This is my first time at moon goat Coffee Roasters in Irvine in a commercial complex by UCI. There is lots of parking out front. It is a Large coffee shop with a warm and cozy interior. I loved the large painting on the wall depicting the rugged old west with a cow boy having a cup of coffee by the fire in the mountains. They have Different types of seating arrangements. The interior is modern with a comfortable lighting scene and wrap around floor to ceiling windows. They also have a large patio with more seating. I also noticed a fire place and a Television outside. Aside from their great coffee and Tea menu, they offer daily pastries, refreshments, small bites and coffee bean bags to go. I had the Horchata Latté with oat milk (available hot or cold). It was really good. It is made with 2 shots of their signature espresso with a house-made horchata syrup or base, steamed or iced milk, and a dusting of cinnamon. You could taste the quality of the coffee. It was really good. The coffee was a little strong. The service was great and prices are average. I really enjoyed hanging out in their shop with friends. They have several locations. MoonGoat has been on my list to try for 2 years now, and I was really looking forward to it the other day. I had a shot of their milkblend espresso over ice and my friend tried the vanilla latte. We were severely disappointed. The espresso was very sour, acidic, and slightly bitter. The vanilla latte tasted like sweet milk. I do not recommend the drinks at all, unless that is your type of flavor profile. The ambiance is very nice, it cultivates a work study vibe, and it seems it's a stop for morning walkers/friends catching up. You can order at a kiosk at the entrance or with the cashier. It is straightforward service, but it took about 20 minutes for our 2 drinks on a Friday morning. There is plenty of parking as its in a shared plaza. read more

Moon goat is a great study and hang out spot. I got the churro latte and it was your average latte, which is trustable and safe. This place was packed with a bunch of people studying or hanging out and it just shows how nice and well liked this place is. The service was also good, a very chill staff. I think that for this area being close to UCI, it gets a lot of points for being a solid study spot with charging ports, a clean environment, and good tables. As far as their menu goes they have very interesting drink options which makes you want to come and try a lot of them! I definitely think this place is worth visiting. read more

This is next to my work. Came to finally try it and was disappointed. Prices are ridiculous. Selection is not that great. Did not try coffee but I think it gets business due to it is the only place around the work area. Tried a sandwich that was ok, but would not get the Fresno chili on it again. Just not for me, but maybe for others and coffee lovers. read more

There is a good amount of parking, although it can get busy during business hours. There is great seating options both indoor and outdoor. The drinks are incredible. The matcha is so smooth and creamy and the flavors are great and not overpowering. The inside of the cafe has tinted windows which makes it feel cozy and great for getting some work done. read more

We stopped at this coffee spot while touring UC Irvine and ordered churro lattes, a blueberry lavender latte, and a muffin. The coffees were good and came out quickly. They had run out of pastries, so we got the banana muffin instead, but it was a bit dry and dense, so not the best. The warmer was also broken, so they couldn't heat it up for us, which was a bit disappointing. There was a decent amount of seating inside and outside. I liked the natural light coming in. How did I end up at this coffee shop?! Well, I saw one of their vans on the freeway and the name peeked my curiosity. No less than 15 minutes later I was drinking an iced churro latte. My husband was craving the coffee beans from this place, so we decided to check out this location. Compared to their Costa Mesa spot, both locations have that same welcoming vibe. The drinks are always really good, and their coffee beans are definitely worth buying. This location is a bit smaller than the Costa Mesa one, but it still has a really cozy feel. It seems like the perfect spot for college students or people working nearby--it gives off a nice little business café vibe. I really enjoy their drinks because they don't taste overly flavored or too sweet. Everything just hits the right balance. Definitely a place worth trying if you're in the area. read more

Stopped by on a Wednesday to get some studying in. It definitely gets packed so get here early if you can. Cute seating areas indoors and outdoors. I had the deluxe avocado toast made by Abel. 12/21/25 Decided to try this coffee shop located within the UC Irvine compound. Gotta admit, it has great aesthetics & atmosphere, staff are attentive & amiable. Well, the lattes are not exactly our faves. On the first round, I ordered a pumpkin spice latte for myself & an oat milk latte for Hubby. Within minutes the hit beverages were ready. I love these were served in tasteful black mug & plate. Oh wow, my PSL at first sip tasted sour, the kind one tastes when the medium roast is used. Definitely off putting. I wanted to just grin & bear it but I just know Hubby will definitely NOT. So I asked if the base was a medium roast & it was. The kind staff offered to redo & they did for both, single origin. Mine was better but Hubby still made a face as he tasted his & it was a definite No for him. Taking into account for the beautiful atmosphere (clean, well maintained washroom facilities) & the efforts made by staff to remake the drinks, I give them 4 stars. This place is well suited for the students & some visiting families as seen by the clientele that patronized it today. Came here on a Wednesday before lunch and it was decently busy, with a steady stream of people during my visit. They've got a self-ordering kiosk, or you can chat with someone at the register, which is what I did since I wanted some opinions on teas and coffee beans. They've got a pretty good selection of swag including loose leaf teas, various coffee beans, brewing gear, clothing, and other items. And they've got an RTE case too. Plenty of space inside and outside to sit, and the outside seating area has umbrellas, shade, and even a giant Jenga-style game. I asked for some recommendations for tea and was pretty let down. They only had 3 available, and 2 were ones I could find pretty much anywhere else (Earl Grey and...English Breakfast, I think?). I asked for any unique ones and they had a lavender one, which I ended up trying. It was okay, nothing special. Very floral. I also asked for recommendations for beans that are not too acidic and had the Darkside suggested because it's their darkest roast. I'm excited to grind it up and try it! read more

Service was stellar, such great cozy vibes with ample space to get work done, etc. Let's move on to the good stuff, our salmon bagel was scrumptious, toasted so well and enough cream cheese that didn't feel overwhelming. My churro latte was insanely good. Coffee was strong and just a vibrant churro taste that made you think you were drinking a real churro. I enjoy this MoonGoat location at UCI research park and I consider it a hidden gem! There's plenty of outdoor seating in the area and the coffee quality is well-renowned. Honestly, it's a spot that people should gate keep because I'm sure the local tech businesses here wouldn't want this spot overrun by students! Some of my favorite local spots tout that they carry MoonGoat coffee because of their bean sourcing and because MoonGoat is known for roasting their beans. Friends who are self-proclaimed "coffee snobs", love the single origin options here. I'm still developing my palate for bitters; therefore, I enjoy their iced churro latte with oat milk and their sea salt cold foam. The churro latte is sweet with some nice cinnamon flavor that doesn't overwhelm and the sea salt cold foam offers creaminess and nice balance to the sweetness. Overall, I enjoy coming here when I visit people at UCI because of the great drink options, because of the ample seating, because there's plenty of free parking, and because it's a great place to hang out! read more

I tried the churro latte per the worker's recommendation since it's their signature latte. I appreciated that she asked me if I wanted it less sweetened because I don't like my coffee too sweet and that they can adjust it later if there weren't enough pumps. The churro latte uses house-made dulce de leche and vanilla syrup but I couldn't taste either that much. It just seemed sweet enough to counteract the bitterness of espresso so the "churro" flavor didn't really come through. In fact, it was more like a Spanish latte with all the cinnamon powder mixed in. There were quite a few people there already at 10 a.m. on a Saturday but still enough space to find a few seats. My favorite coffee latte is their house-made cherry reduction syrup: cascara. An iced cascara latte for the superior vote. Churro latte was too sweet but cascara is best. Alway ask for HALF sweet here!! Cold brew is a hidden nugget that I value when needing all hands on deck for work. Choose an iced cold brew over their iced Americano YES! If you need something sweeter add a cold foam like strawberry OR salted caramel!! Black coffee drinker do not worry, get their hot house drip called Sweater Weather!! This coffee shop is so close to UCI that you'll be on UCI Wifi There's a good amount of seating, plenty of tables and all the wall seats have outlets. The middle tables and the gray, comfy looking living room couch? No charging outlets there. I had their single origin drip and the "Brew on a Budget" cold brew for $5 each and both were strong and smooth. One of the food items I ordered was the breakfast bagel sandwich but swapped the bagel for focaccia and the bacon for ham. Very glad they could accommodate the subs, it's a great sign they're not just reheating entire premade sandwiches from Sysco (iykyk. Tasty for a coffee shop sandwich. Food and drink selection is solid, the vibe's good for getting work done, and the half-booth seating is comfortable (minus the overhead lighting, which could chill out a bit, it's bright enough to perform surgery). Bonus: it's dog friendly with patio seating, so you can sip your coffee while your dog judges passing students. Overall, it's one of the better spots near UCI to caffeinate and get some work done. The parking is reserved for Irvine Company (many signs around the reserved lot) but the establishment has several 1-Hour-Parking for MoonGoat guests. The establishment is clean organized and you are greeted. I love that. They also have inside and outdoor seating. It's really cute place. This is a great spot to grab a quick coffee that's off campus which makes it easy to get to and you don't have to worry about parking! I've been here several times before and the workers have always been super friendly and professional, especially when asked for recommendations and concerns regarding substitutions. Every time I've gone, it's always been a good experience and the wait has never been too long, even during peak busy hours. The ham and cheese croissant I feel like is a bit too toasted and missing some flavors to it and maybe more melt from the cheese too, which is hard because the outside can get a little too crispy and flaky. It's still pretty good but I'm not sure if I would get it again. The canned cold brew (cold bru) is a quick pickup to make a grab and go situation easy. Tastes good and is consistent. The banana matcha latte is amazing! It's a seasonal drink and it's super yummy and worth it. The barista who took my order advised me that you can get the banana foam added to any drink, which I may have to do with a latte the next time I swing by. The inside has a nice ambiance to it, perfect for studying or just grabbing a coffee with a friend or coworker. They do have tables and couches inside but they fill up pretty quickly since a lot of students will come by to study and get work done. There's also outdoor seating in two areas which makes it convenient to get a drink and enjoy some fresh air. Also worth nothing that there's plenty of parking in the lot and it's free since it's off campus, making it easy to get in and out of. It's also low car friendly for all you car enthusiasts out there. Overall, I definitely would recommend checking them out to grab a drink, though I'm not fully convinced on the croissant. First time here... my boyfriend found this gem and brought me here after a workout close by. So nice! They have great drinks and alternative milk options for vegans (yummy and thank you! ). They have several vegan and gluten free options as well. The inside is small but very nicely decorated with modern and comfortable seating. The outside seating is also very nice, shaded and has a big screen tv, which was horned of when we were there. The cashier was really friendly and helped us sign up for the rewards program. Never coming here again. I ordered the Matcha Blueberry but it was undrinkably sweet. All I could do taste was synthetic sugar flavor with no balance. It was disgusting. I took two sips, put it aside while I finished my bagel, then brought it back to request a swap. The two female baristas ignored me as I approached, kept their eyes down, and continued their own conversation. When I finally got their attention, I explained the situation. The blonde with curly hair acknowledged that yes, the drink was very sweet - then told me they would fix it "next time" I came in. I was shocked because I was standing in front of her with a full cup I couldn't drink! The brunette with straight hair said nothing and offered no help throughout the entire exchange. When I made it clear I wanted it done now, not on some future visit, she told me they couldn't swap it because I'd "had it too long." Now I am shocked again! The cup was basically full as I only had the two sips. Only after I stood my ground did she reluctantly offer to ask a manager. The redhead manager was a complete 180. She handled it immediately, made a new matcha drink without sugar (way better but not a good matcha drink in general) and was genuinely pleasant, resolving it without hesitation or attitude. In an era where customer experience is everything, treating a paying customer in such a poor way is fast way to lose business. The staff must be trained better, or put them somewhere they are not customer-facing. I won't be back. read more

Every once in a while you come across a place that ticks off all the boxes. This is a very cool place. We arrived on a weekday afternoon. The place was full of students hanging out and enjoying a special environment. Located in the upper section of UCI, don't be afraid to use Siri or Alexa or whatever is your choice of AI help. You will never find this place from the road, it is right in the heart of the research and tech part of UCI. Once you found it, there are many spaces for parking. The interior is stylish, open, and modern. There are many places to sit down and work with your laptop. The menu is easy to find and easily understood. I ordered a cold latte with Vanilla syrup. It was excellent. As I always do, I asked about their roasted coffee. The barista knew everything about the coffee. I took home a pound and had it the next day. Jackpot, it was excellent. Hello to my new favorite coffee shop! Fantastic espresso drinks with options to customize, and great service. I mentioned I don't usually get super sweet drinks and the staff offered a "light sweet" version of the churro latte I was ordering. Perfection! Their food menu is varied and I was especially thrilled to find gluten free options on their pastry case. This location is tucked into UCI's research park, and while the building's exterior looks corporate, the interior is modern and cozy.
