A low-lit lounge and bar, a space that feels intimate and yet, the music playing from the speakers (not too loud, just there) gives it an expectant energy, too. It's the kind of place you enjoy being because it feels like an experience. I'm going to have a unique, well-made drink tonight in a cool spot. This place keeps coming up when I was looking into bars at Dallas, so I knew I had to check it out - and I am glad I did. We came on a Tuesday night and even then they were busy. We didn't have to wait for a table but the place was full by the time we sat down. Vibe is intimate and chic - dim lighting, velvet seating and vintage-inspired decor. It's perfect spot for a date night or catching up with friends over drinks. Their cocktails had fun and interesting flavor combinations that you won't find elsewhere. Parking options are a little slim here but theres a lot across the street for about 12$. This is a really cute date night restaurant with lots of shops around. It has a speakeasy style with no signage on its door. We loved the 70pp menu, the charcuterie selections were thoughtful. The steak frites has a spicy sauce on it and hamachi was absolutely perfect. Finally got a chance to stop by Apothecary after hearing about the cocktail program for so long and being a fan of Rye for many years. My husband and I and a good friend of ours came on a Saturday night at the end of April and had a blast trying several different drinks and delicious bites. My favorite cocktail of the night was the Butter Curry cocktail; I thought it tasted just like advertised but somehow still with this smooth sweetness that went down dangerously easy :) The smoked salmon tea sandwiches were a bit dry but we always love the beef cheek tacos and have to order it every time it's on the menu, and it did not disappoint. Surprise hit was the fish eggs and chips dish, which came with perfectly crispy fries and an incredibly delicious and generous portion of creme fraiche onion dip studded with salmon roe and caviar. We had so much dip that we ordered another heaping serving of fries to finish it off! And of course, since I've been dying to try the chocolate kraut cake, we ordered that even though we were already pretty stuffed. I'm not usually a chocolate enjoyer but the sauerkraut really balanced the richness of the chocolate out; I kept saying it was like the very best version of a black forest cake, with the cherries swapped out for sweet-tart bits of kraut. Delicious and highly recommended. I read a few days after our visit that Apothecary's doing some sort of cocktail passport through the summer for each of the decade-based menus, so I guess we'll have to stop by again some time soon! This was my first time coming to Apothercary, came around 7pm so there was no issue getting in without a reservation. It's super cute inside with a nice bar and different seating areas. They had great music on and a menu with tons of items. My cocktail Horse Play was super yummy, it had tequila, cucumber horseradish and agua fresca . Pretty normalish prices around $20 a drink. I've been to apothecary twice in a row and been mistreated by the hostess. Their entitlement is disgusting , my friend was accused of having a fake ID, they had no legal process to authenticate the ID. We walk in and we're immediately greeted by a friendly host amongst a dark, warm interior. The space is small and was pretty packed once we arrived so there was no seating available inside. So we opted to sit outside until a table was free. While it was a bit chilly, each table has a small fire pit which was very cozy. We sat for a few moments before a space opened up and we were inside. The decor is amazing. And what was even more amazing were the drinks. Sadly I forgot her name, but she said she's been working here for I think 5 years and was EXCELLENT!! She listened to our preferences and knew exactly what to relay to the bartenders to whip up for us. My friends and I love mocktails, and she asked us to name 3 adjectives or if we have any syrups we wanted in particular. She did FANTASTIC. This bar is amazing and I will definitely return. I have never had a bar that was so accommodating and constantly checking up on us to make sure we were ok and liking our drinks! Our waiter was able to recommend drinks based on our alcohol preferences and not a single drink disappointed. The flavors of each craft cocktail were phenomenal. Service was very quick for being a craft cocktail lounge however we arrived at 5pm. Honestly it was great since we had the whole place to ourselves for the first 15 minutes until others started to trickle in. I've been wanting to come here for a long time and finally made it to Apothecary last night for a friend's birthday gathering. This is a speakeasy next door to Rye. It's very small and intimate with a very cool ambiance that would be great for a girls night or a date. The drinks are really good and creative. There are a lot of savory ingredients in many of the signature cocktails. One of the cocktails had garlic and thyme in it while another had beets and blue cheese. I had the Pekin Tom (peach smoked old fashioned) and a Manhattan. Both drinks were really good! The drinks here range between $14 and $20 so keep that in mind. Although Apothecary has some food offerings, its primary focus is on the drinks. Many of the dishes are small bites. We had the chicken tacos, funnel cake fries, and the meatballs. The fries were strange and didn't taste at all like fries and more like snake-like hushpuppies. The tacos were meh, granted I put the spicy sauce on the side. However, the meatballs were excellent. They were a tangy, Asian flavor, which was unexpected, and very tender. Our waiter was really funny and friendly, and was very patient with us as we made our drink choices. Stopped in for a quick bite and drinks recently and immediately fell in love with the themed decor and vibes of apothecary. I also appreciated the quick and friendly service. Food - I was not a fan of the oysters. I asked for broiled oysters but they were more raw than I anticipated and I did not like the garnish on them (5/10). If you order them as part of the happy hour menu, you can get 6 for 16. The plates we were a fan of: the meatballs (10/10), and the arancini caterpillar was another hit (9/10). We also liked the croquet but wouldn't recommend it given better things on the menu. The Yucatán steak (you can get it in tacos or as a plate) was delicious -- 100/10. Drinks - We started off with the Unbirthday Cake Fizz and the Empire Strikes Zwack. The Unbirthday Cake Fizz (8/10) was good. It reminded me of a morir soñando without the orange flavor in there. The Empire Strikes Zwack is good if you love old fashions. It had a hint of sweet but definitely bitter and strong. Because I prefer more sweet drinks I ordered the Only Fanz but exchanged the tequila for mezcal and it was phenomenal -- 100/10! I have been here a total of 3 times and each time, I'm more impressed than the last time I visited! This place, is a little tricky to find, as the outside is easy to walk past---but once you settle in it's a very intimate and pleasing setting. The cocktails are all well crafted, creative, and tasty. I'm always so surprised at the menu and creativity that goes into each beverage. All of the bartenders have been very friendly, and I always leave with a smile on my face. I have yet to try the food, but when I do spot some it always smells good and the menu looks delicious. Decided to grab a few drinks after having dinner next door and I absolutely LOVED the Pekin Tom drink. I was a little skeptical at first, but I am so glad I decided to go for it. Although I also ordered the "better than expected" it was NOT better than expected. I could not get past the first sip and ended up getting another Pekin Tom instead. I was really looking forward to this place on my Dallas trip. Unfortunately when I got to my scheduled reservation I waited as no one was at host stand finally after a few min. the host sat us only for us to be sitting waiting for about twenty minutes with no one coming by. Apothecary had been on my list to check out for awhile and so glad we finally did! Love the speakeasy vibe. It was a nice quiet spot to grab a drink and some small bites. The 1990 drink theme was fun and whimsical and the drinks were delicious! The dude and sex everywhere from Yo Mama's drink selection were our favorites. Always love a Sandlot reference though and that was a grownup PB&J. We tried the pizza bites and the cannoli. The pizza bites were tasty and played into the nostalgia. The cannoli was fine but very small and probably wouldn't order again. The Chicago Style Cheesecake was amazing and we both highly recommend it. We were really appreciative of the service. This was a spontaneous decision to go so we didn't have a reservation but the hostess still accommodated us and even found us another table to shift to keep enjoying our time as it got closer to the time for the guests with a reservation. As soon as we arrived, I could tell by the small details outside that it was going to be an Alice in Wonderland themed bar. As soon as we stepped inside, my theory was confirmed. The decor itself is cute and whimsical, from the furniture hanging upside down from the ceiling to the movie posters in multiple languages. The menu was a storybook, which was really cool. I had the Unbirthday Cake Fizz and I was shocked that it tasted just like drinking a liquid birthday cake. This is my favorite flavor, but it can be done so poorly so I was nervous when I ordered it. Our first time at Apothecary. I'm giving a 4 star based on the atmosphere. The atmosphere was pretty cool and chill. A few areas of opportunity: (I am going to bullet point in random order) 1. We ordered the charcuterie board. Def NOT worth the $36. The meats were sub par, there were only 5 small thick crackers, and the other additions were nothing special. The other food seemed VERY over priced so we decided to go elsewhere for dinner. 2. The cocktail concept was creative; however the quality of the drinks were "meh." The Dude was "ok" but overly "milky" and had a weird aftertaste. We also ordered a few "basic" cocktails that were "fine" but I'm not sure they were worth the $20 per drink price tag. 3. The service was "fine." They do emphasize the time limit for parties of 2, 3, etc but I think the servers are "hyper-sensitive" about it making it almost uncomfortable like you can't enjoy your time there -- almost as if you just have to hurry. The guests sitting next to us blatantly asked the server "if we keep ordering drinks can we at least stand at the bar?" The sever said "I'll check to see if there will be room." I thought it was crazy the server would actually turn business away based on their time limit coming to an end! Overall, I liked the ambiance and atmosphere. Having visited most of the A-tier bars and lounges around Dallas I'm really surprised Apothecary is so often mentioned. Due to my three main gripes below I'll probably not return and won't likely recommend. First, the pink couches that surround the lounge perimeter (40% of the seating) are slanted at such a sharp incline we felt like we were slipping off the entire time. Having sat in tons of lounges this excessive recline is unavoidable but at Apothecary it is for some reason intentional. The seating was not conducive for a relaxing second drink and made us want to leave asap. Second, the layout is just one large square room with some sloppy design elements like the dinky empty frames above the bar area and the plywood wall along the bar looks like a temporary concealment to broken window panes. While clearly intentional (or ironic?) it was a jarring, ugly aesthetic for such a central focal point, and incongruent to feeling cozy - bar vibe gives Home Depot. Third, playlist went from hokey Christmas song to Frank Ocean, back to Christmas, to Frank, Christmas, Frank, all night. It was annoying and the group next to us was also laughing at how bad it was. For a place to have a great vibe, music has to be on-point, not an afterthought or employee democracy.
