We've been loyal regulars at Cannons for about 3 years, coming in at least once a week. It's always been one of our go-to spots, largely because of the incredible bartenders--Tammy, Sam, and the rest of the staff are truly the best and a huge reason we kept coming back. Unfortunately, the experience has taken a noticeable downturn under the new manager, Charles. We recently brought a group of friends to watch the World Cup and had a table for six. When one friend left and another arrived to take their place, Charles refused to let our friend in, claiming they were at capacity (see photo). Meanwhile, he allowed a completely separate group of six to walk right in without hesitation during the same time window. When one of our friends tried to calmly explain that our group size wasn't increasing--we were simply swapping one person out--his immediate reaction was to threaten to kick out our entire group. It wasn't even a conversation. We weren't sure if he realized we were all together (and regulars), so I also tried to explain the situation myself. Instead of listening, he doubled down and again said he could have all of us removed. Even more frustrating--the bar was not crowded. There were clearly empty tables, open barstools, and even a table for six sitting with only two people. His decisions on who could come and go felt completely arbitrary and selective, with no explanation or consistency. To make matters worse, this all happened in front of our friends--people we had specifically brought here because we've raved about Cannons for years. It was honestly embarrassing to have talked this place up so much, only to have them witness that kind of treatment firsthand. This wasn't an isolated incident. On a previous visit, Charles told us he couldn't refill our water at the bar because it "wasn't his job"--something that has never been an issue before and frankly makes no sense from a hospitality standpoint. During the World Cup situation, he also told us he didn't care if we never came back. After years of being consistent, respectful, and frequent customers, this is not the level of treatment we expect. It's disappointing to see such a stark decline in service, especially when the issue is clearly coming from management--not the staff we've always appreciated. It's honestly not surprising that the bar Charles previously managed down the street shut down. Tammy and Sam continue to be fantastic, but one person in a leadership role can completely change the experience--and not in a good way. We love Cannons, but until there's a change in management, we won't be returning. Thankfully, the new Old Monk opened a block away. To the leadership of Cannons--please let us know when Charles is gone. read more

No less than four men served us: it was funny and I don't know why we got so much attention. The egg nog flight is delicious! The Oh My Cod taco was so good!! The lemon pepper boneless wings needed to be crispier or just crispy, they tasted very good. I ordered the mussels and was disappointed. It was like a chowder with mussels. It's only three minutes from our house, and after this experience, we'll definitely be regulars. The bartenders were friendly and approachable, setting a great vibe right from the start. We started with the duck wings, and they were absolutely delicious. For our main course, we both went with the fish and chips from the late-night menu, and let me tell you--the portions were huge! I came here after seeing the a friend post the egg nog flight and knew I needed to try it. I came during lunch time (don't judge me, it's 5 o'clock somewhere) and was surprised that they have lunch specials however I was informed that they were out of the mix however was expecting more later in the day. I called later in the day to confirm they had it before going back and we informed they indeed had it. I arrived at the restaurant and was told to sit anywhere I would like. I took a seat and waited for some time before someone finally came to the table. I placed my order for the flight as well as the cod taco and the boneless wings. I was told that the wings weren't too spicy however upon biting into it, it was entirely too spicy for me. The egg nog flight was okay but I can't say that I would order it again. However the cod taco was absolutely delicious and had me wanting to go back the next day for another one. This is a cute pub that would make a great hang out spot. We came here for the first time this evening. We ordered the fried cabbage rolls and the monte cristo. Both were fabulous. The atmosphere is amazing. The staff is great with suggestions. The chef, José, came out to check on us and ask how everything was. He let us know what the special desserts were. He explained the process of making the food and desserts are. Came here for of course, st paddy's day and can't believe i didn't know this place was so close to me. They had a DJ when you entered and a large selection of beers, Irish and from other locations. Phenomenal Irish pub with great eats and one of the best happiest hours you'll find in the DFW Metroplex. The staff is very friendly, attentive, and helpful; and you can expect the regulars to be the same. This is a great go to spot for lunch, dinner, or if you merely want to grab a few drinks during happy hour or later at night. They also have a great setup to watch some sports in the area. This new Irish Pub in the Oak Cliff area is legit!!! It's right off of Davis St. close to Edgefield Ave., which is a perfect location for us. So if I ever have that fish and chips craving, I know where I can get it, which is what I got yesterday evening. I found them on Yelp and just about everything else was closed that I wanted, so I gave them a shot and let me tell you, it was worth it. The fish pieces are very meaty and not overly greasy. You get three pieces per order. I did not have any drinks since it was a take out order, but we will definitely be back to have some drinks, because this Irish bar is serious with their Irish drinks so I have to come strong. Went in today for lunch. I had the the breakfast sandwich and my boyfriend had the fish chips with the perk of getting one for free. My boyfriend ate his there and we took the other one home. A couple hours later we decided to reheat the other portions only to find plastic or some type of paper wrapped in around the fish once you pulled back the fried.
