Feels very cozy in here. And old. Seems like a divey, casual, simple spot that hasn't changed in decades. The bar down the street. Wooden tables and a long wooden bar to belly up to. The menu doesn't say "Irish pub" to me. There's sandwiches, brats, pizza, fries, a cheese board, hummus and pita. Specials are written on a chalkboard overhead and there's almost a diner-like feeling. We didn't order food but the sandwiches around us looked and smelled delicious. Next time I'll order the charcuterie. They only had a couple ciders which is kind of disappointing, but at least they had something besides Angry Orchard. Of course there's plenty of beer and whiskey to choose from. Our bartender was nice, service is casual and no one's in a rush. I've been to the Dubliner half a dozen times in the last decade, always with friends that lived in the area that frequented regularly, so I always assumed the great service was because they were regulars. I live 180 miles away, so it's not usually an option for me. This time, I was in town and taking friends that had never been. Guinness, Harp's, and Smithwick are all on tap. We were there all afternoon watching a Cowboys game and had great service the entire time. Jerry the bartender has been there for about six years, so consistency appears to be the norm. read more

I took advantage of learning about this establishment through the whiskey pairing dinner, which is well documented in the myriad of photos. What can't be seen in the photos, is the incredible service that is consistently applied throughout the bar. An empty glass doesn't sit, the patron doesn't have to ask for water, and regular stops by different employees to ensure a good time by all. They know their whiskeys, beers, and have a fun assortment of cocktails. A couple of highlight items on the menu: A good selection of Texas whiskeys, and an incredible selection of Irish whiskeys. As for price point it's fair and realistic, they clearly want people to be regulars and are not looking to gouge people for a one time stop. As for the menu it's very limited over all, but a fair selection of sandwiches that could match a variety of interests and desires. I liked the bar much more than my date. Comfortable chairs, wood paneled walls, and I have it on good authority that they poor an awesome Guinness. The bartender was friendly, as were the guys sitting at the bar. The music was good and varied, and I tried one of their signature cocktails, the grapefruit mule. It was tasty. Well considering it's the last week of 2016 one would hope the customer service would be strong to end the year off right granted we had our beers promptly poured, but not without aside of sassiness as far as I'm concerned being in a group of customer service I don't think it was cool that the bartender said that we should have said hello before he decided NOT to tell us that there were NO servers available when we sat in the corner booth. I ended up at this bar by mistake, well it was worth it. As soon as we got there, it was time for a RR break. We were greeted by two girls waiting in line for the their turn. The bathroom's have a tiny 5x5 foyer in front of them. Upon entering the bathroom I noticed it was just enough space to turn around. Since I wanted to try something different, I told the bartender who had jet black hair with half of it dyed bleach blonde to pick out a drink for me. She came back with a Hoegarrten, which had a slice of lemon on the edge of the glass. Now normally this would be considered a infraction of man law, since fruiting of the beer is not allowed. But I was 'drinking outside of the box' so I drank it. It was a yellow and cloudy concoction, tasted some sweetness, but all in all it was good. My friend had a Spaten Oktoberfest, which had a very dark reddish tent, he was pleased with it's taste. Tab: $11 Maybe I'm too use to drinking cheap American beer for $2.50, but $6 for for a pint? Wow. The place had a very long bar, and was filled with smoke and people wearing soccer outfits, and everyone casually dressed. Cool place overall. Hidden gem in the land of bar food. First--those meatballs on the meatball sliders taste familiar. Well of course they do, who wouldn't recognize Jimmy's meatballs?! Always great. Also, they make the best turkey club I've ever had. I don't know what kind of sorcery they have going on in the kitchen but I like it. When you get chips they are served with a side of horseradish spread. I'm not a big potato chip fan but I am when they are smeared with that spread. And don't forget the pizza. I think it's off-menu, but it's also good. I have a friend who is a big fan of dinner at the bar and this is one place that we can always go to for good food and great drinks. I had a rather unpleasant experience here when I was at the bar. There was a middle aged man serving, I assume he was the manager (possibly owner). My wife asked me to get her something non alcoholic and I asked this manager / server what non alcoholic beverages they had. I had planned on ordering a beer for myself as well. To my surprise, he obnoxiously said "beer" and walked off saying "let me know when you know what you want". It was totally uncalled for and just plain rude. There was a gent sitting at the bar who saw this and just shook his head from side to side in sympathy. We were there to see a band. Another young lady took my order without any issues. This man is a nasty individual and I see from other reviews on here this is common behavior for him. My date and I (my lovely wife) split a Rueben and she had a margarita and I had a 20 oz Smithwick's on draft. The Rueben was great on marbled Rye with everything you need & Russian dressing on the side. The bartender made a mean margarita. Good thing since Diana eschews beer. Parking, of course, is terrible on Lower Greenville so either glom onto the parking behind the building for other places & take your chances or valet nearby. It's the only reason not 5 stars. Brought a large group of co-workers in here one evening after a work event. We were nearby at a restaurant when we decided to give Dubliner a try. We walked in and looked at the wall of draughts as everybody considered what drinks they wanted. One female colleague politely asked the bartender if it's a full bar, making sure it wasn't beer and wine only as the presentation provided itself. "Certainly looks that way" said the jackass bartender, as he smugly turned around and considered taking his own life. Another colleague politely asks "are these all your draughts?" while pointing to the rotators. "No" said the bartender, with little help or direction. Hey Mr Bartender, you know who you are - you aren't mad at us, you're mad at yourself! Sorry you didn't get a college education and you're now a career bartender, really. But do your employer a favor and don't let your unprofessionalism and apathetic attitude let a $3K tab walk out of the bar! Remember that scene in "Trainspotting" when Mark Renten runs into the pub and then goes into "The Worst Toilet in Scotland"? Yeah, that's the toilet situation at The Dubliner. It doesn't detract from the rating I gave The Dubliner though, and actually, I think the toilet situation at The Dub adds to the pub's overall ambiance and appeal. The Dubliner is an Irish pub. In the fashion of a typical Irish pub, the interior is made of dark wood, the lights are dim, it's smoky, and its walls contain the tattooed, the pierced, and a smattering of foreigners. The Dubliner is a little rough around the edges and it likes it that way. The single toilet per bathroom and the 2 inches of pond scum on the men's bathroom floor are not only appropriate for an Irish pub, but it also serves to keep out the pretentious. It's like those bathrooms put up a force field, or cloak The Dubliner in invisibility, so that douche-bags and gold-diggers cannot get into the pub. I hope they never add on toilets or get good plumbing. Those toilets are here to protect us. The Dubliner has a fabulous selection of beer and single malt whiskey, and the food is pretty good too. The Irish aren't known for their cuisine, but it's good grub at The Dub. The cheese board is scrumptious, as is the veggie sandwich and the Rueben. This is also a good place to get adventurous with your booze: try the Czechvar from the Czech Republic, the Dry Blackthorn Cider, or get a wee dram of The Taliskar and experience the smoky, peaty, taste of the Scottish Islands. You could always have an Irish whiskey instead, but I guarantee that stuff is accountable for 75% of the vomit in the men's room. If you are overwhelmed by the selections of booze, ask the bartenders to help you pick something. They are not only knowledgeable about their hooch, but they are friendly as well. The Dubliner shows Football (soccer) games from The UEFA Cup and The World Cup, and they show Celtic games from the Scottish Premier League and some of the English Premiere League's games. This is one of the better venues to watch soccer/football in, as the foreigners there will chant and get drunk and cuss at the players on TV. They make the experience all the more fun. read more

When I explained that I am not really a beer kind of girl, our waitress told me about all of the ciders in detail, and her recommendation of the Woodchuck Cider was spot on. Nice.... The crowd is eclectic (at least it was the nights I was there) and it was not too crowded. There were some great (and fondly obscure) tunes playing, and the music was set at a nice volume - guy friend and I did not have to shout out a conversation. Horrible experience. My friends and I went here on St. Patricks day assuming we'd have a great time. While we were there a sloppy drunk guy continually tried to press himself onto the girls I was with. I asked him to leave us alone as we wanted to have fun and he got in my face but then walked away. Turns out the drunk man was the owner, Peter Kenny, who proceeded to have me thrown out by the bouncers and the owner himself sucker punched me as the bouncer pushed me out. When I asked the bouncers who stood at the door if this was common they shrugged and said, "Well he's the owner..." The Dubliner has been one of the few consistent social elements of my life in the 6 years that I've lived in Dallas. Through all the changes in Dallas' night life (or my own) they've remained a fiercely local Irish Pub. The staff has always been passionate about the bar and the people they serve. The crowd has always been just as passionate: a diverse mix of anglophiles, hipsters, UK expats, SMU spillover, and fans of a good footy match.(this should be your Premiere League headquarters) Over the 6 years I've been visiting The Dub, I've seen several guys go from barback to manager and you really get a sense of a family/welcoming environment. I don't have to go every week to get the same friendly service and occasional discount on beverages. All I have to be is myself. If my weekend night is a snooze, I know I can show up at the Dubliner an hour or so before close and finish out with a solid conversation with solid people. Sunday afternoon is the best time to see Dallas' scooter and vintage bike scene in full effect. It's a wonderful contrast with the harley/chopper dudes across the street at Blue Goose. The patio is definitely a destination. From your classic PBR to seasonal beverages, like warm Irish coffees & mulled wines, to summer brews and Irish Whiskeys; the drink selection is perfect for any taste or occasion. The music is always a killer mix of cutting edge/classic brit pop, reggae, soul, new wave, punk, and good old rock n' roll. This isn't your Top 40 bar. If the iTunes isn't kicking out tunes, you can bet a DJ is spinning his favorite of the above genres. Don't be surprised if half of the bar starts singing along to a tune like "Common People" by Pulp or some West Ham chant while sloshing drinks. Also don't be suprised if some Irish bastard tries to steal your hot girlfriend while you're in the head. It's the Dubliners fault that I now ride a Vespa. Sure, sure the seeds were always there, but do yourself a favor and visit on a Sunday afternoon and try to get out of there without wanting to hop on one of the dozen or so scooters that accumulate in the wonderfully blocked-off front parking lot like tumbleweeds on a barbed-wire fence in an old John Wayne movie. For this alone, "the Dub" earns it's five stars. I haven't even gotten to the drink selection, the menu or the incredible staff! I can always count on a nice pint of Smithwicks every time I walk through the door, and nomming on one of their BLT's before one of the many major footie matches I've watched there is one of the definite highlights of the experience. Sure, their ploy is pure evil: someone orders a BLT (or their incredible baked potato) and next thing you know, the bar is wafting with the marvelous aroma of bacon. It's very very hard to resist. For the past 8 years, I have spent Christmas night there sipping my favorite whiskey (knappogue castle, in case you were wondering), and enjoying some good times with friends. Dubliner has a great selection of beer on tap and wonderful people watching. When we were there this past Christmas, they must have been playing someones iPod, because we heard everything from obscure 80s New Wave to modern hip hop. Lots of fun! It's not a bad bar. I've been here a few times. The Irish staples are there, it's clean, you have an intimate patio, and plenty of different seating. My only issue is the staff needs to work on their communication. I got double charged because one person wasn't talking to the other. I questioned it, and was promptly told "No, you're wrong...." Me and my friend were here for the weekend (we're from California) and while driving around Greenville ave. we decide to stop by Dubliner since it was St. Patty's weekend and the pub looked cool and the patio seemed like an awesome place to people watch. However, when my friend went to the restroom, the patrons were starring at him while heading toward that direction, he said "if looks could kill" For my experience, while standing at the bar waiting to order a drink (BTW ,there were no lines at the bar) it was about 10 minutes now and I'm still patiently waiting - there were two bartenders talking to the patrons and I'm being ignored, no eye contact whatsoever, then a guy stands besides me and a second later the bartender asks him if he wants a drink, WTF, I've been there past 10 minutes, money in hand and he asks the guy beside me who just got there. I usually don't want to think of it as a race issue but in this case my friend and I were the only non white patrons of the facility, so sad, because it seemed like a nice pub. So we ended up going across the street at the Blue Goose restaurant where we were treated with a smile and they were playing 80's music. read more

What luck. We captured a parking space right in front of this bar this Sunday afternoon. Wooo Hooo !!! Nice bar, very comfy, cozy, very friendly bartenders at our arrival just at opening time at 1300. We were the first ones there, but as the afternoon wore on, several others wandered in. BF and I had a Stella and a Harp, followed by a super spicy, delish Bloody Mary, My, my, very yummy and tasty. But, I am such an easy person to please with great service and lots of attention !! Yep, loved the atmosphere, the comfy bar chairs and the semi-quiet sound, with some not too loud music in the background. Another hot spot on Greenville Avenue, one of my favorite areas, quite out of my 'hood; but that's a good thing. I must venture out of my comfort zone more often. I've been telling my loser friends that fanny packs are back in-style. And after our visit to the Dubliner last nite, I could see it start to sink in when a table full of cute tattoo'd twenty-somethings with beards got up and strapped their fanny packs on and rode away on their bicycles. I'm assuming they live in Denton- what a trek! I don't know who does the scheduling at the Dubliner, but there were two bartenders dramatically different in height. This caused some turmoil in my head-- maybe its because I watched that movie,Temple Grandin, the other nite--. So I start off with the really tall bartender...but of course couldn't stop staring at the really short one...I forgot what beers I was supposed to get for my friends...why is the tiny bartender wearing such a huge shirt?? ... ... ... ... I pulled it together. Decided to give myself a russian accent and asked the tall guy for a recommendation. Later I forgot I was using a russian accent and switched to spanish. crap. But that was to the little guy, no harm. -The beer was horrible- it was the featured beer. Looks like cloudy piss. Don't order it. Mothership Wit, I think it was? But it was my fault for forgetting. We switched to Kronenberg and 9 hours later were happy campers.
