I don't get it. Is this the same Donut Star chain as the one off of Alton in Irvine? If it is, it does not have the same quality or offerings. The donuts here do not taste fresh. They taste like they've been there overnight or sitting out all day. Compared to the donuts from the Alton location, this place is sad. There are far fewer choices at this location. They don't offer cronut holes like the other location. I don't even think they make any donuts fresh on site. I don't know why anyone would come unless you live around here as there are no other donut shops around. I'm not a fan of this place and recommend going to the Alton location instead.

i went here with a friend and i can say the donuts were sweet and delicious. it was a little dry but it doesn't bother me much. the worker was very nice and friendly. donuts were amazing and there was lots of variety there; old fashioned, frosted, apple fritter, sprinkles, twists, crossiants and more

a variety of donuts in a box

Came in around 8 and they had plenty of options! Got a dozen donuts and it was around $13. The donuts were fresh and really good! Would definitely come again!

If you want any semblance of choice in your donut, you'd have to arrive by 830a. I came at 915 once and had choice of white sprinkle cake donut or white sprinkle cake donut. So I got the white sprinkle cake donut and it was delicious, the better slightly lemony (a lovely surprise!). On another day I managed to swing by at 845 and they still had several options! So I grabbed a glazed donut, and it was large and delicious. A solid donut shop that rewards the early birds.

Cronuts! Donut holes.

My new donut place!! Love the selections and always taste fresh! Cronuts are awesome here (though a bit of a splurge). Fast, friendly service every time I go! They offer online ordering, too, which is super convenient (but watch the cut-off time for placing them). I ordered a dozen donut variety online and it was packaged and ready for pick up by the requested time. The donuts they picked were great, too - a variety and not just the same things. Check this place out!

Not many blueberries in my blueberry muffin

We got muffins, not donuts. $1.75 each for a decent sized muffin, but they were just okay. A little on the dense, chewy side. I was in there around 7:30 am on a weekday, and I have to say I was a little surprised at the lack of selection in donuts (and muffins). The shelves looked half empty. My other complaint is that the employee was not friendly at all. No hello, no smile. Friendliness goes a long way and probably would have made my experience better.

If you live in North Irvine, Donut Star is the place to go. It's the kind of local place where you can grab some sweet treats and run into friends. PRICE: $8.50/dozen. More for the fancier donuts. Credit cards allowed for orders of $5 or more. VARIETY: You're not going to find bacon donuts or anything really out there or avant garde at Donut Star but you will find all the classics - sprinkles, twists, maple bars, jelly filled, etc. YEAST DONUTS: The yeast donuts are nice and fluffy just as they should be. Solid choice but not spectacular. CAKE DONUTS: Donut Star's cake donuts stand out. I've never had a problem with them being dry. My favorite is the blueberry donut, which basically tastes like a fried blueberry muffin. Sure, it's probably from some kind of industrial mix but they sure are tasty. SERVICE: Always quick and friendly.

I bought 2 Bearclaws. Instead of almond paste filling, they had gloppy sweet canned applepie filling gross!

A guilty pleasure!…read more Duck Donuts never dissapoints! Made-to-order donuts are such a luxury, I love stopping by and seeing them make it fresh! The service is fast too, you can be in and out super quick. Parking over here sucks though, avoid the lunch rush. Lots of restaurants and plenty of seating outside to enjoy your sweet treat!

When I searched on Google for ice cream near me- chocolate shoppe ice cream popped up then upon looking further I realized it was sold within duck donuts. Still ventured to try it Two guys working, one said he was new, and didn't know where all the flavors were / allowed us to try some b4 we ordered but was a pain bc the flavors were spread between two freezers in front of store and whatever was in the back. Placed an order for 3 double scoop cups (all they had) and took a really long time to make them having to figure out where the flavors were between the front and back of store. Then. They didn't have lids to cover them or a bag to put them in - so we literally covered each cup with another cup and put in a box I had from Costco in my trunk to get them home without dripping everywhere in my car. And I say dripping everywhere bc by the time he finished the last cup/. The others were melted from taking so long. They should probably just stick to donuts if they can't fully support the ice cream products. If I knew now/ I wouldn't have chosen to try there for ice cream. Very unfortunate, bc we probably would have loved the ice cream - but the experience clearly trumped the product.

I probably just grabbed it on a bad day and plan to come back and try again along with their breakfast sandwiches. Nice service. Outdoor seating. Please come and create your own adventure.

One of my friends discovered an app that allows you to purchase food that is going to be tossed,…read moreand we found Mag's on this app. For $10 dollars we got a mystery box of donuts, and we decided to try them all mukbang style. First and foremost, the worker was very helpful (showing us how to work the app, etc), and they had the box ready to go as soon as we got there. I was not expecting the service to be that quick, so that was lovely. Now onto the donuts: I want to say that all of these donuts were tried late at night, and so I took into account that they were probably better in the morning (fresher!) Despite this, the dough on the majority of them was still very fluffy, and none of them were noticeably "stale". My friends and I each had a bite of every donut, and in the interest of saving time, I'm just going to highlight our favorites. Myself: The Cronut was unexpectedly my number one. It was the perfect mix of not too sweet/not too savory and was just fantastic. The texture and layering were perfect, and I loved the glaze. Just delicious. I also enjoyed the apple fritter (Classic) and the basic powdered sugar twist. My friend Marco lauded the quasi-cinnamon roll, which we all agreed was quite good, as well as the apple fritter (Good choice, Marco!). My other friend, Kat, was a big fan of the cinnamon sugar twist, as well as the glazed bar. We all agreed that the selection in the mystery box was varied and well-rounded, fitting for people with differing tastes. I also want to shout out the raspberry-filled croissant; low expectations for that one, but good. We will most likely come here again. Thanks, Mags!

I usually love coming to sidecar because of their delicious donuts but I was very disappointed…read morewith the service I received today. It was 10 min before closing & idk if the girls were just rushing to close down but one girl in particular had an attitude. There was a miscommunication / misunderstanding with the girl who took my coffee order (I had assumed the seasonal banana latte came with the foam as pictured & because she didn't ask if I wanted the foam, I didn't ask for it more-so bc she asked if I wanted the brittle on top). When they handed me my drink it was a plain banana latte with no foam or brittle. I was ignored when I tried calling for the barista until another girl followed up - however this girl had an attitude. She told me that I must not have ordered it since they ask at the register if I want foam with brittle. Explained they didn't ask. Instead she just said "sorry I'll let them know for next time". And walked away leaving me with my drink as is. Didn't offer any sort of resolution. I walked in and asked they could charge me extra for the foam. The same girl with the attitude remade my drink and handed it to me. No thank you, no sorry, nothing. First time experiencing this kind of service. Not sure if the girl is new but saw someone else share a similar experience couple days ago. Wish I would have asked for her name!

I could go on and on about them... seriously. This time we had to come try their collab with Cake Picnic, which was the golden hour grey donut. Let me tell you, it was bomb.com. The orange flavor was phenomenal and I have no notes. We also got the strawberry donut and hot chocolate with almond milk, both obviously very good as well. It was my first time getting the hot chocolate and I was honestly surprised with how yummy it was. It was not too chocolatey and not too milky. It was the perfect balance and the perfect pairing with the donuts.
