tuna Tartare appetizer. Both were excellent. One of our nieces ordered the taco platter. Wait till you see the photo. The only thing that was disappointing, menu-wise, was that bread wasn't included, so we ordered some as a side. Two little slices. I've forgotten the price, but I recall that it turned into sticker shock when we saw what was served. I'm tickled that they offer a nice array of zero proof cocktail options. They aren't inexpensive - apparently spirits without alcohol aren't any less (or maybe only slightly less?) than the full-spirited options. Still, it's nice to have the option. Our out of town family members LOVED Selvin's; it was a big hit with all of us. As an added bonus, there was a guitarist playing beautiful acoustic music when we arrived and were seated in the lounge area. Major extra credit!

However, we were surprised by the pricing for what is essentially a takeout operation: $28 for a steak sandwich, $24 for a chicken sandwich, $24 for a breakfast burrito, $17 for bread and butter, and $9 for a cookie--all with a required 18% gratuity. We hoped the quality of the food would justify the cost, but unfortunately, it did not. After waiting a long time for our order, we finally sat down to eat, only to be very disappointed. * The Fries: These were thick, over-seasoned, and over-fried potato wedges. * The Steak Sandwich: Consisting only of steak and onion, it was incredibly dry and unappealing. * The Burrito: Entirely bland and lacked flavor with eggs and over fried bacon bits and potatoes * The Coffee: Even the iced lattes at the coffee shack were bad - tasted very milky with very little espresso and warm. Our mocha latte was horrible as the chocolate powder was not mixed well, clumpy on the bottom of the cup The meal felt greasy and unhealthy, and despite being hungry, we couldn't even finish half of it. The food was absolutely disgusting. We threw everything in the trash bin. I wouldn't recommend this spot and certainly won't be returning. It felt very much like a one time money grab as no one in our family will be revisiting this place. Even Jack in the Box would be better.

We had a 7:45 reservation and waited about 15 minutes, which honestly wasn't a huge issue considering it was Mother's Day and we booked last minute. We sat in the bar area, which was semi-dark and a little loud, but still had a nice atmosphere overall. Our waitress, Britney, was very friendly and welcoming. We ordered drinks, bread came out quickly, and we placed our dinner order. When the food arrived, the plates were extremely hot as usual, so we waited a moment before touching them while our sides were still being served. As Britney was serving the asparagus, mashed potatoes, and mac and cheese, one of my daughters noticed a hair on her plate. Britney immediately stopped and asked what was wrong. My daughter explained, and Britney asked if she wanted a clean plate or an entirely new meal made. My daughter seemed uncomfortable and just asked for a clean plate. Britney took the plate back to show the kitchen and returned with the steak, but without the asparagus that had originally been on the plate. I didn't say anything at the time, but what disappointed me was that she later served the remaining asparagus pieces that had been left over from the original serving dish. We still tried to enjoy the rest of our evening, and overall the service was pleasant, but I was honestly surprised nothing was replaced or comped considering the situation. I wasn't looking for anything free, but I did expect a little more attention to detail and hospitality, especially at a restaurant with Mastro's reputation.

They flavours are still off the hook...The shishito peppers and whole squid seem to be missing) They also added a tasting menu which, for those unfamiliar with Charcoal Niku's style of modern Asian fusion cuisine, is a great introduction. At $88 for 9 courses ($118 for a one serving sake and wine pairing) the price is actually quite reasonable for the quality of the ingredients, prep, and presentation. All in all, I am very glad they are back, and if you haven't tried them, I could not recommend Charcoal Niku more. So much so I have friends from LA, 30-45 minutes away, who are constantly asking me, "When are we going back?" 'Nuf said.
