Ended up here after a longgg walk on Katy Trail with my three dogs. I was looking for a dog-friendly spot to grab a drink and relax, and Knox Bistro's covered patio was exactly what I needed. Arrived pretty late, so the kitchen and dessert service had already closed. I was really hoping to try the sticky toffee cake but that'll have to wait until next time. Instead, I tried the Hibiscus Paloma mocktail with grapefruit, lime, and Topo Chico, which was incredibly refreshing after being outside. The Garden soirée was also excellent and refreshing. The NBA game was on, and the whole place was really into it (including the staff) which made for a fun atmosphere. I've had many wonderful meals at Knox Bistro, so my boyfriend and I were really looking forward to a delicious, relaxing evening. The night started beautifully--we enjoyed espresso martinis at the bar and were then seated at one of our favorite tables. We ordered a bottle of wine and caviar and were settling in to plan the rest of our meal when the experience took a turn. A tween/teen birthday party was seated in the private room. At first, we assumed the noise was just initial excitement and would settle after a few minutes. The parents of the birthday girl were seated nearby, and when the mother got up, we expected she might ask the girls to lower their volume. Unfortunately, the opposite happened--she brought the group out into the main dining room for photos, where the noise level became even more disruptive. Another couple seated near us--at what is typically a very desirable table--lasted no more than five minutes before asking to be moved outside. Shortly after, a manager approached the private room. We anticipated they would address the noise, but instead, they greeted the party warmly and thanked them for being there, without making any effort to manage the disruption. After so many consistently great experiences, it was honestly shocking. We truly felt as though we were being punked. My boyfriend and I both have children and enjoy bringing them to nice restaurants, but part of that experience includes ensuring they understand and respect the environment. When that standard isn't upheld--especially with no support from management--it significantly detracts from the experience for everyone else. read more

Nice ambiance when you arrive and pleasant staff. Only issue with the place itself was that the music was too loud, but it was brunch time so I understand. When it comes to food, it was good. The benedict had a great biscuit with it and the hollandaise was solid, but the salmon made it a bit too salty for me. Also the side salad was just covered in more salt which was a bit overwhelming. Overall it was good, but I just found it too salty. The chicken and waffles however were great! The gravy and chili sauce blended well and the chicken was crispy. Only issues were that it was lukewarm/not hot and that it was even better with a side of syrup! I believe that Knox bistro has a lot to offer from appetizers, drinks, and more, so we will have to come back again during lunch or dinner. read more

Cute little French bistro with a warm, casual vibe. I've been here many times for brunch and lunch, but this was my first visit for dinner. Our server was bubbly, friendly, and full of great recommendations. We started with the charcuterie board, followed by the escargot, and then the foie gras. The foie gras was the standout--unexpectedly silky, creamy, and buttery, paired perfectly with fig marmalade. I practically licked the board clean. For my entrée, I ordered the grilled halibut, which was tender and flaky with great flavor, served over crisp greens and potatoes. Everything worked beautifully together. Ok ... this restaurant was a solid ten! Why, because they allowed us to rent out the "entire restaurant " right before New Year's Eve", for a very special event. We have been intending to try Knox Bistro for a couple of years. I had in my head that it was a traditional French bistro (more like its sister concept La Bilboquet), but it is not, or not exactly. This place is special, and should be on everyone's Special Occasion Restaurant list. Knox Bistro offers upscale, high-quality, authentic French cuisine and superb service that rivals the best in Dallas. Everything we had was first class, from the complementary bread and butter, to the best simple salad I've had in years, through unique takes on traditional (and not so traditional) entrees and outstanding desserts. French cuisine is all about the sauce, a principal Knox Bistro demonstrates exceptionally well. Our group of five enjoyed the salmon, skate wing, pork chop, and filet entrees, as well as a special that was ground pork and beef and spinach in a puff pastry. Every main was accompanied by an expertly designed, perfectly paired sauce...creamy sorrel sauce with the salmon, brown butter/lemon with the skate wing, a perfect green peppercorn with the filet, and a distinctive mustard sauce with the pork chop. And don't think the sides were an afterthought either. The carrots were inspiring (maybe butter poached?) the mashed potatoes perfect. Only the frites missed the mark as they could have been warmer. I'm really not a dessert person...if anything post-entree tempts me at all, it is a cheese course (which Knox Bistro offers). But it was my birthday, and my family insisted that THEY would feel cheated without a sweet celebration. That said, I cannot stress enough...DO NOT SLEEP ON DESSERT AT KNOX BISTRO. The Paris Brest - a hazelnut cream puff - is a must try. So I call Knox Bistro a special occasion restaurant because of the sheer decadence of everything we had. I know they do it in France, but I'm not sure it would be sustainable on a regular basis. However they do have a brunch and a more casual lunch menu...so perhaps once could make a habit of it. Knox Bistro is a high quality French bistro in the Knox Henderson neighborhood in Dallas. We visited recently for Valentine's Day, but we beat the crowds and went the night before. They're a great addition to the neighborhood and offer a great experience. The food, cocktails and service are fantastic. We chose to hit the bar for a cocktail before being seated. The bartenders are friendly, attentive and willing to make anything you'd like. I went off menu for my first cocktail and ordered a Black Manhattan after spotting a bottle of Averna on the very top shelf (photo #2). The bartender was like Spider-Man jumping up on the bar to retrieve it. I wasn't sure how he was going to get up there, but it was impressive. He did a great job and it was made perfectly. My second cocktail (photo #5) was a French 75. I wanted something lighter with dinner and it was great. I am very impressed with their pours. It seems to be common these days that bars are using smaller cocktail glasses and serving smaller cocktails. That's incredibly annoying especially when you're spending $15 a cocktail, but Knox Bistro is doing the opposite. They pour a healthy cocktail. Well done!! We went here on a weekday night for dinner with some friends and the restaurant was pretty busy. Their patio area is enclosed so it was nice to sit out there and it wasn't too cold or noisy. Our food was all very good. My entree of the filet was amazing, my friend got the steak frites and said the chimichuri on it was great! I wanted to love this place because the food looked great, but honestly a few things set me back. We went on a super busy day, so they weren't taking walk-ins except at the bar, which worked out fine, we got a seat pretty quick. But then...it took the bartender a while to get our drink orders and even just bring us water. Once we ordered/received the drinks, it went further downhill. Our bartender completely disappeared, I flagged down both other bartenders to order and they both acted like we weren't THEIR customers so they wouldn't take our order. It was about 20 minutes from getting our drinks to even ordering the food. Food came pretty quick, however my fries were "warm" at best, and all of our toast/bread was over-charred. The BLT was so messy and hard to eat, it was terrible TBH. Another friend ordered the baked egg (I think) which came out piping hot, but again, charred toast:/ the apple French toast tho, was really spot on. When we paid, we asked for separate tabs (some ordered more than others), he said yes but really just split the whole bill 3 ways. Service was pretty good and this place was really like a French bistro with cute decor. I would say that it was good but didn't exceed expectations. The quiche lorraine was absolutely Devine and super rich and decadent. The salad that came with it was less so and same with the other sides as well. The salad was standard and tasty but nothing to write home about. Overall this place is a 8/10. It just lacked more French items on their list. My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by Knox Bistro. This restaurant has a good amount of natural light and a lively atmosphere. The service was great and the food was delicious. I had the steak frites and the meat was cooked and flavored perfectly: Drinks were on point and our waiter was attentive. Never have I had a better grilled cheese!!! I got the soup and sandwich du jour and it was an insanely incredible choice. The grilled cheese was crisped perfectly with delicious cheeses inside. Now the cauliflower soup was even more delicious. For context, I'm not even normally a cauliflower fan. It was a wonderful mix of flavors and I'd happily eat it any day of the week. While in Dallas today for an appointment we visited Knox Bistro on a friend's recommendation. We found the staff, and particularly our server Catherine, all quite friendly and attentive. Catherine was able to answer my several questions about various dishes knowledgeably and thoroughly. We began with a brut Cava for my wife and the Garden Soirée cocktail for myself. One of my favorite coctails is a Last Word and this is very similar. This cocktail features Green Chartreuse, St. Germain, cucumber syrup, lime and gin. It is an excellent summer cocktail. It was poured in an elegant, tall Tom Collins glass with ice. One called for another and I asked our server if it might be poured up. The second one came to the table looking quite sophisticated and stylish having been poured in a coupe. And to my taste was even more enjoyable served in this manner. See my pic. On our friend's recommendation to not pass up the Cheese Soufflé, which our server noted is one of the bistro's most popular dishes, we decided to share that along with the Le Cordon Bleu sandwich. We very rarely indulge in sandwiches or burgers, both of which we love, but this offering proved to be irresistible, catching us at a weak moment. LOL. The cheese soufflé was indeed very nice. I forget all the cheeses used in the recipe but they included Gruyère and blue cheese. Both the soufflé and bubbling sauce that surrounds it in the small cast iron skillet are a cheese lover's dream. The Sancerre I chose to accompany my lunch complimented the cheese dish superbly. We are so glad we shared the sandwich as it is huge! The chicken breast is stuffed with Gruyère cheese, pan fried, and served on a ciabatta roll with ham and a tasty cabbage remoulade that provides a lovely flavor compliment and crunch to the sandwich. The sandwich is accompanied by a petite lettuce salad that is lightly dressed in a vinaigrette. A delightful lunch in a delightful bistro that I too now can highly recommend. read more

They do not have a "ranch" but make their own sauce as a substitute (I would stick to ketchup instead). The server was sweet and brought out complimentary dessert. Overpriced and under-delivered. We came for a specific special menu item they had advertised on their website that night. Once seated the waiter told us there was no special menu and the item was not available. He later confirmed that the special menu was, in fact, on their website after all but the advertised item wasn't available. We had already ordered drinks so we stayed. You could almost buy a bottle of Tito's vodka for the $21 they charged for an undersized martini. Dining room was open to the open-windowed patio so we shared the evening with flies and mosquitos. I would have said the food was good -- though overpriced -- had the salmon not kept me up all night with an upset stomach. And don't bother dressing for dinner...we were surrounded by people in sweats, shorts, t-shirts and even a gimme cap. I get that we're on Knox but not exactly the ambience you expect for a $220 dinner for two, which included a bottle of wine that we had to pour for ourselves. Complete disappointment. read more

Yesssssss! We picked a good one! Loved our little birthday brunch outting here at Knox Bistro. We celebrated a lovely lady here. It was delicious and delightful. Good coffee, brunchy creations and feel. We had a wonderful server. He was friendly and fun. Everyone was nice, lots of smiles and sweet check-ins. I got the monte cristo- so good! We all shared a sweet Dutch baby. Super tasty. We also had an amazing pecan pastry prior to all the savory dishes- so goooodie!!! If you like that drink, I'm definitely judging you lol. The Framboise was pretty decent as was the sangria. I seriously am not writing this to be ugly, but out of honesty of how this experience left me feeling. Obviously, this is my opinion, and by the looks of how busy the restaurant was, it looks like they do well. The reason I chose this restaurant is because I take care of an 85 year-old woman who has dementia. I try to do things that give her joy and make for a wonderful experience. Being it's the Christmas season, Knox Bistro had made an article for the top 14 Christmas themed restaurants in the Dallas. We had just been to Mercat Bistro the day before and we're wowed beyond our expectation. So to walk into Knox, and see garland and a few pretty wreaths, I was taken back by how it made the list. I will say, it is a bit unfair to measure their standard by Mercat Bistro. I guess I should say, according to the article that recommended this as one of the top restaurants for Christmas themes, I just didn't feel like it measured up. This is what the article described the restaurant as: "A whimsical holiday escape, where Parisian vibes and illuminated garlands come together and make an unforgetable winter dining experience. Garlands decorated with strings of lights, ornaments, and ribbons will make you feel like you're in your own Hallmark holiday movie." I honestly didn't feel the unforgettable or hallmark movie vibe. And what was more disappointing is it wasn't even about me. My lady didn't seem overly impressed either. Our waiter was kind and attentive. Maybe a little slow with attentive servjce, but not that big of a deal as we weren't in a hurry. What did it for me was walking out the door having paid, with tip, almost $75 for food that was good, but I felt was way overpriced(we eat out a lot),, and an atmosphere that left me feeling like it was just another day out eating somewhere. The hamburger my lady had was good and the Cajun chicken breast on my nothing to write hoke about salad, I had was good. And $5 for a little bottle of Sprite, is just uncalled for.
