    Margarita with hibiscus
    Shamara M.

I went to this restaurant during the week for a company's dinner. We were a big group, the service was excellent. We ordered a few appetizers like Sea bass ceviche, Lobster elote, Coliflor asada, guacamole and chips, they were all delicious! I had 2 cocktails, the Margarita with hibiscus and a Skinny Margarita that tasted more like a Paloma. I also had the boneless ribeye, Grilled Jumbo Asparagus with Spicy Citrus Aioli and Pistachio Nut and the Manchego Whipped Potatoes with Chorizo Gravy, the manchego potatoes were AMAZING!!! OMG, the women's bathroom has to be one of the most beautiful bathrooms I've seen in my life! I wish I had taken a picture or video but it wasn't the right time.

Quatra leches cake is a don't miss!!
    Bruce E.

Beautiful location with inside and covered patio dining. Service was professional and attentive from the moment we walked in the door. First to the table is fresh chips I. Strips with 6 unique sauces to experiment with. The lobster elote was a unique offering and tasted nice. It was good but I probably would try something different next time. The cauliflower in a marvelous sauce with pistachios was worthy of being an entree. Sooo good. Then came a trio of enchiladas- shrimp, crab and lobster. Each had a different sauce and it was apparent effort and care went on not the preparation. They were well prepared but I would look forward to trying something else next visit. Quatra Leches cake will Change your life. It was large enough for three people but I finished it myself. Do not miss it although the apple tart was stellar as well.

    Chips and salsa

I'm in love with this place. The decor and energy on the inside is beautiful and aesthetic and the service was too tier. All of the furniture was high quality lovely. The complementary chips and salsa are Next level due to the multiple salsas at varying spice levels and the chips are house made. We ordered shrimp tacos and fish tacos and neither were missing flavor or texture however, the fish tacos took the prize. Crispy fish, flavorful sauce and crunchy slaw. Lastly we had the Quattro leches and it was Devine, fluffy, milky and fresh. A must if you want phenomenal food and a great environment to enjoy it. Also shout out Natalia who was an exceptional waiter.

Skinny Margarita that ain't skinny on the alcohol so good!

This place was great. I got a recommendation to check out this place and I'm glad I went. The skinny margarita I had was stiff AF. Five stars! The vibe, the lighting and decor let you know you were in for a great experience overall. Beautiful. I sat at the bar, my favorite location when dining alone. You get to people watch and chat with the service. I had the house salsa, there were like 5. I loved all of them! Very delicious! I started with the Crispy Ribeye. DONT. It's not good. Whyyyyyyy would you char a ribeye to a crisp?? No flavor, dry and super hard. Don't recommend it. Alexis, the bartender that helped me insisted she get me something else which I appreciated because I would have never sent it back. It's rude. Even though I believe well done crispy ass ribeye is rude too lol. I got the crispy pork belly. Now that is ok to crisp up! IT WAS PHENOMENAL. I was so stuffed. I only had the pork belly and the one drink. The tequila was so yummy but I know my limits. I couldn't have another while driving. Highly recommend this place for a date night or sexy dinner.

The sea bass is amazing. Perfect with a white wine. Got the chocolate martini. Could not be happier! Loved the chips and salsa. Amazing service.

Had my Birthday dinner at The Mexican for the first time.. We definitely enjoy our time there, the food was good and the service was also very good. We ordered and Queso Fundido & The Cauliflower. Both had very good taste and flavor. The ambiance look to be better inside than in the outside patio area. Luckily we got sat on a side where the sun really did not bother us, but there were some tables that were just not satisfied with all the sudden hitting them right in the face. They need to find a better way to block the sun from that patio. All the food that we ordered was very delicious. We definitely did enjoy it.

    Guacamole
    Tia R.

The service was great but the establishment itself was so very loud. The guacamole was great. But that's about where it ends for me. I got several hot shareables and shrimp tacos. Maybe I need to try something else but between that and the noise I'm not sure I would return

I am still thinking about the ambiance at The Mexican in Dallas. From the moment you walk in, the entire space feels like an experience. The decor is stunning, the lighting sets the perfect mood, and every detail feels luxurious yet inviting. I had the sea bass ceviche and the red snapper tacos. Both dishes were absolutely amazing.

Stopped by The Mexican in the Turtle Creek area for an event. When you arrive, the restaurant is beautiful and definitely doesn't feel like you are in Dallas. The only parking option pretty much is valet however, there might be a spot or two on the street if you don't mind parallel parking or if you would rather not valet your car. The entrance is located in the valet area and you'll then walk inside and proceed to the host stand to be seated. The atmosphere feels very upscale and nice with a lot of gold everywhere. We seated in one of the private rooms off to the side. When we sat down, we participated in a tequila tasting of a Anejo tequila and a Blanco tequila which were both excellent. I then placed a drink order for the Frida cocktail which contained siete misterios mezcal, pineapple, and pomegranate liqueur. The drink was excellent and surprisingly very strong. Next, I ordered the New York strip steak which was a 14 oz heartbrand akaushi american wagyu with roja habanero sauce on the side. The steak was excellent and had great flavor and not too much fat. The roja habanero sauce was very spicy but added a nice flavor contrast to the steak. Lastly, for dessert I ordered the cuatro leches cake which also had elderflower-soaked berries, rompope, and licor 43 cream. The cake was excellent and one of the best leches cakes I've had in Dallas. If you are in the area and looking for a high end dining option for a date night I'd highly recommend checking out The Mexican.

Domingo provided my Wife & I an excellent experience. He gave us the best service we have ever gotten. The ambiance was calm and we enjoyed the restaurant layout and felt great. The food was amazing & everything we tried Domingo recommended and it was fantastic!

I did it again. I let my high expectations get ahead of the actual experience. As a result I was disappointed in The Mexican. Yelpers tend to make a big deal about milestone reviews like,100,1000 or in my case....2000! So,think it through. I've decided a special milestone review doesn't have to be a gleaming 5 Star beauty all tied up with a bow. An honest well thought out review by a well qualified Yelper ( moi?) is maybe a better idea. Why? It's just as important if not more so, to really look under the hood and kick the tires, as the price point and expectations rise. With that in mind, here goes. Location Ok,let's go way back and start from the first. This area was established as a light industrial and manufacturing location back in the 1950s, after the Corp of Engineers upgraded the levee system preventing flooding by the Trinity River. The area went through a phase of economic decay but is now at the apex of Gentrification. The mid century building The Mexican occupies, is unrecognizable, as the small manufacturing plant it started as. Beautiful. Design It's no accident this area is known as the design district. Again, established in the 1950s, design in Dallas, more so than ever, is orchestrated out of one of the many companies here. It's front and center in The Mexican. When you walk in, the well thought out and elegant entryway, your eyes adjust to see a beautiful cohesion of lighting, materials, surfaces and proportion. Check Food Their website states their intention as," The Promise". Paraphrasing, " to transport you to an enticing faraway corner of Mexico. To manifest our power and passion in the kitchen. Carefully thought out and executed with intention....etc. Possibly the staff working the night I was there haven't been briefed on the mission. It missed on every account except the drinks. EL Rey "the King" was the best drink I've had in a long time and at $19 it should be. I could have sat at the beautiful bar drinking these all night. I would have been happier. Add the Frieda witch was good but sweet and the very good Muieres Divinas and the drinks do the trick. Everything on the menu sounds enticing and after a hard choice was made I went with the: Ahi Tuna Jardin and Camarones-describied as seasame crusted sushi grade yellowfin tuna, arugula, shaved babycarrots, watermelon reddish. lime rice, jardin sauce. The two overcooked shrimp on top hid the very small extremely thin sliced tuna. The weird rice didn't help and at $48 is better suited on the appetizer menu at $28. Camarones-enchiladas are described as sautéed gulf shrimp, toasted garlic, grilled onions.Oaxaca cheese, queso fresco, salsa ranchera. Really didn't look like it sounded and was underwhelming. At $38 for two uninspiring, small enchiladas, this dish was DOA. Service Our server while nice was overbearing and obviously had minimal if any fine dining experience. painful. In closing, I have to add that, I'm not part of this type of dining scene. You know the one where intentions are good, stakes are high, but you don't feel valued. Good luck to The Mexican, but I don't get the buzz and I won't be back.

Went for a corporate event so will be a bit biased but good service, good entrées and decent drinks but the shareable sides where the highlight. Free valet too. One downside my friend had food poisoning the next day.

This place was amazing. Sarah, our waitress, was fantastic. She was very attentive and positive. The food was fresh and flavorful. From the manchego whipped potatoes to the filet and bone marrow tacos, the dishes were distinct with just enough creativity in flavor. The amount of food was just right and presentation was perfect. We'll definitely be back as there are many other dishes we'd like to try.

I see a picture titled "cigar bar". Is there a strong cigar smell in the entire restaurant?

No, there is not a cigar smell in the entire restaurant

Do they play music in the dining area or only if you are dining in the bar area?

When we were there we definitely had music in the dining area.

Can anyone who is African American speak on their experience? Are they inclusive?

We were just there and had an awesome experience. This seems like such an odd question . I am black and frequent fine dining often. The service was stellar. Never let anyone stop you from dining where you choose to dine.

What is the difference between Las Flores and Polanco dining rooms? When making reservations on Resy, you can choose between the two.

They're both private dining rooms. I think Las Flores is prettier. But I didn't know about What Travis said, that they didn't offer the same menu.

    Do they have happy hour?

    No they don't

Do they take walk ins or have bar seating?

No. But what has us coming back is their consistency and attention to detail. The space is gorgeous and each room brings a different vibe to the dining experience. We were sat in the darkest of the rooms that was very romantic, and thankfully the music wasn't too loud. When we were seated we found a frame on the table holding a message congratulations us on our anniversary, with our names included. It was very sweet! Our server was prompt, attentive, and very charming. She asked us questions about ourselves and also gave great recommendations throughout the night. The drinks were good! However, the Passionate Kiss started to taste very chemical forward the longer it sat (I'm a slow drinker) so I only finished half of it. Not sure if it was because of the print on the foam originally or what, but it wasn't pleasant. I got the scallops and loved them, especially since I was able to try their orzo with it that normally comes with the salmon instead. The scallops were tender and the flavor was rich and well balanced with the rest of the plate. My boyfriend loved his chops and devoured everything. He also got the Potatoes Au Gratin and couldn't get enough. They were very rich and had great flavor. I had previously seen reviews from others saying the potatoes and other dishes were bland but that was not our experience. The rolls were one of the best parts. I wish I could whip butter like that at home. Towards the end they brought us a couple of glasses of Prosecco to cheers with, and a complimentary dessert (the Samoa sundae). We also ordered the Chocolate Decadence which was incredibly good. The goal is to come back next year, and plenty of times before that as well. Thanks to the Evelyn team for such a great dinner!
