Instead, she found herself waiting on the cancellation list, hoping someone wouldn't show up. I remember thinking, "That's a long drive for pizza." Two hours later, walking back to the car completely stuffed, I understood. We had reservations for six, booked a few weeks in advance, and it all made sense by the end of the meal. The Sweet & Spicy was the standout for me, balancing sweetness, heat, and creamy cheese without letting any one flavor overpower the others. The Truly White was a pleasant surprise. Creamy ricotta and pepperoncinis don't seem like obvious partners, but the tang from the peppers kept the richness in check and made each bite better than the last. The Smoky Vodka packed bold flavor, and even the classic cheese reminded me how difficult it is to perfect something so simple. Every pizza shared the same foundation: an airy, beautifully blistered crust with just the right amount of chew. It carried the toppings effortlessly while still being flavorful enough to enjoy on its own. This is comfort food maximized. The Dana Point Wedge was outstanding and easily worth sharing. We also ordered the spicy wings, which brought plenty of flavor and just the right amount of heat. Almost as an afterthought, we ordered a few sides of their house made ranch for the wings. Before long, we were dipping pizza into it too. I don't usually mention ranch in a review, but this one deserves it. It's comfortably in my top three I've ever had. Don't skip dessert. We ordered both soft serve flavors available that day, Olive Oil and Cherry. They couldn't have been more different, yet both were exceptional. The Olive Oil was silky, subtle, and unexpectedly elegant, while the Cherry was bright, refreshing, and the perfect finish after such a rich meal. The Ace Pear Cider was crisp, refreshing, and paired beautifully with everything we ordered. The service was warm, attentive, and genuine without ever feeling rehearsed. The patio was comfortable without sitting in direct sunlight, and even the restroom was clean. There was a line for that too, which honestly made me laugh because it felt just as hard to get into as the restaurant itself. Parking is limited, but we found street parking about a block away. After eating this much pizza, the slow walk back to the car felt earned.

As someone who know his way around wine bars, I think they have a nice,though somewhat limited, selection of wines, but their pricing is totally fair, and Tony, who is a practicing Sommelier, is quite knowledgeable as well as a welcoming and jovial "host". Having read a few of the negative reviews, I note that it is the Food Service they offer which gets almost all the criticism. I like just about everything I've ordered there (they have a good selection of appetizers, 'shared plates', salads, burgers, sandwiches) but depending upon who is in the kitchen, I have witnessed overly-lengthy waits for simple orders, both from my orders and from other customers. That said, it is positively one of THE best burgers around, especially at $15 INCLUDING a side. They also have a very competent sushi chef in-house who makes great stuff. Please note this location is closed Mon & Tue; the Irvine location is 7 days. And it does close promptly at 8pm. All in all, I think it's a hidden "gem", and Tony runs a first-class operation.
