I have never heard of this restaurant prior to our visit but Chat recommended for my daughter's Twilight-themed birthday party based on the ambience and service. The staff was incredibly helpful, even leading up to the actual reservation. We had a party of 8 that sat in a nice corner booth. The overall space is a little small, but it's actually perfect for the vibe. It was very busy on a Saturday night, but (not surprisingly) the staff was incredibly on top of things. We ordered some appetizers, which were phenomenal. A side of macaroni and cheese that had some homemade potato chips on top. And every single entrée our party ordered did not disappoint. Literally all 8 dishes had 0 complaints. I think this speaks to the quality overall at the restaurant because that is hard to impress 7 teenage girls and a foodie adult. They were super supportive of holding my daughter's birthday cake. Our waiter even slicing it when it was time. He obviously was a pro because there's no way i would have figured it out due to the size and shape. This was an incredible experience and I'm shocked that we had never heard of it before. Omg I really enjoyed my solo date! Skylar was my waiter, he was so attentive. Although he's fairly new he navigated the menu like a long time employee. I asked for his recommendations, everything he recommended was super yummy.. I started with some deviled eggs! The splash of hot sauce complimented the eggs so well and the crunch of the bacon put a nice twist to it. I really enjoyed the filling it wasn't too sweet nor did it have a lot of extra ingredients. 10/10 for sure!! For my entree I went with the blackened snapper, I subbed mashed potatoes instead of the potato salad. I'm very particular about my potato salad I was too nervous to try it. After speaking with Paula I wish I would've tried it. No worries I'll come back just to try it. This snapper is good some of the best blackened snapper I've had. It was so moist and flaky the cream sauce made it even better. Chefs kiss for sure! 10/10 For dessert I had the flourless chocolate cake, if you're a chocolate lover this will be your go to. Although it says cake to me it had more of like a fudge texture. The raspberry sauce really helped out with cutting the sweetness of the chocolate. Lounge Here is another East Dallas favorite. We met friends for dinner before Snowmegeddon happened. What makes them unique is their groovy, kitschy design. They've been a great add to the hood for a long time. The food is solid and they know how to cocktail. The menu changes each season as the bartenders come up with interesting creations. Their execution is really good and we're lucky to have them. I had two nice cocktails. Their Espresso Martini and Vieux Carre were perfect for a cold night. Everyone makes an Espresso Martini these days, but they can be hit or miss. It was the perfect balance of coffee, slightly sweet and frothy. Well done!! If you haven't had a Vieux Carre (photo 4) you should. It's a classic boozy rye cocktail with cognac, Benedictine, sweet vermouth, Peychauds and Angostura bitters. This boozy masterpiece is a classic New Orleans recipe named after the French Quarter ("old square") and created in the late 1930s by Walter Bergeron at the Hotel Monteleone's Carousel Bar. My husband and I came in here after an evening at the arboretum and really enjoyed the experience! We sat at the bar and had the pleasure of meeting Will. He was super helpful and patient as we had never been before! He recommended an off menu special of chicken wrapped in prosciutto on a bed of mashed potatoes with Asparagus and it was good!! We also really enjoyed the laid back but sophisticated atmosphere, it seemed like a great spot for a date or a dinner with a small group of friends. The Lounge Here has an upscale 70s feel to it without being pretentious. It has been an East Dallas staple for several years now and we're making a point to consciously and intentionally frequent restaurants in our immediate area to keep the character of our neighborhood alive. We grabbed a couple of appetizers and settled in with some drinks, a steamy, boozy chai drink for me and as always for my husband a whiskey, neat. He had the same for round two but I decided to try something different, their cocktails have quirky names and mine was a Pear-odactyl. A martini style cocktail with pear liqueur, lime and I don't recall the other ingredients but it was delicious and I highly recommend it. Coolest interior wall in Dallas may be a weird way to start a restaurant review, but when you check out this place you'll know what I'm talking about. The ambience is next level. The contrast between the parking lot and the interior makes it even cooler. You'll feel like you're walking in to an old record store or a speakeasy, but then find yourself in a scene from Mad Men. The bad: the parking is very limited and honestly annoying. There aren't many spots and most specifically call out other places to park....if we come again, we will likely uber. Second frustration--we came on a weeknight around 5:45 with 7-8 open booths and requested one. I didn't think I needed to make a reservation, since it was a random week night and nothing special going on. The hostess said that they were all reserved....I mentioned it was our first visit there and if really all of the books were guaranteed for those guests. She paused and said she wasn't sure if many some won't show up...this was honestly ridiculous. I've literally been a hostess and with that many booths -- you can accommodate at least a few walk in parties that are there and save a few for reservations that prefer booths. The most annoying thing is that there were consistently 3 or more booths open the entire time we were there. My guest and I were quite annoyed. Not a good policy. The ugly: parking once again...I feel like some of the further away parking as sketchy and ran the risk of it being towed. My best friend and I rarely get to see each other because we live in different cities, so this dinner was supposed to be special. She was excited to take me to her favorite restaurant in Dallas and made a reservation for Saturday, 1/31/26 at 6:30 PM for two people. We arrived exactly at 6:30 PM for our reservation, only to be told our table wasn't ready. Fine--we've both worked in the service industry and understand things happen. We were happy to wait a few minutes for them to reset our table. But the table directly to our right had been seated before we arrived and was still there afterward, which becomes important later. We ordered drinks and an appetizer and took our time catching up. Around the 45 minute mark, we ordered dinner, which came out almost immediately. Our server was great--no issues there. The problem was the hostess. At 7:53 PM -- and yes, I checked the time because I was genuinely stunned -- the hostess approached our table and ONLY our table to say they were busy and were hoping to "flip the table soon." At this point, we had already asked for the check and had a to go box visibly sitting on the table. Let me be clear: We had a 6:30 PM reservation, arrived on time, and were seated late. And by 7:53 PM, barely an hour and twenty minutes after arrival, we were being pressured to leave. Meanwhile, the table next to us -- who had been there longer, had finished their meals, and were simply babysitting drinks -- was not approached at all. Not a word. They were left completely alone. We were the only table singled out, and it was blatant. This behavior was unacceptable, unprofessional, and honestly embarrassing for an establishment my friend has supported for so long. I cannot comprehend why a hostess would think it's appropriate to rush out a table with a reservation, especially when other tables who had overstayed us were untouched. Not only will I never return, but I sincerely hope my best friend reconsiders supporting a place she has frequented for so long, only to be treated this way. This might be one of my new go to spots! Absolutely gorgeous on the inside and loved having little tinted screens in between the booths for some added intimacy. The mushroom bolognese is vegan if you ask for no Parmesan and was a generous portion. Service was top notch with frequent check ins. Our waitress was wonderful in making sure our items were vegan. Would love to see some more vegan options in the future (such as a dessert!!) The group next to us was a little distracting as they had members of their party crawling under the table and at one point we're making some very unpleasant sounds? Not the fault of the restaurant but I do wish they had asked them to maybe bring it down a little bit to be more respectful of the rest of the restaurant. I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately, the food didn't impress. We had the Steak Fritte, and while the fries were fine, the steak was way too chewy because of all the fat. The Chicken Fried Ribeye had too many elements on the plate that didn't seem to work together. We started with the Pimento Cheese appetizer and asked for it without ham, but it arrived with ham anyway. They quickly corrected the mistake, which was appreciated, but it didn't save the meal. This review is specifically for their brunch. Upscale southern place that's hit or miss on the food the serve, with cocktails that woo me in their excellence. The quetzacotl cocktail was amazing! Whoever works the bar is truly gifted. My drink had layers that bloomed throughout sipping it. While I cant say whether every drink is as well crafted as mine, Id say its worth getting a cocktail here. I was impressed by the spirit selection as well for whiskey and mezcal. We started off with some appetizers to share and they were ok. The Fried Green Tomatoes are a 5 to 1 ratio in regards of tomato to breading. Never have I had slices of tomatoes be served so thick! Either the line cooks were sloppy in their cutting, or the chef really likes sinking his teeth into huge portions of tomatoes. It had a decent cornmeal like breading that could have been thicker, but had a good taste. Overall I cant recommend it, but I didn't hate it. Jalapeno Cream Cheese Toast is simple but satisfying. They serve it on some fluffy yet crispy sourdough bread that's a great primer for the cream cheese and candied jalapenos. There wasn't anything special about the cream cheese, but I was quite satisfied with this. The duck Egg Hash is a great choice for an entrée if youre wanting starchy vegetables and gamey duck flavor. They load this up with duck meat and it really makes this dish shine. My only complaint is that youre not focused on your meal, the flavor profile turns into a blur. I took a bite of the chicken fried steak and thought it was pretty good. They marinade the steak in something to make it tender and extra savory. The breading is pretty good as well. It reminds me of a buttermilk crust. Keep in mind this meal is huge! I couldn't believe it when the waiter brought us the half portions! Definitely not for the dainty or small eater. We ordered the Fried French Toast as a dessert, since we wanted to try it, but thought it would be too sweet as an entrée. It worked out as a dessert, although if you like sweet and savory, this does fine as an entrée. The outside breading was nice and crunchy, reminding me of a fair state food item. The inside had a lot more egg than I thought there would be. It leans more into a strata or quiche territory with the amount that they used. I was expecting something more of a thick bread than a wet egg bread mix. The pecans they add on top are a nice touch. Lounge Here feels like an establishment that would fit right in within Austin. Lots of mid century interior that feels elegant and swanky, yet everyone dressed in fairly casual clothing. The food could have been better across the board, whether that was in presentation or the composition of the meals.
