I have been to Pangea regularly and brought several friends and family members over the past few months. I've enjoyed the restaurant so much that I've even met a few of the managers and Chef. We always love the atmosphere, the live DJ, the food, and drinks. However, what I experienced tonight will most definitely make it my last visit, and it deeply saddens me to say so. While walking into the men's restroom tonight, I watched the chef, "Chef Kev," openly doing c o k e with two other gentlemen right out in the open bathroom. It wasn't even hidden in a stall or a backroom--it was completely out in the open like it was a normal thing to do everyday. I cannot imagine if my son walked in and witnessed that. After seeing this, we calmly paid our ticket and left. I won't be returning, and none of my family will be either. This deeply saddens me because I truly love supporting Black-owned businesses, especially when they get the food and atmosphere right in Dallas, but I am incredibly disappointed. Came walking here after the opera house so I can't speak for parking. The vibes are immaculate - absolutely love the forest-y colors and night life scene. Service was incredibly friendly (sorry I forget your name but I had the bubbly blonde(?) girl as my waiter, she was amazing) All the food was pricy but absolutely delicious - worth trying. We had an AMAZING time at Pangea! We came as a party of 7 to celebrate my twin cousins' birthday, and the entire experience was on point from beginning to end. We pretty much ordered ALL the appetizers lol and everything that hit the table was delicious. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was great, and everyone in our group genuinely enjoyed themselves. But the service is what really took the night to another level. Our server, Jas, was BEYOND amazing! She was attentive, friendly, patient with our group, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the night. She definitely helped make the birthday dinner feel special. And then there was Kev, the owner! I'm a HUGE lemonade person, and they happened to be out that night. When Kev came by our table to check on us, I jokingly told him how beautiful the entire experience would have been... if only I had some lemonade lol... I immediately told him I was just messing with him and that it was absolutely NOT necessary. This man went and MADE ME A LEMONADE FROM SCRATCH anyway! That kind of hospitality says everything. It wasn't even about the lemonade... it was the fact that the owner cared enough about one guest's experience to go out of his way like that. Great food. Great atmosphere. AMAZING service. And an owner who clearly understands hospitality. We'll definitely be back. And somebody please make sure Kev keeps some lemons in the building for me next time! lol read more

We ended up at Pangea after our original brunch plans fell through, and unfortunately, this will probably be our first and last visit. Walking in, I was actually really impressed with the atmosphere. The front seating area is enclosed almost like a garden room or sunroom, and it's really pretty. The inside is a little darker, but still has a nice aesthetic. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to the atmosphere. Teran ordered the hot honey chicken and waffles, and I originally ordered the oxtail and grits, but they were out of oxtail, so I switched to the fried catfish and grits with a side of scrambled eggs and cheese. First, they brought Teran regular chicken and waffles instead of the hot honey version. They corrected it, but the chicken was still pretty dry. Also, their chicken option is chicken tenders, which was a little disappointing because we were expecting more of a traditional chicken-and-waffles type of meal. The waffles were probably one of the strangest parts of the meal. They were extremely chewy and rubbery. I literally could not cut through mine with a fork and had to use a knife. Even trying to move the waffles around the plate was difficult because of how tough and chewy they were. My catfish was also very disappointing. The fillet was oddly thick -- much thicker than any catfish fillet I've ever had -- to the point that the texture and appearance seemed unusual. I included a picture because it's hard to explain. More importantly, it had a very unpleasant old/dirty taste. I've eaten plenty of catfish before and have never had it taste like this. The grits were actually the best part of my meal. They were creamy and tasted good, although they were listed as jalapeño grits and I didn't really see or taste any jalapeño or spice. I asked for hot sauce and was told they were out. Instead, I was brought verde sauce and buffalo wing sauce. I wasn't really sure what I was supposed to do with verde sauce on grits, so I ended up pouring buffalo sauce over the catfish just to try to cover the flavor. Eventually, I removed the catfish altogether and just tried to eat the grits. They ultimately cleared my plate with almost the entire meal still on it. The restaurant itself is visually very nice, and I really wanted to enjoy it, but between the incorrect order, dry chicken, rubbery waffles, questionable-tasting catfish, being out of both oxtail and hot sauce, and the overall food quality, there just wasn't enough here for us to want to return. read more

Pangea is a beautifully decorated restaurant that seems like a hot-spot for celebrating special occasions. People were dressed up and the vibe was lively. It was hard to carryon a conversation due to the noise level, so keep that in mind. We made a reservation, but we did have to wait a little bit to get our table. When we did, our waitress was friendly and explained the menu to us. I ended up ordering the empanadas and a caesar salad. Both were just ok, and I wouldn't recommend it. Everyone else at the table enjoyed their food, so I wouldn't recommend definitely try something else the next time I visit. read more

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing... Visiting Dallas for the weekend and my sister suggested Pangea. Restaurant is located downtown. The restaurant is really beautiful and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. We sat in the padio and I remember the music and whose I can tell you is that the music was such a vibe. We were greeted. Menu was presented and I was very surprised to see that the new was ever easy to read. Then for some reason we all ordered 5 different dishes and can I tell you that every single dish was so good!!! The taste to the flavor to the quantity of the food. Let's not talk about dessert or the appetizer. Everything was 10/10. We met the chef and he was so nice. We told him we were so impressed. Now THIS is how you do downtown! From the elegant outdoor A/C patio to the flower wall with the full-length mirror (because every girl and her bestie need a selfie spot), y'all absolutely understood the assignment. The bar selection was on point, and that 140oz juicy steak was everything. I give the revamped Downtown Lo-Cal a solid ! The DJ was dropping hit after hit, the waitress was serving shot after shot, and those "not your mama's" spicy greens had sweat beads forming on my forehead. Whew! Listen, even though it was a Thursday, you would've thought it was Club Cirque in there. (If you know, you know.) My first time back since to they moved and re-opened. The customer service was pretty good and attentive. We went on a week night so it wasn't packed, but the vibe was very intimate. We the crab cakes as an appetizer, and it was tasty. I would order again. For my entree, I got the Jerk Roasted Lamb Shank. It comes spicy so be mindful. The spice wasn't too much, it was very tolerable. The Lamb was tender and seasoned well, however, there was more fat than I expected. I also had a side of broccoli, my favorite- ah it was so good! Overall a good meal. For dessert, I had the Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake. When it's warm-hot it's 5/5 stars; semi rich and delicious. I would come back again, for dinner or brunch. read more

The ambiance was a 10/10 from initial walk in. Low lighting but not too low, music wasn't too loud either. Our waiter, Charlie, was attentive and once we realized how good everything on the menu looked - he reassured us that everything was good. This place will definitely be a staple for my summer especially given the new central location. I went for the brunch this time and I tried the breakfast tacos. Overall, this was a good visit, friendly waiter and I know this will be a regular spot for me. Our server forgot to put our orders in twice and so there was a long waiting time before we got our appetizer and additional bread. I received my salmon entrée, and my guests did not receive their entrée until another 15 minutes later. A manager came over to comp our appetizer, which was really nice, but we were not the only table at the restaurant tonight that complained about the service. And we were one of five tables in the entire restaurant so it wasn't busy but service was very subpar. My meal would've been great had my mashed potatoes not been cold when they came out. I wish they had stayed in Garland. Having to drive to Dallas means dealing with traffic, paying for parking, and trying to find a parking spot. The food and drinks were really good, but the biggest downside was the gnats and flies. We started on the patio, but they were so bad that we decided to move inside, thinking it would be better. Unfortunately, it was even worse. The flies and gnats were constantly landing on our food, making it difficult to enjoy our meal. At that point, I just wanted a to-go box. I hope they can get the pest issue under control because the food was definitely worth coming back for, but the dining experience wasn't enjoyable with so many bugs. read more

The ambiance is beautiful -- modern, polished, and welcoming. From the moment we arrived, everything was well organized and we were seated immediately. The customer service was excellent throughout the visit. During brunch, I ordered "The Classic," which was well prepared and enjoyable. Later in the day when the dinner menu reopened at 4 PM (we were already there), my friend ordered the pasta while I tried the mac and cheese -- both were flavorful and satisfying. The drinks were great as well; I had a martini and a tequila sunrise. Our bartender, Will, was professional, attentive, and made sure we were taken care of the entire time. Next time, I definitely plan to return in the evening and try the stuffed salmon, as the dinner menu has always been appealing. After waiting 25 minutes for drinks to come, my drink finally came and my partners drink didn't because the waiter forgot. So he ordered again and ordered 2 at the same time cause it was taking so long. Meanwhile, the manager saw us and asked us if everything was okay. He apologized and when he was leaving the drinks finally came. ( a great manager btw - exception from the bad service. ). After 20 more minutes, the waiter came to tell us our order was going to take another 20 to be ready so we've decided to order a roll and some sashimis. My partner doesn't like spicy food so we asked the waiter if the Pangea roll was spicy. He said no. When we were waiting for the sushi, the plates came - before the sushi?!?!?. So we had the chicken and the salami and the sushi came a little bit after. We couldn't eat the roll - IT WAS SPICY!!!! Even for me! In summary, I wouldn't recommend it based on my personal experience but I also believe we could have gone there on a bad day for them cause I read some great reviews before going. read more

This is my first time between this location, I am so glad they moved to downtown and closer to me. The decor is beautiful and so vibey and welcoming at the same time. We were we were escorted to the table which had plenty of room. We started off with the peach Bellini which is so delicious. We ordered appetizers of oxtail empanadas, crab and shrimp dip, and the famous crab fingers! It was all so delicious! We debated to order a second order of crab fingers! My guest had Peri-Peri chicken, gumbo, and the stuffed salmon and rice. We sampled each other's plates and declared everything was delicious. We also ordered sides, cornbread, macaroni and cheese and they're famous brussel sprouts! The cornbread was a sweet delicious treat. And the brussel sprouts we're so tasty! The patio area had exposed roof components therefore, it was not easy on the eyes. Collectively we decide the food was a 7/10. I really wanted to like this place. I'd heard about Pangea for a while, especially the Garland location, and after seeing it all over TikTok, we finally made the drive to the Dallas location. Unfortunately, the hype didn't match our experience. They were out of the short ribs, so my wife ordered the catfish and grits. The grits themselves weren't bad, but the fish had a really unpleasant, almost dirty taste, and the flavors just didn't come together. She barely wanted to eat it. I ordered the honey chicken and waffles. For what I expected, getting three small chicken strips was already disappointing, but the bigger issue was the taste--the chicken tasted like it had been fried in old grease. The waffles and chicken didn't do anything to save the dish. Service was mediocre. Nothing necessarily outrageous happened; it just wasn't particularly attentive or memorable, especially when the food was already disappointing. Maybe the Garland location is a different experience, but the Dallas location was a miss for us. We came in because of the reputation and social-media hype and left wondering what we were missing. This was my first time at Pangea since I'm visiting in town with a good friend and I must say the food was amazing. It was just so flavorful we started with the Pangea rolls, which was something I've never experienced before, but I hope to have again next we had dumplings. The fried dumplings were so amazing and their Pozo sauce hit the spot. I decided to have the stuff salmon, but I requested potato purée. They don't usually do substitutions, but it was a slow night so I was able to have it my way and I must say I loved it. My friend had the lamb shank and she said it was so amazing and even shared a small piece with me and I must say I agree. lastly, we both decided to have some mocktails tonight and I suggest just mixing it up because the purée does sit at the bottom but overall this was a 10 out of 10 experience must do it again. read more

To make matters worse, the A/C wasn't working, so the restaurant was extremely hot and humid, making it uncomfortable to even sit through the meal. The food was the biggest disappointment. The mac and cheese was watery and lacked flavor, and overall the dishes did not match the premium prices on the menu. For what we paid, we expected much better quality and presentation. The owner came over at one point and said, "I'm trying to be nice to y'all," which came across as dismissive rather than addressing the issues we were experiencing. While they offered complimentary drinks, that didn't make up for the poor food, uncomfortable environment, and overall lackluster service. I don't mind paying for a great dining experience, but this simply wasn't one. Between the heat, disappointing food, and underwhelming customer service, I left feeling like the restaurant didn't deliver the value it promises. Let's start by saying I saw a lot of mixed reviews before coming, and unfortunately my experience reflected that. We arrived around 11 PM to extremely loud music and waited quite a while for a host, even as staff walked past without acknowledging us. Once we were finally seated, we were told several menu items weren't available. No calamari or dumplings, which set the tone early. I will say, our server was great--attentive and professional. However, the food didn't match the level the place seems to promote. We ordered wings, fries, a burger, chicken sandwiches, and catfish. Everything was pretty basic, and some items tasted like they were cooked in old oil or without much care. The catfish was the only dish that felt worth paying for. The space itself also lacked airflow, which made the overall experience less comfortable. I genuinely want to support and see places like this succeed, but the food preparation and overall service need improvement.....especially when it's marketed as a quality experience. The owner did come over and check on the women at our table, which was surprising considering I'm the only one who lives here and a business owner myself. The DJ was amazing and definitely carried the vibe. After a few drinks, the energy of the space picks up--but for me, that wasn't enough to make up for everything else. We've been to the other location where the food was decent. So my family and I came to the downtown location to celebrate a birthday. My son ordered the Peri chicken and it was extremely dry! Three people in our group ordered the stuffed salmon and it was cold. Two other people ordered the chicken and crab pasta and the chicken was also extremely dry. So dry that they could not eat it. I ordered the jerk lamb shank, which was good and tender however, the mashed potatoes were also cold. Brussels sprouts & Oysters were good! As for the drinks, my daughter ordered a French 75 and it was terrible. Two other people ordered Hugo spritzes and they were not good either. I am not sure what is really going on at this restaurant. We came on a Wednesday and it took 45 minutes for our food to come. Needless to say, we will not be back unfortunately! read more

I was extremely disappointed with our dining experience at Pangea. We chose this restaurant to celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary, hoping to try something new instead of returning to a place we already knew would make the occasion special. Unfortunately, from the moment we arrived until we left, the experience was filled with frustration. The first red flag came before we even arrived. I tried calling the restaurant several times but could never get through to anyone. When we arrived for valet, we discovered there was no handicap-accessible ramp at the main entrance. My husband uses a wheelchair, and although I hadn't selected wheelchair accommodations when making the reservation, I expected there to be an accessible way to enter. Instead, after unloading his wheelchair, we were simply told to "go around the block to Elm Street." There was no valet on that side, so we had to find parking ourselves and my husband had to roll nearly two blocks just to reach the entrance. Finding the accessible entrance was another challenge. After searching unsuccessfully, I went back inside to ask for help. By then we had already been there for 30 minutes. Surprisingly, none of the hostesses knew how wheelchair guests were supposed to enter. Eventually, a manager explained that we needed to go through a separate lobby. Once we found it, the door into the restaurant wouldn't open until two guests exiting opened it from the other side. Once seated, our server was excellent. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and gave great recommendations. He was truly the best part of the evening. The ambiance was beautiful with a live DJ, creating a fun atmosphere. Unfortunately, we soon realized the dining room was extremely hot. Our server explained they were having air conditioning issues due to a problem with the landlord. This should have been communicated before guests were seated so they could decide whether to stay. Instead, we spent our anniversary dinner fanning ourselves with the menus. Looking around, nearly every table was doing the same. When our food arrived, it was disappointing. I ordered the lamb chops with mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts. The lamb lacked seasoning, and the mashed potatoes were cold. My husband enjoyed the Bayou Fish, but the dirty rice underneath was also cold. During dinner, a guest at a nearby table appeared to suffer a medical emergency, likely due to the excessive heat. Staff brought ice and eventually an ambulance was called. We completely understood the delay this caused, but after finishing our meal and waiting about 30 minutes for our check, I began feeling unwell myself and told our server we needed to leave soon. Unfortunately, our evening ended the same way it began. As we exited through the accessible lobby, the same door was stuck again. This time an EMT and what appeared to be a manager were also unable to get through until the manager walked around and opened it from the other side. I told the EMT that if there had been a true emergency requiring evacuation, my husband would not have had a safe, accessible exit. He agreed that it was a legitimate concern. We left Pangea deeply disappointed. While our server and the atmosphere were wonderful, the accessibility issues, malfunctioning entrance, lack of communication about the broken A/C, inconsistent food quality, and the fact that the food simply was not worth the price overshadowed what should have been a memorable anniversary celebration. I sincerely hope management improves accessibility, adds clear signage directing guests to the accessible entrance on Elm Street, repairs the malfunctioning door, communicates major issues like the lack of air conditioning before seating guests, and ensures the quality of the food matches the prices being charged. The ambiance exuded luxury and relaxation. I started with the cornbread and Have Mercy. The sweet cornbread was so delectable that I didn't bring any home. I tasted the Have Mercy, famous for its winning combination of chicken and pureed potatoes, which were excellent. However, the cold tomato mixture was bland and didn't enhance the dish. The menu may alter as this was a soft opening but to start, we tasted the tomato basil soup, sushi, and shrimp cocktail. As the night progressed, as well as the indulgence of cocktails, we sampled the brisket mac & cheese and wagyu sliders. The brisket Mac and cheese was the star. Extremely disappointed with how Pangea handled a situation involving their valet service. My keys were lost, and I was left waiting for over an hour and a half while staff tried to locate them. The inconvenience didn't end there. My car key and house keys were on the same keychain, forcing me to contact my daughter to get my spare car key from my home and my son to provide a spare house key. What should have been a pleasant evening turned into a stressful and frustrating ordeal. To make matters worse, I received no compensation, no apology from the owner, and no phone call when my keys were finally found the next day. I had to call the restaurant myself to get an update. I had a terrible experience at Pangea and honestly would not recommend it. We were a table of four and waited 45 minutes just for drinks, which is already unacceptable. It then took another 45 minutes for shrimp flatbreads, and by that point, we were extremely frustrated. When I noticed the owner, I politely asked our server if he could come speak with us. I calmly and respectfully explained the long wait times and also mentioned that the music selection lacked variety. Instead of receiving that feedback professionally, the owner, Kevin Ashade, responded with an attitude that was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. As Black women, we approached him with respect, and the way we were treated in return was extremely disappointing. At that point, we decided it was best to cancel our order and go elsewhere. However, even after that decision, my shrimp flatbread still came out another 35 minutes later--and it was incorrect. To make matters worse, my friend overheard him say, "Get these b***** out of here!"* in reference to us. That was shocking, disrespectful, and completely unacceptable behavior from any business owner. No customer--especially those who are calm and respectful--should ever be spoken about or treated like that. The lack of accountability, poor service, and outright hostility overshadow what could have been a great experience in a beautiful establishment. If you can't handle constructive feedback or treat your guests with basic respect, you shouldn't be in hospitality. We will not be returning. read more

My husband, daughter, and I visited for dinner on August 30, 2026. We ordered two Stuffed Salmon dinners, the Bayou Classic, Brussels sprouts, Not Yo Momma's Greens, and cornbread. The food looked good and had good flavor, but the temperature was unacceptable. Most of the food was served somewhere between lukewarm and cold. Hot food should be served hot. We chose not to send it back because we were uncomfortable with the thought of having our food taken back to the kitchen and then returned to our table. What was also disappointing was the lack of customer service. Both the owner and manager were present, and I observed them talking with other guests, but neither came to our table to greet us or ask about our experience. We used to visit the Garland location frequently and always enjoyed our meals there, so I'm not sure what has changed. Based on this visit, I was disappointed. Will I return? Maybe. But honestly, this location is not high on my list of places to revisit. Good flavor and nice presentation are not enough when the food is served cold and the customer experience is lacking. read more
