Everything we had here was great. The appetizers were very flavorful and unique and then the salad was probably a top 5 salad I've ever had. The one weak points were the chicken parm and the butter cake. The chicken was low on flavor and the pasta was salty. It evened out but was unbalanced overall. The butter cake was grainy and not very warm but the ice cream it had was delicious. Service and ambiance were outstanding maybe some of the best vibes I've experienced in Dallas. I can't strongly recommend JOEY and I'm really not sure what's happening here. The reviews are high but the execution didn't live up to the hype. I ended up only ordering a drink and an appetizer because I was so disappointed I didn't want to go further. $23.75 Joey Martini - just a simple dry vodka martini w Kettle One. But the description lured me in with the promise of a fantastic martini with an "extra martini on the side". What I received was a half of a martini with the rest of my martini in a shaker next to it. The martini was fine but nothing special. Not the first time I've overplayed for a drink but I do feel a little funny about the way their menu sold me then undelivered. $19 Hummus - The food was an issue for me though. When I order Hummus, I expect to receive hummus. Like the dish should be 70-80% hummus with some light toppings and some good pita bread. What I received was a pretty plate but very little actual hummus and a disaster of pita. First, they made a pretty plate circle of a small band of hummus then filled it with extra stuff to make it APPPEAR as if the center was filled with hummus yet there was zero hummus except for that small outer band. I estimate 49% hummus and the rest tzatziki and garnishment. Don't get me wrong, very aesthetically pleasing and tasty "extras" but the menu item isn't titled "EXTRAS with a little hummus". It's titled "Hunmus". And the pita... oh boy, what a mess. Proper pita is lightly grilled - served warm with a nice sponginess yet bite friendly approach. This pita was way over saturated in their butter/oil, and crisped up to the point there were burn marks and char on every piece. Horrible pairing with hummus and JOEY should know it. I feel these other reviews may be fake honestly as the prices are insane and the execution quite poor. Be careful. $45 for a $15 meal isn't worth it. We were fortunate to have a relatively short wait (~35 minutes) despite not having a reservation. In the foyer, they were handing out champagne, which set a festive, welcoming vibe immediately upon entering. Although I didn't have any, it was noticed as a nice touch for the age appropriate adults who came in for dinner that evening. I liked the seating in the main dining room. A mix of cozy round tables that accommodate 4-6 people comfortably and some 2-tops where couples could sit together separated by space and not necessarily dividers. The vibe was energetic, but not noisy. A random unique touch was the purse/bag tree that they had next to tables where women wanted to hang their purses, leaving space for people to sit on seats. These stands were also a way to hang shopping bags for the NorthPark mall shoppers without creating tripping hazards. I had been to JOEY in downtown LA and had high expectations and JOEY Dallas didn't disappoint. Friday night, so it was really busy and service matched the level business. Not super fast but understandably so. Ruby was our server. A warm and friendly gal, who was knowledgeable about the menu making suggestions for us and our son. We ordered hibachi wings and our little guy had a plain cheeseburger and some french fries, to start. I also ordered the Sushi cone and had the JOEY classic steak plate for an entree. Skipped the desert. Everything was good, and the variety available ensured that everyone was satisfied. The steak was tender and tasty. The loaded potato sticks were, ok... just served below room temperature. And the broccolini was fresh. My son commented on the warm, buttery bun for his burger, so he was happy. I was craving a proper girl dinner...you know, a Caesar salad paired with just about anything. It's Monday, and in Dallas, half the city seems to shut down by 9 p.m. (Do better, Dallas.) I didn't want fast food or bar food, and Joey was only 10 minutes away. Perfect. I walked in already tasting my Caesar salad... To my surprise, Joey doesn't serve a Caesar salad. Like, what?! How is that even possible? So I went with the next best thing: the Truffle Me pasta. The truffle carbonara with chicken was amazing. When I ordered it, the bartender told me it was his favorite dish, which immediately got me excited. It was rich, filling, and definitely enough food. The portion seemed a little small for the price, but it was really good. I could've used a little more truffle flavor, but I still absolutely demolished it. I almost licked the plate. I paired it with Joey's French 75. It was okay, not my favorite. Their twist on a French 75 just didn't do it for me, and I probably wouldn't order it again. Overall, the pasta saved the night. My nephew ordered the Tuna Poké bowl, which he inhaled and said was absolutely delicious. I couldn't resist. I had the steak and ravioli. It was out of this world. The raviolis were homemade. They were not the big round ones like you get in the store. They were smaller squares. They were filled with some delicious filling, and I think it was record and mushrooms. I'm not sure and then there was shrimps on top and it was in a wonderful white sauce that tasted buttery and lemonade. It was delicious and then the steak the steak was sliced and cooked to perfection. It was great. We were scouting out this place because my sister and her husband, my nephew's parents, when they come into town, they want something good to eat. My brother-in-law is very picky so I had seen this place at the mall. I did a quick review on Yelp and saw that it had good ratings and I told my Nephew we have to go check it out. I'm glad we did. We had reservations- they welcomed us and gave us champagne while we awaited our table - which was prepared swiftly despite the heavy crowd. Atmosphere starts with the little beginnings and what a great start. Our table service started with our waitress- Dominica - whom greeted us and brought our menus and we reviewed and made some selections. Dominica was always there when we needed her / invisible but present when we needed something - which is a true talent. We started with the "spicy crab dip" which was true to its name and very pleasant. We had a beautiful red wine whom was opened tableside and served by their semolina - she was great and the wine was exceptional. Our mains were next. The pork chop. 999 places get them wrong - this is the place that nails it. Perfectly cooked and delightfully seasoned - moist and juicy and tasty - omg. Full stop there was in complete love !! Beautiful and open atmosphere, the staff are all sweet and aesthetically gorgeous, the food is delicious and absolutely loved the flourless chocolate cake with raspberry drizzle.
