I've been to Winsome Prime one other time and was amazed at how good the food was in addition to how quickly the bar filled up for happy hour. This time I came for dinner and was amazed again at the food. We came to celebrate a birthday and I opted for the restaurant week menu. I started with the truffle lemon pepper wings which were delicious and savory. My friends had the spinach dip and the shrimp. All really good. For my entree I ordered the truffled lasagna which was tender and saucy. I didn't get much of the truffle flavor but it was delicious nonetheless and the portion was big enough for leftovers. I ended with the butter cake which was one of the best things I've ever tasted! Our server was a nice young lady that was patient and knowledge and about the menu. She was attentive and checked on us frequently. I like Winsome Prime because there is always some good 90s R&B playing. The dining room was dimly lit and perfect for date night. You winsome, you lose some... and this one isn't winning anything. First, I'll give credit where it's due: the service was great. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely pleasant. And the cocktails? Also great. We walked in without a reservation and were told they were booked, so we grabbed seats at the bar. But honestly, the place stayed pretty empty the whole time. Felt a bit overhyped. And while we were happy to try it, the whole 'no seats' thing didn't match what we saw. Unfortunately, the food was a completely different story. The menu descriptions sounded SO good that we were actually excited about everything we ordered. We started with the Smoked Oxtail Rolls, which supposedly have oxtail, collard greens, and cheese. What we got was basically a creamy filling with maybe the whiff of an oxtail somewhere in the vicinity. I could not find an actual piece of oxtail meat, and I didn't see any collard greens either. For something called an OXTAIL roll, I was expecting... oxtail. Then came the Truffle Lemon Pepper Wings. Again, the name sounds amazing. The actual wings somehow tasted like nothing. Not lemon pepper. Not truffle. Barely even chicken. I don't know how to properly explain it other than they had almost no flavor and somehow didn't even taste remotely chicken-y. The Asian Sesame Cauliflower was easily the best of the three appetizers. It was pretty heavily doused in sauce, but at that point I was just happy something had flavor. We actually finished that one. And that was it for the food. We were hungry enough that we fully intended to order entrées afterward, but after three appetizers we basically looked at each other and said, "Meh... never mind." That should tell you everything. Now, the cocktails deserve their flowers. The Lychee Martini was really tasty, and My Last Two Dollars was excellent. It's a $22 cocktail with tequila, mezcal, passionfruit, lemon, chocolate bitters, and a little heat, and it had this really complex, layered flavor. Definitely the highlight of the night. Honestly not sure I'd visit again. The ambiance was great, the food was good, and I was excited for the live music. However, the service was not what I'd expect from a restaurant that automatically places a 20% gratuity on all checks. My partner and I were seated promptly, but forgotten about shortly thereafter. Our waitress briefly greeted us, gave us water, and offered time to look over the menu. We waited approximately 30 minutes before our waitress came back to take or drink order. She did apologize and admitted to forgetting about our table, but that set the tone for the rest of the night. My partner and I sat next to the kitchen and the individual who brought our food out (not our waitress) just tossed the plates on to the table and turned away headed back into the kitchen. The interaction happened so quickly, not a single word was spoken, she didn't ask if we needed anything additional, and that was my final straw. The drinks are tasty, but expensive. Tony, the GM, greeted me with genuine warmth, and KK behind the bar delivered exceptional service. The Winsome Margarita, featuring their exclusive blend of Parton Añejo tequila, was a standout! I also enjoyed the sweet potato chicken and waffles--a delicious balance of sweet, fluffy waffle and savory, crispy fried chicken. We came around 4:30ish and were promptly seated. I will say the service was awesome, until it started to feel like our server was constantly coming to the table trying to box our food up, take something away, or sell us something. I had an Old Fashioned, which was terrible, so I opted for a Sidecar instead. The Sidecar was good. I ordered the Hawaiian steak and the chili shrimp. The steak was cooked great, and the shrimp was really good, although the potatoes tasted overcooked. My friend also had the wings, which were overcooked, along with the Hawaiian steak. Overall, our total came up to almost $300. My biggest issue was after we finished eating. We were sitting there talking when someone came over and told us that the booth we were seated at was reserved. Now, I looked around, and there were plenty, and I mean PLENTY, of seats available. We came on a Tuesday, so it was not packed at all. We had already finished eating and paid, so we left, but the whole thing just rubbed me the wrong way. This elegant beautifully designed restaurant was almost 5 Star all the way except...they were NOT sensitive to the disabilities or the Healing Journey of their customers. I was visiting my family in the Dallas area for my birthday and my healing from cancer. Due to losing all my hair throughout chemo treatment's, I wear caps or scarves. Last night, I was wearing a black baseball styled cap with the word Faith on it. Upon entering the restaurant, I was told I would have to remove my cap for dinner. I asked if there was any way they could make an exception for someone who had been in treatment from cancer and was embarrassed about her hair loss. The question was asked to all of the higher-ups and although the gentleman who came to be the bearer of bad news was very kind and said he understood because his mom had gone through chemo as well. He didn't have the final say and they said no. He asked if I had a scarf or some other type of hat and I told him no I was visiting from California. We picked this restaurant because it was restaurant week and it was good. Needless to say, I had to check my and compose myself to keep from crying as they ushered me through the restaurant with my bald head exposed. If I had not been with a party and had my own car, I would've left however I sucked it up. We ordered from the special menu and they had three courses. We actually tried almost all of them between the six of us. I had the crab beignets, which I had never heard of, and they were absolutely delectable unelected the ribeye with potatoes. The potatoes were nothing to write home about they were just red potatoes, so I didn't really eat much of them. But the ribeye... was tender and juicy and flavorful and it didn't need any steak sauce, because its juices were its own sauce. Finally, the warm buttered rum cake with a scoop of ice cream was fire and on point to close with. I did notice that they were not consistent with plating because my ice cream was melting and I did notice have the same caramel design or fruit garnish as some in my party. Maybe the Chef was in a rush but that does affect the look. My/Our amazing server did ask at the beginning of the meal if anyone was celebrating anything. My niece told him my birthday so at the end, he brought me a lite happy birthday sign and their special birthday cake, which was Red Velvet. It was moist and just the right amount of sweet. Bathrooms were clean, but they didn't have any toilet seat covers. I gave it a three because of the treatment at the door. :-( read more

Had a great time here for happy hour and to my surprise it was also wine down Wednesday so I was excited! I will absolutely be back now that I know how good the specials are. Very grown and sexy vibe, excellent service from the time I walked in the door til I left. I loved those crab beignets! The sauce that goes with it was so good I out it in everything I ate that night. Lemon pepper truffle wings were okay. Wings just tasted a little old. Chili shrimp were great! I've been to both the Dallas and Houston locations but Dallas is by far my fave! The restaurant is beautifully decorated, live music offerings, great food and drinks, plus black owned! Definitely a spot I'll come back to again and again. Dined in on this particular night for an early birthday dinner. We started off with margaritas - always tasty with a punch. HH is not offered in the dining area, but our server did not mind us brining our drinks over. Food was enjoyed by all. I ordered the vegan portobello steak w/ pineapple, potatoes and broccolini - so yummy and surprisingly filling! Love that they have three vegan options on their menu! The birthday cake and sign was a sweet touch. The birthday cake is absolutely delicious, not too sweet with a cream cheese frosting. One of the managers stopped by our table to ask to snap a picture of me with the sign as it was a new addition and she was excited to showcase it. I came here on my birthday in March for happy hour and had a great experience sitting at the bar. Happy Hour at Winsome Prime is great as there are really good food and drink specials. The food is excellent! I had the truffle lemon pepper wings and the crab beignets. Both were delicious! I also got a delicious and super cute slice of rainbow cake for my birthday dessert along with a candle! It was really good! I also came back a week and a half ago on a Friday evenining when Eric Benet made an appearance for the restaurant's 1 year anniversary. Winsome Prime is definitely worthy of a visit. The restaurant has such a beautiful atmosphere, along with the live music performances (depending on the time). Puts you in the perfect mood for dinner, or just enjoying cocktails at the bar. This visit was during restaurant week, and normally I avoid going to any restaurant during these events. I find a lot of restaurants cut corners, and the service is terrible due to the huge volume of customers. Well Winsome Prime is the exception to the rules. First off, our server Keavin should get a lot of recognition for his excellent service. He was very professional and very attentive to all our needs. He's everything a customer could ask for. Next, Winsome Prime did not disappoint with the food. Again this is restaurant week, and I have a history of being at restaurants that skimp on the quality of their food. Well that is not the case here. All the entrees that were ordered were delicious. Crab fingers- sauce similar to a shrimp scampi and crab claws were snow crab. Good entree, could've used bigger crabs I feel for the price point. Shrimp and grits- seasoned really good. Chicken and waffles- Winsome knows how to season their food. Waffle was really good and the pecans were a great addition. Only thing I would've liked more would've been if they replaced the chicken wings with chicken thighs. Ooooh we had a time at Winsome Prime! Impressive Black owned restaurant in Trinity Groves that seemed to really knock the hospitality out of the park. For starters, the validated parking was amazing. We visited for a late dinner reservation and the large open lot was easy to navigate. The host team let us know that they could validate our parking even after we paid through the QR code. Check! The cocktails: they had a lovely selection of spirits. One being Beyoncé's Sir Davis whiskey and I believe Fifty Cent's cognac. I wasn't a fan of the whiskey cocktail but it could just be due to not really being a whiskey girl these days. Now that espresso martini with marshmallow? Very good! I'd get that again. For my entree I ordered the salmon, medium well. The char on top was delicious! A perfect crispy and it sat atop some asparagus and seasoned cherry tomatoes. I'd go back for the salmon for sure. The ambiance: gorgeous! Mood lighting (although a little too dark at some points), and beautiful decor and seating. Our booth was spacious and comfortable. I came to Winsome Prime with friends for brunch on Saturday morning. I wanted to go after hearing many people talk about this place and seeing it on social media. The ambiance was 5 out of 5. Upon arriving, the entrance is really nicely decorated. The attendants there took us to our table and the restaurant was exquisitely decorated. The bar area was very nice. There's a nice seating area near the bar and another dining room area. We were taken to the dining room area. I decided to get the Hangover Cure Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary was very strong and tasty however it was missing the celery, olives, and pickled okra. After asking our server brought us olives. Seeing that this cocktail is $17, I think it should have come with all of the items listed. I wasn't very hungry and decided to split the fried chicken wings with a friend and get the all hail Caesar salad. The all hail Caesar was very disappointing. The Caesar dressing was just ok and there wasn't much cheese in the salad. The dressing needed salt and pepper. The salad looked good but was average at best. The wings were flavorful and fried well but pricey at 4 wings for $15. Overall I think the restaurant is a beautiful space. I would go back for happy hour, but I feel that for brunch and I know dinner you just don't get the value for what you pay for. I've been hearing so much about this place. I finally came to try it out for Happy Hour. They do provide HH M-F on a first come, first serve basis from 4-7pm. I came around 5p. They have the main bar seats, and right behind it is more lounge chair type seating in the same area. The food and drinks were amazing. The drinks I had were the lemon drop martini and sidecar. As far as food, I enjoyed chili glaze shrimp, the dip, and truffle lemon pepper wings. I enjoyed it all! Be aware they do come in small portions. They also charge a 20% gratuity fee to all parties. The inside area is much smaller than I expected. I would highly recommend booking a reservation if you want to dine in. I liked the atmosphere inside and the decor. Wow! I had an amazing time at Winsome Prime celebrating my friend's birthday. From the moment I arrived everything exceeded my expectations. I wasn't sure about the parking situation so I was happy to see the large "free" parking lot. Once inside, I was blown away from be stunning decor. It truly set the tone for the birthday brunch. I absolutely loved everything--from the vibe and décor to the service and, of course, the food. We went for dinner on Sunday evening and arrived just as they were starting dinner service. She was very personable and patient. I told her about my allergies, and she took great care to check on an item for me. She came back and recommended an alternative because she didn't think what I originally wanted would be safe. I really appreciated that level of attention. We started with a dirty martini, a smoked old fashioned, chargrilled oysters, and crab beignets--FANTASTIC. The man ordered the wagyu ribeye (Leah's suggestion), and I ordered the blackened snapper. Both were excellent. For sides, we chose the lobster mac and cheese and the garlic mashed potatoes. Everything came out promptly, at the perfect temperature, and seasoned beautifully. Portions were generous, so we had leftovers of everything. We also ordered the carrot cake and tequila even though we were stuffed. The carrot cake was very good at the restaurant, but it was fantastic once I warmed it up at home--cream cheese frosting warmed up is my favorite. A photographer came by and offered a complimentary photo. She said she'd bring the free one and also bring framed versions we could purchase. The photos were done really well, and the frame was very nice. I had no plans to buy anything, but I ended up getting all three--$20 each. Lol. The manager stopped by to ask about our experience (I told him how much we loved it). He mentioned they have live music on Fridays and Saturdays, and they also offer weekend brunch. All in all, I loved everything about this place. My only gripe--and this applies to every restaurant with this policy--is the automatic gratuity. In this case, the service was fantastic, so it didn't matter. But I've been to places where the service didn't warrant the 20% they automatically charge. That's just my personal pet peeve. This restaurant is very beautiful and the perfect place when you want a fancy dinner. I was at the bar and they have a little lounge area also. The happy hour menu is amazing. I also love that it's black owned which I always love to support. To start I ordered Expresso Martini, entree the AMERICANA CLASSIC $21 traditional breakfast plate served with your choice of sausage or bacon, 2 eggs your way, Texas toast, and green chili. My friend ordered the WINSOME CHICKEN N' WAFFLES $29 classic butter pecan waffle served with crispy fried chicken. Both dishes were amazing. Disappointing experience. I was in the area for work and stopped in for dinner, sitting at the bar since I was alone. Shortly after ordering, the bartender came back and asked me to repeat my main because he forgot. I also asked for the Wi-Fi password, and he said he would check but never followed up. I ordered the crab beignets and snapper Orleans -- both had good flavor but unfortunately were served cold, which was surprising and made it seem like the food had been sitting out before being brought to me. To top it off, a 20% gratuity was automatically added to the bill, which felt odd for one person at the bar, especially given the lack of service. The crowd was overwhelming, and it definitely felt like there could be a more efficient way to serve everyone. I know now that making a reservation is the way to go. Winsome Prime has been on my list to try ever since they opened back in April 2025. Thanks to their Thanksgiving menu, I was finally able to stop in and experience some of what they have to offer. When I say experience, dining here is just that...an experience!!! For Thanksgiving Day, they offered a special menu that featured many traditional Thanksgiving dinner choices. Also, they offered their complete brunch menu as another option. Leading up to my visit, I did my research and was prepared to order from their brunch menu but as I saw plates of the Thanksgiving options being delivered to other tables, I quickly decided I would forgo brunch and order from the special menu. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. For my entree, I went with the Hawaiian Glazed Ham (smoked turkey was the other protein option) along Cornbread Dressing and the Three Mac & Cheese as my sides. Little did I know, this was just the meal that I needed. For dessert, I chose "Mom's Carrot Cake" and it was tasty with just the right amount of house-made cream cheese icing!! Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with the food! Service was top-notched!!! Our table was never left unattended. As a matter of fact, one person of the group accidentally dropped their fork and within seconds our server showed up with a replacement. Add to that, the GM (Tony) went around to each table to ensure everyone was having an awesome experience. Having not ordered from the brunch menu, I experienced a bit of FOMO and decided to return 2 days later for that experience. Similar to the experience on Thanksgiving Day, I was not disappointed. For my entree, I chose the Winsome Chicken N' Waffles which was very tasted. I was able to sample the 'Smoked Oxtail Hash' and that is definitely on my list to order in the near future. The dinner menu looks very intriguing so that's next on my list to check out. As for the space, in addition to the dining room, there is a large bar area that includes bar-side seating along with a number of high-top tables and chairs. Additionally, there is space for private dining that seats ~10 people. Lastly, there is also a speakeasy area that contains several leather chairs and sofas. When I first saw the space, I immediately thought 'cigar lounge' but unfortunately, cigar smoking is currently unavailable. Dined here with some of my sorority sisters recently. We made reservations for a Tuesday evening. It wasn't that busy, but I'm told it's quite the scene on a Friday night!! We were greeted & seated upon arrival. Inside is dimly lit with a nice, cozy vibe. There's music playing which can get loud at times if you're trying to have a conversation, but I overall. Our server was very friendly. We ordered a few drinks - I cannot remember the name of mine but it was very tasty. Between the four of us, we had the spinach dip, crab beignets, Hawaiian Steak, Lamb Chops, & Salmon - sides of Mac & Cheese and Brussel Sprouts. The flavor of my steak was great... just a little tough - I ordered it medium well. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Winsome Prime has typically has been a to spot for a lot of us in this area. It's very nice classy environment to go meet up with friends and they have excellent drinks I must say! Also for the price on happy hour is unbeatable. But recently I went and I was not happy to see that they are charging 20% gratuity now at happy hour and also that they have changed the menu and up increased the prices on some of the menu items. Yes, I understand that you do have to increase with time but $11 for the shrimp when it's only three is crazy. I feel like a lot of time establishments put the automatic 20% gratuity because sometimes service can't lack and they want to make sure that they are guaranteed. Will I come back probably if I'm invited but just going on my own I don't know. I still have not made it for dinner. Honestly, I saw the menu and I didn't see anything I wanted to try. read more

it was so good we went two nights in a row. Back in August in was my husband's birthday and we had been wanting to try it and it did not disappoint. We then went back the next night because we found out that he got a new job after being laid off for a few months. It was great to celebrate with such a nice meal and great service. Came with a friend for their happy hour and it wasn't too crowded as we were able to find a seat opposite the bar. The restaurant was nicely decorated and our service was great! There are a handful of items to order for their happy hour and we settled on wings (double order) and the Dip (add crab) - I also ordered a Cesar salad. For drinks, I ordered the lemon drop martini and my friend ordered the sidecar. We thoroughly enjoyed the drinks and they're priced nicely for happy hour. We received the dip but the crab was missing; however, it was still good - I'm sure it would've been better with the crab. The wings were your typical lemon pepper flavor. Oh how I want to love Winsome Prime. Winsome Prime falls short for me and I just don't believe the hype. Turn off was too many rules. I will share later on. Also for 20% automatic gratuity I need service to match that. I set up dinner for a party of 4 people. I went for the restaurant week menu. I love supporting a good cause. This also gave me another chance to try them out after I went for the grand opening weekend. So here was a rule I disagreed with. To participate with restaurant week your whole table has to use that menu. Excuse me my aunt didn't want anything on this menu and wanted the regular menu. What kind of nonsense is this. I had to get the manager on this one. You still making money and why force one person to use this menu. Manager agreed to let her order from regular menu. The regular menu was available so this was baffling. Minority businesses need to do better. It's hard to support them with so many different rules. Im going to give the GOOD, BAD and UGLY. Good My waitress was sweet and friendly. She apologized for the wait. I think they are short staffed still. The collard greens were tasty. The crab beignets are delicious. Stuffed spinach was yummy. Bad Chicken Royale was not good. The chicken was so DRY. The mashed potatoes and sauce were the saving grace. I left most of the chicken. I really should have sent it back. 2 STARS Kung Pao Pasta This has potential, but with only 2 shrimp for the cost. It's not worth the price. This was also dry and the noodles needed more sauce. It was a disappointment. 2 STARS Ugly All the desserts were bad. Our table didn't like any of them really. The ice cream that came with each dessert was the best part. Carrot Cake was dry, but icing was good. Rum Cake just blah no flavor and boring. Bread Pudding ok but had much better. We did tell the General Manager the desserts need work. He came over to the table to check on us. I always think this is a great idea. When he asked us our HONEST opinion we gave it. The restroom had toilet paper this time so that was a plus. However, someone needs to check on it throughout the evening. It needed to be cleaned up. Overall it was an ok experience. The service saved this experience. They did have some live music and that was nice. I don't think I will be returning. For the price I can go to establishments that are really a fine dining experience. read more

The food was absolutely amazing. The appetizers of spinach dip with crab and the cauliflower, chefs kiss! I love them more than my brunch order of a garden omelette with potatoes but this was good as well. Ordered a carafe of mimosa with cranberry juice to share, delicious. The service was excellent, our waitress was knowledgeable and offered great suggestions! The ambiance was classy, with very nice decor. It's a bit pricey but worth it! Nice classy style restaurant located adjacent to the once thriving Trinity Grove area. My dinner date was at night, so the dim lights and the fancy table settings were very romantic. The music was a little loud in the beginning, but was lowered just before the live music. Our server was awesome from beginning to the end, but not too familiar with the cocktail menu. My friend does not eat pork, but he was quick on making food suggestions from the simple menu. The food presentation was great, but the taste was just ok. My pasta dish was a little salty, and the "special carrot cake" was dry and tasted more like ginger, or a spice cake. The prices are pricing, yet pretty in line with those type of restaurants. After reading the reviews it was decided to visit the establishment on Friday for HH. The HH side fills up fast, that evening we were shoulder to shoulder. Good music, service was slow which due to the number of patrons I expected that. Valet experience was painful, there were two operating the service. Upon retrieving vehicle the way it was set up one has to walk to get vehicle. Sir I have heels on hence the point of valet. Also, unclear upon entry is scan to pay or valet entry. I may return with a reservation to hear the live music piece. read more
