We had a great afternoon at the White Rock Brewing. We came for the Tales on Tap Book Fair event they were having here and we were glad we came, as we might have otherwise never learned about this place. It is a beautiful brewery, with amazing brick walls and concrete floors that give the place a bit of an old time industrial feel. The staff here is really upbeat and friendly, and really work hard to make your visit a good one. The menu here is a simple one. One that makes me think about when I watch a Gordon Ramsey show and he tells restauranteurs the are trying to do too much and to simplify their menu. This menu is simple...Cheese Pizza, Pepperoni Pizza, Chicken Fingers with Fries, Chicken Wings, or Caesar Salad. There is no criticizing these guys for over-complicating things, lol! We ordered Chicken Fingers and a Pepperoni Pizza. Both were better than I anticipated and way beyond the "bar food" stigma so many of these types of places have. Parking is a bit confusing. There are very limited spots in front of the brewery. It appears you can park across the street in the apartment parking garage (in the retail spots) but I was nervous because of all of the towing signs. *if you've ever had your car towed... you know* Lots of beer options. From the outside, it's easy to miss: no hype, no pretense, just a welcoming spot tucked away. But the moment we walked in, I felt something I hadn't felt in years -- this is Austin the way it used to be. Friendly faces, a mix of every kind of person, laughter carrying across the indoor/outdoor space. There's an easy rhythm here; you can wander between the open air and the cozy taproom and feel like you belong either way. The beer list is broad -- plenty of craft choices without the snobbery -- and they even have a full bar if someone in your group isn't a beer drinker. We grabbed a flight to explore, and every pour was thoughtful and fresh. What really stuck with me, though, was the vibe: unpretentious, creative, and alive. Watching Robin sing under the warm lights while strangers clapped along felt like Austin 20 years ago -- authentic and welcoming without trying to be cool. Very good brewery with a very solid kitchen, and great happy hour offerings daily. Don't let the dark appearance from the outside fool you, they are open daily until 10pm. We came in later in the night so the bartender and a couple people in the kitchen were holding down the fort. Even with the skeleton crew, service was very prompt and all of our food was fresh. We ordered a Texas Heat pizza and the wings (half jerk, half lemon pepper). The Texas heat was great and gets bonus points for using fresh jalapeño. The wings were delicious I liked both the jerk sauce and the lemon pepper seasoning. Honestly my only complaint is that. They don't currently refill or offer growlers. read more

Came here today with my partners young daughter and had a great experience. We were warmly welcomed and they were putting up octoberfest decorations that we loved. We both got pizza and some French fries, which were very good, but I was most impressed by how kind and friendly our server was. Unfortunately I do not remember his name, but he was very engaging with my partners daughter and it made her day. This is a large and spacious brewery. There are indoor, covered outdoor, and sun bathing outdoor seating. Dog drinking bowls are provided. I ordered the blueberry martini but I didn't get a blueberry and that's okay. There is a heavy duty beverage cooler with cups placed outside for self serve water. I would only really recommend this place if you are looking for a nice space to have beer with friends. The food wasn't too impressive. We actually ordered the "best seller" appetizer which was the ahi tuna nachos and were EXTREMELY disappointed. $14 for 6 chips. Not even kidding. Not only that but their hand was heavy when dressing them with their wasabi aioli. It was SO overpowering that it just made the whole thing taste bad. We had to scrape it off our wonton chips because it was just so overwhelming. So if I couldn't trust their so called "best seller" in their apps, I definitely didn't want to venture into their other food. We popped in yesterday afternoon for the first time. From what I could tell there were two people working the front of the house. A girl standing near the door and the bartender. The girl told us it was open seating, so as we made our way to an open table, we saw a sign that said order here, which I guess isn't where you order, when we went up to order the bartender said he'd be right over to the table to take our order. He came. He wasn't overly friendly or overly unfriendly. The menu provided has several items blacked out, which happen to the items I probably would have ordered, such is life. Instead I ordered the queso with no jalapeños or poblanos. A few minutes later he came back and said it wasn't possible to remove the jalapeños or poblanos, so we ordered the tater kegs instead. The tater kegs were really good, just not exactly what we wanted, but they were tasty. Once the bartender dropped off our food, he didn't come back to ask how it was or if we wanted more beer. He was waiting on all the tables, so it is what it is, and the girl who was once standing at the front was on the table behind us on her laptop. I am not sure what her role was, but it wasn't to help the bartender apparently. We would have stayed longer and had more drinks, but we left. The building is beautiful, music was good, but we didn't feel very welcome. read more

A large facility with both indoor and outdoor seating serving an array of beers to try as samples (what as I assume from the menu) flights, full Serving & half pour serving. They have ipas, wheat, ciders, sour, lagers & blonds. Besides a serving full bar & refreshments. You will be asked to sit either in or out anywhere we like and you would order all your drinks and food though a QR code on the table. Each table has a code and a table number, make sure to scan again if you change tables or change the number in the app before ordering. Everything is ordered and paid through the QR code & Later a server brings your order. However, our waiter got confused and mixed up the flights and the order it was in the flights ended up drinking ipas, when I only wanted to try ciders. And the further orders we made based on the confusion by the server. The ipas were so pungent and I ended up with a quick buzz. Some of the ipas we ordered had 10% ABV. So make sure to check with your server which one is which if you are ordering different drinks or order one flight at a time. They have small servings of salads, small bites and a full pizza menu. As we were not hunger and did not order any pizza besides a side of bread knots. We loved everything besides the confusion created by our server over the beers and ciders. Reasonably priced drinks. A flight with 4 beers is $8. The staff was super friendly and service was fast. I forgot to mention, they are pet friendly and can come along with your dog and spend a great time. This place is one of my go to places because it's in walking distance for me. So anytime I am hungry I just walk here and grab their tater kegs because they are sooooo good and their wings. Sometimes it could be hit or miss depending on who is cooking them. The pizza is good as well! Their service is always really good and I loveeee their beers. This place has A LOT of potential, but their happy hour isn't the best at all, there's a lot of people in the apartment behind it that would love to pop down for a happy hour drink when the work day is long but it's cheaper to get in the car and drive somewhere. I do think that if they offer better happy hour or brunch specials that this place could easily be a hit in the neighborhood! read more

Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon to check it out since it is new in the neighborhood. My boyfriend and I each got a flight and split the tuna nachos. I was solidly "whelmed." Beer was fine. Food was fine, seemed like something you might find at a knockoff, limited menu BJ's restaurant and brewhouse in the deep suburbs. The ambiance kind of generic, if not a little stern; the patio had at least six or seven "no running or ball throwing" signs, which is understandable but left a distinctly "no fun allowed here" feeling. And due to the integration of the mobile ordering app, we didn't have to speak to a single soul during our entire visit. I'm hopeful that because it's new it will figure out the vibe as time goes on. It delivered on what we were technically looking for, beer and a patio, but for now, it feels a little soulless. read more
