I just went to the dubliner for the first time today. I loved the atmosphere. A typical looking Irish pub, but much nicer on the inside than on the outside. The bartenders were attentive and friendly, there was a TV playing a sports game, and a dartboard in the back. The hot drinks are my favorite so far. I love the Dubliner. It was great as the Tipperary before they moved to bigger quarters. What else could be in this space? (Well, according to one drunk, a parking lot. When you want a tasty import or a real Guinness, this is the place to go. My only complaint is that it is often so popular that seating can be hard to find. But if the weather is hot and you're in the area, it is hard to go wrong by stopping by for a cold one. Nice cozy atmosphere as well. Oh, Dub. How I want to give you just one more little star, but alas...I remember this bar back when I was in college (a loooooong time ago) and it was such a different scene. Now, don't get me wrong. It's still a fantastic place to grab a pint, but I do miss the good ole Dub days. There was certainly more of an "Irish Pub" feel back in the day. In fact, it was my Irish friend that got me hooked on this place. With a management change, it's become a bit more alternative, though the crowd is usually a mixed bag and you will still notice a sprinkling of Irish, English, Scottish and more. And many of them have been coming to this place nearly as long as it's been around. In fact, they just celebrated 16 years! While I may miss the old days of the Dub (or perhaps just the memories associated with it) I still think this bar is a great, chill place with a great patio and friendly crowd. The bartenders are on top of things and rarely do you have to wait for a drink. And you can be sure to witness some rowdy times and a drunk crowd! And for those bike lovers, there's always a great selection of motorcycles to ogle parked right out front. read more

Great Carlsberg beer here! We made a special point to visit this pub while in Dallas. It was published on the Thrillest 21 Best Irish Pubs and they had my favorite beer. We sat at the bar and ordered Carlsberg. The bartender was friendly and took great care of us. I explained that Carlsberg was my favorite beer and you can't find it in Tennessee where I live. His favorite beer was Yuengling and can't be found in Texas. I told him I would bring him some on my next visit. We liked this place so much we bought the t-shirt. read more

I was robbed in the parking lot of this place right behind the building. Owner and bartender came out and harassed me about waiting there for police, said "I was freaking people out", and kept asking me where I was from and communicated that this was no big deal, "it happens".... I want to give this place some props. St Patty's Day can be a mess for everyone. Drunk and sloppy bar patrons are not usually your fave if you are a bar owner (don't always pay, tip, throw up etc etc etc), but the Dubliner went out of their way it seemed to make sure there were plenty of tables out, friendly bartenders at every bar and every beer served to me was nice and cool. For a 32 yr. old Dallasite that had never been to the parade (I know I know... shame on me), you guys did an excellent job making me feel welcome and getting me feelin' good about this new experience. I love walking into a real Irish pub. Soemthing about this place totally relaxes you. Just sip on some beers and enjoy your time with your company. The Dub is one of my favorite places to go on weekends, and especially Sundays. They have a fantastic patio with a great view of Greenville that makes for some great people-watching. On Sundays, you can go and there will be vintage motorcycles and scooters for you to gawk at, too. The drinks here are plentiful, with a decent variety of beers. If you are a Bloody Mary fan, I hear that Tara makes the absolute best! They also have tasty baked potatoes and sandwiches, too. Parking is not easy, so be on the lookout for that. The Dubliner is a great example of what I consider a neighborhood bar. You get a feel that the people who work there have a relationship with the regulars. Sometimes this can be intimidating for a newcomer but don't let that stop you come stepping up to the bar and getting a drink. This is not huge spot but they make good use of their space. I appreciate that their draught beer selection includes some local rotators and they have a healthy Scotch and Irish (of course) whisk(e)y selection. It's of course a full bar, but one of those 3 options are usually what I end up with in my glass. There is a food menu but that's not the focus here. It's a bar, not a restaurant so you should prepare yourself for a smaller menu if you're here to eat. As far as the layout, there's a nice patio in the front. Inside you have the bar on one side and then tables around on the other. It's a pub kind of feel and so it's a place to sit with friends and talk, watch a game or even just hang out reading a paper or a book. That's not to say it can't get loud but it's the laughing and telling jokes kind of loud and not the thumpa thumpa club kind of loud. So if you're looking for a more neighborhood pub kind of spot, I think you'll enjoy this place. In my experience, the people here are friendly and are quick to take care of you. Nice local hangout. Fast service (not always the most pleasant, but polite and quick), decent prices,and overall a relaxing atmosphere -except on St. Patty's weekend. Holds up to a true Irish pub feel. Those complaining how cramped it is should go pub crawling in Dublin as this is comparatively spacious! Traveling for work, this place came recommended, although I'm not sure why. Typical Irish offerings, minus the jolly atmosphere and was in need of a major makeover. Cozy place to have a nice drink. I came here right after I got out of jail a few years back, the bar was near where I had got arrested the night before for a DWI. Anyways my ex and I had a nice stout beer and some good white wine. I heard they had a car crash into it a few months ago. I came into this bar with my friends recently around 1:30 am on a Friday night because we wanted a few Guinness'. I just want to start off by saying that I hardly ever write negative Yelp reviews because I'm more or less very easy to please. Also- disclaimer, The Dubliner is receiving 2 stars from me solely based on an absolutely horrifying interaction my friends and I had with the bartender. I would have given 1 star for this reason alone, but my experience at the bar besides the interaction was okay- so 2 stars. When we walked in, my friend asked the bartender for a Guinness, and the bartender began helping him. My boyfriend and I were standing a few feet over, and the bartender (unclearly to me) asked in he could get us anything. I thought he said "can I get you anything man?" and because I am not a man and never have been, I did not respond but my boyfriend replied "no". But I wanted a drink, so maybe 30 seconds later I asked the bartender if they offered a certain drink. He replied "oh so now you want something?" in what was certainly the rudest tone I've ever been spoken to from someone in the service industry. I just want it to be clear that he didn't ask us more than once if we wanted anything the first time. So his attitude was entirely uncalled for. My friend (who was still waiting on his Guinness) also noticed his horrible attitude and caustically asked the bartender "it's not very busy in here tonight is it?" and the bartender yelled (yes, yelled) in a sarcastic voice "OH YEAH ITS SUPER BUSY CAN'T YOU TELL?!". My friend, who continued conversation with him learned that he had been working at this bar "for a long time". I have worked as a server and I can't imagine addressing any customer the way he addressed myself and my boyfriend. I ended up asking another employee what that bartender's name was and he told me "Beanie" (maybe Vinny? based on some other reviews I saw for this bar). I have no idea if that's the correct name or why anyone would name their child that/allow that as a nickname. One thing I am sure of is that I will never come back to this bar as long as "Beanie" is working. It's sad because I enjoyed the atmosphere of the bar and would have enjoyed my experience otherwise. read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed the Dubliner yet! I love the Irish pubs, and this one is the best one in Dallas. Small, smoky, lots of beer, full bar, slightly smartaleck foreign bartender, and lots of fun drunk people. There are a lot of Irish/English/Scottish/etc people that hang out there because they show all the soccer games...soooo if you are looking to hang out with foreign boys, they have them. Every time I go here things get wild! On St. Patricks day you can forgetabout getting in here, but they have stands set up outside so you can drink on the street. The biggest downfall is the one seater bathroom, if it is packed you are going to wait a LOOOOONG time. read more

A little surprised at the good reviews here. This place is a far cry from its heyday several years ago. I cannot bring myself to step foot in there anymore. Some years ago there was a great staff complete with a very professional Irish manager and other foreign/Brit bartenders who added to the Irish pub feel. There was a really good crowd of regulars of varying ages and it was just a fun place to be (and yes, even at that point the bathrooms were still funked up). This is now less of an Irish pub and more of a dive bar. The place always seems filled with druggies and a kinda rough crowd (although occasionally you get SMU kids) . The menu is okay and there was a good waitress I had last week, but the bartenders are not that great. The workers are kinda rough around the edges. I think that will be my final stop there. Oh well, I can always go to other places............... Come here for a dive, go somewhere else for an Irish pub. read more

Always thought this place was a divey beer joint, but I am now a believer in The Dubliners greatness. The only downside is you have to order from the bar, there is no wait staff to come to the limited tables and couch areas. My boyfriend and I are obsessed with cheeseboards, we go to places that have cheeseboards and this is one of our new faves. The bartenders weren't too knowledgable about the cheeses on there as I had to ask two of them what the varieties were. We were pleased to know it was a marble cheese and a brie. We chose prosciutto to go with our cheeses and were amazed by what showed up. We got a beautiful board with crackers, the for-said cheeses and meat, tons of those baby wrinkly pickles, a huge bowl of olives, grapes, cucumber and the most amazing buttered bread. There were endless combinations and the flavors were all so freaking good. I only wish they had more cheeses to serve. At 16 bucks this is a very reasonable priced cheeseboard in the world of cheeseboards. I had a cocktail which was very strong and pleasant. It was a tad hot in the bar but that amazing cheeseboard and fun games made up for any of the petty things that we didn't just love. read more

This is the first bar we experienced in Dallas. My hubby and I walked in excited for a night away from the kids, and to check out this new city we live in. The menu wasn't real impressive, but that's ok because it's a bar. My husband asked the bartender what was good, and he replied with "I don't know you". Ummm ok.... We're just trying to pick a sandwich dude. The place was pretty dead, but it was early. The bartenders really acted put out, but one of the guys did warm up to us after we ordered a drink. It was our only drink. We ended up at The Libertine which was awesome drinks and food. We won't be visiting The Dubliner again. There's a lot of other choices out there. read more

Ok its been a while since i went to the Dubliner on Greenville Ave. I gotta say for a British guy visiting an Irish pub this was excruciating. Victoria Secrets Show blasting out on the TV and Sound system, lady behind the bar literally stood talking to her colleague next to me for 10 min while i sat there with an empty glass. This happened three times as she was more interested in texting than serving guests. There was nothing Irish about this pub apart from its name. Get some Irish charm, Get some Irish hospitality and for the lovenof god....get bar person that serves more than 3 drinks every 10 minutes! #frustrated I have just bought a house 5 min away from here and will give it another chance at being the local pub....not a good return visit. read more

I have been here a couple times and This place is pretty cool! It's an irish pub and not too big inside but the patio on lower Greenville makes up for it. They've got darts and It's really laid back which makes it a good daytime or sunday funday bar! If you're lookin for a place to just chill out on Greenville this is it! Excellent beer and cheese selection. Great staff that will make you laugh. Best bar on Greenville (tied with Libertine) I'd love to see a better bar menu, but I just never go in hungry. They did let me bring in crawfish from across the street once. Darts are nestled back by the bathrooms in a cute little area that is great for a large group of friends. I love fireplaces in pubs as well. The staff are excellent at remembering your face and what you drink. Sunday afternoons the front lot is swarming with Vespa's. It's an awesome sight!!!
