Before heading out to Netflix House, we grabbed some lunch at HG Sply. They are very vegan and gluten friendly. We were seated immediately and our server was very friendly and got us started with water immediately. My wife informed her of the food allergies and informed us that whatever he is interested in, she will let us know if he can have it or if they are able to modify it. I ordered the Deviled Avocado (their play on the Deviled Egg). First it looked so cool and the avocado was the base and instead of the creamy egg it was a chick pea cream with some salt and seasoning. It was topped with onion straws. OMG it was really good. I really loved it and the texture was similar to deviled egg. For my main dish, I got a fresh kale salad with ranch dressing. It also had chick peas croutons. The ranch was light and very good. The kale was crisp and the chickpea croutons were unique and crispy. It was large enough for two. I also ordered a side of fresh cut fries which were cut thin. It was crispy and lightly salted. I can't skip in ordering fries especially if they look good. And looks matched the taste. The service was great and she kept checking on us. She knew every ingredient of all the dishes we asked about. It was amazing ! We will be back when we are back in Dallas. read more

Great vibe. Nice menu for those with all kinds of tastes and diets. We started with a bottle of Pinot. It's always hard to get a good vibe from just a small taste, but this was not a good wine and would not suggest. The tradition of handing out drinks and toasting was pretty cool I must say. Nice touch. We started with the cashew queso. Our vegan friends enjoyed more than us. For mains we had the Fried Chicken sandwich and the burger. The burger was great. The chicken sandwich was dry. Sat down for dinner this time with a big group. I was so impressed with the service! I personally had to leave the dinner quite early so I asked if I could put in food right away. The waiter said yes and I was surprised by just how quickly it came out. I ordered the salmon poke tostadas as my entree. They were fantastic! I also love the way they handle big checks. There's a QR code on the table and everyone can scan and select their items on the tab to pay. Made it super easy for me to close out my portion of the tab early while everyone else stayed to eat. Love this place. My favorite dish was the rib which is no longer on the menu but the new protein additions are great. The drinks are fantastic! If you love a sweet gin, the strawberry smash is great. The portions are a bit smaller than what I'm used to, but it's delicious. read more

I'm always a fan of this HG Sply in Lower Greenville. First of all, the vegan queso is good!! You can get anything on the menu catered to your dietary restrictions which I appreciated. There are tons of gluten free options. I opted for the cauliflower fried rice and added steak. It comes with tons of veggies and a fried egg. HG Sply offers all natural and farm to table cooking. The flavors and creations for the most part were good but a little overpriced for the outcome. They have an open windows area which allows for pesky flies to fly in. As much as they provided a small table fan it really made the whole dining experience cumbersome with the amount of flies we had to swat at. I even had a fly die right into my margarita! As for the food it was a hit and miss for me. We ordered the following: Crispy Tuna $17 Fried rice topped with yellow fin and drizzled with spicy mayo. I was excited for this because it was first time trying and it seemed to just taste like a tater tot with fresh fish up top. I wasn't a fan. Way overpriced for 3 pieces. Cochinita Nachos $18: a Mexican inspired pulled pork nachos. This was spot on flavor a delivery but not to my liking, however I wouldn't say dont try it my other party members loved it. Bison chili bow $13: great hearty and seasoned chili, was so happy this was my main course. Backyard Burger $16.50: large well seasoned pattied burger with a great helping of French fries (you'll need to add salt and pepper) they do not come seasoned. Farmhouse Grilled chicken $19: came with some measly grilled chicken, mash potatoes made from oat milk (inedible) and the coconut milk rice was a little overwhelming, had to add salsa to help eating this side order. As for my cocktail very tasty and was able to get the happy hour special! Happy I tried it out but the flies and the hit in miss on seasoning was too much for me to return. read more

Dallas location is just as good! We've previously tried their Fort Worth location and decided to try out their Dallas branch for comparison. TLDR; HG does not disappoint. We ordered: * Charrred Campfire Chicken: well seasoned with a Chari note that is just right. It's not overly burnt or anything. We love the fact that it sits on a bed of cabbage and greens which gives a nice refreshing palate cleanser in between bites. * Quinoa Meatballs: the meatballs were seasoned well however, they were a bit on the dryer end. I would have liked the meatballs to be just a little bit more juicier. But the quinoa was done well. *Samlon Tacos: one of our favorites! Salmon poke mixed with refreshing carrots and daikon gives a very unique spin on salmon poke. The taco shells are actually thinly sliced fresh daikon. This was tremendously refreshing! * Ceviche Bowl with chips: a fine choice for a shareable dish. Fairly standard, can't go wrong. No complaints here. Contrary to most of each a bowls, having chips on the side gives a very nice crunchy texture in between bites. The chips felt fresh and we're not stale. All in all, service was superb. We were quickly seated and served. Fair warning, the Dallas location is quite a bit smaller than the Fort Worth counterpart. Fort Worth site is much more spacious with a large patio area. read more

It's not often you find an entirely gluten free menu, so I'm always going go love HG Sply. Where else can I find gluten free fried chicken sandwiches and meatballs and mac & cheese? HG is known for their clean, simple food and their signature bowls. The menu is stacked with all the proteins ("hunted"), and veggie/rice/bean sides ("gathered") you can think of. Build your own bowl or order of HG's specials. Last time I was in I shared the following with a friend: French fries with 4 dipping sauces, the pasture raised beef filet (with a coconut chimichurri butter), chicken kebab, crispy Brussel sprouts, and mashed garlicky Yukon gold potatoes. All of the food really was so good, just good eating! Our steak was perfectly cooked and the Italian red they have on the menu pairs well with it. While I appreciate the concept and was very excited to try this place out , I left feeling extremely underwhelmed. We had the crispy tuna, backyard burger, a smoked chicken salad, and finish line juice. The crispy tuna appetizer was good - but tasted a bit too fishy for my liking ( I say this as someone who absolutely adores sushi, nigiri, and sashimi ) . The backyard burger and finish line juice were probably the best out of what we ordered . After a few bites of my smoked chicken salad, I noticed there was no chicken ! lol they promptly made me some chicken and took the salad off the bill - but the salad itself was nothing to write home about . It needed more dressing and was alright at best. Service was great and the ambiance was nice . When it comes to the restaurant downstairs, it has great vibes for an intimate get to together. Dark lighting and candles make for a very good ambiance. If you are there at sunset, you all get a little wine to toast the day with. It's fun! A great one stop shop too if you want to head upstairs for a great rooftop experience! Thank goodness they updated their menu! They now have a good amount of different types of things to order. Very good move on their part. I got the bison burger with fries and ranch and while I think you get a great amount for what you pay for, I was not impressed. While the burger needed salt, the fries were wayyy too salty. Their ranch is also pretty interesting tasting with a pretty weird after taste and was also way too salty. However, they do have good drinks and you really can't beat the prices on everything. We couldn't decide between the avocado hummus or the chips and queso, so our server told us the queso was their most popular with the hummus being her personal favorite. We went with the queso with promises to try the hummus next time. For our drinks, we got an old fashioned and a frozen mule. Both were extremely delish! For our meals we got the stir fry salmon bowl and the bison burger with the gluten free bun. The salmon bowl was cooked perfectly-- even the veggies in it were so flavorful. The bison burger was very rich and well worth it! It was also the best gluten free bun I have ever had! While most are dry and crumbly, this one has a spongier texture and was so good! The inside is a very chill vibe with amazing music. There is also a porch and a rooftop area that look really fun-- we will have to try out those locations. Our hostess and server were very nice and welcoming when we came in. And gave us plenty of time to look through the menu before we started ordering. We ended up getting the Salmon Poke Tacos for the starters and made a bowl. I think we got the Kobe Beef Burger with The Stir Fry. We also decided to try the Duck Confit from the Hunted portion of the menu. The starter was very refreshing and a good choice to start off the meal (at least in my opinion). The bowl was decent but we both did wish there was a tad bit more seasoning. I would get something different from the stir fry if I do decide to go there again. The hunted was good as well! I do wish I ordered some desserts but we ended getting it somewhere else after some more exploring (per my boyfriends's request). The restaurant had a nice ambiance to it. Dimly lit. Could be a date spot with your significant other or just a simple place to meet up with friends! Overall, I would say that this was a hit! Met up with an acquaintance here- headed to the rooftop. Parking: free, but CROWDED and tight. I parked in the "HG" parking lot. It's a shared lot behind the restaurant. this place is a classic for a reason. the rooftop is spacious and well fanned, the server fanny packs are iconic, and the drink bases are made in house! the crowd varies anywhere from families to date nights and large college groups. that being said i would be VERY unhappy paying nearly $20 for 3 tacos during regular hours... so highly recommend visiting during happy hour and just splitting apps while they're 1/2 off!! the food is fun and health-conscious, but won't blow your mind, especially for the price point. still a great, elevated casual place to hang out, and i love that they have community events! read more

This was a wonderful meal in a cozy place. Parking is always a slight challenge on lower Greenville, but we found a spot. The fries were delicious! They are fried in beef tallow and have a very savory taste & are fresh cut with skin on. They have a rather diverse menu selection and have vegetarian options as well as being fully gluten free. No possibility for a mistake. Lots of drink choices for both alcoholic drinks and health spritzers. The cost was very reasonable for our items. Seating in the booth was exceptionally comfortable with the retro benches and spring based cushions. I've been here three times now, this place is delicious and in one of my favorite spots in Dallas-Lower Greenville. It's very cute and fun things to do out there. You have to try this place because it never disappoints. Not pictured but my favorite thing on the menu is the cashew queso and chips. I usually have to ask for more chips but it's amazing.
