This is one of those spots we randomly ended up at on a Saturday night and definitely do not regret making that decision! Dallasite is kind of a nice dive bar. Relatively clean, cool ambiance, and plenty of random activities. We played shuffle board (they had darts too) and there was karaoke too. The bartenders were friendly and randomly we were able to order food from delivery services as well. I think they have a kitchen but maybe it was closed? A little part of the night is blury since it was way past my bedtime! We posted up in a corner on the right when you walk in and it was perfect for our friends bday celebrations. We ordered some wings and pizza and made it quite a memorable night. Ended up leaving around 2am and it seemed like it may have still been open? All in all a good spot! read more

As a 65-year-old Texan with every form of 10,000 Tex-Mex experiences under my belt (and perhaps hanging over my belt), I can astonishingly report to you that these are the BEST TACOS I HAVE EVER TASTED! Here's what you get: For the low, low price of 8 bucks, you get 3 whopping, large, fresh, hot, soft corn tortillas totally stuffed with smoked pulled-pork brisket that has been further chopped and topped with your choice of traditional Pico de Gallo and/or mango Pico, the freshest, large avocado slices, shredded cheese, with your choice of multiple sauces, including homemade traditional red salsa, chipotle and/or tomatillo sauce. The tacos come in a large basket with sturdy sides for catching all the goody that inevitably drops from these giants. The contents pack together nicely, however, for routine caveman-style gorging. I have never had finger-lickin' good tacos before, but these are. I didn't care who saw me licking my fingers today! Stopped in for a burger and beer at 5:50pm. Was told I would have to wait until 6:00pm for kitchen to open. Shortly after 6pm I asked for a cheeseburger and was told by a not so friendly bartender it would be a 30 min wait as two people had just ordered. This is one of the best dive bars I've ever been to, for a few reasons. They have machines that can dispense endless shots of Fireball and Jager (although I did not imbibe during my visit), but best of all, if you sit outside, you might get a visit from K.P., or as I called him before i knew his name, "bar kitty". The story, as I heard it from some regulars, is that he was a feral stray who made friends with one of the bartenders that would feed him, and gradually got to where he was friendly to the patrons as well. He's very sweet and loves attention these days! As for, well, bar stuff, it's classic dive bar all the way, and that's fine. Seating outside is old but sturdy fiberglass paneled patio furniture, and the draft beers we ordered were cold and delicious (mine was a Sam Adams Winter Lager). We met some friendly folks while playing with K.P. and just, in general, got a nice vibe from the place on a very unseasonably comfortable winter evening. In fairness, I'm sure my experience was enhanced by my company, a wonderful new friend I'd met through some other friends, and we hung out for a long time trading stories, enjoying the beer and atmosphere, and certainly not least, the company of K.P. In my mind if there is a sign that says "Ask About Daily Happy Hour Specials" it implies that there are happy hour specials every day. I follow instructions well and I did just that. On a visit a couple of Saturdays ago, I asked about daily happy hour specials and the barkeep responded in a snarky tone that happy hour specials are only Monday through Friday. Whew sorry, I didn't realize that in the Dallasite alternate universe that "daily" actually means "weekday." So my second mistake was asking what kind of vodka they had. Mr. Barman visibly rolled his eyes and said "Any type you want. We have them all." By this point I'm worried that my evil twin must have recently visited this place and left a bad impression. Maybe she stiffed him on a tip, or maybe she started a bar room brawl. You never can tell what she'll do. I was kind of starting to worry that he was spitting in my drink when I turned my back. And then I really did it. I complained that the tonic in my cocktail was flat, so he begrudgingly remade it and guess what? The tonic was flat again. I've driven by it for years and finally decided to give it a try. Plenty of parking to the side and back. I was a bit over dressed for this place (coming from the office), but all seemed fine with it and the Texas friendlies treated me like I was one of their long lost friends. The prices were great for both bottle beer and shots. The staff was very attentive and friendly. They showed appreciation for me leaning up on their bar. The bar games include darts, pool, and shuffle board. Lots of TVs on the wall tuned to various sporting events of the day. The fried mushrooms were better, but my friend who ordered them couldn't get over the fact that the first one he bit into was ice cold. Love it! After just one mid-week afternoon visit, it is my favorite dive bar in Dallas and it serves my favorite dive bar burger. Miss Rhonda, in her own words, "made it with love, Sugar" (and she cut the burger in half before serving it, which I love) along with some piping hot fries. They have the best patio for rainy days in Dallas. Lots of plastic round picnic tables, side shades you can pull down if the rain gets sideways crazy, and they even have a big outdoor air conditioner (really a huge fan with water tubes that cool the air before it exhausts to the patio). The folks who work at Dallasite are friendly and make you feel at home. They also have a megatouch machine (so you can play erotic photo hunt), which is a plus, as well as pool tables and shuffleboard. Drinks during after work hours were $4.25 for a well, which seems pricey for the area, but I guess you're paying for the covered patio and friendly faces. I hope that's just the standard price and drinks don't get more expensive after 6pm but I'll have to go back to find out. To get to this east Dallas establishment, you will have to make a dip into a "sketchy" block that the meek and lighthearted will do a double take before they get out the car. But for those that look past the neighborhood, you will find a roadhouse type oasis. Don't expect to see valet, VIP or anything that even resembles uptown. This is one stripped down and basic place. You have your choice of shuffleboard, pool tables, and a couple video games to pass the time, if you're the type that can't sit still. For the rest of you professionals, you will have no problem finding a place at the bar or on the patio. This is a friendly crowd that will welcome you and make you feel at home. Prices? Oh, little hole in the wall of Dallas' forgotten area...I appreciate you. Right on the corner of homeless-handouts and sketchy-rendezvous you'll find this rather large pool hall/bar. After feeling like our other dive hangout was being taken over by techno-discotech people, Aaron E. decided to host his post-birthday drink-athon here. Well played, sir...well played. Two pool tables, several other game things I can't remember the names to, jukebox (where the crowd with "boo" anything out of the norm of classic rock and alternative) and serves ready to over pour! There were only two bartenders that night, but the kept the relatively large crowd going with pretty good speed and semi-accuracy. They have a large front patio if you dare (homeless know you're there and are looking for change, smokes and/or general conversation). I was rather impressed with this little Dallas "gem" and need to schedule a return visit for adding more stars. All in all, I would say this is a great hang out to chill and play pool with a drink in hand. read more

This place knows how to do karaoke--that is for sure. You do NOT have to sing well. Hell--you can drunkenly half mummer the lyrics and fall down if you want. Everyone will still cheer like you are the Boss. I attribute that to the DJ, but the bar lends itself to the show. This place feels old. I imagine it's been around since dinosaurs roamed the land. And by dinosaurs I'm referring to the class of '84 that seemed to be having a mini-reunion at the Dallasite last weekend. They were having a blast and taking the bar with them. Good for them. Bartenders are not the fastest, but they get the job done. Drinks are strong enough. And the place is a good size with a nice front patio. I love that the patio has a resident kitty cat. I know what you're thinking--I too had driven by Dallasite for years and would cast uneasy glances over at the seemingly questionable locale while imagining a din of thieves and scuzz regulars skulking about with slack-jaws and gimme caps. And I did what any one of us would do next: I convinced a friend to go there with me and hang out for a while. Boy, were we wrong. Dallasite is total and absolute greatness. I truly believe the front door of the place is a space portal that worm holes you straight into Greater Tuna (look it up). At 4:30 in the afternoon, only a handful of people were there but they were all regulars and friendly as could be. The place is actually bright and clean on the inside (although I can only imagine the horrors of pre-smoking ban Dallasite--*shudder*). On a second visit recently, I asked the lady bartender what I should order to help stave off a cold that I was coming down with. After deciding on a screwdriver (Vitamin C, right?) and receiving it, I noticed her spending focused time on a shot she was making for somebody. After a while, she stepped forward to me and presented ME with the shot--a hot toddy she had made without even being asked! Yes, it was honey, lemon, plenty of stiff bourbon, and was piping hot!! I almost broke into tears over this and thanked her again and again. In a boisterous "Large Marge" manner, she just hollered, "Honey, I'm Rhonda! Been runnin' this place for 40 years! The Dallasite will always have a special place in my heart because THIS is where I was first happily given a chocolate pretzel shot. And actually I haven't had a better version anywhere else. I also assumed this was some sort of front for some sort of debauchery, but after being coaxed by some friends, I went, and have been digging it ever since. It feels colder than most neighborhood dives-- just not as cozy as Cosmos, not as dirty as the Landing. It's not really the type of place for anything more than beer drinking and shot doin'. And sitting and talking and laughing with your friends for hours. It's a great bar to have on the radar and rotation. You should go. And have a chocolate pretzel shot. :) read more

LOL! That's all I have to say. My good friend had been telling me about this place for a while, and though I largely trust her judgement, I've preferred it in a different zip code. A friend and I went to Mai's Vietnamese for dinner and scurried along to Dallasite next door to check it out and have a few drinks. Yes, the word is scurry. As in, dodging bullets. But hey, human duck hunt just adds to the fun of an evening, right? We posted up outside, did a few hail mary's, and settled in for the show. Let's just say this place makes Slip Inn seem pretentious, and Adair's seem quaint. A waitress came out casually after my friend and I had been sitting there for approximately 20-30 minutes. No big deal, this isn't a place to hop in and hop out, it's a place to fall off your bar stool. The drinks we got were sufficiently strong, and as mentioned by previous posters, a good, what I call "medicinal"pour. I hear this Kurt guy is quite the shaman. The people were friendly, the karaoke was hilarious, ( I am going again and taking my stellar performance of Toto "Africa' with me) . . . After settling into our drink, within moments my friend and I were joined by some "local flavor" that was really interesting. This is the type of place that people will approach you, sit down, and talk to you as if you are old friends. In other words, check your bad-ditude at the door, it's not gonna fly here. After trying to convince the "local flavor" as we'll call him, (who was one of the funniest guys to ever invite himself into my evening), to go to open-mic night @ Hyena's, friend and I left thoroughly satisfied. (See the sense of community the Dallasite inspires? Awww!) Most importantly, we left without any holes in our head - neither involuntary NOR self inflicted. Alright, alright, alright. This is an awesome neighborhood bar. I don't live in this neighborhood, but I want to call this bar my own, and if that means packing up and moving to be closer- so be it. This bar is in the minimalist style. As in minimal design, and a fuck-ton of promotional beer items plastered on the walls. This includes a cardboard cut out of the Dos XX man, who became a dance partner for some hot karaoke numbers and (soon to be facebook) profile pictures (not mine, but just calling it like i see it). I know this place is a fan of Tecate, or so I would be led to believe based on the number of posters on the wall. What did I drink? Blue Moon on tap. Awesome! Served in some ice cold glasses with a slice of orange. I like the mish-mash of crowds here. And when we pulled in early in the night, it looked like mostly regulars. Norm and Cliff were sitting at the corner. The ladies behind the bar were keeping busy- chatting and dancing while serving us up. Gotta love a place where the staff have a good time. We went for karaoke Friday. Dan the Karaoke Man (Anyone named Dan should be referred to as some kind of "Dan the _____ Man") kept us happy with an assortment of fun songs, provided back up harmonies, and kept the energy moving. I was nervous when this beloved dive moved locations to a bigger space...could it retain the dirty floors, stained seats, and drunken regulars that made the old location so fabulous? The answer is yes...and no. This newer location is much bigger and the patio is excellent. The inside is still no frills, with plenty of things to entertain you. Shuffleboard, darts, pool, and photo hunt. But be warned, they do not have exotic photo hunt...fail. I will say, however, the 2 things this place has going for them above all else is: 1. the COLDEST beer I have ever had. Truly remarkably cold to the point it almost hurt my hands to hold. But it was like liquid gold in my mouth. (TWSS). 2. Unbelievable assortment of songs for Karaoke. When I looked up Def Leppard, it didn't have just " Pour some sugar on me " ( shudder), but nearly Def's entire catalog, including "Hysteria". I felt hysteria brewing inside me, and the urge to sing was about to take over. I loved how everyone who did have the balls to sing were completely awful, and kudos to the guy who belted out "Pussy Control". Bravo brother, bravo. As noted before, smell is usually a separate category for me when it comes to a dive. Strangely, this place smelled delicious. At first it smelled like yummy smoky barbecue, bc they do in fact serve BBQ on Fridays. At around 11pm, the whole bar was overcome with the intoxicating smell of fresh baked cookies. I was introduced to the Dallasite years ago and have since experienced many enjoyable events, conversations, made new friends (many are like an extended family). The staff is wonderful, hardworking and fun enhancing! I've been told they make the best hamburger in Dallas. I don't eat beef, so I can personally vouch for the chicken sandwich (grilled or battered), chicken strips, the french fries, fried mushrooms, fried pickles and, of course, the variety of COLD beers and mixed drinks and service. Karaoke is for EVERYONE and actually has several really Good to Excellent singers! It's my favorite spontaneous "go to" after meetings and I have celebrated several Mothers' Days there. Rhonda Nail, the owner, is one of the most loving and gracious people I know. It's a place where "everybody knows your name" if you want them to, or will leave you alone, if you are a loner. Is a three-star rating for a dive bar the equivalent of a five-star for a respectable dining establishment? I think so. As dives go, this is and has been one of my favorites in town, especially when I am convinced that I have OD'd on the Uptown crowd (no offense, Uptowners...I am one of you). There are plenty of activities to indulge in, especially if you enjoy the grandness that is Golden Tee Golf and Silverstrike Bowling. They've got those, the BarCrack(r) touchscreen game, pool tables, and shuffleboard. A few seedy electronic slot machines line another wall. I'm sure they are there for entertainment only. Oh yeaaah! I am updating this to my highest star rating because I am in love with the Dallasite. The first time I visited the new locale it was just open and dead. Went there tonight for HH and it wasn't dead, just pleasantly busy. There are a lot of reasons why I am digging it so much now....here's why - The bar had a lot of people over the age of 60 or even 70 sitting at the bar. This gives me hope...hope that when my drunk ass is old I will have a place to go and drink and not be out of place. LOVE IT. Plus have you ever talked to drunk old people at the bar???? Fun! -$2 miller lites -Free wi fi -They now serve food. I had the BLT and while it is not your fancy apple smoked bacon, it IS the BLT you'd have at home like your mom or grandma used to make for you. Hilariously, the cook came out to ask what my friend wanted on her hot link sandwich and I then told him I didn't want mayo on my BLT...he looked at me like I was smoking crack (they might get that a lot due to location hehe). Like what cook comes out to check on your order? PLUS we had the little mini corn dogs....that was fried goodness. -Rhonda (?
