Steakhouse Review #1: Town Hearth Alright, so we went on a Friday night and had a res for 8:15. Valet was easy. The hosting staff was amazing and gave us recommendations and were super friendly. We waited about 15 minutes to be sat because she said she wanted us in the main dining room after we told her our monthly steakhouse review plans. Sweet girl. We talked with them almost the whole wait. The decor was cool, including a giant fish tank and car in the dining room. The atmosphere was loud and vibrant with a cool guy swagger. Our server was exceptional and made some suggestions as well. We ordered the filet mignon, cheeseburger and fries, (one of the recommendations by hostess), mac and cheese, fried brussel sprouts, and passion fruit kickers. Okay, so they cook their steaks over some cedar wood and I just wasn't the biggest fan as it tasted smokey and almost bbq'd and I guess I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to steak. It was cooked perfectly but I had a hard time getting past the woodsy flavor. The voodoo sauce they served with it was SLAPPIN. Request it if you go. They told us the cheeseburger and fries were better than Hudson House. Nope, as it was really, really salty and you could feel the salt crystals in your mouth. The mac and cheese was okay but mine is better and the brussel sprouts were the star of the show with a tangy honey mustard flavor that we both looooved. We didn't do dessert, which is a travesty, but nothing really spoke to us. No tears overall (yes, I sometimes cry when i eat really good food). The meal was $150 and we left $60 for tip and $5 for valet for a total of $215. Arrived about 8 min before 7 and was told the table was being setup and would be ready in 5 min. 40 min later we were seated even though many people came in after us and were seated before us. The food was delicious although the steaks seemed over priced for what they were and that's coming from someone who goes to upscale steak restaurants with my family as a hobby. This is a cool place! I was visiting from out of town on business and wanted something Texan for a night out with clients. This place had a really cool vibe highlighting a car in the dining room and large beautiful aquarium. The food was stellar!! Everything was served perfectly as ordered, the waiter was extremely accommodating and gave great suggestion. The steak was Ahhhmaazing and the sauces you can get on the side were very tasty, although you didn't need them. The corn had a sweet but fresh taste... how often do you rave about corn, lol. For the main course, Maddie recommended the **barbecue spice-rubbed Chilean sea bass**. It was beautifully cooked--flaky and rich inside with a crisp, smoky exterior. The spice rub added warmth and just enough heat to keep things interesting. I paired it with a side of **sautéed mushrooms**, which brought an earthy depth that rounded out the plate perfectly. First time and won't be the last. Enjoyed an evening out with ex-college buddies (no cocktails as the champagne and wine were flowing!). They had a fantastic cocktail menu featuring several offerings from the Buffalo Trace distillery. Service was excellent and so perfectly attentive. On to the food....I think we tried everything on the menu and everyone had rave reviews on all of it. For appetizers, we tried the bacon (thick, cooked with a crisp, and delicious with bourbon maple syrup covering the slab - we doubled up on the bacon), prime meatballs (best meatballs I have ever had - loved the slight garlic flavor), and rock shrimp dynamite (excellent!). I recommend them all. No salads for this crew. On to the steak. Steak is expensive, but so good. Many had the 24 oz bone-in ribeye (like eating half a cow!), but I opted for the 12 oz Wagyu Ribeye which was exceptional, and I highly recommend it. Everyone raved about their steaks and all were perfectly cooked to order. At first we said no to dessert, having eaten so much food already, but the spirit of the evening overcame our better judgement. Lots of coffee drinkers who loved the Mud Pie and the Chocolate cake. We also ordered the red velvet cake, which my friend did not care for, but I thought was fine. Creme Brule was recommended, but we skipped as it was not unique enough for us that night. When we arrived, our table wasn't ready, but we easily were able to grab a few chairs at the bar and ordered some cocktails while we waited. The place was packed, and it had an energetic atmosphere. The decor was cool, and seemed like a great date night/girls night spot. Once our table was ready, they came and found us and we were sat in a booth. Our waiter was patient and very knowledgeable of the menu. He offered great suggestions for our meal and took into account one of my colleagues dietary restrictions. I ordered tuna steak, which was delicious. My waiter suggested I order it a different style, which was a game changer. Couldn't have beat for a better dining experience! We came as a large crowd for a birthday. The restaurant is BEAUTIFUL with many aesthetic details to keep you distracted from slightly above average food. Yes, it was good, but did not live up to the hype. The service was a bit chaotic, but that was partly our fault because the party did not all arrive at the same time. The private room was vibey with an Elvis theme. We also brought our own cake so didn't get a chance to get their dessert. The carpaccio was DELICIOUS... perfect balance of flavors and the meat did not get lost under the garnish. In hindsight sight, we should've just gotten 5 of those instead of the stake we got. I love a good bone-in aged steak so we got the Bizzteca to share which looked promising. Unfortunately, I think the piece was over-aged. Closer to the bone it tasted way more ripe than any aged steak we've tried in the past. We were disappointed with it. The elote-style corn and mushroom sides were very tasty. Others in our party ordered other cuts of meat that they seemed content with so I can't judge other cuts. The service I had was very poor. Very disappointed that a nice restaurant would hire such rude waiters. Keep in mind, the bill is not your typical $100 bill at any other restaurant. Our bill for a party of 4 was $750, that's without tip. I would expect the service to be a bit more welcoming however have been treated way better at many other restaurants. I can only imagine how hard the work is therefore still tipped the 20% however would suggest to management to hire more friendlier and welcoming staff since overall, they are getting a descent fair share of the tip. Would suggest waiter not being so short and abrupt. Please acknowledge when the customer asks for something such as we would like another round of drinks for the table. Instead after the 2nd time, he states he heard us. Prior to that when we asked a different waiter for another round who was helping clear our plates, the response we received was, "I'm not your waiter." Instead, "absolutely, I will let your waiter know." Before we finished our meal, we were already asked if we wanted boxes. That only gave us a sense that we were being rushed out. I don't think anyone should feel rushed. After all, we were still ordering drinks and not just occupying the table without any additional orders. My boyfriend and I stopped by town hearth here on Saturday to celebrate his birthday. The bar offered a standard selection of cocktails was overall pretty busy and noisy in the bar area but I do love a good energetic scene on a Saturday night. Our server said the town hearth was known for their steaks, and if we were interested, that was definitely the way to go. I was pretty hungry at this point, so I went ahead and ordered the fillet medium rare. As a side dish, they have a cacio e pepe. Now I've had fillet many times and I've had Cacio e Pepe many times, but never together, and let me tell you that is the key here. What you're gonna wanna do is take some of the extra sauce from the pasta and pour it over your fillet. Just trust me on this. The mashed potatoes were delicious and Brussels sprouts did not disappoint. One time while my boyfriend was in the bathroom, James came to check in on us. I mentioned that we were celebrating his birthday at the end of the week, and James promptly asked which dessert we would like him to bring to the table. I loved the restaurant. They were very accommodating when we were slightly late. The ambience is beautiful. They were very busy so our server seemed stressed but was nice to us when he was there. I just wished he was more present/available because I did want another drink from the bar. All the food was delicious (filet, Mac n cheese, ahi tuna, fries, scallops, bacon, red velvet cake, crème brûlée,) the only thing I could not eat was the pasta it was extremely salty. We had to toss it. The other downside was our table was right by car which was visually pleasing but all the other patrons were also wanting to enjoy it and take pictures. This resulted in loud clumsy parties of people (some overly drunk) standing by our table bumping into the back of heads and table. They were so close we could smell their breath when they talked and let out loud bursts of laughter. This also made it impossible for the servers to get to our table. I get the car is a big photo opportunity but good lord people need to have some manners or mgmt needs to streamline the photo taking. I was late to the party and apparently missed an issue with being seated. It must've been a real commotion bc they were very apologetic and extremely attentive thereafter. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and helped guide me into choosing the best dish for me as I do not eat meat or dairy. Everyone's food was great and I would definitely order the vegan pasta again! The chocolate cake was not it! But the follow up dessert was much better. There are several things about the place worth mentioning in this review: 1. It is eclectic. There are 64 chandeliers, one over each table and along the bar area. There is a motorcycle ( Ducati) and an 1962 MG as part of the decor along with a 5,000 gallon aquarium. 2. The waitstaff are well trained and very conversant about the menu and the place itself. 3. We were a party of 6 and everyone had something different from: (a) steaks cooked medium rare ( b) Hawaiian fish ( c) scallops (d) pork chop 4. We all really liked / loved our food and cocktails 5. We had the appetizers of meatballs and firecracker shrimp too. 6. We had a 5pm reservation on a Sunday night and when we left they were on a waitlist. It got crowded quick. 7. The only reason I did not give them a 5 was that it was incredibly loud. The tables are close together and music playing in the background. However, I took my fiance there for his bday celebration last night and the server knew we were celebrating a bday (my sister and brother-n-law were there as well).
