Stopped in for a random brunch after a short staycation in Dallas and would TOTALLY go back. Food was phenomenal and big portions though we did order larger meals. The duck was perfectly cooked and the balance between the pork belly eggs and grits was on point. Service was super friendly and vibe was easy going and casual.
Great service and great food. Family in town so had a big table but the drinks and food all come out quickly. Got the mimosa with watermelon juice which was surprisingly really good. Might be my favorite way to have one now. For brunch got one of my regulars of the pork belly and grits. As usual, I ate every bite on my plate. The crispy and fatty pork pairs perfectly with the cheesy grits and runny egg. Tried some of my mom's pancakes too and they were delicious.
Honestly I had Encina on a small list of places to eat a while back and I couldn't remember why? So when we found ourselves down in BA, we thought what the heck let's just walk in and see what happens. It was a Saturday morning and it was pretty packed but we didn't have to wait for a table which was nice. We had a lovely table in the back room. Loved the vibe of this place too. It was cozy and intimate but not stuffy or boring either. The Clarified Bloody Mary was pretty unique and deliciously horseradish forward. It was a nice twist on the drink. I love a good croissant and though that they don't make theirs in house, 6 bucks for a warmed up croissant from Empire bakery was one of the better croissants I've had in my life. Since it was our first time, we got all the viral hits. The breakfast sandwich was pretty yummy. Honestly though, I think there might have been better options on their well written menu. You could taste all the quality in the ingredients but it didn't have a big flavor punch and the texture to me was just all soft, no contrast. The Goat Guisado Tacos, now that was a game changer. Build your own tacos, super flavorful stewed goat meat with the cabbage crunch and those amazing cheese crusted tortillas - Yea that was a show stopper! But for the main event, those Blue Corn Pancakes 100% lived up to the hype. The pancakes themselves had this lovely mealy texture and they weren't super sweet on their own. But enjoyed with that perfectly melted butter, butterscotch, and maple syrup, yea what a perfectly balanced and harmonious bite of food. Well done! Can't wait to come back!
Encina was very yummy! I was really missing a couple of pancake spots back home and started searching for a spot to try to find some good ones. The blue corn pancakes really came through! Different than both of my favorites at home, these hold their own against both. I came in for a solo Sunday brunch on the patio, the spot was buzzin'! I started with a mimosa and coffee, ordered the pancakes I'd intentionally driven here to try with a side of eggs and bacon. Very yummy! Service was great, I'll definitely be back to have these again. If these aren't the best pancakes in North Texas, please point me towards the ones that are.
Ugh it is hard to explain how pancakes can be lifechanging, but I dream about these blue corn pancakes regularly. And they are available for breakfast at the DFW Chase Sapphire lounge!!
Walked in on a Sunday at 11AM and unfortunate they were completely booked for the day however, while standing and looking for another place to eat they had a reservation cancel and sat us. Simply put everything was amazing, service was quick and effective and the food was delicious!! The grits with pork belly was so tender and well seasoned. The blue corn pancakes also live up to the hype and don't even need syrup. The breakfast burger was good but had a lot going on and a little messy. Since it was 11 they only had brunch menu but everything was so good I'm determined to try their dinner.
Most of the reviews here are about brunch, but dinner is outstanding! We stopped in for our reservation and were seated right away. The restaurant itself is very inviting with a great vibe. Our server was very attentive and answered all of our questions. We started with the Baked Brie, Mezze Platter, and the Mexican Seafood Cocktail. All of the items were well prepared and very tasty! The Focaccia that comes with the Brie could be a great item by itself and the Hummus on the Mezze platter was super tasty. We also had the Braised Short Rib which was very well prepared with a great sauce. The Pork Chop was one of the best I had with a fantastic seasoning. The Greens that come with it should be on the menu all on their own, they are that good! Encina is a great option for lunch or dinner! You definitely need to stop reading and get in here!
Brunch was amazing and so was the service. I got the Blue Corn Pancakes and it was so good. It has a unique taste, but familiar at the same time, and I love that the butterscotch wasn't too much. It came with bacon that had a hint of sweetness to it... pleasantly unexpected. We were a party of 4 and our food came out pretty fast. Kudos to the kitchen, especially at such peak hours during weekend brunch. I didn't get to try it, but the French Toast had a few compliments. This gives me something to look forward to.
This is a super cute spot on the edge of bishop arts. They have a lit of seating for a spot that looks small on the outside. They have lots of tasty options to choose from including a brunch menu (didnt see since i went at dinner) food came quick and service was quick and friendly. We loved everything we put in our mouths! We got the mezze platter to star and then we got the short ribs, scallops and lamb stroganoff. So. Goood!!!
Encina was a nice find for our small group dining. The space held a lot of natural light and greenery. Our table had a variety of apps that I cannot completely recall the formal name: baked brie, smoked brisket croquettes and "appetizer ribs". They all were tasty and devoured by the table. Many of us ordered the braised short ribs entree. It was everything we expected. The sour cream and onion mashed potatoes were delicious.
Five stars from the moment we stepped in. We had reservations made as I was able to celebrate my birthday here. Everything was remarkable. The apps? Remarkable. Corn bread with a savory and sweet topping? Yes please. They add two dollops on top. One is sorghum butter, the other is whipped feta. They were the perfect addition to the sweet cornbread. We also ordered the brisket croquets which my husband absolutely devoured. For mains: I ordered the braised short rib that sat on a bed of asparagus and mashed potatoes. Oh my word. Oh. My. Word. I will dream about this short rib for years to come. It was phenomenal in its tenderness, flavor, presentation, everything. By far the best I've ever had! My husband ordered the pork chops and said the same about his meal. I even have it a taste and couldn't believe how delectable the flaky crust was. Wow. Cocktails: I had the cactus jack which was light and refreshing. Definitely recommend! The lemon drop martini is also a good choice. My birthday dessert - YUM!!!! Bread pudding with vanilla ice cream, caramelized pecans, and strawberries. Absolutely delicious! Ambiance: small interior with a covered patio with more seating. Recommend reservations here! They had a dedicated parking lot on-site. I couldn't have had a better birthday dinner and will recommend to everyone!
Came here for a girls night while I was in town and was so pleasantly delighted by everything we tried. Atmosphere was great and the service was excellent, but the food was rightfully the star of the show. We started with a bottle of Sancerre, and then just ordered a bunch of appetizers. Our favorites were the pierogis, steak tartare, bacon wrapped dates, and the mixed greens salad.
A great dining experience! Service is attentive and thoughtful. Cocktail menu has interesting options and they also make a good classic margarita. The cornbread is not to be missed!

I got the Montreal Long Haul with sunny side-up eggs instead of scrambled and it was delicious. I came here for my birthday with a reservation. Parking is tough because it's street, neighborhood, and small lot parking so get there 10 minutes early to find a spot to make your rsvp time. The blue corn pancakes blew my mind they were so good. The duck was really good too. Pancakes and duck is the new chicken & waffle. 5 stars! read more
The Lord is good and He serves us through the kitchen of Encina! Truly, I tell you, this is the best weekend brunch spot in all of DFW. I have yet to go for dinner because it's the first and only consideration on a Saturday/Sunday morning for me. Service is consistently excellent, but a special shout out has to go to Michelle for being especially sweet and personable. She made the restaurant experience more of a house guest experience - warm and welcoming. The place itself is very open, fresh, and modern. Perfect on a beautiful day. Then, of course, there's the food. Straight from the hand of God. The shrimp cocktail with avocado served on chips is absolutely mouthwatering. The honey glazed pork belly on top of cheesy grits will send you to heaven. Be sure to add chorizo to your order of migas for an absolutely perfect hispanic dish. The crown jewel of the brunch elite is hands down the blue corn butterscotch pancakes. Just reading the name you know it's something special, but it won't prepare you for how magnetically delectable it is. I honestly want to go to Encina once just to order these pancakes and, should I actually finish the generous portion, order another, and another, and another until an ambulance arrives to resuscitate me from dying of such glee... only to order another round. You can always order up with the Montreal Long Haul that includes the pancakes but also comes with duck leg confit and hash browns, but honestly, as good as they are they just can't compare. One last notable mention: Clarified Bloody Mary Martini. I don't do Bloody Marys. I don't do martinis. I do this, however, foaming at the mouth. Horseradish infused vodka, friends. It's a cure-all from boredom to dyslexia. You drink this and you can see sound in color. read more

First time dining at Encina! Went with a large group to celebrate a friend. Service was excellent but food was just ok. I started with a non-alcoholic drink, the Cactus Jill. Presentation was beautiful but was just average. Not sure if it was the aperitif or possibly bitters in the drink that threw the taste off a bit for me. As an appetizer I started with the cornbread. It came out warm but was quite dense. The butter was a great compliment but the whipped feta was a bit off putting. I originally wanted the catfish as my entree but opted for the red fish instead. Braised black eye peas were great but I felt the red fish could have had a bit more flavor/punch in the seasonings used. It seems as if Encina is really well known for brunch so I think I'd like that menu a bit more. read more
Great place to visit in bishop arts. The pancakes were amazing. I suggest visiting early as it does it packed. They also accept reservations. The location and restaurant is medium size with a decent parking lot. Highly suggest giving this place a chance. read more
Great experience! I recommend making a reservation if you can. We walked in and the floor was all booked for reservations and we had to be seated at the bar. When we sat at the bar, there were only a few seats as well. I noticed parties being turned away because they did not have any reservations. Service was great, kept checking in. Food: I ordered the pork belly and cheesy grits and it did not disappoint! The pork belly was moist yet crispy and went well with the grits. The sunny side up eggs were cooked so that the yolk wasnt all the way done. It does have a bit of a kick so if you are sensitive to spicy, that is something to consider. The dish overall was super heavy. Butterscotch pakcakes - moist and flavorful. Definitely recommend read more

I came first thing on a Saturday and got immediate seating at the bar for two. Food came out quickly and these pancakes are delicious! I believe it was a stack of 3 and they also come with 2 slices of bacon. They do have vegetarian and non alcoholic drink options. The bartenders tweaked their nojito to swap the pineapples for strawberries and it was refreshing! It was bright and lovely inside with several TVs showing different channels. It was a great way to start my morning! read more
Been wanting to try Encina for quite some time and my sis and I made our way here on a busy Sunday morning. We were unable to make reservations so we took our chances and just came, next time I won't go without a resy, all they had available was the bar area which I'm typically not interested in. I already knew what I wanted so I ordered the blue corn pancakes which comes with bacon and I got a scrambled egg on the side. Sis ordered the biscuits and sausage gravy with a sunnyside egg. Everything looked delicious and nicely presented, i was ready to dig in! The pancakes did not disappoint, I knew they'd be good, they were light and fluffy and the butterscotch throughout was a great touch. The cajeta was delicious but skimp as was the portion of syrup that came with the pancakes. The bacon was great quality but it wasn't hot in temperature at all. My sis didn't really care for the biscuits and gravy; I had a taste and it was pretty bland, more seasoning it would have been really good. The prices were decent excluding the egg. I looked over the receipt and noticed my scrambled egg was $8.00 which I was taken aback by, I'll admit it was a large portion of eggs for one person but absurdly priced. Overall, I enjoyed my food but I don't understand why this place is so popular. The pancakes were great but not enough to come back and deal with the crowd and parking. read more

So nice, I had to go thrice in a two week span. lol. The blue corn pancakes were delectable. You receive three fluffy, tasty pancakes and a side of bacon which was perfect side. A lil salty to cut the sweet. The coffee was delicious as well with a hint of cocoa. The wait staff was very attentive but not overbearing. Cool vibe. read more

Had brunch here today, service was excellent. Our waitress was very kind and knowledgeable about the menu, and was very attentive while not making us feel rushed. We got the French Toast for the table, it was easily the best bite of the meal. I got the Breakfast Burger, which was tasty but enormous. The patty was a bit salty but the acid of the pickles cut it nicely. The side salad was good. Overall, solid brunch, would return. read more

Went here on a Sunday during French hours. Did not even think to have a reservation for myself in a girlfriend after church but luckily there were seating at the bar. The bartenders were great at notifying my friend and I of what are some of the top choice menus that are there from their drinks to their foods. Now I will say on a Sunday the place is amazingly packed so get there early and try to make a reservation. The food was amazing We had great company a couple who is there from Finland celebrating their birthday was present and also shared some information about the food and drinks that they ordered. There's enough seating open area bright airy, I will definitely be coming back to try some other items. read more

We tried several plates and all were great! The highlight was definitely the devils on horseback dates with the blue cheese and apple butter. The service was also great, and our waiter helped us make choices on our order and was attentive and friendly! read more

So so good. Came in a little after opening and there were not many people but soon became very full. Staff are very attentive in looking after the tables. I ordered the Blue Corn Butterscotch Pancakes and they were so delicious. They were very soft and weren't too sweet. My friend had also ordered the Brunch Burger and that was also very good. Highly recommend if you need a place for brunch! read more
