We became wine club members here we liked it so much. It's in a beautiful location with indoor and outdoor seating overlooking lake Mission Viejo. The service is always so great and I love the self pour machines that give you a chance to try a dozen different wines. They also have some great cheeses to try and a small, but tasty menu. This is the greatest little hidden gem of a spot! It's got a stunning view, the patio is breezy on hot days and has heat lamps for cold ones. There's air conditioned seating inside and there's also some tables below down closer to the lake. There's even clean blankets available to use for cozy winter nights! I've been with a group of friends, once with my husband, and several times just to chat with a friend. I haven't had any food I didn't like. It's so great for snacking and sharing. The best part is the extensive wine selection! The prices are phenomenal! Customers can purchase a bottle to drink there (or to take) but can also get a wine card for self-serve by the glass wines in taste, half, or full pours. DO NOT call ahead for a reservation!! It's such a scam. This is a place that you wish you could go with a group of friends to just come and go as works for the group. Sure do that but NEVER tell them you are coming or that you are together or you will receive awful service and be charged automatic gratuity and not allowed to pay separately! You have been warned! Unfortunately on two separate occasions we have called in advance for a reservation and upon arrival we were treated like second class citizens and completely pushed downstairs and ignored. Then they have the guts to REQUIRE us all to put our wine cards on the same bill and actually not allow us to see the bill or pay when a portion of our party needed to leave! It's so stupid that they can't see the big picture and unfortunately I can see this being the reason they aren't a good place to gather with more than 4 or so people. I do not recommend for groups!!!!! Even worse was that we would have never even needed a reservation either time! It was completely wide open!!!! When we brought our concerns to the management tonight we were immediately met with defensiveness and it just makes me sad that they don't care to treat their guests like valued customers. I actually found this place on Yelp a while back, but never seemed to get the opportunity to try the place out, till recently when we had overseas guests in town, and they love their wine. As for me, I'm not much of wine drinker, but I love a good cheese platter with crackers, home-made olives, and flat bread made fresh and hot.....just as well as I was the designated driver :) This place is not big, but offers some tables inside and outside on the covered patio overlooking Lake Mission Viejo......awesome view, especially at sunset and sun down. We managed to get a great spot on the patio with great water and waterfront home views. Basically, you either buy a full bottle of wine or buy a pre-paid card (that you can top up anytime you run low), stick your card in the machine and go through the wine dispensing machine for sample, half, or full glass portions of their various featured red or white wines. If you like any of the 20 some featured wines, then you can go ahead and buy a bottle....if I remember correctly, there is some kind of $10 bottle charge, unless you subscribe to the quarterly wine commitment, then this charge is waived with an additional 10% off, or something like that. Anyway, my wife and our guests went ahead and had a blast tasting all their feature wines.....and judging by the way they had to keep going inside to the counter to top-up their card several times during this sitting, they were enjoying every single glass! As for bites to go along with the wine, there is a deli style counter inside where you can place your order for some finger foods.....we went ahead and ordered a 4 cheese platter which came with crackers, some mixed nuts, added a side of home-made olives, and the Fig & Olive and Chicken Pesto Flatbreads.....made fresh, and came out hot and delicious! To enjoy the wine and small bites, we had an awesome view of the lake...on a rainy day, enjoyed the sunset, and then shimmering lights on the water coming from the homes surrounding the lake.....wooooow, what an experience this was. Great place to some to to relax, unwind, and just enjoy a good glass or two of wine in a lovely, peaceful, and serene setting...by yourself or with your friends. As detailed on their website, the idea involves preloading funds onto a card you are issued (and keep) and then insert into the desired wine dispenser and select the amount you would like served. What you don't use on your card remains there until your next visit. The wine can be selected by you which is dispensed in different amounts from a tasting pour or a half or full pour. The wine you select and amount you pour is the amount you are charged. The dispensers contain bottles of wine lined in order of value, type and label. Patrons can order food separately which can be easily achieved at a separate counter which provides for a variety of options from flatbreads to cheese and meat plates.
