Prosciutto wrapped chicken over mashed potatoes
    Sammo C.

My husband and I came in here after an evening at the arboretum and really enjoyed the experience! We sat at the bar and had the pleasure of meeting Will. He was super helpful and patient as we had never been before! He recommended an off menu special of chicken wrapped in prosciutto on a bed of mashed potatoes with Asparagus and it was good!! We also really enjoyed the laid back but sophisticated atmosphere, it seemed like a great spot for a date or a dinner with a small group of friends. It's a smaller spot so I'd think a party of like 6+ check to see reservations.

Excellent vibes. Incredible, welcoming service. Good food. I wanted a little more out of the final product for each dish. Proteins were a little dryer and over seasoned, but maybe it was an off night!' Nothing at all was bad. Everything was good. But none of the food matched the excellence of the vibe and service.

Derby - 3/5 Scarlet - 3/5 Deviled Eggs - 4/5 Steak Frites - 3/5 Linguini Pasta - 3/5 Service was fantastic, a friendly and attentive waiter. The ambiance is perfect for a date night or dinner night friends. It is close and intimate, and even when full isn't too loud that you need to strain to hear. The food was decent overall. The steak was cooked medium but some parts of it came out more chewy than others. It also felt a bit over salted. The fries were tasty though some came out soggy while others came out crunchy. The pasta tasted alright. The drinks were about the same, good enough but not good enough to warrant another one.

Deviled eggs, the hot sauce is a great touch

The Lounge Here has an upscale 70s feel to it without being pretentious. It has been an East Dallas staple for several years now and we're making a point to consciously and intentionally frequent restaurants in our immediate area to keep the character of our neighborhood alive. We grabbed a couple of appetizers and settled in with some drinks, a steamy, boozy chai drink for me and as always for my husband a whiskey, neat. He had the same for round two but I decided to try something different, their cocktails have quirky names and mine was a Pear-odactyl. A martini style cocktail with pear liqueur, lime and I don't recall the other ingredients but it was delicious and I highly recommend it. We can't wait to come back and try their actual entrees but whether you live in the area or have to make the drive across town Lounge Here is definitely worth the visit, I promise you'll love it.

As for food, of course we started with the deviled eggs because that's what was recommended to us. They absolutely lived up to the hype and I'm dreaming about the next time I will eat these. The waitress recommended the lemon caper chicken to me and it was perfectly lightly breaded, and I'm not a huge fan on grits but loved these. The consistency was nice. My husband had the pork chop and he said it was very good. It was also ginormous. We finished off the mule with a flourless espresso chocolate cake, which hit the spot.

As big fans of Misti Norris and Petra, we first heard about Rainbow Cat when it was still a temporary popup at the bar. Having now tried her newer creations at Saint Valentine, we can safely say we'll definitely be back in the future for the drinks and vibe as well. Service was great throughout, with Paul and several other bartenders and servers casually conversing with and taking care of us the whole time we were there. It was super fun getting a glimpse of how the bar and kitchen work and also how enthusiastic everyone else also is about Misti's food. My husband and I started with a couple drinks that hit the spot: my Bryan St. Swizzle was colorful and refreshing, and my husband's Cheri Cheri Lady was smoky and smooth. We split three food items that most intrigued us, and they were all delicious. Our favorite was the Unicorn Dog, which came with a flavorful sausage with a delightful snap atop a bed of the best crispy rice we've had in a while. Spam Musubi was definitely also an elevated version of the classic, and the potato noods were basically a baked potato in noodle soup form, which I loved. We were recommended the Sour Patch to go with the Unicorn Dog but honestly the pickles weren't super necessary IMO; the dish was already wonderfully balanced with the mustard and onions. We ended the night with the cinnamon toast crunch dessert which was a lovely cap to the meal. The whipped milk was super unique, though my husband did say he would've preferred a slightly sweeter semifreddo, which would also mimic the temperature of cereal milk better. Something to consider for a future dessert maybe! We'll find ourselves downtown a little more now that the fall sports season is getting under way, so I can't wait to come back when we're in the area and try other things on the menu!

You are treated like family as a stranger. Be ready to be among people who want to know you. I guess I fit as some there knew my friends from other dive bars. I never realized how small the Dallas Dive bar world was. I have some cool friends. The music is good on the video jukebox. The tears came to my eyes as a few post 9/11 patriotic songs were played (I bleed Army green and so did some that didn't return home to their moms intact.) Good thing a good 2 step or waltz never played or I might have had to find a partner. The decor is somewhat Green Bay Packer-ish. Okay, a lot of Green Bay love in the decor. Heh, yes, I still carry a grudge from the 1967 Ice Bowl as a life long Cowboy fan should! But, I respect a bar owner who has actual stock in his/her team and displays it proudly!
