I really wanted to like Truly Pizza after hearing so many great things from people around town and seeing it all over social media. We decided to try it for the first time and ordered takeout in person around 7:30pm (5/13/26). We ordered the Truly White, Square Original Cheese, and Square Sweet & Spicy. While waiting near the counter, where you can see into the kitchen and prep area, we saw something really concerning. A staff member dropped a large piece of cheese on the floor, picked it up, rinsed it off, and then appeared to continue using it on someone's salad. We were honestly shocked. I would expect anything that touches the floor in a restaurant kitchen to be thrown away immediately, not rinsed and used. That alone made us extremely uncomfortable. As for the pizzas, they looked fine at first, but the taste was really disappointing. The Truly White was visually a little overwhelming, with a large puddle of creamy white cheese on top, more melted/piped cheese, and peppers in the middle. The square pizzas looked like they would have a light, airy crust, but the texture was actually very hard and crunchy being completely burnt on the bottom, making them not only tough to chew but taste like charcoal. Unfortunately, all three pizzas lacked flavor and were pretty underwhelming overall. So didn't get as many pictures as I wanted but we basically tried most of the menu. This included the garlic knots. Oh man if you love garlic. Get these. So good. Wedge salad was also a hit for the family. I loved how they added dates never had those on a salad before. Highly recommend getting a mix of both types of pizza. We got the Champion Tomato and Cheese which is the only one you can get with the sea salt crust. There's a reason why Thai won. Next up was the Dante. I liked it but wasn't my favorite. Money well spent! I LOVE Truly pizza so so much. It's definitely one of the best sit down pizza restaurants on the West coast. Make your reservations weeks in advance if you're coming on a weekend during spring/summer. Their wait times otherwise can be up to 2 hours on the weekends for any party size. Parking is a bit tough, give yourself some extra time for it. They have about 10 spaces in their lot which always fill up. You can street park in front of the restaurant or around the corner in the residential area. The vibe is great. It's an outdoor restaurant that's covered with either plants and fake lemons (they also have real lemons all over, just not above) or shades if you're on the mezzanine. Take the weather into consideration if it's cold, but they do have heaters prepared. Food is outstanding. Love their drinks - they have a great mix of spring/summer cocktails and zero proof options - their signature Truly spritz is lemon-y and delicious with the option of alcohol or not. Love their appetizers like the seasonal burrata, the focaccias, and the fries with ranch and ketchup are out of this world. Pizza is DIVINE. They've perfected the triple fermented sourdough crust, their pizza sauces, and their toppings combos. Highly recommend the Sweet and Spicy, La Foresta, and the Crispy Pepperoni. If you're up for it, ask for a side of hot honey and ranch. Will change your brain chemistry! Dessert is also fantastic. They have the most delicious soft serve and rotate their flavors quite often. It's been a while since we last came here. They're just outdoor seating and I don't really like the cold, so as much as we love this place, we didn't go during the cold months. They provide blankets though to keep you warm! As usual, we love the ambiance. Service was not as good as last time but still okay. As usual, we love their pizza! Pizza on focaccia crust! They have a specific pick up door, and picking up was super easy with one person waiting in the car at the curb to not have to deal with parking. There are many varieties of pizzas. Most of which, are good for different reasons. This is the biggest 5 star review I can possibly give! I've tried a lot of pizza's in Orange County and this one is tops for me. My wife and I tried two different pizzas the Champion Cheese, and the Smoky Vodka square pizza. Both were heavenly. A great pizza restaurant has to absolutely crush a basic cheese or margherita pizza and Truly definitely does with incredibly light crust and the perfect tomato sauce. The real standout for me though was the smoky vodka pizza. The crust on this pizza is mind blowing and the flavors pair so well together. I will also give the service a lot of credit. They did completely mess up the timing of our order and we did wait a long time for our pizzas. They went above and beyond afterwards and felt so bad for the error, they made it up to us with a free appetizer and comped one of our pizzas. We ordered the Wedge Salad and all we got was the really bad part of the lettuce core, it was all shoved in a round bowl and did not taste good. Lettuce was terrible. The Ciccio Pizza, which is paper thin, in an amazing starter, and if you really like pizza I would do that instead of getting one of the other appetizers. The Smoky Vodka Pizza was a little disappointing, since it's their most popular pizza for the last 2 years I think my expectations were even higher than of the Champion Cheese. I wish it had a little bit more vodka flavor and sauce because it's a thicker crust from the square pie, but it was still very good. The Potato Bianca pizza was good, but my least favorite for the 4 we tried. The seasonal burrata plate with artichokes and pistachios was so yummy! The crispy pepperoni pizza might be the best pizza I have ever had. The crust is insane! I celebrated my birthday today at Truly Pizza after seeing it in a video on social media a few days ago. Reservations were already booked 3-4 weeks out and I heard waits could be 1-2 hours with limited parking but we decided to give it a try anyway. We drove about an hour and to our surprise we found a parking spot right in front. We arrived around noon and were pleasantly surprised to be seated right away, with a nice spot on the second floor. Our server Taylor was wonderful, very sweet and attentive and she explained the menu really well. We ordered the Spagnola salad, Champion pizza, and Smoky Vodka pizza (we added prosciutto) and everything was delicious. The salad was sweet and refreshing, the Champion pizza had a great crust with classic margherita flavors and the Smoky Vodka pizza was excellent. They even brought out soft serve with olive oil and sea salt on the house for my birthday. It's 10/10. My wife had been trying to get me to go to Truly Pizza for a while. Apparently it's extremely difficult to get reservations, but I have to admit, the hype is truly (pizza) worthy. I always order chicken wings when I see them on a menu. These were definitely large and meaty, but they weren't as crispy as I prefer. The garlic pull-apart bread is supposed to be a must-order, but for me it wasn't anything I'd go out of my way for. I also ordered the traditional Italian sandwich. Their house-baked focaccia is stellar, but I'm not totally convinced it works for this style of sandwich. Actually, I ended up liking it more later that night when I had the leftovers as a late-night snack (after drinking). Now, pizza. I'm an NY pizza person through and through, but I have to admit the flavors here are quite something. The crust was super crispy on the outside but chewy on the inside. The crisp reminded me of a fried eggroll wrapper, especially because of the bubbles in the crust. We ordered the Crispy Pepperoni, La Foresta, and Smoky Vodka. The Smoky Vodka was easily my favorite. The flavor completely took me by surprise. One thing that also surprised me was the slice shape. I expected square cuts, which would've been tough to share, but they still slice them into triangles. The other two pizzas were solid, pretty standard pepperoni and mushroom-ish flavors, but next time I'd probably explore more of their other options. We also all went in on desserts (I'm a fatty at heart). You wouldn't think soft serve with olive oil would work, but it absolutely does, and the sea salt is the perfect finishing touch. I'm also a sucker for orange cream soda, so I had to order the orange soda float. They had a few other float flavors that I would have loved to try too. LIGHTBULB: float flights! I think is was actually the best pizza I've ever had. If you like your pizza dough to be thick and soft then definitely get their square pizzas. I also tried a circle pepperoni which was a thinner crust and also very good. The decorations and feel to the place are very nice, making it a great place to enjoy some vibes. Also our waitress was very friendly and seemed to anticipate our needs. I went there having reservations which I've heard is the way to go since on weekends there can be a pretty long line. Also warning I think their reservations are made a month in advance, so keep that in mind. This place has been on my list to visit for awhile now and finally made reservations. It took a whole month to get reservations but was definitely worth the wait. From checking in, to eating, to paying our bill, we had a great experience. The hostess was very nice and friendly, she shared with us her favorite dish and our server was amazing. We couldn't decide so we pretty much ordered what they recommended and even ordered one to go. Must try the Mortadella & Burrata and garlic knots. Suprema- Amazing! The Dante - delicious! Fantastic pizza and quite reasonably priced for the artisinal experience. I finally had a chance to try their pizza, although I have yet to dine in. We had the smoky vodka, which was like a Roman style with thick, but airy crust. The roasted tomatoes, lemon pesto and basil were herbaceous and sweet. The original cheese was delicious, although a tad too much crust, but the cheese and tomato sauce and parmesean combo is unbeaten. I would have like a little more fresh basil to come through, but the pizza was mainly for my toddlers so it was a non-issue. Going back to the crust, you can tell it was cooked at an extremely high heat because there was so much bubbling on the crust that made for an extra crunchy exterior. read more

Staff were really great and quick with requests. We were seated on the first floor and even though the day was 80 degrees, there was perfect gusts of wind so it never felt hot. The food was tasty overall. Umami mushroom was on the thin crust and it really was strong in flavor. Or server described it as ramen flavors and that was pretty spot on. Mamma Mia was on the square crust which is thicker in crust but airy. However, both were too crispy/hard for my husband and I, just toeing right under the line of breads-that-can-rip-your mouth. Personally, I wouldn't come back. Ospi in Costa Mesa has better pizza and more variety on their menu. Restroom is upstairs; there are 2 fully close-door restrooms that can be used for any gender. Parking was about a 2 minute walk away. There are parking garages and they're free. read more

There's been a lot of hype about Truly Pizza, and I have to agree it meets expectations! Their menu is unique, offering a wide selection of appetizers, salads, and round versus square pizzas. Our waitress was very informative about each menu item, and I was impressed with the restaurant's cleanliness and efficiency. We ordered the Champion Tomato & Cheese as well as the Sweet & Spicy. I liked the Champion a bit more since it reminded me of a margherita pizza. One pizza is honestly big enough for 2 people, but it's worth trying at least two and bringing any leftovers home! Parking can be slightly difficult, but you can park your car in the adjacent lot or find nearby street parking. read more
