I have only been to the Dallas bars a handful of times, but Skellig is easily one of my favorites. There are three main areas at Skellig which include the inside bar, the large patio, and the side patio. Most recently, we went to The Skellig the night after Halloween. It also happened to be Game 7 of the World Series where the Blue Jays tragically lost, but the game was still a high value product and Skellig had it playing on a huge projector screen that made it easy for everyone to enjoy. Inside it feels like your classic pub, but after hours it becomes a pretty traditional bar as people pack in and have a great time. All their drafts and specialty drinks are listed on their chalkboard wall and the bar sits perfectly in the middle with bartenders on all four sides which is perfect for a busy night out especially if it is Halloween, Game 7, or a night of great college football. The DJ was playing heaters all night with all the crowd favorites you want and it was crowded but not too extreme. One of my favorite features of The Skellig is the genuine Guinness on a nitrogen tap, poured the true Guinness way which creates a refreshing beverage you can split the G with or just chug. We came here for the first time today (taco Wednesday) and had a lovely experience: Service: excellent, attentive, and friendly Food: Loved the Mexican fried chicken, fried shrimp, cheesesteak, fish, and cauliflower tacos, all fresh, generously stuffed and delicious 'Ritas: house rita was respectable, even made one with "no sweet" for me, a fine partner to the tacos. We went here for TX/OU. It was a great atmosphere with both Texas and OU fans (unfortunately...) and we were able to all sit at the same table. The staff was exceptionally kind and understanding despite the anticipation of serving during such a wild game. I got a simple breakfast which was of course great, and the cider was wonderful. Every bar (especially in high traffic areas like North Henderson) has rude bouncers who treat you like trash, but this place is especially terrible. Everyone is so rude and arrogant it's just frustrating. I understand they probably deal with a lot of "dumb" people (for lack of a better word) but geez man, have you considered not being rude to people for asking a simple question. I don't think cussing me out after asking where to leave is an appropriate response. Unfortunately places like this don't care about customer service because people come anyways, so just take a chill pill before you go because you will be verbally harassed over dumb stuff. God forbid you drink at a bar, the bouncers seem surprised when someone who has been drinking comes up to them. It's as if they think no drunk people will come up to them in a bar. This place feels more like a place all the employees get paid to drink and some servers but most bartenders and managers are too drunk to even treat customers with respect. I get a lot of people come through not everyone is nice but doesn't give you the right to treat everyone like a drunk baby. So what this place has a big name but it's giving the health care system only trying to make money for itself and couldn't care less that i know 4 girls who have been drugged there all separate girls , phone and things getting stolen from my bag on me , and there is more people in line at this place to do coke in their bathroom it seems like. I get just "don't go back" but the lack of disrespect you get if you aren't a regular at the place is actually disgusting. I thought with the old gm gone things would change but sadly only has gotten worse i feel like. So many girls feel unsafe and when you tell anyone feels like they just laugh in your face it's completely disrespectful and little to know care for it's customers late night experiences "but hey that's Dallas ladies" is literally the response i got from employees but I'll be one of the few that doesn't go here and have actual self respect for myself. read more

Worst service I've gotten in Texas in years. Sitting on a half empty patio on Saturday afternoon, waited 15 minutes after receiving food and first beer for waitress to come by. On weeknights Skellig is a consistent, engaging neighborhood pub. Their beer companion board rivals some of the best charcuterie I've had in Dallas. The chicken tenders are crisp and fluffy, like Cane's, and the chocolate brownie is blissful. If you sit outside, make sure to let someone at the bar know because sometimes they forget to check on who has walked up. On weekends; however, Skellig turns into a raging sports center. They're packed wall to wall with post-grads and SMU students watching football and pregaming clubs. I wouldn't recommend trying to come for dinner as you won't get served anything but alcohol. read more

Lauren should definitely reconsider where she works due to her negligence. In addition, Caleb should not be customer facing. Visited Skellig for the first time recently and it was a very fun location. The staff most of all is truly great and very attentive to the clientele (S/O to Kassandra for being a great host!). They're quick to prepare your food and drinks, where the food selection on the menu is quite broad and very tailored to bar food. Good bar food at that. They're also very passionate, the owner himself was in the back kitchen preparing meals all day during the USA v. England World Cup match. The ambiance differs depending on time of day and what day of the week you visit. Friday/Saturday nights it becomes quite packed with a fairly young crowd but was still a great time. However, the mobility around the bar was incredibly limited. During the day around game time it was actually pretty great, not too many people, but just enough to have a great time. A wonderful neighborhood bar! Have not had a chance to try out the food menu, but the drinking experience has been nothing short of memorable. The bar staff had been extremely friendly- and you must try the El Chapo shot bomb. It's half tequila mixed with a Rattler beer, a perfect combination. Prices are extremely reasonable here- $10 for many signature cocktails. It really gets busy here on the weekends. My close friends were introduced to each here and became a couple shortly. A solid mix of indoor and outdoor bars. They have a cute fire pit for winter months. If you are looking for a high volume drink, I suggest you choose the Summer Beer cocktail. On the weekends late I would describe this place as "classy ratchet." It's not as crusty as places like Theory or Bottled Blonde, but people are still pretty drunk. For me, thats a pretty good time. I have a good time when I go but I don't feel like I need to shower 3 times afterwards or bring a full bottle of pepper spray. Overall I think this place is worth the hype. I have an hour before my appointment at the Apple store and thought it be a great idea to get a beer and appetizer, in lieu of being in the Apple Store. I was quickly greeted by Ian, one of the bartenders and asked if I was thirsty lol. One thing I wish bats would start doing is offer water or bring water to the guest when they seat at the bar. If I'm drinking water, I won't get drunk so fast and probably buy more beer! Duh but anyway I ordered the Hawaiian Roadrunner, which is a tropical blonde ale and the cheese fries. The ale was right on. The temp served was twin peaks cold and the cheese fries were freaking awesome. Be careful... those house pickled jalapeños sneak up on you. Came here recently for brunch, and it was one of the slowest server experience I've ever had. We waited almost 20 minutes for just mimosas and coffee. I don't get it. The place wasn't particularly swamped either. As for the food, it was good quality for the pricing. Definitely on the lower end compared to all the other brunch locations in Dallas. The mimosas were also a steal at $11/carafe. That's definitely the saving grace and earned a star on its own. I got the benedict, and it was cooked well and a perfect portion. It's a shame this place suffers due to slow service. I would definitely come back for the mimosas though.
