I love love love dive bars, and this is a true one by all means. The place looks like a dump from the outside and not a place I would have ever thought about going in to. Luckily, I have cool friends and they found this bar a few months back and I finally got to go check it out! The place looks old, and has that old true dive bar character to it. The owner is really nice and there is a bartender named Kristi that kicked butt. There are plenty of TV's around so we got to watch the Rangers game. The juke box is pretty good too. Yesterday they had a pot-luck BBQ for Memorial Day that was free! Home cooked meal, ftw! I will definitely be back!

Still LOVE this place. Kristi is the best manager/ bartender in DFW! She remembers what you drink...even if you change it up once in a while! All the patrons are down home folks and no one is too pretentious. Occasionally some entitled idiot will darkened the place but us regulars put them in their places! LOL! Also, the occasional hottie will brighten our visit. Video bowling, food on Sundays...what else could a girl ask for? Never change Fireplace Lounge!

A bar that's a simple white building in the middle of a large lot that the regulars park all around, with a cozy fire pit out back. Inside is the kind of straight forward drinking bar that exists in many small towns from Texas to the Midwest. Friendly regulars and bartenders will chat your night away. Whiskey n coke or can beer, your in the right spot.

The Fireplace Lounge deserves 6 stars, not 5. Only the cool kids know; this is the best dive in DFW!

We got a cheeseboard, but if I had to recommend one thing, definitely the fried mushrooms if you like mushrooms. They're huge and the spicy cilantro sour cream sauce is killer! We sat in the indoor/outdoor area, which was my fave. It can take a minute to flag someone down when it's busy, but that felt understandable for how busy they were. Easy place to settle into and lose track of time a bit--just drinks, conversation, and good food without overthinking it.

I came for "just one pint" and left three days later wearing someone else's sweater, speaking in a…read morequestionable accent, and convinced I'm 1/16th Irish on my mother's side (DNA test still pending). The Guinness is poured so perfectly it should be in the Louvre. The bartender, Austin (I'm pretty sure that's his real name and not just what he tells customers), has the patience of a saint and the sarcasm of a man who's been asked "Do you have anything like Guinness but less dark?" one too many times. Highlights: The fish & chips were so good I briefly considered converting to Catholicism just so I could thank God properly. The bathroom graffiti is poetic. "Roses are red, violets are blue, I came for a piss and met half the crew." - actual quote. Then you've got Hannah, who's basically the pub's chaos coordinator. She's got blonde hair that could guide ships in a fog and a laugh that echoes like a banshee having a great time. Don't sleep on Wes - He'll nod once, slide you your drink, and if you're lucky, mutter something profound like "Life's short, drink good stout." Then he disappears to polish glasses like he's auditioning for a monastery. Absolute mystery man, 10/10 enigma. And rounding out the crew is Paige, the wildcard. She's got stories that start with "Back in then..." and end with police chases, lost sheep, and at least one exploding still. She'll flirt with your grandma, roast your ex in three sentences or less. There is also this Asian guy that looks like a confused troll with blonde hair. He lives up to the saying once you go Asian it's amasian. Can't forget the blonde girl that's going through the Dallas legacy transition of bottle service to real estate. Shes as good at serving as she is selling real estate. These people run the bar like a well-oiled dysfunctional family. They banter with each other louder than the jukebox, remember birthdays you forgot you told them, and have an unspoken code: if you're having a rough night, they'll slide you a free shot and pretend it was a mistake. If you're being a gobshite, they'll roast you into next week without missing a pour.

As big fans of Misti Norris and Petra, we first heard about Rainbow Cat when it was still a temporary popup at the bar. Having now tried her newer creations at Saint Valentine, we can safely say we'll definitely be back in the future for the drinks and vibe as well. Service was great throughout, with Paul and several other bartenders and servers casually conversing with and taking care of us the whole time we were there. It was super fun getting a glimpse of how the bar and kitchen work and also how enthusiastic everyone else also is about Misti's food. My husband and I started with a couple drinks that hit the spot: my Bryan St. Swizzle was colorful and refreshing, and my husband's Cheri Cheri Lady was smoky and smooth. We split three food items that most intrigued us, and they were all delicious. Our favorite was the Unicorn Dog, which came with a flavorful sausage with a delightful snap atop a bed of the best crispy rice we've had in a while. Spam Musubi was definitely also an elevated version of the classic, and the potato noods were basically a baked potato in noodle soup form, which I loved. We were recommended the Sour Patch to go with the Unicorn Dog but honestly the pickles weren't super necessary IMO; the dish was already wonderfully balanced with the mustard and onions. We ended the night with the cinnamon toast crunch dessert which was a lovely cap to the meal. The whipped milk was super unique, though my husband did say he would've preferred a slightly sweeter semifreddo, which would also mimic the temperature of cereal milk better. Something to consider for a future dessert maybe! We'll find ourselves downtown a little more now that the fall sports season is getting under way, so I can't wait to come back when we're in the area and try other things on the menu!

For my entree I went with the blackened snapper, I subbed mashed potatoes instead of the potato salad. I'm very particular about my potato salad I was too nervous to try it. After speaking with Paula I wish I would've tried it. No worries I'll come back just to try it. This snapper is good some of the best blackened snapper I've had.
