We had our February birthday celebration at Goodwin's this year and it was a huge success. We are a group of older guys and now only 3 of us are still able to make it. We used to have night out with dinner but now we do lunch. We chose this restaurant based on the D magazine article about the best burgers in dallas. Goodwin's burger was rated one of the best and it lived up to their reputation. We had one burger medium rare and one burger medium well and we had one patty melt, along with salad and fries. All were cooked perfectly. Service was a 10 and the ambiance was a 10. Drinks were great and they had every bourbon we asked for. I would definitely return with my spouse to spoil her. read more

It does get extra packed in there, we had reservations for 8pm on a Saturday and every table was booked and the no seats at the bar! Loved the ambiance and vibe of the restaurant. Because of how crowded it is, it does get super loud in there so it was a little hard to have a conversation hahaha But service was good and the food was great and the drinks were delicious! I've been twice - a weekend lunch and a Thursday dinner. It's nice to have an upscale dining option in the neighborhood. Lunch was a bit more chill but dinner definitely is an event - the place is packed and gets loud. Not overwhelming though. Reservations are a must at night. Parking is tough- the valet often has a waiting line. I have parked a block away on the side streets and it worked fine as long as you double check for no parking signs (ha for a date night I'm gonna use valet). Service has been professional and very efficient and friendly both times. They seem to have good systems in place. Food: I feel it's really solid and I haven't encountered anything I didn't enjoy. On the flip side I wasn't completely blown away either. I really liked everything it's just that it doesn't quite achieve 5 star ratings for me considering price point. Cheese beignets are light and flavorful. Tuna tartare cones are pretty nice. Pork chop and chicken were good entrees. I had a sandwich or maybe a burger at lunch and enjoyed it. I'll go back and I'd also love to get a drink in the bar behind the restaurant near the restroom entrance: it's looks interesting - it's just it'll have to be the right time when I want to deal with the parking questions. read more

Goodwin's seems to be popping all the time so I definitely recommend making reservations! Parking is super tricky in this area if you don't want to pay for valet so make some time to find a spot. Bread and butter were delicious! The pasta had a pretty healthy feel to it but tasted good. Caesar salad was standard so I'd probably try something else instead. This was a really good meal. Started with the frozen cosmo and fried zucchini, both of which were fantastic. The salmon entree was also good. However, the real star of the show was the crunch cake. Coated in chocolate and absolutely delicious! The cosmo and cake were also pretty well priced given the overall prices on the menu. Service was great and the atmosphere is very nice. We love Goodwins. It has become our new go to restaurant on Greenville. Classic American food with a number of unique menu items. They also have a great bar, and it is fun to sit there for a meal. The bartenders are always super friendly. We have always had great service, and the servers know the menu well. The food is reliably hot and expertly prepared. The meals have significant plate appeal. We have tried both the steaks and the seafood. The Seabass is exceptional served on a bed of white beans. Saturday night and this place was busy - as expected. We arrived around 6:15pm and were seated in less than 20min. We had the wonderful Ellen as our waitress and she was delightful. She had such a joyful demeanor and she made our experience extra great. Started with an old fashioned for him and unsweet iced tea for me as well the focaccia bread, which SURPRISE is dairy free! Even the herb butter is dairy free, but it tasted like absolutely real butter. For my main I got the La Vista Club, & being df = no cheese & sub a vinaigrette for the green goddess dressing. I would rate my experience a 7/10. The atmosphere was too loud. The food was mid... there wasn't a lot of flavor in both the main dishes without sauce. The ribs were amazing!! And honestly this place is one of those places that have better appetizers than they do main dishes!! For $140 and no drinks outside of water I wouldn't necessarily recommend for a date night!! I absolutely loved the vibe of this restaurant. It has so much charm. I came here for a girls dinner, and we had such a good time. Have been here a couple of times and all were very satisfying. A cool neighborhood hangout. Deep rich wood and leather type of vibe. Good service. Always packed, so get reservations. Great cocktail menu. Great starters. We tried the spicy tuna cones starters and were not impressed and would suggest an alternate, like roasted beets, which were very good. Short rib and halibut were both very good. Would not hesitate suggesting those to anyone. Both were full of flavor, great presentation and more than enough to fill us up and/or left overs. Love the prices of the cocktails and love the variety of appetizers. The inside of the restaurant is very beautiful, moody with brass light fixtures, not too dark. We had a rly friendly server as well (Jared!). Bonus: there is a bar in the back of the restaurant that is perfect for an after dinner drink! To start, we shared the party dip and the tuna cones. Love the presentation of the tuna cones but not practical - hard to get the perfect bite with the avocado at the bottom of the cone. The Nancy's party dip is delicious - it tastes exactly like spicy htipiti! For our main course, we tried the halibut entree, Mac n cheese side, and Bibb stack salad. It was most certainly a good win for us Saturday night. My GOODness, they know how to do it here. Good till the last drop of cheesy beignet- pure bliss, satin silk in your mouth. This is a nice spot. There are 3 very distinct eating areas. There is a dimly lit dining room then you have the bright lively bar area then you have the patio seating. I chose a booth in the bar area. The service was friendly attentive and in sync. My empty plates were promptly removed from table as soon as I finished. I was asked at the appropriate times was I ready for the next course or would I like another course. And they gave great recs. Started with a really nice aperol spritz. Followed by cheese beignets. The coating was thin and crispy. The inside was a really nice creamy cheese served with a side of warm cheese. The tuna cones were a nice surprise. There were 3 layers of flavors that went together well. Spicy then creamy then smooth avocado to round it out. The lil rippers were mini kobe sausage dogs. Heavy for an app but tasty. The cheese beignets were literally to die for, we knew they'd taste good but they beat our high expectations. The frozen cosmo was also a great drink. Small sausages with some caramelized onions on small garlic buns meant to resemble Chicago hot dogs. I wouldn't get them again but they were fun to try. Being diabetic I didn't eat the bun. The tuna cones were fantastic. You get four and each was delicate and tasty tuna. Must have if you like tuna. For my main I chose the bone-in pork chop cooked medium with carrots instead of the mashed potatoes. Excellent choice. The pork chop is sliced and topped with vinegared peppers. Add the carrots and it was such an amazing taste combination. I highly recommend!! For drinks the old fashioned was remarkable. Just a bit sweet. Maybe left-hand drink is made with knob creek rye and Campari and a splash of sweet vermouth but super tasty drink. This one was my favorite. The service was outstanding.
